one is a portable and one is a console so it comes down to wanting something portable or wanting a console

also i think the ps3 has more games

I wouldn't compare videogames between those two. They're completely different systems with different hardware.

What Titiln said is that they have more games, as in bigger in number. If you have the money to afford one of them, IMO I would go for the PS3.

Maybe the question goes along the lines of ... in countries other than the US, the selling price of the PSP has a minimal difference compared to the PS3.

If money is the issue, you need to realize PS3 games are EXPENSIVE and they can NOT be pirated easily, where as the PSP game catalog is already somewhat interesting, games are $20 USD cheaper, and has some exclusives and HACKS to play PSOne games.

If you are in a bad money situation, you are better off with a DS than a psp or a ps3.
I would rather have a ps3 but I am aware that my monetary condition doesnt allow it, some of my friends however keep several consoles.
If in the end the price is irrelevant to you, you should consider if you want a portable system or something to hook up to a tv.

Yeah.

PSP has Persona 3 Portable. PS3 can no longer play PS2 games, which means Persona 3 on the PS2's out.

PSP wins.

I wouldn't consider that a infinite since you have to make your opponent bounce of the wall and if you do it on the wrong side of the stage the stage interaction would activate.

As some ones have said, depends on where do you want to play, and how money do you have:
A PS3 is totally expensive, and the games are expensive too.
A PSP is kinda cheap in comparation of the PS3, and the games are more easily to get that the PS3 ones, even you can download them.
So, all depends on your situation.

An Xbox 360 is a little cheaper than the PS3, and the games can be pirated easily. I have one, and the same fighting games that you can get on the PS3 are aviable for the 360. But... there's no God of War... but that depends on your game likes.
Bad point of the 360: paying for online play... (but i don't play online because i don't have original games

well the one that i got was a lot cheaper that a PS3...
ohhh, whatever...
then depends on what games do he likes, for example:
PS3: God of War, Gran Turismo
Xbox: Halo, Gears of War
But, i think that he likes fighting games, so anyone of those could be fine...

If you're looking for fighting games, Live has a better online community (more players, better players) than PSN does, but out of the box, PS3s are easier to play fighters with because DS3 > Xbox Controller.

Well, you can get a 360 for $200 if you only want 4GB of internal memory rather than 250GB.

Lately I've been giving more the PS3 more playtime then the PSP. Just remember that you can play online games like MW2 and SSF4 on it. While PSP doesn't have alot of online games. Phantasy Star is the only game I can think of, and I'm not even sure if it hit stateside yet.
