What are some games that you never think you've would known about if it wasn't for Mugen? It's pretty neat hearing about games I never knew about and/or existed.

For starters, although I had heard of it, I knew close to nil about Asuka 120% until a couple months ago.

This, and I'll add Big Bang Beat. Knowing both started as eroges was quite a shocker for me at first, but got used to them. I'd add Arcana Heart too.

I learned what Segare Ijjiri was. And I'm happy about that. There was also Rakuga Kids, most Amiga stuff, Doraemon (which I learned about that SNES Doraemon game.) Saturday Night Slam Masters, Persona, some doujins(Not FK stuff, EFZ, knew what TH was due to a "HARDEST BOSS EVER" video, and a few others) DoA, Battle K Road, Guilty Gear, KOF, and AH.
Expect nothing, but remeber everything.+ I am tired. Future spot for Doraemon in MvC picture, the second I learn to create it. (Even further: Pepsiman for Mvc picture.) Insert random Doraemon anime .gif. (Also, Pac-Man Delta whaling on a MLP character .gif........) Now, Wipeout....... OTHER STUFF? Needs blue SSB 64 Mario in tornado .gif......... Add Super Mario Fighters 3 sprite here........ Also, now doing KFA stuff...

I can't think of any.  Not any that immediately come to mind at least.  Probably some obscure DOS or bootleg game but even then I probably know about it because of Melvana first.

  • I bite the faces of people who don't wanna be cool
Since I'm a boring guy that really only pays attention to releases from games I've played I can't say MUGEN made discover new games as much as friends in the MUGEN community did. They brought weird arcade fighting games hardly anyone has heard of like Survival Arts and Doujin games like Melty Blood to my attention.

I'm also under the impression that people keep neglecting data from the game, do you guys know how PotS made his original characters? He actually studied every single game he referenced, down to the core. Doing this properly requires understanding how the original system was made, not just winging it.

I got into MUGEN after discovering MVC2 and CVS2 (both of which got me to look into games by Capcom and SNK), so, SNK and Capcom Fighters were already known to me.

I had also known About Arc System works and Touhou because of a friend, however I had no idea that Touhou had fighting games until MUGEN.

So, I guess Melty Blood and Doujin Fighting games in general were shown to me through MUGEN.

I also found out about Battle K-Road and Variable Geo through it all. And Tokidensho Angel Eyes.

I would never have known about Melty Blood and, by extension, Tsukihime if it wasn't for MUGEN.

Mostly Doujin fighters but for example:
-Yatagarasu
-Daemon Bride
-Melty Blood
-Big Bang Beat
-Rising Eclipse
-Dynamite bomb
-Ougon Musou Kyoku
-Genpei Tou Ran/The Genji and Heike Fight War
-Xuan Dou Zhi Wang/King of Combat: I still haven't been able to try this but i really want to. I just want to see how similar it is compared to KOF.

Rage of the Dragons, but besides that I got more familiar with all these different games because of it, like sure I knew what KoF that was but I never really dabbled into it until I used characters from it in Mugen.
