I have a few myself.

Mine are Megaman 6 and Final Fantasy 6.

MM6 was the first megaman game I owned and FF6 was the first Final fantasy I played(back when it was FF3 on the snes).

How about you?
My picture is the head of an OC of mine that I want to some day star in an actual fighter game.

I wouldn't consider that a infinite since you have to make your opponent bounce of the wall and if you do it on the wrong side of the stage the stage interaction would activate.

Tetris - wasted tons and tons of hours with including many many cheap handhelds called Brick Games
Super Mario Bros. - first platform game, duh
Super Mario Bros. 3 - most beloved platform game, back then the game was a masterpiece for me, all the weird worlds were astounding
Final Fantasy VIII - first jrpg (Tactics was technically the first game I played and FFVII was the first game I've finished)
Pokemon GSC - fond memories of the late 90's. :); and I still love Pokemon to this day despite all that "first gen was the best, Pokemon is ruined!" deal
Sonic the Hedgehog - very first and loved Genesis game back when I did have a Genesis; I have never ever went past Labyrinth Zone however; damn you underwater Eggman boss!!!
Diablo 1 - very first wrpg, I loved the atmoshphere of the game, it got me hooked to dungeon crawlers
Starcraft - most favorite RTS; fond memories of grade school; me and my bro used to go to this cybercafe after swimming classes were over just to play Starcraft; it was a newly opened cafe and I still have fond memories of that new paint smell
Red Alert - if it wasn't Starcraft it's Red Alert 'nuff said. :P
Half-Life - the first single-player fps I ever loved and I still find it awesome to this day

oops, noticed I didn't explain why.
1. I didn't even own that game. but it's the one game I can always look back and and say I thoroughly enjoyed every detail about it. I miss it.
2. First and only game that gave me blisters on my fingers from playing it.
3. Beyond being a fighting game it came with some side rpg type game with it. It was the first game I had seen where you saw the equipped armor on your avatar. I was amazed.
4. I love it love it love it. I'm almost obsessed with it. It was such a great game to me, I honestly can't explain why on this one, it was just so great to me, all of it.
5. First kirby game I beat. It was just so great. I loved the different modes, I had to rent it though, but I did over and over until I beat it!
6. First real experience I had with a paint program. I spent so many hours doing shit on it like recoloring mario and such.
My picture is the head of an OC of mine that I want to some day star in an actual fighter game.

  • WIP: SF4 CE
-Atari 2600's Bobby is going home, and a couple more.

-Famicom's Shitty SF2 hacks (Master Fighter and SF3), the 2 Simpsons games back in the day, The Addams Family, Battletoads (talk about NES hard), Rockman 4, Kung Fu, Adventure Island 3, Lunar Ball, Snow Brothers, 1942, Shatterhand, Super Mario Bros 3, Star Force.

-SNES' Mega Man X 1-3, Mortal Kombat 1-2, Killer Instinct, Super Castlevania 4, FFVI and Chrono Trigger (those last 2 emulated, though).

-N64 Mario Kart, Extreme G, Goldeneye, and Mario 64.

-PC's Bubble Bubble, Crystal Caves, Shogo MAD, Duke Nukem 3D, Unreal 1 (I even bought these last 3 ORIGINALS! :O), Quake 3, Alien VS Predator 2... amidst my teenage hormone rage I enjoyed Metal & Lace, Seasons of the Sakura, Nocturnal Illusions, Runaway City, Three Sisters' Story.

-Arcade vers of Rygar, City Connection, Sunset Riders, TMNT 2.5D, Knights of the Round, World Heroes 2 and Power Instinct (to mention the lesser known fighters... fighters are my favs, actually), MvC1, Pump it Up (first versions, though).

Considering the amount of fighters (or easy-to mugenize), it means I like having my stuff mugenized.
Considering the amount of time I've played PiU, it means I like stepmania.
Considering that all these are pretty easy to get, it means I like emulation.
:D

Considering all the above, I think I have a problem. :P

Pokemon Silver- Do you have any idea how many hours I wasted on this game?! I wasted about amont of 300 hours. Me and my friends would always come over to have a Pokemon Battle! Me and some of my old friends are gonna do the same thing once Heart Gold and Soul Silver comes out!

