Not really intending to do much more with these characters for now but i thought i would share it with you:



Features
=========
AI is adjusted depending on the level of the MUGEN engine

Most of the attack damage values have been taken from the game

All the moves/forms (from the Sega CD version)

Normal Mode and Boss Mode

Download the stage for this character for the full experience

Some moves work differently depending on what mugen stage you are using

Boss Mode:
---------

-Boss mode only lasts 1 Round unless this mugen character wins a round
-Boss mode is only selected by pressing high kick on the selection screen while choosing dark eternal champion
-Moves are unlocked though transforming at different times in the game so not all moves work at different times

Normal Mode:
-----------
- All moves are available
- The MUGEN character cannot revive unless its in boss mode

-Fixed some bugs from the older version (ie resurrection)

yeah, i thought since i didnt think many people would do Dark EC i thought i would give it a go as this character is quite interesting in the original game.


Quick update fix:

EC had a bit of an error where the sparkle i thing would regenerate, during the resurrection move hopefully now it happens a lot less.

one of the most underrated fighting games.

I couldn't agree with you more. I remember being 10 years old and purchasing Eternal Champions, for the cart based Genesis, at my local Service Merchandise. Good times. Great game.

Yeah, now and i again i go on a long break from MUGEN to be honest i would say MUGEN 1.0 was one of the reasons i came back because i wanted to check out the new features.

Indeed in the orignal game the sprite style was exactly like that. Maybe if there was a sega saturn version of this game the sprites would be even better.

I got this now and its pretty good.

Boss mode is ridiculous. First form consists of him spamming that wave attack all the time (which takes like 200 of your health). If only he was vulnerable after appearing when using that attacks where he disappears from the screen, instead of being invulnerable until that animation ends. Fortunately, it's easy to counter him. But second form is impossible, period. He spams the freezing ability all the time. Unless I use a projectile character, it's impossible to beat him.

Edit: Beat him with Snake, spamming grenades all the time. And seriously, as soon as he has enough power, he spams that rock and fire rain attacks, which prolongs the fight a lot.

Boss mode is ridiculous. First form consists of him spamming that wave attack all the time (which takes like 200 of your health). If only he was vulnerable after appearing when using that attacks where he disappears from the screen, instead of being invulnerable until that animation ends. Fortunately, it's easy to counter him. Any invulnerabilities were taken from the source game, same with damages. I did make the AI adjustable, i would recommend toning down the AI level in options for the character to be easier (I medium setting or lower if the character seems too hard).

In all honestly the EC bosses were very hard to beat in the game.

For example in the original EC the boss would sometimes spam the invincibility move over and over gain (even though all special moves where suppose to use power).

Fair enough i suppose

A few EC Mugen characters that are of interest to me when i get time and more interest in Mugen would be Xavier (My favourite EC character), Blade and Jetta.

It would be cool for someone to do the remaining characters perhaps that have not been converted yet then we could a have a Mugen version of Eternal Champions COTDS :yes:

A full game of this would be awesome and i think its even more possible with this new Mugen engine.

yes this is one of the games that certainly deserves some more love, Would be great to see Raven on Mugen, in the case you are working on Jetta or other versions of characters previously released, good luck my friend and congratulations on this release

Time to get beat by this idiot time and time again...Hours of cursing galore!

Man, I used to play this game and would always have trouble with this guy and that Pharaoh looking dude.

The other day I picked this game up again after years and years of not playing it, emulated it on my PSP and could not get past the second match. ;P

What a damn hard to beat fighter this is...but still very fun and unique though.

Thanks for the release and I look forward to more EC content from you.

I contributed some of the sprites for this, as well as doing a few game comparisons in addition to SuperMystery's. ;)
I look forward to helping him out in any future EC projects he does. =)

Btw, I'm modifying the late (yes, he's deceased) Juan Carlos' EC screen pack he did. I'm adding in proper lifebars and some other stuff as well. I also added some EC CD menu BGs and sound effects as well. Also, fixed Juan Carlos' old Gens sounds with more accurate ones ripped with Kega Fusion 3.64.
So, hopefully, everyone will enjoy this screenpack even more once I'm finished with it. In a way, it's supposed to honor Juan Carlos for making a lot of the EC characters for MUGEN you see floating around the net today. While they weren't accurate, they were designed for older versions of MUGEN. Hopefully, somebody in the future takes it upon themselves to update them.



Also, fun and random fact about Dark EC: The people who drew his sprites back when the game was being worked on had a hard time with drawing them. According to the series Executive Producer and Creator, Michael Latham, whom I'm in contact with, the spriters doing Dark EC struggled with drawing him. They did a good job for what it was.

yeah, a few do need the work (such as Blade whom was left unfinished and Slash) did love Juan's Xavier (even has his vendetta move) and RAX Coswell, also his Ramses III was done well (though he'd spam his gold anubis move ala UMK3 Jade invincibility)

love to see his chars updated and stages too, especially if it's possible to code in their vendettas

Xavier....LOL His AI was a bastard. And where's the love for Shadow?? I hated that shadow move she would spam when near death. I remember figuring out patterns in the AI and eqsily beathing the game (no lie!!) with my main man, Trident.

Nobody liked Trident. Curses.... I was also a Rax and Larcen fan. Hell, the game was amazing. You guys have me in an official nostalgic moment here. I spent hours playing EC as a youngster and loved every second of it. LOl none of ky friends could beat me!!

I may sound like an idiot, but I couldn't get any stage interaction : I used EC in his stage, obviously, pressing C at the select screen to get Boss mode. I then performed his moves, in training mode and VS mode, but didn't see any modification in the stage.
What am I doing wrong ?

