Well, I'm sure there are a few that know of this doujin game.
What is Bootfighter, you ask? It's a mecha fighting game that allows you to make custom pilots and face off against other mecha. However, Bootfighter is just the free version.

There is also a commercial version called "Ultimate Knight Windom XP", which balances out the roster some more and adds on more modes of play. In addition, you can do local multiplayer in UKWXP. However, some of the mecha previously available in Bootfighter need to be unlocked by playing through Arcade mode with certain mecha. Along with that, people have also recreated mecha from anime series like Gundam and Evangelion for use in Ultimate Knight Windom XP.

An (outdated, but English-translated) version of Bootfighter can be found here. As for Ultimate Knight XP, you'll have to search around for it.

I'll be sure to check out those pilots. Can't do online though, since my desktop computer has no internet :(

For the newcomers:
If your PC is slow, choose the "Lowest quality" setting for the textures. This should help out with framerate issues.

I'll post up mine soon. Anyways, if you want to unlock the mechs easily in Arcade Mode(This only applies to Ultimate Knight XP), just play on Easy difficulty.

Ultimate Knight XP also has items you can equip to your mech, which boost defense and stuff.

Oh jeeze I haven't seen this game in -ages-

Shame too, I used to have a whole bunch of pilots I made, I even had some sound to go with some of them like the White Ranger (Kiba Ranger) hmm.. If I have to time and the bordem, I might just remake some of them.

Man this is a blast from the past. I played the crap out of this game. Even made my own pilots and stuff. I might get back into this game, if I could find someone to play and rebuild my pilots. That and learn this game again. The only thing I remembered was how hectic the battles got.

Too bad the framerate gets rough when there's more than two mechs on the field(at least on my PC.).

Offline. It runs smooth when there's only two mechs. Three mechs makes it a little slow, but that's not as worse as four mechs. It's like N64 frame rate there.

If I get Ultimate Knight version would I still be able to play with the people with the Bootfighter version?

I think so. Most of the other stuff from Bootfighter works with Ultimate Knight XP.

The controls I use are:
Z-Beam
X-Sword
A-Jump
S-Target lock-on/change
D-Guard
Q-Subweapon 1
W-Subweapon 2
E-Subweapon 3

Yup, we think alike as far as control scheme. But it might be awhile before I can play this again.
