Im new to the MFG so i was just wondering is it bad to have too much chars cause i have 135

Decide what is bad for yourself. I think the only universal definition for tons of characters being bad is if loading tons characters lowers the performance of your computer.

Most people have a small and a big roster.
The small one contains 10 to 50 chars with only the favorite ones, while the bigger one (100+) contains many good characters but which you don't necessarily play often.

Some people (usually leechers) have huge rosters with 500, 700, 1000, even 1500 characters. They only play a few of them, but probably like the randomness in arcade mode or watch mode, as well as collecting many characters just for the hell of it (regardless of quality, which is subjective anyway).

So as Rajaa said, decide for yourself what is bad or not.

It is bad to have too many MUGEN characters, especially if many of them could be removed without affecting your routine significantly. The disk space they waste adds up very quickly.

It's Matrix month!

As far as i know, the more chars you put in the roster, the slower your mugen will pop up like 2 or 5 minutes. Also how much size of a character has like sprites, sounds and the coding.

It really depends.

One thing I would NOT suggest doing with a huge roster, unless your PC is SUPER good...

Is doing a survival run that lasts a long while. Since the game can crash for failing to load a character. Typically though, these characters are ones with a number of MB. Be it high res, or just having a lot of sprites.

However, arcade runs using a lot of characters can make the game interesting, since you really have no idea what you'll run into.

But, I would suggest limiting your characters to ones you either like using, or like fighting against.

Well, I have filled the EVE screenpack, but the only slowdown I have is that it takes about 3 mintues for MUGEN to start.

Expect nothing, but remeber everything.+ I am tired. Future spot for Doraemon in MvC picture, the second I learn to create it. (Even further: Pepsiman for Mvc picture.) Insert random Doraemon anime .gif. (Also, Pac-Man Delta whaling on a MLP character .gif........) Now, Wipeout....... OTHER STUFF? Needs blue SSB 64 Mario in tornado .gif......... Add Super Mario Fighters 3 sprite here........ Also, now doing KFA stuff...

I'm... I'm a leecher??

My roster is about 680 strong, but only because I have compilations from KoF, CvS, MvC, SF2 and 3, GGX and whatnot. So its like you took every favorite Fighting Game of mine and put it all together so everyone could duke it out without any restrictions. The same goes for my stages too: It's more or less a catalogue of Fighting Game goodness.

I wouldn't say leecher... I'd label myself a completionist whore who likes full collections.

Saikoro, to answer your post and Titiln's one, it was a bad choice of words.
I wasn't even thinking "leechers" in a bad way (the old way of downloading everything without ever giving anything back and always begging to get the most stuff possible), but more like people who like to download as much stuff as possible for the sake of it.

And a "travel" MUGEN that I carry along in a flashdrive.

I lost count on the number of characters in my mainframe.

I have about 100 in the main. And I have 45 in my travel.

Consider the function of the MUGEN version when deciding when you have "too many" characters.

Well, I mostly hunt for strange edits, surf around Japanese websites, and look for almost hentai but not quite characters, which has just filled the EVE roster. :p

5 Years at MFG I deserve a medal!

I have about 1500 on my computer, and it runs fine no issues. So its good for me to have a huge roster. But it depends on your tastes.
