Honestly, he looks like a paletteswap of Inverse's Slash.

He is, with Rugal's Panther and Jubei's sword from SS so he's holding 2 swords, and a few other tweaks (purple eyes, sword sound FX from SS, and sped up to move quicker).  Still needs different chest armor, and ragged edges to bottom of cape, and special attacks for Guenhwyvar (the panther's name)

Palette is sort of limited to what the character's colors are:

Any specific suggestions?

I think, honestly, you'd be best ripping the sprites from the game so he doesn't seem like a mashup of three characters.

There are no Drizzt sprites unfortunately.  The only elf sprites I know of are Slash and Keel from Golden Axe the Duel.  Basically, the only thing I added to Slash was a second sword, which took a long time to frankensprite each frame since the angle of the sword changes a lot.

Is there a reason you didn't even bother to align Rodem's growling sprites properly?

Sure, I can try.  What specifically is the issue?  He has a standing code, and a walking code only.  There are about 3 sprites used for when he's standing, that's all I had to work with, since the other sprites won't work for that type of animation.  I made it so when Drizzt turns around and moves the other direction, the panther also turns around (so he isn't walking backwards).
If someone wants to jump in and help out I'm more than happy to share, I'm new to MUGEN so still figuring it all out.

For those of you not familiar with the character, he's based on the Dark Elf novels by R.A. Salvatore.  There are over twenty books and graphic novels starring this character.  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Drizzt

He's camoe'd in some RPG games, but never in a fighting game.  So, I put this together for those Drizzt fans out there who want him on MUGEN.  Also, for fun I'm making a MUGEN D&D game and any suggestions for other characters are welcome.  So far I have Gillius, Death Adder, Leo, Tessa, Valdoll, Red Dragon and a couple others.  Still need a good knight, and Kain Blade would be great but there's only one place to get him and you have to post 600 times apparantly.

Okay, I fixed the panther's standing animation so he's aligned properly.  Looks much better.

Crassus and Jarred are a must , but they should be accurate to the game indeed.

I LOVE the idea and Drizzt is one of my childhood favs. Did he not have 2 scimitars though?
Look at my painting gallery. do it. its the globe under the avatar.

Well in the books they said scimitars, but Master Replicas made his sword and it looks like this:

Since Slash already came with one sword that looked like Twinkle, I figured I'd make Icingdeath look like it, so I used Jubei's longer sword from Samurai Shodown.

One other thing I need to add is Drizzt having the ability to drop a globe of darkness on his enemies, I figure that Jedah has some sprites that would make a good globe with some color tweaks.

I'm going to change the panther's eye color from red to green/yellow next (because that's a lot simpler, coding in MUGEN is still painstakingly slow for me)

Honestly you should make the panther there for an intro. (Like rugal had him) Him standing there like that looks extremely shitty, honestly. Unless you plan on using him as some sort of helper. And if that's the case you really should use the knights of valour panther sprites since that one actually had attack and hit animations.

I've fixed the panther's intro, changed his eye color.  I was hoping to use him as a helper, and at least give him one attack.  Do you know where I can find the knights of valour panther sprites?  Would love to check those out.

  • Getting back to work on MUGEN
Why do I get the sudden suspicion that people are going to start flooding MUGEN with clones of this guy?

Kidding, kidding. Looks good so far.

So I've updated the panther -- I fixed his standing animation so it's smooth, changed his eye color to yellow, moved him so he's behind Drizzt, and the biggie is that I gave him an attack move.  Basically, he works the same as Galford's Poppy.

Rugal's panther didn't have any attack sprites, so I used the legs and jaw from the Hellhoud sprites from D&D: Shadow Over Mystara and kept the upper body and head of the panther.
