I figure we'll slowly get more info on this so I might as well make the thread now. Cast List:QuoteRobert Downey, Jr. as Tony Stark/Iron ManGwyneth Paltrow as Virginia "Pepper" PottsDon Cheadle as USAF Lt. Col. James "Rhodey" Rhodes/War Machine:Ben Kingsley as The MandarinGuy Pearce as Aldrich KillianAndy Lau as "an old friend of Tony's from ChinaRebecca Hall as Dr. Maya HansenAshley Hamilton as Jack Taggert (Firepower)James Badge Dale as Eric Savin (Coldblood)Jon Favreau as Happy HoganQuoteHere's what we can CONFIRM as true (and not from some guy working security on an off-lot shoot): The Mandarin (as played by Ben Kingsley) is a villain in the 'Iron Man 3,' but he's more a veiled threat as a silent partner to Guy Pearce's Aldrich Killian. Killian is the man inventing Extremis and putting it into his "Extremis army" of multiple super-powered individuals.Warren Ellis has previously confirmed that Iron Man 3 will be drawing from the 'Extremis' storyline he and Adi Granov created for the relaunch of the comic series in 2004.And here's the REAL reason I made this thread. To post these:Played by the same guy whose going to play Coldblood, who is not Norman Osborn. Ummmm......yeah.
They could've went with the Mandarin, I don't know why their pulling out the Iron Patriot, that's not even Iron Man's villain.
Ben Kingsley is Mandarin. Also apparently Iron Patriot is a good guy and then he turns into Coldblood and turns into a bad guy. Or that's what some sources say. It's also the most logical way to explain how the actor is playing both parts.
I'm not feeling it. Hopefully though they include Extremis or Bleeding Edge somehow, but the cgi might not be able to handle it I guess.
Yeah but they can't use Norman because lol Sony. Also it turns out I didn't forget anything because that's really all that's been confirmed. The rest is just rumors and speculation. I added the Extremis part in the first post though.

Yay! Extremis! I'm glad that they aren't doing bleeding edge. As neat as it is in comics it isn't what I'd want in the movie universe. It is incredibly weird that they're going with Iron Patriot in any capacity. The character feels too recent. I would have preferred whirlwind or spymaster or Ghost or, you know, someone with a different powerset than the last two villains and Iron Man himself.
Again, Iron Patriot and Coldblood are being played by the same guy, meaning IP is most likely the hero persona of the dude before he turns evil.
So wait when was The Mandarin officially confirmed? I thought it was just a rumor.Debo said, May 31, 2012, 04:53:50 amYeah but they can't use Norman because lol Sony.Even if Marvel did have the Spider-Man rights I doubt they'd use Norman here. It's just too complicated.
Ben Kingsley was confirmed as a villain, they've been building up to the Mandarin ever since the first movie with the rings crap, they're doing filming in China and this source that apparently is reliable says that they're doing Chinese sets plus other ones that I don't know the credibility of outright confirm him. Do the math. Also who else could he possibly play?
Debo said, May 31, 2012, 05:24:38 amthey're doing filming in ChinaThat was actually one of the reasons that would make him less likely to play the Mandarin in something I read. Y'know, yellow peril and all.But it looks like he is gonna be the Mandarin. They'll probably change a lot of things so as not to piss off the Chinese, but yeah, The Mandarin! Finally!!!Koakuma said, May 31, 2012, 05:38:13 amMan why does Ben Kingsley always have to play the villain nowadays? At least he's not doing an Uwe Boll movie this time.
I mean if Guy Pierce truly is the main villain and Mandarin is just sorta "there" then the Chinese have no reason to get mad because he's not going "NI HAO I KILL THESE AMERICANS FOR FUN POW POW."Then again having the Mandarin do nothing would piss a lot of people off, myself included.

The changes to the Mandarin might make him not even be Chinese, and heavily emphasize that he is no friend of the Chinese government.
