This isn't new new, but there's no topic on it here and it may be of interest to some.

So there's this franchise of illustrated role-playing books, Queens Blade, where not only the whose cast seems to be female, but it's just as frequent for the artwork to involve blades cutting through clothes for revealing pics. The franchise has its own characters, but there have been some books featuring characters from other works, like Mai from Fatal Fury/KoF, Iroha from Samurai Shodown or Kasumi from Dead or Alive.

There was a SRPG for the PSP using the franchise's own characters, Queen's Blade: Spiral Chaos, and as it was made by Banpresto, it's likely to have features common to the Super Robot Wars games - I wouldn't know, since I never played it or read much on it...

Anyway, a sort of sequel/spin-off is planned, Queen's Gate: Spiral Chaos, featuring characters from several franchises, some of which have already been covered in the released books - here's the currently known list, as seen here:

Alice (Nitroplus)
Dizzy (Guilty Gear)
Mai Shiranui (Fatal Fury)
Ink Nijihara (Moetan)
Iroha (Samurai Shodown)
Cham Cham (Samurai Shodown)
Mina Majikina (Samurai Shodown)
Lili (Tekken)
Katja (Seikon no Qwaser)
Hattori Junko (Ichiban Ushiro no Daimaou)
Yagyu Jubei (Hyakka Ryouan Samurai Girls)
Kotome-chan (Hyper Nurse Painkiller)
Maron Macaroon  (original)

For all I know, this might end up playing like the SRW games (which may be a good thing, since those often blend very different styles of shows together while staying true to what makes them unique), while using a system of damage to specific areas for the sake of fanservice artwork.

Personally, I'm interested in seeing how they handle at least the very different styles between characters like Tekken's Lili (should be mostly down-to-earth physical attacks - I don't play Tekken much to really know) and GG's Dizzy. Or how true they'll be to their original games where applicable (Cham Cham's super breaking the opponent's weapons on a successful hit, or Mai getting infinite energy for supers when low on life?).

I'd prefer to see something like this with less girl-oogling fanservice involved, but for now I guess I'm glad something like it exists on a more expanded scale than what Cross Edge did before only with Darkstalkers characters.
It would be cool i down the line they made something like this outside the Queen's Blade standards and let us take our favorite fighting game guys for a brawl at Metro City with Mad Gear, the Shadaloo HQ  against the dolls + bosses or take on the 4orochi heavenly king (all in blue garb like Goenitz like in that on KoF 98 ending) all at once, to let us enjoy interesting group fights that the usual 1-on-1 mechanics don't easily allow.

Okay, before this gets moved, let me post all characters I can recognize that are new and do not belong in Queen's Blade novels.

- Alice from Nitro+
- Mai from KoF.
- Dizzy from GG (hell yeah :sugoi:)
- Unknown girl called Lily (at least that's the way I read her name in Hiragana)
- Unkown girl that uses fake claws to attack. Her name reads as Maron=Makaron --;
- Ekaterina from Seikon no Qwaser
- Iroha from Samurai Shodown.
- Mina from Samurai Shodown.
- Cham Cham from Samurai Shodown (chibi form, so not really sure, but I think I got it right)
- Junko from Ichiban Ushiro no Dai Maou
- Jubei from Samurai Girls (not really sure).
- Ivy from Soul Calibur (seriously? o_O)

Apart from that, seems there's combo attacks (I mean, attacks that requires a partner near to use them). And that all Queen's Blade characters are there (in the first game, some were missing).

It's not region-locked, which makes the prospect of getting both this and SRW Z2 more tempting (may have to hurry with the latter though, I'm not sure it'll still be easy to get a new copy by late July, when Queen's Gate is released).

Nah, I will pass on the first. Besides, if there's any content that requires the other game, I just need to look for a save that already unlocked it (as I did with the Yu-Gi-Oh games for PSP )

More info:
- Noel from Blazblue now included
- another perv-factor feature :(
- they realized there's enough perv-factor in this portable game to justify an emergency screen concealment feature.

- The hell is she doing there?

- There are a lot in the game, why so surprised to see another one?

- LOL they did the same for Ar Tonelico 3. There was even an achievement for that. Let's see what clever ideas they use for this. But seriously, I don't think it's necessary for a portable console.

