I guess really this is about, how good do you think you re at fighting games? I know they all don't play the same, but what I mean I guess was if you get a new fighting game and sit down with it for a while and learn it's mechanics, how good do you think you are them?Personally, I'm TERRIBLE. I can't play fighting games worth crap.
Very good actually...as long as the game is in PC...i suck at consoles with the exception to the Tekken series
Average player. With games playing old style, such as KOF or SF, I'm fine. Not fantastic, but more than okay. However, when it comes to the new BBB, GGXX or HnK "let's smash basic buttons into 70 hit combos", I'm very shitty.
Pretty good. I usually know a variety of combos and tricks for my favourite characters from the back of my hand. The only problems with me is I don't block much (I'm pretty aggressive). So like I said I'm pretty good.Except at Street Fighter Alpha

I consider myself a real good player in sf games and tekken ones. As for gg bb and most crossover I suck, except for svc spent many hours playing that machine.
I'm good in some games where I've nearly mastered a few characters (K', K9999 and Joe in KoF 2k2 for example) but I also suck against certain types of players (expert grappler players, cyanide-style annoying LOWHIGHLOWHIGHPOKEPOKE tactics, etc.)

Depends, really; I don't get much of a chance to fight against other people. Amongst casuals I'm a regular fighting game god, amongst the hardcore set I'm good but mortal. If it's a Tekken game before 6, no matter who I'm with I'm in the lower levels of the pantheon.
Nothing to see here. said, November 17, 2009, 05:17:35 pmI never loseI never lose against people who never lose.

Decent reaction and average level combos plus mindplay and change of tactics. Just never had the time to sit in training for hours to master pro level combos (specifically, all those EX mode combos in KOF or long focus cancel combos in SF4).
Since good is really subjective I can say accomplishments and people can use that to determine levels of skill. People saying "I know combos" varies from someone thinking crouch forward hadouken is a combo, to people who consistently pull ToDs in matches. In SFIV:out of 8 games against John Choi played at Keystone 3 on American sticks I won 4 with my Boxer. In Evo 2K9 I made it to winners finals for my pool.at 256 man bracket nor cal tourney I got tied 17th placeI'm at around 40% wins v Ricky Ortiz's Rufus *Haven't played him since he switched to Chun sadly >.<*Double Perfected by Buktooth's Fuerte 2 out of 9 games In ST/HDR:I'm 1-2 with Jason Cole *Rog v Sim*I've taken tied 4th in a big Nor cal tourney. (64 man bracket I think)XvSF:(LOL FAIL)I went 1-2 with liquidmetalX or whatever that Canadian player's name was, though I just landed a lucky cyke infinite the round I won, and the other 2 I was destroyed.I can only infinite with part of the cast. >.<MvC2:I'm learning this now and I'm sure Rollx3 could beat me right now.SNK games... I love them but I fail at them. >.>BB/GG... again, I love them, but haven't had the opportunity to play a lot of good people yet.Combo wise I'm average but I have good Yomi. I have ok Execution (Why I'm learning marvel), and fairly nice footsies. I can often force mistakes from people, but get greedy with meaties when it's not a good idea occasionally.

