I'm kinda getting burnt out on this so I need someone else's opinion on how  I can make this look better.(The shadow come from an awning that hasn't been added yet so bare with me. And the colors for some parts are just place holders.)

Update:
Spoiler, click to toggle visibilty
Added the gas pump.

Added a little detail on the building and darkened it's so looks like it's in shade.

It still has a long way to go though.  I had car sprite I needed to add but the slight change in angle makes it useless now. :-\

This comes from an existing 3D model? It sure looks like so.
If that's the case, you should move the camera down a little bit, the high perspective makes it hard to appreciate

If you're drawing this by hand, then your main concern will be adding a higher color count to all objects, and adding less bright shades. Darker greys for the wall, and browner/less yellow floor colors.

It's all by hand,(or mouse anyway ). I didn't realize the perspective was a little too high until I got too deep into it, it was actually much higher before. Everything else is noted.

Thanks for the feedback.

This is stuff from one of the few stages I tried to do first but abandoned. It doesn't hurt to show it now so whatever.

That's very pretty. Could be very nice for a canyon stage, especially if you allowed tiling to ease the creation process.

Thanks.
@Cy What is tiling exactly?

I ditched the garage stage because the perspective just doesn't work for me. I'm going back to the mountain stage.

I started  an entirely new floor since the old one is just to hard to work with. Am I going in the right direction or is it too much.

*so much grey* :ninja:

I need to add a few more colors in between , remove the black borders and make everything look less artificial of course. I just want to know if this looks odd to anyone else since I've been the only one looking at this shit for so long; this is only a fraction of what I want to do so I'm just loking for some feedback.

Looks like something from the (first two) Paper Mario. Dunno if that fits your criteria of "odd", though it looks good to me.

Yeah, I need to add more details to it and improve the color count. The colors are place holders so don't worry too much about that.

i made some headway on the floor.i'm sort satisfied with what's on the right ,but the left is pretty chaotic for me still trying to get it down. I still need to commit to a palette so that could change and I need to add details to the surface( the mostly beige area. i don't know if want to double the color count or use what i currently have. :-\

I think that looks just perfect  :o ! I would personally not double the color count, this looks amazing :) !
Only thing it looks like it's missing is some drop shadows on the surface below the highest raised part. They look too 'pasted on' now. But the colors itself are nice!

thanks :).yeah,i do need to do those shadows too.

after that  i need to finish the improved mountain as well. need to decide on the scale too because if i decide to add superjump i'll have to improved the color count from 4 to 8 and keep the current size.

The base was drawn by hand and scanned. The rest was done by mouse and improvising on the fly. I can't do any 3d.

I might as well post the latest version of the mountain since I just uploaded it for archiving purposes. Still a ways off though. The right one is going unused.

That is effin' ridiculous... ridiculously good, I mean...  o_O

I thought the lineart looked too cluttered and was going to post something about it. Then I saw the final version and you totally shut me up.

I bow to thee, good sir.

Trying out something for a little practice. struggled with the chrome parts and gave up on trying to get the wheels to looks right. I can't take credit for the line art since I found a spec sheet for the car while I was looking for refs. I just edited it and did the shading.

Looks great but! I have to warn you, don't make the mistake I see many times: stages are somewhat in perspective, have the car like that too.
Spoiler, click to toggle visibilty
This is what I mean. In that screenshot the car looks so ugly, pasted on. Make your cars in the same perspective as stages :)

Can't wait for you to finish those stages you are working on.
You wouldn't mind joining the Z2 team and make DBZ stages would you :P (stealing all the talent here yo)

@Graphicus Thanks

@Balthazar Yeah, that bothers me too.I'm not using it for a stage though, just practicing shading on painted/metallic surfaces for now

I don't think I have enough talent to start partnering so I have to decline the offer to join Team DBZ). I'm barely making this stage works as it is(Thanks for the offer anyway 8). I did have an idea for a goku stage ,but I have so much stuff I have floating in my head right now I'd rather do them first if I ever get to them. For now, it's training time. :kugoi:

It's kinda hard to get a hang this.I'm still not even a third of the way through on just laying the colors and getting it to look right. I might as well ask for opinions now before I lose what's left of my sanity working on this.

-most of the left side to the lower right is unfinished. :(
-i need to tone down on the usage of the brightess color .it needs to be more subtle than it is now.
-i'm struggling with the top area. can't get it look right without being plain or too overwrought. it doesn't flow right.

thoughts?

Been working on this as a distraction for a while and it's still not done. Missing some interior+exterior accessories and probably some color adjustments since it's mostly grabbed from Dudley's car and Q's coat. I'm not happy with how the side molding came out some that may change. I also need to do another pass at the interior cause it's a bit wonky right now.

I haven't gotten around to doing the wheels yet cause i'm a lazy ass somebody stole them while I wasn't looking.  :woeh:
