well as the title suggestsI discovered MUGEN by looking at some youtube vids showing Rock Howard vs. Geese Howard and I thought they never come together in any game and investigated and found out about MUGEN
clicked a link in a cosplay forum that tsukasa regularly visits... tsukasa thinks it was 8 or 9 months ago
On a newstand, looking for Cd's and magazines on "how to make your own games". one of the engines on the CD was MUGEN.
youtube. been watching some good old classical videos like gGuardion's Link vs Sephiroth, (then later, my own) Link and supermario vs Broily, Wario vs Guile, and a few other nintendo characters battling other characters.and after some research, I've gotten into mugen.
i shall forever remember how i got into mugensaw a screenshot of someone using NudePsylocke, shooting psychic butterfly blasts from her cooch, with the caption "ONLY IN MUGEN!"sold

Searching for CVS3 to see if there was anything and stumbled upon a forum saying get the CVS3 Beta then after some quick research found out it was mugen

First it was some video of Team Nicktoons and Shao Kahn vs someone I forget (Summer 2007), then a crappy video of Scorpion and Sub-Zero vs Nightmare SSJ (this began my hate for that piece of shit Nightmare) around February 2007. About a month and a half later, I'm really bored, and I try it out of bored curiosity. I end up keeping it.Both videos are gone now, btw.
Back in 2004 (didn't join the community at that time though) when it came packaged in a game magazine's CD.
LOL forever ago back when Nunor reigned supreme.I think I found a bunch of marvel characters for Mugen on accident looking for Freedom Force characters.

Someone was playing a Dragon Ball Z Mugen full game at school. I liked it, so it turned to be a pastime for us.Eventually, I found out that Mugen isn't a Dragon Ball Z game.
I downloaded a FM character some years ago. When i decompressed it there was no .player file, but some .sff, .cns and stuff.
A friend of mine from another forum I belong to started a thread asking if anyone else there had ever heard of mugen a while back. I hadn't, but it got me interested. What ultimately sold me on it was a YouTube video of DDR's Popeye versus some Street Fighter character because at the time, the idea of having Popeye in a fighting game was beyond hilarious.
I don't remember Judgespear being a mugen guy... I know him for his Mario Kingdom Fusion fan game.Person Man said, April 04, 2009, 08:09:07 pmA friend of mine from another forum I belong to started a thread asking if anyone else there had ever heard of mugen a while back. Yeah, he used to play MUGEN till Youtube deleted his first account. A shame he went on to make that mess of a Mario fangame, but life goes on, I guess. =/
I like his fan game. Too bad he couldn't do it by scratch. I wouldn't mind helping him with his endeavors.
In a cafe on my college campus about 4 years ago...It caught my eye because I thought somebody was playing a new Street Fighter that I somehow never heard about. The characters used in the match I first saw were Ryu and Ken from SF3, but I knew the stage they were playing on wasn't from any of the SF3 games. The guys surrounding the laptop watching with me explained briefly what I was seeing, and it took me awhile to soak it all in. Quickly after, I made it my mission to have an incredible mugen set-up, got controller adapters and the whole shabang.
Eh, like most people, Youtube.More specifically, it was a clip show of a tournament, which all I could remember contained Chain Chomp and Super Metroid. I looked up some more videos, and eventually downloaded it myself. Pretty basic story, bleh.
actually for me a friend of mine introduced me to that naruto game where all the charcters were chibi. the window's name was M.U.G.E.N and I looked it up later on was on youtube trying to figure out how to install characters. didn't wanna read that long ass read me to play a fighting game
Looked for some Family Guy videos (yeah I was a ginormous FG fan years ago, bear with me) and I found all these Mugen videos with Peter in them. At the time, I didn't know what Mugen was, so I didn't pay attention to them. However, months later, I got into Mugen by watching a few videos. I was interested and downloaded a bunch of characters and music and stages. I was hooked for months until I accidentally deleted my file with all the stuff. Now I'm currently returning my Mugen to it's previous state.