Extremely terrible, with some bursts of luck (SSF2HDR, the only fighting game I managed to get all achievements. actually, the only game. period. (not counting dash of destruction)).I play fighting games due to the excellent cathartic element it provides to my mind. My mind set was actually made for fighting games, I just don't know how to become good at them.
You know, I've changed my mind. When it comes to Dragon Ball Z Budokai Tenkaichi 3, I'm pretty dang good that I know of, seeing as I only had computers ad one friend to play against. But that just might be because the Tenkaichi games took out combos unlike the first three budokai games. And I suck at combos. And once, on TMNT Tournament Fighters, I was able to figure out this one spam move for this chick on it. I won the match with it. I then proceeded to lose pretty bad from then on out again. I won 1/21 matches I too am less likely to block. Heck I dont even know how to block on most games. No I change my mind again, I think I was fairly average at Bloody Roar 2 as Stun the insect. but other wise I suck.
I suck real bad IMO, but all in all I think I'm average.Spoiler, click to toggle visibiltyIn SF4 online I win 1 out 5 matches on average, so the whole thing is really a masochistic hobby for me.In SF3 I was able to beat all my friends but we never played on a very serious level, barely even parried at all.I can defend myself in pretty much any KOF, but my peak was 98/99. After that I kinda lost track on the subsystems.I never touch any 3D fighting games like Tekken or Soulcalibur, nor anything published by ArcSystems or Sammy.I think I'm a casual gamer, and mostly oldschool.
Above average. I'm not used to losing in fighting games against anyone except my brother, and even that's changing now.
I'm decent as long as I concentrate in one game at a time. Right now I can be pretty challenging at SF4 but probably noob at KOF.
Im above average. I know this sounds obsessive, but I like to look up who are the best character in the game and find a nice counterpick for that character. For example, at tourneys people like to use MetaKnight in SSBB and Sagat in SF4. The best counterpick for these characters are Falco and Ryu.
4th said, November 18, 2009, 06:26:05 pmthats more like averageWhen you win tourneys, I count that as Above Average. Im just not God status like Mew2King or Daigo Umehara.
I like to think I am pretty decent at the Real Bout Fatal Fury games, enough to fight somewhere near Caddie or Ghostpilot's level. Otherwise, I consider myself eternally "learning".
Given about 2 hours of playtime i can simulate being awesome vs people who have played for a while but are not masters. My style of play is 90% mindgames and timing rather than genuine skill. I can't combo for shit, and lack all the mechanics knowledge.Except in OMF 2097, there you will die.
so your one of those *high jump kick, trip kick* players?goddamit i hated your kind in ssf2hd remix <.<
Hoshi said, November 18, 2009, 03:18:07 amNoah Bennet said, November 18, 2009, 01:54:17 amAbove average.Though I will say that I'm a very good at Virtua Fighter and GGXX#, they're the only fighting games I play on a competitive level and have put aside hundreds of hours into my mains (Eileen/Vanessa and Venom, respectively).
Luis Alejandro said, November 18, 2009, 11:57:27 pmso your one of those *high jump kick, trip kick* players?goddamit i hated your kind in ssf2hd remix <.<hahahaha got it in one. Although if the game doesn't cater to it i do other things.
Hmm... SF: Pretty good at least... but I play awkwardly.KOF games: Well..... Pretty good, at least. Tekken: Good, but Tekken 6... No. (The difficulty is just.. Ugh!!!)Soul Calibur: pretty good, as long as I don't bum-rush.Marvel vs. Capcom: Good as well, just as long as I keep on comboing.Killer Instinct: Look at Marvel vs. Capcom.
in KoF, im pretty good. not good like "god" good but pretty good. In SFIV, im almost near godlike good, but when i go psn, due to the combined players lag, they know my evry move. and its sickening..
I'm a Average player when it comes to most of fighting games. But When it comes to some of SNK games like KOF 98 and Last Blade 2, I'm pretty much a fear
I would like to think I'm fairly decent, but I tend to have really good days and really bad days. Ones where I am completely predictable (hate you anthony ) and ones where I am pretty much beast. 3D games need not apply since I really only play those at home for fun.
depends on the game for me, I think i can give a good challenge on most capcom fighters, but there are several kofs that I feel as if the game is a bunch of memorizing combos and behaviours to try to land the same chains over and over again.Tempest is beast at those kof games.I prefer to pick games i know nothing about than to learn a game through and through , i hate memorizing combos, im either winging it or the only thing i got memorized are the special moves.
I only play RB2. I'm tourney level in it.I have mastered RB2 Duck King. I believe there is not a better Duck King player out there. I'm more than willing to take up anyone who challenges that.
If I never played or barely played a game I can beat scrubs, if I take the time to learn it I give great players a run for their money.
Your progression really showed that on games that you never played. I started playing Jojo with him a while ago, I had tried the game before and he never did.Nowadays he is really hard to defeat
I think I'm pretty good at most fighting games that I play. Been playing them since the early 90's(Like most of us), so I have a lot of experience with them. TempesT said, November 19, 2009, 04:51:38 pm Ones where I am completely predictable (hate you anthony ) Haha!
Depends on the type of game- I suck at guilty gear, blazblue, and Marvel vs. series. Games like KOF, Street Fighter, and Tekken i can hold my own and am usually above average with 1 or 2 characters. (For street fighter it's cammy, KOF it's benimaru or athena, and for tekken it's Ling or Panda.)
Just played some SF3 (finally got it back) online and boy...You think your really good but once you get online you get ur ass whooped.I got beaten 1-16 by dudley So to anyone out there who think there pr0, get ur ass online and prove it.K? bye.
hmm maybe averagethe 1st fighting game i played was on dream cast i think it's called rival school? i don't even know how to push buttons back thentekken- hmm i've been playing since 4 my brother thought me how to use some charactersjin- below averagehwoarang- super skilledcapoera girl(can't remember her name)-above averageMarduk- above averageasuka-above averagenever played kof before except.i think i played marvel vs. capcom before on an arcadestreetfighter 4 me and dad plays this gamei can use all yes except the bearded old guy.
Also, how good is the other people in your country/city? In my town, almost none can play fighting-games that have KoF/SF style commands, if you mention fighting games, the first thing that pops up in their mind is Tekken.

I would say I'm really "meh" player, the kind that tries really hard to get out of the casual skill level but gets his ass handed to him by anyone slightly more advanced, I beat people my level easily in blazblue with hakumen, but when I go on 2DF to play SF3 I get owned by pretty much anyone I meet...probably because I rarely play the game

Street Fighter: With 2, 3, and the alphas, I was fairly average. With Street Fighter IV, I suck ass. I just don't get Viper. I JUST DON'T GET HER. (I have yet to win an online fight against a Viper Player.)KoF: Hell, I've barely played it, most of my experience in the combos comes from Mugen. I have, however, played Mark of The Wolves, but I have no idea what to compare my skill to. Strategy is SPECIAL MOVE, GET THE HELL OUT, DUCK LOW PUNCH HIGH KICK, repeat.Soul Calibur/Tekken/Etc: I suck at these for the most part. I just can't react to the "Just defend" and etc fast enough.Melty Blood: I refuse to play thisThese days I've been playing Monster Hunter, Newer Phantasy Stars, and old RPG's. I barely have time for fighting games.

I Pwn 99.9% of all gamers. Of course there is that unexpected .1% that comes along and wins by the luck of the irish.. But I always blame my lost on my controller sitcking or my nose was itchy.

You know you're fucked now. j/kAnyways, I'm pretty horrible, but we all tend to compare ourselves to top players.I mean, I managed to 4-Seal Combo with Bang today for the first time.I learned something pretty valuable from that.It starts with B, ends with G, and is very long.
PRIMAL RAGE!!!!!!!!!1I will beat anyone with vertigo! (like anyone besides me plays that game anymore)BUT YOU GET TO PLAY AS DINOS.... AND GORILLLAES, WIT SUPEH POWERS!!! AND EAT US STUPID, SPOILED, BRATTY HUMANS! AND YOU GET TO KILL PONY LOOEKIN' DINOZ(Armadon) AND YOU GET TO PEE ON YOUR VICTIM (Chaos) AND.... ROAST PEOPLE! (Diablo)
If you find out if it does, warn me up afterwards. There is someone i could challenge on a ton of older fighting games.

People be fightin' in that game. With guns an' shit.I'm okay. That pretty much sums up most of my fighting game prowess.I'm above average at Guilty Gear especially with Zappa and Sol.I'm somewhat confident in my ability playing Soul Calibur. Siegfried, Nightmare, and Cervantes.
mugenxero said, November 23, 2009, 09:09:56 amJust got back from Nor Cal regionals. I sent Buktooth to losers bracket in SFIV.Nice, is there a Youtube vid so that I can see?Going to a SSBB tournament this weekend. Thanks to the Thanksgiving vacation, I will be able to get in lots of pratice with Meta Knight/ Snake/ Falco/ Sonic so that I can sweep the competiton.
My match against Buktooth he was expected to tear me up so it wasn't on the stream, not sure how much of the stream they recorded, but there may be video surfacing of me 'Chrisis' vs. Tatsu who kicked my arse pretty badly after my win against tooth's fuerte.
mugenxero said, November 23, 2009, 09:15:49 pmMy match against Buktooth he was expected to tear me up so it wasn't on the streamHehehe, nice going on beating him.
Rog's crouch fierce, jump roundhouse, crouch roundhouse, throw, crouch strong, headbutt, dash straight and ultra are pretty much all I used, but they happen to all be really solid against fuerte.
Below average.I can play most 3D fighters to where I can beat arcade/campaign/what have you on Normal mode 99%. 2D tends to rape me, however.Soul Calibur (well, 2, 3, and 4) is my strong point. Yoshimitsu is my primary weapon, and I know my way around Xianghua fairly well. Also, Raphael in 2, back before he sucked. I can also throw down with Maxi about as well as I handle Xianghua.I was also decent at Tekken 3. Again, Yoshimitsu. NAMU NAMU NAMU, MOTHERFUCKERS.
Placed 4th place at the Waba monthly tournament. There were so many Meta Knights in the semi finals of the Singles bracket. I guess its likely due to the fact meta knight is broken tier, kinda like Akuma in SSF2T
Akuma is banned in SSFIIT. I don't think he's actually any better than the rest of the cast in a way that matters for X-Men v SF Rev 2 *Which is the version that everyone plays as opposed to 1 or 3*
Cyanide said, December 01, 2009, 03:43:57 amSo, they don't bother to ban him? Akuma is banned in Xmen vs Streetfighter. In Japan, Meta Knight is banned. In the US, only a few places do so. Guess I'm screwed when Winterfest comes up. Djedah said, December 01, 2009, 10:19:33 amI suck at Soul Calibur. It's just so weird and overrated.Get better at it. The game won't suck after you own a couple people.
-In the most of capcom fighting games i are very good, specially in Marvel vs Capcom 2,Street fighter alpha series, and in darkstalkers with jedah and pyron. -in super smash bros. I foght well, good with meta knight anda king dedede.-In bloody roar 2, 3, etc, i used to be very good.-In Soul calibur 2, 3 and 4 i am the best with the people i know, i don know who i don really play this game(s) to much jajajaThe only thing i hate is: that in the tournament i turn very very nervious... i need to play in some home or online to play at 100% jajathat sucks