Final Fantasy 1 (PS1 port) - This has got to be my Frist RPG I'ver ever beaten when I was 9. Me and my older brother would share the same file and what we would do is level grind all the time to get to the harder levels.

I got to think more because there has to be more games

River City Ransom - The first video game I ever played.
Megaman 2 - One of the first games I ever played, and the one that really got me into video games as much as I am.
Pokemon R/B/Y and G/S/C - Same as everyone else, these games practically devoured my childhood.
Spyro the Dragon - Not sure why now, but I remember being completely blown away by this game when I first got it, enough so to leave a lasting memory to this day.
Earthbound - One of the quirkiest games I've ever played, and still one of my favorite games of all time.
Final Fantasy VII - First RPG I ever played.
Guitar Hero 2 - Sparked a long running addiction to music/rhythm games.
Psychonauts - Is simply made out of win.  'Nuff said.

METAL GEAR
MONSTER HUNTER. Try it and actually PLAY IT. With friends, you could actually chug up to 300+ hours into that game.
Pokemon Crystal. I was amazed how the Pokemawn actually started moving. Also, I never expected that final battle with Red. The champion theme was just awesome. Especially against Red. The latter Pokemawn games sucked though. Dunno why.. It just sucked.
Kingdom Hearts II. A LONG GAME to finish. Longer than METAL GEAAAAAAR.
The entire Sonic series. (namely it's 2d predecessors and Sonic Battle on the GBA) All the 3d games sucked.
Resident Evil 4
Jeanne D' Arc

Though, there wasn't any game comparable to:

SHINING FORCE teh original. the gba remake wasn't bad tho

Of course he will not name call you since you own him. I mean, I'd be pretty pissed if my dog name called me.

  • Three times thicker font than a normal user.
Let's see, games with a special place in my heart (but not necessarily my top favorites)

Resident Evil 2, for I blame it for leading me down the path that made me what I am today.
Gain Ground/Mercs/Sub-Terrania/Maximum Carnage- The 4 main Genesis games I played
Tekken 3, the first non MK fighting game I owned.
Zone of the Enders, one of the first PS2 games I played.
Armored Core, one of the first PS1 games I played, although at the time it was just a demo.
Tales of Phantasia
Quote
Imagine a zanguief runing to attack ryu, ryu does a quick+kind of weak fast punch and hit the chest of zanguief, will this punch be enough to zanguief say/think \"oh no, this punch hurted a little, I better stop the attack and put my hand on my chest to help contain the pain while ignoring if ryu is going to make other attacks now"

Excuse my long post, but these are, after all..games that hold a special place in my heart!

Castlevania - Symphony of The Night : A decade later and this is still the best (In terms of presentation) 2d Castlevania game. Seriously, CD quality music, great animation, great gameplay, graphics, audio, etc. The DS games try..and those games are good, but in order to have a perfect Metroidvania game you just have to have the best of everything, not just graphics and gameplay as the DS games have shown.

Also, SOTN is a game I used to play with my brother and cousin during the holidays when my family would visit and we'd be in the other room, sooooo on a personal level it means a lot to me too. ;)

Mega Man X2 : Although I loved all the SNES X games, this was my favorite. It just had a good balance to it. It wasn't too excessive in terms of obtainable items like X3 was, yet it wasn't as "simple" as X1. That and Wheel Gator's song + stage is just an overload of bad-assery.

Oh..and before I had a decent computer or internet, it was obviously much harder to play rare games. Seeing as I couldn't just download roms. So yeah, years after X2 came out and I had first rented it, I pretty much never saw it anywhere. Then the one day I did see it..it was used at an EB games for like $50. I was a kid, didn't exactly have that kind of money.

But I did see it again like a year later for around $25, and of course bought it. I have treasured it since.  :P

Oh and..