I'm not too into Blazblue, but isn't Noel the girl with the guns?
This seems to share some gameplay with the SRW games, and you can always use some good ranged units in that, and they'll likely be handy here too - most girls seem to rely on melee weapons, although there are some notable exceptions (Mina with arrows, Mai's Kachosen, Cham-Cham's boomerang, I think Dizzy has some projectiles too...).

I figure what was announced already should have been enough - what interests me in this game is the cast and how it'll adapt to a different genre, and it's annoying to see the focus leaning heavily toward things that make it practically be embarrassed about being interested in the game. And I thought the maid fanserve in SC3 was annoying...

If you play games on a console or PC in addition to playing portable games, you might stick to the former when at home, and the latter while on things like trips. For example, at home I stick to my PC or PS3, and am more likely to use my PSP to play Dissidia on train trips - however, that seems an unlilely scenario with a game like this - I'd have to cut into my PC/PS3 time for it, since at this point it's very clear that the things that interest me about it aren't worth the embaressment of having the perv ones showing up on screen if someone's sitting next to me on the train.

I hope it'll simply be possible to turn that sort of thing off in some options screen...

You know, back in the day DOS games had something called a "Boss Key"
You press F5 and the game would send you to a screen that looked like something important and work-related.

A system conceived for a machine in front of which you may spend a few hours wile only needing to avoid other people' attention for a few moments might work - for a portable console it may not work that well, since it may be used on shorter occasions during which you might be in the precense of others for the full duration.

Barely related, it's almost sad Leona isn't in this - she has a few mecha-inspired attacks that might get some interesting depictions from the folks at Banpresto. Alas, she doesn't seem to cater much to the fetishes in this, and odds are the original Queen's Blade casts already includes an Ayanami-alike.

Well, atleast they KNOW this game is quite embarassing when playing it on certain places...

KKK is short for the Japanese phrases for "Like this!", "I'm being watched!?", and "Evade!!". When in the middle of a DPS, if you find that your play session is being observed by someone, you can switch to a panic screen.

LOL the return of the Boss Key  :D

Quote
DPS is short for "Destiny Punish System." Apparently, you can use this system to shoot out a "mysterious liquid" at other characters. The only problem is, they won't like you too much if you do it.

Oh well... they are kind of overdoing it with this, can't wait to see how further they can push all this to a new level of pervness  :ninja:
pls

Queen's Gate's panic screen is more entertaining than what it's meant to conceal.
I kinda hope that's actually playable.

Noel having an in-game plot that references her own game gives me some hope for interesting aspects of the others being present, though that may end up going nowhere like other hanging crossover plots (Maki looking for Guy in CvS2, Shiki and Genjuro looking for Hoahmaru in SvC Chaos, etc....).

LOL at the panic screen.

Also, I hope Noel has her Astral Finish as a move. That would be cool.

Bumping this since the game's going to be released soon (July 28).  Besides Noel, another addition to the cast is Namco's Momo (from Wonder Momo; she teamed up with Bravoman in Namco X Capcom).

Very late, but another trailer was shown, displaying the current cast (including Noel and Momo), the game mechanics, new theme song called "mischievous of alice" written by Yousei Teikoku (one of my favorite bands), and more.

What makes me sad is that the SRW games have practically the same mechanics and still sell decently despite having none of the perv stuff listed (well, there's some bouncing animations, but the casts in those games actually have playable males).
I wish there were a "clean" (and more gender-balanced, while at it) version of this...
A lot of characters have have started their careers in eroge and later were adapted to media that didn't exploit the sexual side of things nearly as much, it's sad to see the reverse happening...

What makes me sad is that the SRW games have practically the same mechanics

wait, are you implying that this game has mechanics ?

It's a sequel, so it has a base game to draw features from:
http://www.gamefaqs.com/psp/959233-queens-blade-spiral-chaos/faqs/58702

And it's by the same people that have worked on the Super Robot Wars games, which have been around for 20 years (during which there has been a lot of refinement and experimentation), and quite a few features from that seem to be in - elsewhere it has been pointed out that Queen's Blade used a parts system that seems inpired by something used previously in the SRW game for the Gamecube...
