Hello, I've put SF3 Kairi in Projects, since there's bound to come more stuff your way ^^
SF3 styled shading sure takes a lot of time, so don't expect animations to fly out of my hands as quickly as with GokuZ2, for example.
You've seen this stuff in the Graphics section, now I've added a kick and his stance.
Well, i was struggling with his stance at first , but I think this is alright. I used the custom SF3 Dan as a base and did custom arm positions.
I sure as hell wasn't going to do Ryu's stance for him, and his EX stance was so generic (shared by Blair and C.Jack, for c. sake).
Other bases i had in mind were maybe SF4 Gouken, anyway, I want to hear your opinion about his stance, I think this is manageble :P
I don't really have plans for 'evil' Kairi of any sorts, I'm basing this Kairi off of EX1+@ Kairi only. You'll have to settle for a white hair palette ;)

Other stuff that is done; 2 more frames for his standing kick, an alternate version of his dive kick sprite (with the left arm streched out and the hand fisted)
and just a bunch of bases for his moves gathered. A great deal will be SF3 Ryu/Ken/Sean/Akuma, CvS Akuma too and probably a whole lot more.
But the last thing I want is to make him a Ryu clone, so I'm gonna do my best in that matter ;)
Any suggestions or questions about Kairi are welcome!

can you made a smaler Version and a little Head?

I see Kairi possibly where between  Fei-Long and Ryu & Ken

Good luck with this one, I almost did my character in sf3 spriting but after looking at the number of colors that ended. Do you have a way of getting his model from the game, that might make it easier. Especially with  the number a frames neccessary for the style.

Yeah my only suggestion is to shrink the head just a little bit. Otherwise, it looks great.

I guess I can shrink his head a little, I inspected some sf3 sprites and his head should be indeed.
And for Doy, I think he mirrors sf3 style nicely. You've seen them?, they all have huge feet and are very broad, almost fat ;)
Next for me is to animate his stance....jeeej :D
And to Diepod, you're an awesome spriter and it's too bad you stopped doing sf3 for your char ;)
I wouldn't start on Kairi if i had a deadline, cause now i'm spending over an hour on a single sprite :P

You could always use Gouki's Alpha Stance since Kairi has the Satsui no Hadou.

This looks nice. We'll finally get a new SFIII character whose sprites don't look like crap. If you ever need palettes, feel free to contact me.

Not usually a fan of shotos, but as I really enjoyed SF EX (don't laugh, I loved it for Skullo and a few others) and I like what you're doing.  The sprites look really great.  Are you basing this on EX1 Kairi or will you have bits of his late appearances included somehow? Either way, keep up the good work man.

Impressive WIP.
Really interesting conversion.
Just one bad point: About the body proportions :-\

Try to compare the size to existing SF3 sprites of Shoto characters.
Kairi is not that big... And his head have to be smaller too.

Seriously beside this proportion problem, your spriting method is really cool!! ;D

I've seen many MUGEN entries about Kairi (almost all from EX2, the white haired one) that never seen the light, but this is promising. I like a lot the spriting you made on him, no matter if the SF3 purists don't like because it's not like they wanted. I hope to play with him in a future, it would be great, good luck with him Balthazar ;)

I've a few questions about him:
-Kairi will have color separation?? I mean, to give him the EX2 look, for example
-Only you made the spriting or also you could code him??

Well he ain't THAT big;

I'm going to add darker lines for his chin so his head comes out better,
it might look so big because you can't see the seperation of his head and body that well.
His hair could be a little flatter too perhaps.
The other thing that might make him look fat is the pieces of his pants that come out above his waistband.
The only thing I could make smaller is perhaps his stance, although he is slightly crouched he's still nearly as tall as Akuma.
Same with his power stance, Akuma is on his toes an still Kairi is bigger, but Akuma has his head tucked on his chest...
So just a little smaller lower legs perhaps ;) The other two are fine if I say so myself :D

I've never played SFEX, so I don't really know him (apart from the numerous sprite edits Mugen people have been doing for years now, with more or less success).
Good luck with him, he looks awesome.

Yeah I especially wanted to go with SFEX1 based because of the multitude of not-so-good Evil Kairi's,
the only thing he might get from his evil counterpart is his dive kick variations (in air d+MK and d+HK)
because it makes him more unique from ryu/ken and cohorts (one is a standard dive kick, the other one a dive kick
and he flips through the air to the other side of the enemy upon hitting them, very sexy air combo set-up stuff)
As for his stance, I'm leaving it like this now (i've tweaked it too), as a said in the 1st post I didn't want to do a stance
that was shared with Blair and C.Jack.
About his pants, well I took a sf3 Ryu sprite as reference in terms of clothing and what-not, I don't think there's really a
diffrence between 2nd Impact and 3rd Strike in clothing bagginess, or you're thinking about Makoto :D
Anyway, his stance nearly has 4 sprites in the animation atm and he has 1 more sprite in his kick animation,
that's still it for now. This stuff sure takes time, Capcom must have had a dozen of employees working on those sprites :P
*EDIT*
whaah I just found out today that his ingame-model from SFEX1 doesn't even have the leg guards he has in his artwork XD
oh well, I'm keeping 'em! He DOESN'T have the scars on his body in the artwork, but he HAS in the ingame-model XD
Ah he has only one eye already, I'm leaving those scars off for now, poor guy :P

Yeah in SFEX he's going down the evil path and by the time of SFEX2 he was fully consumed by the Satsui No Hadou (and he supposedly killed Akuma in battle XD).