I brought Mugen into cybercafes from a pendrive, and usually a lot of people literally stare at the computer screen looking at a game they have never seen before. It is amusing to see them trying to search out Mugen even though it doesn't exist on the computers.Found Mugen from watching Hare Hare Yukai dances. I stumbled to a "Haruhi and Kyon vs. Tsuruya and Mikuru"
My cousin introduced me to it and i couldn't believe itwatching goku fighting ryu after i finally got it i stayed with the same roster for monthsuntil my cousin showed me how to add chars and stages and after a bit of messing around with it i learned a lot but yet to make any creations due starting a char and never havingthe motivation to finish it
By a magazine, remembered the Elecbyte site, but couldn't find it. After a while i found it, it was closen. So i searched via Google. And voila, the Randomselect site leaded me to the way to mugen
I think i was in High School at the time, in my computer class downloading games when i first stumbled upon Mugen.
At college watching a guy playing as Broli beat up two people at a time one was Mario and Goku, Liu Kang and Ryu, Even Fat Albert and Kintaro got wiped out Eventually poeple got tired of losing and gave me the controller. Since I knew I was going to die I picked 8 bit mario as a joke. I ended up winning since he was so small and seeing 8-bit Mario beat Broli by just jumping on his head pretty much sold me on Mugen.
Well, just one day when I was at Vincent's Kof 99 page, I was impressed with the edited Kof99 screenshots as some are hillarious to watch, then I stumbled across a picture of Ryu vs Blue Mary in a waterfall stage. I thought, "Hmm, interesting edited screenshot..." then notice the word posted: "This is not an edited screenshot!. This is Mugen, 2D fighting game engine. (version year 2000) And so, since then I've been a Mugen fan. That's about it. How nostalgic...

PhatRabbit said, April 12, 2009, 02:41:44 pmDBZ: ME2 thanks to older brother back in early 2002. ME1 here. But in 1998/1999But it's cute how most of you say YouTube... 1998/1999 was way before its time. Back then it was all about dial up. I recall downloading a full game using a pay as you go (per minute) service because my free dial up internet cuts me every 2 hours, and "DAP" (Download Accelerator Plus, if it still exists) didn't support resuming from that particular site.
also 98-99dial-up FTW too (yes, DAP still exist today, even support torrents and emule now if I recall)a friend and neighbour of mine from the jr.HS (probably walt knows him too, i dunno) sent me the mugen engine for the first time through hyperterminal (like a lan, but using the phone) and a couple of chars... KY from the first GG (psx) and the axe armor alucard, from then onward, never stopped (the only thing halting me now is HD space actually, damn PSP), I was fresh new in the HS by theneventually ended in TESTP (every once in a while everyweek), then Mugendev, and Mrev, asked o.herman for some pointers in updating his chars to mugen for xp, etc. (I can still reach him sometimes by email), the guild when it opened the forums (check this account)....dissapering from the forums after elecbyte closed, appearing every 4 months or so after that (work, school, the usual stuff)...well, it has been a long run...never released something to the public, always some crazy ideas for myself, like a char I tried to make with a friend using poser, it worked but too much of a hassle to actually wanted it to be finished...now I've found some tools that I wasn't aware of, and started pulling of together a saint seiya screen pack for HR mugen, now I don't know when it's going to be finished, I need a new HD
Was online searching for the maximus arcade frontend for my arcade cabinet, cameacross a video and couldn't understand how the guy in the vid had a game with everycharacter I could dream of. Eventually googled Mugen and fell in love lol!
Unfortunately I can`t remember how I found Mugen, but my guess is I was searching for an emulator game and came across some Mugen site.
Found a picture of Yuyuko on some site, searched for the word "Yuyuko" in hope of finding out which anime she is from, found a youtube video with Yuyuko in it that mentioned mugen...the funny thing is I found mugen before I found IAMP which she is originally from.
One Summer day a few years ago, myself and my siblings are searching for Haruhi episodes when we ran into MUGEN fights of Yuki battling many other characters. My siblings' interest is short lived. But my interest is forever.the rest is history.
Like 99% of the posters - YouTube. It was kind of funny, it started as a "bar argument" with my friend (neither of us are old enough to drink. Better description is "sleep deprivation argument") between who would win in a fight - Homer Simpson or Peter Griffin.Wah-lah - YouTube. Some many months later, I meet a guy on GameFAQs. We talk on MSN, we're good buds now. He reshows me M.U.G.E.N, I finally download it. I enjoy it.
I remember that i was playing KOF Zillon by mugen china. When i open the game i see that MUGEN logo and i want to know what was it.I discover it in google and youtube in year 2009.And than i learn it.
I was playing with that crap KOF91 engine when I heard about Mugen on a download site (www.superdownloads.com.br), like TuCows. That was back in December 1999
Rajaa said, May 16, 2009, 06:56:14 pmI woke and decided to google the word "MUGEN" out of no where.hmm, interesting
Hey, my name is Des. Im new to MUGEN as I signed up a couple days ago. Anyways, I became interested in MUGEN when I saw MugenHunter's Sonic fight Shin Ryoga's SuperMario. That battle impressed me in more ways than one.

