Would anyone be interested in a forum collaborated stage?

What I mean by that is each person provide one sprite, and each sprite used to be put into a stage?

I'm definitely down for this, I got a couple folders worth of stage stuff I'll probably never put to use.  Any specific theme in mind, or just kinda random shit?  Hi-res, low-res, both?

Sweet, what theme idea do you guys have in mind?

I was thinking something along the lines of nature/urban/futuristic

Let's hear your thoughts

What if we did something like an elevator-type stage, and each floor it would stop at could be a different user's idea?  Perhaps we could do a little template dealie for the stage dimensions, number of layers, etc. and just kind of let everyone do their thing?  I know that would be a pain in the ass to code, but the results could be worth it.

I actually believe Davismaximus' idea is great.

I picture it as if the building was MFG INC., and the elevator would go up, and starting from the bottom floor up, you'd be in the All that's left section, people just shooting the shit, passing through the International Section full of flags from all countries, projects section which would be a laboratory, and so on ... and in the top floor, the MFG Staff could be in a meeting room discussing stuff with graphs and stuff.

I dunno, the idea lends itself for many different things, and that variety sounds enticing.

An actual forum stage, that might be even better than davis idea, which seemed to be just collating them.

I was going to suggest a "broken" dimension stage where pieces jutted out from other dimensions, but I like Walt idea better.

Another suggestion could be to have the fighters middle a storm and have the debris falling around be things users gave away, kindof like when we made that katamari ball for rare akuma.

By the way, post any images than you might find interesting

I think this stage has people in apartments and working in offices or something, and the concept is very much the same.

We'd need to come up with the scenes of each floor, and everybody could just sprite themselves into any of those sections.

I think that one moved sideways, im not entirely sure.
The windows could be widened.
At any rate, you could even use the logo as if it was a neon sign while going across. Walt's idea is pretty good.
How would you divide the floors? 1 floor per section seems too little unless the elevator goes slowly, blink and its gone.

A graphics area seems easy to imagine a bunch of people drawing on pads around a naked ryu model
Idea engineering with tons of post its and half scribbled walls with plans, a chalkboard with a stickfigure on it
entertainment could be a big ass tv
gaming a big tv with sf4
releases could be symbolized as a training area with people putting their characters against each others
, also a project area with half constructed stuff, maybe people with blowtorches working on ryus and kyos.

also the stage had a midpoint where you could see the reflection on the mirror of a helicopter filming the fight, should it be replaced with anything ?

That leaves people who can't sprite left behind in terms of representation.

An idea of how far the bulding would have to be, if we were looking at a building across the street
http://photos.zoochat.com/large/fahrstuhl-10845.jpg

If it was an elevator that would open on every floor, the canvas to work in would be smaller also, but the stage would have to be horizontally small.

Just an idea : each person would fit as a recognizable persona in the correct section.
Cyanide could be XII (or what's hit name already for FF7) in the Dev Help section, while Balthazar could be a DBZ char in the graphics section, something like that.

I was actually thinking that if the BG characters are small, it shouldn't be too hard (they'd all look like shit anyway :P ), like the size of the guy playing snes in Sakura's SFA2 Stage
http://www.vgmaps.com/Atlas/Arcade/StreetFighterAlpha2-Japan%28Sakura%29.png

Small faces, and stuff like that. Things that would make users recognizable, like Balthazar being skinny and blonde ... kinda like what happened in the Freeza thread where people's faces were slapped on the body of another character, and that'd do it.

I was thinking that probably giving out a color palette with a bit of washed out colors so everybody can use that for their skin

or

just paste everything and add a transparent gray layer on top of everything and that should wash them out, to make them look like SFA BG characters. Or play tricks with other colors, like the lights going out or something.

We can try that

By the way, are you all comfortable with this being Low-Res, yes/no?

This, but in each floor lets put like a animated logo of the most recognized Mugen forums, (MFFA, MFG, New Age Mugen, Trinity Mugen, etc.) or give each use the oportunity to edit their forum's Floor but we might need the basic stage sprite (The elevator) in order to avoid the clashing. If you are down for this i would like to provide the 3d logos, following the users request. I'd go with High - Def or is it Hi - Res? :D

Low-res would be easier for almost anyone. When this stage is up in mugen heaven we can always do a high-res remake in 10 years!
It's a pretty ambitious project so I think we shouldn't go all out right away and lose interest along the way.
Anyway, I'm down with the general idea.
I think the best way to go is for the most creative person involved to design the levels/floors (the department, general look of it, and which users represented as characters would be present on each floor), make some rough sketches for instance. Walt/EXshadow/davismaximus/Iced can call dibs here imo) It'll be cool if they'd be represented as having an actual function and job (guys known premerely as spriters on drawing boards, guys more known as feedback-givers like Cybaster standing in front of a white-board, teaching stuff, etc.).
Users who are NOT as well-known as for example Cybaster, C.A.N, Walt, NoZ etc. could be represented as interns/trainees running around (I know that might sound harsh but that's the way it's gotta be, bros).
