Ok, again, I'm new to the whole editing thing and this is my second wip log, so I'm just trying to get the hang of showcasing / uploading gifs and all that so people can see what I've been up to. This character was originally made by TOPS, and I was very happy with the potential/content of it once I got into updating it. I really don't understand why it sat broken for so many years, but hey, I guess nobody knew what they were missing. Anyway props to him for an awesome character, but this has been a long hard road to recovery and I think Duke is finally starting to see the light. Remember when he couldn't even stand there right? for years? <-- UPDATE: apparently not everybody experienced the same problems with him that I did. I guess his old version has been working fine for some people? On my computer all of his anims looped indefinitely, and all of his items were Xed out at the beginning of each round. I thought everyone was experiencing this. Added new large and small portraits: Created breathing sprites for crouch, and collaged some sprites to create a crouch turning animation, and to get gun to pass from hand to hand. Also changed sprites in standing turning for same effect. Created and modified some walk sprites and realigned it. These are the new realigned and re-timed basic attacks. I would add gifs for his crouching and jumping basics too, but this screen is getting really hard to look at already, so this will have to suffice.Download (6/16/12 version)_______/ SIMPLIFIED CHANGE LOGRehabilitating Duke Nukem is proving easier said than done. So far:-Regained basic motor skills-Regained the ability to throw a weak punch-Now capable of walking in a straight line. Realigned walk, crouch, dash, areal basics.-Fresh Frankenspriting: Added frames to walk, aligned foot position for crouch and landing-Redid Jumping animations_/ added 6/10-Added frames to areal basics to smooth out motion. -Added & created frames for standing & crouching basic attacks-Realigned and re-timed all standing, jumping and crouching basic attacks._/ added 6/14-Realigned all get hit's-Fixed turning, and changed turning animation-created sprites for crouch breathing and turning, and added a crouch turning animation-changed the turning animation so he passes the gun from one hand to the other-realigned a bunch of shit, fixed a ton of collisions_/ added 6/16-dug through all his code to find what was keeping the items from working and fixed it. Ok, after redoing all of his basic animations, aligning them so his foot position holds, making the tic counts feel quick, but not too quick, creating new sprites to smooth them out, and actually naming them so I know what I'm working with, Duke Nukem has officially regained control of his basic ability to fight... check original post for update.

I think his grenade launcher and laser mines are a bit cheap... Maybe you could these moves could take some more seconds so the char would get less cheap...

He means changing the gameplay to a real MVC type gameplay, or a Custom CVS (à la POTS) type of gameplay, and not mixing stuff like TOPS did.I'm not making any suggestions here, just guessing what he means.

they are alot of fun and a mix of things. honestly idk how you would do pots style for a character that doesn't even exist in a fighting game.

It was an easy fix really, it was just a 3 day pain in the ass of whittling it down with trial and error to what exactly was causing it.
no I actually don't know that, unless you've been updateing an outdated version of him. his newest version they worked fine.

That version of him is so busted anyway tho that's about the least of his worries. He can't even stand there right. It's kind of funny too, because once I got him working he turned out to be a sweet character. A few tweaks to his coding here and there, a little overhaul in terms of realigning, re-timing and some frankenspriting to his attacks, and he's a very decent character. Well made aside from those few tragic bugs and bad alignments.

Yeah I think that was the later game where duke had fingerless gloves... but still it would be a good Idea to add the fingerless gloves... just throwing ideas here.