Marvel Vs Capcom : The first one of course. I still remember being a little kid, going to the arcade with my brother. He had told me about this awesome fighting game with Mega Man, Strider, Venom, even War Machine and basically a shitload of Marvel and Capcom characters. So I remember seeing a big ass crowd around the arcade machine, barely able to see anything. But I remember seeing Strider fighting Onslaught..and wow. I mean at the time that was pretty much the biggest freakin' fighting game boss of all time. So yes, I was beyond amazed. :D

Thankfully I own both the Dreamcast and Playstation versions. I let a friend borrow Guilty Gear X one day, but someone stole it from him. Therefore he gave me back $20 and MVC for PSX. I know, I ripped him off, but shit who cares.

Magical Quest Starring Mickey Mouse (SNES): The first game that Mickey Mouse proved he was a bad-ass. He would've kicked his black-robe-wearing counterpart in KH2 in the ass.

Dance Dance Revolution (Arcade): Hahaha, I remember when I used to be awesome at this game. Man the memories.

Street Fighter Alpha 3: I don't care what anyone says, this was my favorite Street Fighter. Ever. And the World Tour Mode in the PSOne version rocked (didn't have a dreamcast so I can't comment on that :( ).

A special place...uhh
  • Rogue Galaxy (PS2) - I don't know why, but I just love space-pirate storylines. The Disney movie, Treasure Planet. Probably my #1 favorite movie. Gameplay, weapons, & costumes as well were all fun.
  • Final Fantasy V, VII, VIII, IX, & Tactics (PS1/PS2) - All of them had great storylines imo. VIII was and still is my favorite. I could play that game over and over just for the story alone.
  • Disgaea 2: Cursed Memories (PS2) - Again, loved the storyline. I always like a story with a protagonist & a heroine who are enemies at first, but then it develops into love later on. And I love tactical games like Disgaea.

Bushido: Way of the warrior
Cool, someone who has played this game who isn't me. It was kinda awsome. Well a bit awsome. And paratrooper too. Awsome.

And Freezy Frienzy was better than Pango(almost identical games), but if you have not played it, i guess you have no reason to "have a special place in your heart" for it.

I am thinking of adding Thrill Kill to my list(anyone played it?). It would go in both my list of best, and worst fighting games.
Also Soul Reaver(that spelling looks wrong!), may have to be added, but i got dissappointingly(That looks wrong too) stuck. Stuck because of a puzzle. The 3rd worst reason to be stuck. 1st is a bug, 2nd is a swich or key you cant find(its usually looks like part of a wall you pass countless times, and is angled so you don't usually look at it as you pass).

Grandia II: First RPG I ever played. I was in late-primary school, and this was when I first started playing video games for more than 2+ hours in one sitting. That doesn't sound like much, but before that I use to always get off at around 1 hour. The dialogue in this game is fantastic (though some jokes I didn't really understand until later..haha), music is amazing and overall gameplay just mindblowing for me back then. I could fire this up and play it again anyday.

Pokemon Blue/Pokemon Silver/Pokemon Stadium: Wow I could cry thinking about these times. I use to sit in front of the TV at my Grandma's, playing N64 for 1 hour periods. I was amazed to find out you could use one of those Game Pak things and connect the catridge to the Pokemon Stadium game, and then be able to use my own Pokemon to beat the leaders. Those were the worry-free days.. well I was worrying about how to get to Kanto in Pokemon Silver at the time. XD

Fatal Fury: The one where you could only choose Andy, Joe or Terry. I use to watch my dad play this (I was like 2 or something) and it was one of my earliest exposures to video games. I use to love watching Terry's power wave back then (the animation is spiffy, the KOF one nowadays is just underwhelming). I remember trying to beat Geese but failing, and half-crying going to my dad and telling him to beat him. Haha.

Street Fighter 2: Some old one I don't remember because I was like 2 at the time. Same deal as Fatal Fury, I use to watch my dad play it. I tried of course, but I remember not being able to do a Hadouken and getting rather pissed. I use to really like watching the intro where there's a white guy and black guy and one of them gets punched.

Gran Turismo 3: A period of my primary school days where I use to play this with my dad. Yes it's always with my dad because back then he used to be better than me at video games XD. Best driving game ever, that is all.

The PS2, Sega Genesis and N64 are the consoles that made up my childhood. Unforgettable.
