You need IronMugen's Ryo to use this patch, you can get him here at IronMugen's official website - http://deltapark.piiym.net/

This patch includes an edited def file, a new portrait for Ryo (Credit goes to Crazy Koopa for this) which you can manually install, an edited snd file, several new palettes replacing the originals, and a small text document detailing some of the alterations made to Ryo. Most of the alterations are purely cosmetic, but his hyper hop/long jump was fixed, so you can easily do it by tapping down and then jumping in any direction.

Okay, a quick evalution of this patch: The new palettes look much MUCH more cleaner, especially his x button palette, with the lighter sleeves. The voice you used sounds much better now there's no skipping. And yeah, teh Hyper Jump thing really helps in a pinch. I have to say it, Izlude, if you can fix upa  Ryo like this (Not that it was bad before) then your personal Ryo's fast gonna become a legend.

And the OraOra! Text file is just cute. :3

Nice patch, I like the new palettes a lot, and the sound is much better indeed.

- In the def file, you set it up to have only 4 different palettes. You could have put your 4 new palettes as the first ones, but let IronMugen's ones as pal5 to pal12.

Here are some things you may want to look at, since they're easy fixes :
- You can chain 5 light punches for 200 damage.
- Opponent can recover in the air before the last hit of Zanretsu Ken.
- The smoke that appears during power charge follows Ryo during a few ticks when he jumps (only happened when "AI" controlled, I couldn't reproduce it by hand).

IronMugen is aware of the problem with the Zanretsuken and some opponents being able to recover before the last hit. I don't know how to fix it myself, but maybe someday IronMugen will provide an update with some fixes. I tested the light punches, and could only get 3 of them to chain while standing. Has for the power charge, I'll look into it. There was a problem present with his power charge sprites being overlapped while charging (A few of IronMugen's characters also have this problem). I'll see what I can do about it.

Strange. I couldn't get more than three hits, standing or crouching. I'll take a look at it, and I'll also see if I can fix that Zanretsuken with the bit of code you provided.

I only liked the sound patch and the Buriki Palette. The other palettes are hideous, you only used 1 of them to display the beard. The portrait art is inferior to the original Wild Ambition Art, not to mention it's not even the same character.

I already knew this. However I removed it since it got a bit annoying. He already grunts while blocking anyways, there's no need for him to make two different sounds while blocking.

The other palettes are hideous, you only used 1 of them to display the beard.

I thought I did a good job with the new palettes, they have alot more pop than the original palettes (some of the original palettes were really hideous) in my opinion, but it was difficult to get the beard to look right with the rest of the palettes, so I only kept it for one palette. Feel free to make make your own palettes though, thats what they are there for. :)

The portrait art is inferior to the original Wild Ambition Art, not to mention it's not even the same character.

Alot of people liked the new artwork from 2k2UM and Ryo looked quite a bit like Wild Ambition Ryo, so thats why I put it there. It is the same character, for your information Ryo Sakazaki = Mr.Karate = Ryo Sakazaki. Do your homework. I actually think Wild Ambition had some of the worst artwork of the Fatal Fury series. Had a good soundtrack though. <3

All the pals that don't have a beard still show the lightest beard color on it, do your homework and check that stuff before releasing the upgrades.

I'm keeping the Buriki black pants palette and the sounds, everything else is Shift+Del material

I... have absolutely no idea what you are talking about. I agree a color combination must match concept-wise, and thats exactly what I did with the palettes.

Wild Ambition Ryo is basically Ryo with the top of his gi taken off and his shirt sleeves rolled down, thats it in a nutshell. Although his shirt looks way different in the actual Wild Ambition game (And this design is taken even farther in Mr.Karate's alternate outfit in KOFMI2), thats not the case with the actual sprites in IronMugen's character.

I am aware of this. Didn't seem like a big deal to me. However if it'll please you, I'll make a new small portrait that fixes this.

Did you read the OraOra text document? One of the biggest issues I fixed was his ability to hyper hop/long jump properly, which is a problem that persists in several other of IronMugen's characters. Originally, you couldn't tap down, and then jump in any direction to hyper hop/long jump. You might want to at least keep the def file handy.

Anyways, if you don't like my patch, thats fine by me, I originally made this patch to enjoy for myself, but I felt like sharing it with others. And that's my final word. Have a nice day. :)

Oh, and one more thing. Who do you think raided IronMugen's character poll two years ago? XD

I definitely saw a beard on there. Anyway, yes, Ryo inherited the title of Mr Karate from Takuma. Personally I think you need a Tengu mask to properly inherit the title but yeah.

Of note, some guy on Youtube says Takuma died during Fatal Fury 2 or something. Is that true?

And they can't say Takuma died of Old age, cos he would have been in his late 50s or early 60s, which is still too young to die of old age, and anyway, look at Tung Fu Rue. He must be in his early 80s and is still kicking it. So either that guy was feeding me a yummy bowl of bullshit or Takuma must have had some EXPLOSIVELY potent cancer or some shit

Just for the records - when that XII 2k2um portrait came out, Iron said he thought it would be sweet on his CCIMrKarate, in an MSN convo we were having.

anyways...I already downloaded, just to be sure, cause it takes HD space on my xbox, and I can't be putting chars and chars all the time...especially if is the same I already have...

this is a NEW patch?

Yes, the old one included the 3 new palettes and the new voices. However this new one adds another new palette, and some fixes/additions to his .def file, namely allowing him to hyper hop/long jump properly. That has always bothered me about some of IronMugen's characters, but it's really not that hard to fix.

I am thinking of doing some more editing, like allowing him to chain crouching LK into crouching HP (KOF2k3-XI I believe), and maybe doing some sprite editing and add Hyouchuu Wari (Gotta have an overhead attack) and replace Upward Guard (Forward + LP) with it. I'll also try to fix the Zanretsuken recovery bug. So expect an update sometime.

POTS because he gave a lot of feedback when the char came out, but the topic seems to be gone now. Byakko because he may have saved the topic as he was planning on fixing some bugs IIRC.

Iron probably only left him to Byakko because Byakko would do that Hare Hare Yukai shit with him.

See? In the end Haruhism still won! Byakko would probably give Ryo a special win pose vs. Choiyer's Haruhi where he recieves a golden shower from her.

I wouldn't mind that this thread became the workshop to get everything straightened out. I'm sure the Roll properties have been discussed before, I guess it'd be good to post the code on how to fix that and see if it applies to other characters as well.

    guardflag = MA; into this:
    guardflag = M;
    (If the character has a normal that takes them of the ground, then leave the guardflag the same)
  • Crouching kicks are fine as is.
  • Special moves Statedef 1000+ all special moves are named. Add to the hitdef:
    fall.recover = 0
  • Supers Statedef 2000+ : Kinda depends on the super, I'm pretty sure if it has a specific guarding requirement then its already done, otherwise change this:
    guardflag = MA; into this:
    guardflag = M

Not sure how to do this myself, but DM projectiles get negated by normal projectiles.
Maybe someone can add the code to fix that?
