Gouken Summer 09 update
here is a new patched gouken.

whats new:

2 new fireballs

he can throw his medium diagonal now( i was going to do this a long time ago but Blood riot wanted me to do it for the edit sf4 version)

both his lp and his mp are chargable now.

so more sf4 like.


what else is new:

tweaked his light hurrican kick and his air hurrican kick to be more sf4 like.

light kick  version acts like a normal version of ryu's ex

and the air hurrican kick moves horizontal like in sf4.


new effects:

the shin sho ryu ken............... just do the move you will see.


AI version 2: more agressive and it ill use the sho sho ryuken

Great! Testing it right now.

I'll point the obvious visual problems I see...have to leave in a bit.

The first problem I've found is in his looping idle stance, his sprite's seem missaligned towards the end.

There's still many palette problems as well in some anims, mainly in his pants, beard & hair:
- The palette with the purple pants has grey in the pants and in some instances the colors switch from one leg to the other.
- On that one Bruce Lee-like Flying Dragon Kick there's also a very light unwanted color in the pants.

Other than that...That air downward kick super is the shit...I don't know if it was like that before.  8)

Keep perfecting him, it's gonna be a great char when you're done.

Okay:
- 1st Sprite has the Palette where the pants have 2 different colors (Grey and Purple) that switch from leg to leg while in level 3 stance.
- 2nd Sprite is the last Sprite in the level 3 stance that appears missaligned and also I've circled a part were it's missing shade colors shown on other sprites in the loop.
- 3rd Sprite, I've highlighted the wrong colored pixels in yellow so you can go check it out in the SFF.
- Also, the Back Dodge Animation is where most of the Sprites have a Purple color in the Hair that doesn't look right at all.

If I see more I'll let you know.

but if its something that i can use to eliminate stuff from the bugs list then by all means
do anything you can do to help.

"Downloads" is on the left part of the website under "Login" and "Choose Theme" Boxes.

as for the sprites and the stance i will fix those easy.

Like I've said before elsewhere...I'm not good with spotting clsn bugs and other Char code technicalities, but anything visual-wise I can spot.

Strange how when a char has 1000 bugs, and somebody points out 5 of them, then the other people can't point out the 995 other bugs. These 995 bugs must be hidden and very hard to find ?! Gotta find'em all !!!

For further information about the bugs, just refer to previous feedback by Cybaster, La Miss Fairy, Wild Tengu, RajaaBoy, ESFAndy011, etc.
And no, don't come with "you didn't even test the new update, many things were fixed !!!" :

One year old problem ... yeah right ! Stance is an animation which barely appears, so it's something hard to spot and fix ...

My problem with finding bugs in a char is similar with me finding pokemons on gameboy, you just don't know where they are located and how they are gonna appear  ???

Don't remove it though, just add ctrl = 1 in the triggers and you're set. Also put p2statetype = C for the low parry and p2statetype!=C for the high standing type.

Anyway, what's up with his "AAEEEEEHHH" scream in his shin shoryuken? It's as if somebody shoved a cork up his ass... and why does a hit sound play even though I don't hit anyone? You should really fix those.

His hitboxes are a bit low in his walking fwd and backward anims and overall need more cleaning up. Oh and his full power stance is pretty misaligned... one of the frames I think.

Seriously, stop adding things to him. Just stop! Fix what needs to be fixed and THEN add/change things. Honestly alex, at this rate, sometimes I just need to convince myself to download your stuff. Seriously.



i fixed the following:

1)the power stance alinment animation so it doesnt make his foot  does mis the plane.

2)the parry has the  trigger all =  crtl=1 ( this has changed his behavoir and he is doing more of what i wanted him to do AI wise) ai wont cut into moves anymore with parry from what i've tested



3)low parry was already changed to
p2statetype = C


4) for the side kick and heavy hurrican kick i am looking at what makes the kof fighters flicker. i might have to change the animation cause it was set for 3rd strike animations .


90% of esfandy's  was applied.


3) tweaked the AI a bit in case  some see him as spamming stuff. now he will use more of his supers.

4) made the hit boxes for the walking right.

Whats the point of having supers that are weaker than his tatsumaki senpuuken ?

Why does his beard inflate in his power stance ?

Nope, his CLNS are a bit messy as well.

then you might want to tell gm that since i used the base from his 3rd strike characters
and had to reduce the amount of boxes in the begining. so i think you
ned to download one of gm chars and take a look.


i took out the sgs last night. and will have him focus on other moves now.
i removed the extra flashy shin sho ryuu ken hit sparks in favor of some more
simple yet effective ones.

and i will be fixing the trust kick and heavy hurrican kick so the chars dont flicker
anymore and that should be it. i think but i am sure someone will find something else for me to remove

its nice to see that people on MFG are a lot ncer than the pricks on MI. Hey, Alexlexus, instead of making him MvC style, why not just make him just like he plays on SF4. I think that would be simpler.

In My Opinion (or In My Humble Opinion for IMHO).

Though, in all honesty, while removal of the SGS and stuff is a step in the right direction, Gouken is still very, very FUBAR.

Also, if you happen to make SF3 Sagat sprites, send me the sprites before you make a character, k?

Good to see you're still trying to update your char.

-I must point out that his lvl 3 stance is still misaligned. Maybe you could open him up in MCM and simply move the sprites so that the feet are exactly in the same place throughout the animation.
-I think you might want to find electrical sparks that are less cumbersome.
-If you perform one normal attack, his transition back to his lvl 3 stance looks very choppy. This might be fixed by speeding up the transition anim, or adding more frames.
-I'm not a fan of the floating beard. I don't believe every little twitch causes wind to rustle through gi, beads, and beard in dramatic fashion.
-certain attacks just don't hit if you are too close to the opp.
-This is one that really gets me because it's so common, and should be a no brainer: if you jump in one direction and pass your opp, he still faces the direction he is going - not facing the opp. And you don't even have to be holding the direction the whole time. I even let go of the d-pad after he started the jump and only touched it again as he was in the landing anim so he could start another jump, still facing the wrong direction. That's just plain unacceptable.
-He doesn't combo very smoothly. If you have your opp in the corner and you start with LP, you get pushed too far back and can't follow up with anything. Other attacks which could conceivably combo do not.
-D,DF,F+k does not pull the opp in, so only the first hit connects and actually pushes the opp away. All hits only connect at point blank range.
-D,DB,B+LK only the first and last kicks of the tatsumaki hit.
-in air D,DF,F+MK and only MK???
-What's the difference between all air fireballs? The damage perhaps? Their movement is the same.
-I haven't tried him out against people yet, but I can sense that the air fireball hyper is gonna miss many opponents by shooting over their heads. Maybe he shouldn't be propelled upwards before he releases the projectile.
-Shin Shoryuken hyper makes hit sound even if it doesn't connect.
-D,DB,B+p seems pretty useless unless you keep it as a hyper, used sparingly and with hyper properties. The waves don't hit the opp at their edges and if the opp is close, he can walk through Gouken and switch sides with low possibility of damage.
-K throw does not actually throw, and if you were intending a slam, it looks even less like it.
-IMO B,D,DB+k is not needed. Why not replace it with a counter attack, since you're going with the sf4 two-tone palette?
-Speaking of sf4, why not try to get the voice and make an sf4 .snd file?

Although I may have listed a number of issues, I still like this char. I think it's good you want to keep working on him and sharing him with the mugen community. He's better now than when you first released him. Just don't let him languish with minor flaws. Thanks.