(the Dark EC stage, not the regular EC's stage) When he loses all his health, he'll resurrect, and go to the alter and change forms. Then he'll come back into his clothes. Likewise, Regular EC needs the new stage that's meant for his 1.0 version in order to interact with it. ;)

Sure thing. I might make a thread for her in the WinMUGEN section....maybe.....  depending upon how many people want her. However, like I said, She's very incomplete and could use work. I have no idea if this Eternian dude is still around or not even, so I'd assume he doesn't have interest in updating her anymore. Be nice if somebody decided to take it upon themselves to finish her, as she's fun to play as in the Sega CD game. =)

It's Shadow's Sega CD costume ironically. That means her EC 1 costume doesn't have a character made yet.

I guess while I'm at it, I'll list the currently known EC characters for MUGEN. I'll also list quick info about them as well:

Slash - An old Juan Carlos character. Missing some animations. Palletes don't work properly and very incomplete.

Johnathan Blade- Same as Slash.

MidKnight - Needs to be converted to WinMUGEN format before he can be played as since I think he's Juan Carlos' first. He has compatibility issues with WinMUGEN and MUGEN 1.0 and both programs will crash. Damage values are too high and inaccurate. I think some of his attacks from the Genesis game aren't in there either due to the limitations of MUGEN back in the old days.

Ramses III - Juan Carlos' most accurate character probably. Every move and attack seems to have transferred over to MUGEN nearly perfectly. Not a huge fan of his stun noise playing each time he's hit though... AI sucks when fighting the CPU as with most MUGEN characters... Pity.... AI is standard for getting people's attention to play as your character if they fight it since it shows your awesome attacks you implemented. He's also Dark EC's favorite character to kill in the games according to the access info storyline's text or something like that. =P

R.A.X. Coswell- seems to be based on his Genesis/Mega Drive version by Juan Carlos again. Don't really play that version, so I can't tell about accuracy. Has his stage's overkill implemented into his character. Damage values are too high though and he shouldn't block in the air.

Xavier Pendragon- Another one of Juan's characters with inaccurate moves and absurdly high damaging attacks. Oddly enough, seems to mix Xavier's Sega CD and Mega Drive/Genesis moves together. He even has Xavier's Sega CD only Cane uppercut (Dragon's Bite) and Xavier's Vendetta. Although, his Vendetta's missing the stomping animation where he crushes his opponent under his foot while smiling like a badass douchebag.

Larcen Tyler- Larcen's pretty inaccurate and broken. Yet another one of Juan's characters with absurdly high damage values that don't reflect the game. Also has inaccurate moves. Still pretty fun to play as though, but I think a new Larcen would be nice. =) Also has air blocking which he shouldn't have.

Trident - not sure. I think he's based off of his Genesis/Mega Drive iteration. Though, I don't think he's very accurate. Also, the Striker feature's annoying if you're wanting accuracy.

Senator - This guy's attacks and AI are extremely annoying. He's probably one of the most accurate EC characters for MUGEN outside of SuperMystery's Dark EC and EC. Even so, his taunt is mapped to Start button for some odd reason when it should be X+Y simultaneously. Also, he blocks in the air which makes his AI even more of a pain to deal with. As mentioned a couple of times before, EC characters aren't supposed to block in the air.  I always forget the creator's name for some odd reason or another....

Sega CD Costume Shadow Yamoto- this character dates back to a version of MUGEN back in 2002. There's only one place to find her outside of the link for her I just uploaded. There's an esnips file that has her oddly enough, along with all the characters listed above called "Eternal Champions 10 character lot.rar"... It may be, the reason she was unknown before was that it was the creator, Eternian that uploaded the "EC 10 character lot" file. She's missing a lot of attacks and makes Kung Fu Man's death noise when defeated.

Eternal Champion -  Super Mystery's Eternal Champion is probably one of the most accurate EC characters to date. Unfortunately, due to the way palletes rotate ingame, Super Myster had to rip the rotating pallete sprites individually for each animation so he has like four duplicates of the same animation with different parts of the rotating pallete animations in them. It isn't 100 % perfect as EC turns purple again when thrown or hit hard in a transformed state. But only for those animations and reverts back to his colors after getting damaged in these incidents. A version for MUGEN 1.0 is available now complete with Stage interaction capabilities a Normal version like DEC has, a boss version just like DEC, and most of the resurrection bugs fixed. He's also available for Winmugen as you well know.

Dark Eternal Champion - This character is by far my favorite EC character and I'm glad I could contribute stuff to SuperMystery's project on him. No need to go into details though as this thread pretty much makes it self-explanatory.

Anyway, apologies for going off subject. Just figured I'd do a rundown of all the currently known EC characters out there for MUGEN new and old.

This is my sprite rip thread. Though, not all the sprite rips are mine btw. However, they should be useful resources for those of you who make characters. Raven's even got a nearly complete sprite sheet ripped by a dude named Maxim. ;)

Oh and also, SuperMystery's Dark EC uses an animation that was unused in the Sega CD game for his round 2 victory pose.

Thanks. I already have her but I was just talking about how difficult she was to find. I had no idea Eternian had other characters. And actually, there's a lot of nice other characters I don't have on that site.

anyhow I do have a suggestion against Juan Carlos's Eternal Champions chars you should add in compatibility (IE Dark Champion does their Cinekills on the char)

SuperMystery's taking a break ATM. Though Cinekills might be cool. Though, you'd have to rip the audio separately and take a bazillion screenshots of each Cinekill (unless there's someway to add video to MUGEN characters that I don't know about.) So it would be a very tedious process.

Probably not. If he was in WinMUGEN, many of this features would have to be removed. Such as rotating palletes as WinMUGEN doesn't support those iirc. Also, stage interactions as well.
