Everyone and their mother is going on about how Cars 2 is Pixar's worst movie since Cars.  Sure, Cars 2 is a pretty bad movie compared to Pixar's other movies, but Cars itself is a damn good movie. In my opinion, it's on par with Pixar's other movies like A Bug's Life and Monster's Inc. I think it's a bit harsh, although it's technically true, to call Cars Pixar's worst movie... but this.

Cars 2 is just an atrocity. A waste. It's just shameful that Pixar would churn out something like this. Granted, I wasn't too eager about a sequel in the first place. It looked like a disaster from the trailers. Granted, trailers don't always do a movie justice, so I overlooked the trailers most of the time. Then when I went to see it with my family, things just went... wrong :-\.

What do you guys think?

Cars never really grabbed my attention. I saw the first one once ages ago and was pretty uninterested through it's entirety. I was actually surprised when I even heard there would be a second one.

Up, Wall-E, and Toy Story made me want to believe Pixar is one of the best things to happen to the big screen(and later DVD).

I'll probably end up sitting through Cars 2 at some point due to my nephew. So I'm curious now, what's wrong with the movie? Too many Toyota drivers?

I have seen everything Pixar ever did so many times, everything has lots its charm.   I think Cars was made for 10 year old boys and 50 year old men.

So I'm curious now, what's wrong with the movie?

1. Really predictable plot, and not in the Pixar way. Anyone with 1/4 of a brain would figure out who the villain is the very first time they're on screen. The moral is tacked in at the last second.

2. Waaaaay too many characters without too much development or attachment (IMO the same problem with Cars, but I still love that movie nonetheless.)

3. It's pretty much Larry the Cable Guy's shows and movies; toilet humor and shenanigans.

4. It's quite violent; 2 characters are actually killed with one almost visible on screen.  o_O

5. The whole spy theme is as generic as most of the cars in Cars (lol) with over the top action scenes, spy junk, and lame dialogue.

I think Cars was made for 10 year old boys and 50 year old men.

Girls aren't into automobiles as much as I am I suppose. This probably contributed to most people not liking it along with the underdeveloped characters.

Well it's a G rated movie while Roger Rabbit was PG.

It's also Pixar, you don't really see deaths in Pixar. Sure the Incredibles had a lot of on screen deaths, but that was PG and frankly we never knew enough of those characters well enough to care if they died or not.

I didn't like Cars, but I didn't really have any problems with it as a concept.  Another kid-friendly 'talking-thing-that-really-shouldn't-be-talking' movie that wasn't really doing any harm.  But I can't help but wonder what the hell they were smoking when they gave the okay to take the same premise and randomly turn it into a spy action thing for no reason.

Whatever.  After the sheer brilliance that was The Incredibles and Wall-E, Pixar has a free pass for life from me.

Indeed, I was thinking only in terms of box office and worldwide gross, while merchandising is also a very important source of income. But still, compared to some of their other movies ... bleh, fucking cars. Next they're going to make a barbie movie.

In comparison, Up, which was fucking awesome, had very little merchandising and made very little profits. although to be honest that movie doesn't need a sequel.

Speaking of sequels that will never be made because of bad profits, Scott Pilgrim. I want a sequel where Scott fights Ramona's GOOD exes.

Only a few posters do I actually consider as white noise and completely ignore-able because of their intense stupidity. He is one of them.

There's supposedly a Toy Story 4 in the makes? If the short before Cars 2 was any indication of what to expect, be VERY afraid (it was a mediocre Toy Story 3 short about a vacation with Barbie and Ken).

Hence why those 10 minutes would've been a much more memorable movie than 80-90 minutes of the adventures of a clumsy obese kid and talking dogs.

I kinda like The Princess and the Frog, but I much prefer Tangled. Much better characters and the plot is so much better. Better movie overall.

" I heard oprah was involved in censoring a lot of the plot so fuck oprah"

what is this about? just wondering why she would be messing with the plot.

looks kinda LOTR. I haven't really liked anything Disney since "all dogs go to heaven 2"
All Dogs Go To Heaven 2 is not Disney.

I remember there being something up with this film but why wasn't it Disney. Didn't they still have the rights to the film?

It was meh IMO
But the horse !!! The story is very predictable and all, just a princess story, but the realisation and the jokes make it a very nice movie IMO.
Anyway, tastes and all ...

PS : just watched Toy Story 3, awesome movie indeed, and totally deserves all the positive critics and acclaims.

" I heard oprah was involed in censoring a lot of the plot so fuck oprah"
The original name for the lead was "Maddie" and she worked as a maid. Apparently some black groups got offended at this, even though it was kinda accurate for the time period, and so Disney hired Oprah to be a black consultant so that they didn't piss off any of those groups.

Which is almost as bad as when Disney did that movie that Splash Mountain was based on, where all the slaves looked *happy* to be working the cotton fields.

If the movie was on Orleans they could have found some alternative work for her. But it might piss off more people.

what? they didn't? it should be just like peasant working for their emperor.
it is not like their master/ king/ emperor would always be an evil heartless tyrant as portrayed in movies.

It was never made by Disney. Not even the 1st one. The 1st one was directed by Don Bluth. The only relation it has with Disney, was that when the first movie was released it was competing against The Little Mermaid at the box office. Obviously it lost, since the plot was weaker. But it was a good movie nonetheless.

Because american blacks have the belief that they were the only oppressed group in mankind's history and that they have the right to bitch about it in the year of two thousand eleven.

The issue is about psychological damage that is currently still lasting. There's some damage but what caused it and why it's still around is way to complicated. Also if you think you don't have psychological damage you do but you don't know it or are unaware.

[So your friends say your crazy and you deny it for a while. later you start saying I think I could  be crazy so give me a text  but you take it in japan so your evaluation is all wrong. So you become paranoid because you don't know if your sane or not]
this is the best example I can give.