I saw a youtube vid called "Tetsu Yatogi, your asskicker", looked very 80s cartoony. That's pretty much what got me here.
Therio said, April 04, 2009, 08:52:36 pmWas searching for porn, misclicked on a MUGEN site.TRUE STORYI was looking for Porn and found it, both the porn and the mugen that is, on the same site. That was in 1999/2000, it was harder to find porn then.
I found a crappily compiled DBGT mugen with like 8 characters back in like 2001. Then I found DBZ Mugen Edition 2, which led me to finding out that mugen has tons of characters, stages, and etc that can be added.
ARCoolguy said, May 17, 2009, 08:30:19 amare you telling the truthNah, I'm telling the opposite of what is actually a lie if I was telling the truth, but I'm not since I'm lying about the fact that I'm telling the truth about the lie I told somewhere in this retarded sentence.
in '02, planet emu dot net, looking for roms for emulators and linking on to shin mugen, downloaded it and all. i couldn't get the chars to work so i put it aside.then in '06 i found win mugen and a youtube tutorial, and now i play MU_gEN.

youtubeI originaly fond it when looking for tales of stuff, then found it agian when going around for mario stuff.I used to watchit all the time on youtube untill I saw one of judgespear's videos. That made me go for mugen. Now I have a roster that has over 100 chars. The only reason it got me interested was that it had every character from videogames and animes that I liked.
The Emulator Zone forum. Someone posted about "anyone hearing about a game called Mugen." I saw a screenshot of Superman with capcom sprites, and the excitement was overwhelming. So then, I started doing lots of searches, and found a lot of different things on it. And that was all.
from the time I bought a PC CDrom version of KoF, and that's not the last time I fell for such interesting looking cover, I bought SNK vs CAPCOM, and KoF 2005 so yea some people judge by the cover & never learn
I don't remember well...I just remember I was looking for cheat codes for the Visual Boy Advance emulator to use Omega Zero in the Rockman Zero 3 game. , then I found N-Mario's creation and threw all the gamesharks to the recycle bin.

THis was back in 2001. I was in highschool and my friends told me that somebody had a game in the computer lab which had cloud fighting goku and pikachu fighting ryu. I didn't believe at first until i went home and researced it and was amazed.
Youtube. I was searching, saw the Mugen Movie and was amazed. After that, I spent hours looking up other Mugen vids and learned that Mugen is a game you must customize, not one where you download and voila!, have all the characters and stages. Later, I heard about Mugen Guild and decided to join. Well, here I am.
I was walkign down the street minding my business, when a rabbit crossed my path and jumped down a hole. When I went to peek in the whole something shrunk me and then I was sucked into the hole. I chased the rabbit and when I lost breath I found myself in a strange world. There I met MUGEN and we had tea together. Was nice if you ask me, MUGEN has gotten rotten over time, though. Not the MUGEN I met so long ago.
Arklionheart said, June 22, 2009, 10:48:07 amI was searching for nude Mai Shiranui... I honestly have to believe that I found out about it while sitting on a toilet at a carnival and ka-blam-oh!! KFM broke in and vomited all over me and since then I inherited his powers No seriously Zeckle was trying to sell it to me while claiming licensed rights to Kirby A walrus bit me Okay okay - TRUTHFULLY I was looking for a MvC online fighter and I googled onto a warehouse called "TheHiddenElect" which helped out a noob like no other and immediately brought me into the world of 2D WAR!!!!Serving as a disciple I learned the history of it all and much at the same time the meaning of sharing Which I owe to a little spammer (DarkMario666) and a long time friend named (Deidra) and eventually mugen creating from the long lost leader (Zodiac) After a certain greedy individual drove out our establishment I followed a veteran (BigSally) and kept me in the game until I was strong enough to fend for myselfMy travels have brought me to many mugen locations like Scruffy(hostile),SonicX(great people), IMT, MFG, MI, etc. (in that order)So that's my rich origin and Legend
Was going through a fighting game phase at the time and found MUGEN via Youtube.Any character you want + great community = Win.
The stork was delivering some eggs and it flew over my house, the stork accidentally dropped Mugen down my chimney on a little parachute. Luckily, it was a hot summer day, or else, I would have had some roasted Mugen.
youtube and seen evil en and evil ryu kick ass like they never should lol, then I saw broli vs some KOF modded akuma (Ogre) and that was it.

I was watching Samurai Champloo and decided to google to know more about the characters. When I came with Mugen, it showed me some videos on youtube about the MUGEN fighting game. The very first one that I saw was Peter Griffin versus Homer Simpson. I saw the video, and I was like, "What th--? .........Sweeeeeeet!!". It was awesome. I saw some more vids of MUGEN, and that's when I've decided to download it. Such a cool thing MUGEN is and it's so easy to use it in terms of adding chars, stages, etc.
I was playing the ROM version of Kof 2002 and I was irritated that King wasn't in. I tried finding a hacked version or a way I could download King then put her in the game. I came across MMR's site and saw all the characters for download. I was like "whaaaa...??" then I learned what Mugen was.
Rajaa said, July 27, 2009, 11:51:52 pmIt was passed down in my family from generation to generation as a heirloom. Let me guess... divided by infinity?I found mugen when I received five letters. I got the last letter first, then the letter after qwerty, after that the absolute middle letter, the third letter before flowers, and finally the penultimate letter.
Honestly: I was about to bite into a delicious chocolate bar, so I opened to package and there I saw a gold ticket, the ticket was part of some contest to get a tour of the Mugen factory, a factory of which I had never heard of before. So I continued on begging in the street for a few days since my family was poor. In a few days was the event tour to see the factory and there were 5 other people who won the contest. We had a tour of the factory, all the other people ended up doing something silly and dangerous and had to be promptly escorted out of the factory, so it was only me left. At the end of owner of the Mugen factory Milly Monka said that I was so honest and innocent that he would like to give me my own copy of Mugen for free. I took the copy home and begin making characters and selling them for money, my family then became rich and we eventually bought the Mugen Factory.

Ok, here's my real discovery:I was sitting under a tapak tree, not knowing what to do. I was really bored so I was thinking what to do, when a CD cover fell down from the tree at hit my head. Obviously my head hurts, and I saw the words MUGEN in it, so I was wondering: "Why do MUGENs fall from trees?" So I did a long research by googling the Internet, and I discovered gravity. I theorise that Earth sucks in MUGEN by gravity, and no matter how light or how heavy the amount of characters in MUGEN are, they will still drop to earth at 9.8 meters per second. People even made a SI unit for MUGEN weight, which is Electbyte. Every 10 characters or 5 stages is 1 Electbyte. Also, in honor of the person who got hit by copies of MUGEN on top of trees, people also made the Charat system as another unit to measure Electbytes. 2.2 Charats equals to 1 Electbyte. Gradually in the future, this theory will become Charat's First Law.