As "Evil" Kairi he indeed has white hair and default white pants, he gains 2 versions of dive kicks, his projectile was changed to an 'instant shot'
(rather then a traveling fireball), his Kyoja Renbu changes to a 'blacked screen' type move simulair to Shungoku Satsu and he gains a huge energy beam lv3.
Besides that he has a different stance (his hands in the air, which glow with energy) and he screams a lot in his victory scenes :P

The most fun thing about Kairi was his ability to supercancel easily 3 supers in a single combo (with a super that carries the enemy into the air, a super air fireball and a super dive kick,
you could mix things up and even start off a simple f+MK jumping knee kick)

This is Kairi how he appears in Ex 2 Plus (and i believe in EX 3 , too).

I wish Balthazar could also sprite him as he is there. with the only difference that he would be in SF3 Style, just as his SF EX Version there. if the style is the same, then it would be possible to code them both in one char, with 2 palettes. But i wouldnt mind if The kairi from SF EX 2 and 3 was an extra char.
I am very busy searching for Kairi Sprites to Code him. But i never found a good one, because the existing ones either didnt look as good as Balthazars or they didnt contain all the moves he is able to do.

Well, this wish from a Great Kairi fan : pls make an alternative palette also with Kairi looking like he does in the gif i posted there. with your skills, he would be looking awesome.  And include ALL the moves pls.  that means :

Jinki Hatsudo    ( Hadoken )
Maryu-Rekko    ( Shoryuken)
Mouryo-Kasen   ( Tatsumaki Sempu Kyaku)
Shinki-Hatsudo  ( Diagonal Shinkuu Hadoken from Air)
Sairou-Kyousyu   ( one of the super combos in ex plus alpha)
Garyu-Messyu      ( one of the supers in ex plus alpha from air)
Kyouja-Renbu   ( his Version of Shun Goku Satsu in ex plus alpha)
the last super he shouldnt miss is the Big Beam of Ex 2 Plus. dont know the name but you know what i mean right ?
we could make that one of the 2 hyper moves he should know.

they ALL dont have to look exactly the same of course. just let out your Fantasy.  his Shun Goku Satsu version looks more like akumas in Ex 2 Plus. but i like both versions. we could make the one of ex plus alpha a lv 1 super,because its a cool strike combo which can be seen actually, and the one of ex 2 plus a lv 3 hyper. oh man i flowing with coding ideas xDD

but i can agree with DOY when he said he could be a little smaller overall. but only a little bit.

well thats my inspiration for you.  and let me tell you , that I have a Great Opinion of your spriting skills. VERY impressive Balthazar. Keep that up

I came in here thinking they were going to be awesome sprites from Baltazar of that kairi from KH.
But this is cool too.

Juck, i didn't know his belt was the same color as his hair  ::)
I'm editing my existing sprites with new color seperation,
and try to make it so you can turn his shirt into skin even better.  :sugoi:

(the middle dot in the top row is his eye-pupil, but his sprite has none, since only his blind eye is showing)
(btw i don't have a sprite showing his hairband, but it will probably be the darkest colors of each shade of his arm wrappings)

Well this is how i'll be doing him from now on; arm and leg guards seperated from shirt,
small re-do on his arm bandages (i had 4 straps, now i'm only doing 3, looks better i think)
and his waistband seperated. I'm not doing anything to remove his legguards, screw it :P

Now make me a fresh palette; black waistband and very darkblue arm and leg guards  >:(
Make yourself a new evil palette too  >:( and you'll have to run with that!

yes thats a little bit better. i know its hard to make it that we can see it. because we want to maintain the blue color as much as we can right ? perhaps its worth trying to color the shadows another bit brighter. in order to see the waistband better. and then put the 2 or 3 different images in a post , so that we all can select which one is better. thats my suggestion.

we want to see him in all his glory dont we ? =)

i wanted to ask what plans you have with the palette balthazar. i dont know much about spriting, but i know that if we use different colors for :
- Hair
- Trousers
- Shirt ( or whatever it is)
- Leg and armguards
- Skin color
- Eyes
- Belt (waistband)

...then we will be able to make EX 2 Kairi with a simple palette change just as hien said. then you only would have to sprite the missing stance i posted as a gif animation 2 posts earlier. the one with the hands in the air. and the other things ex 2 kairi has and the normal one doesnt.
If you do, then we could code it in a way,  that the ex 2 stance, and the other moves only ex 2 version knows, would only show up when he uses palette number 2. just an example so that you know that we wouldnt have to make your Ex plus alpha kairi look unoriginal. you know what I mean ? he could behave normal and with EX 2 palette he would behave original as in EX 2 Plus, just like "Evil" Kairi. we even could make it, that he would only be able to do certain hypers oder supers when he uses palette 2. all that is possible.

and if you would seperate the colors as i described it above, then you would only have to sprite all moves with one palette. what i want to say is, you wouldnt have to sprite him again as an extra char with extra colors and so on
because i know what hard work that must be for you.
and maybe you knew all that i posted here, but i only want to make sure that you have easier work AND the EX 2 Kairi fans would be satisfied as well.

but then, i am expecting a great Kairi that is More than worth coding.
as long as you include all the supers, specials and hypers......i have no doubts it will be a great success.
and maybe ones that arent existent, but imageable. but thats up to you.
at this point i only have one suggestion:
 i hope you will include the animation also, where he spreads his arms to both sides. you know ? the one he does in EX 2 when he starts with the Shun Goku Satsu.
