Hey folks, it's that time of the year again that I come back into business. Long story short, Mugen is getting popular here in São Paulo, as someone is selling it through arcades (and probably making a quick buck out of it, the bastard), but that's not a mugen drama topic, point is I was invited to create a better mugen presentation for an event the arcade i usually go will host. Sooo, I'm reviving an old idea for a sequel of SNK Gals Fighter, only that I won't nerf it into a SNK only characters, SVC girls and whatever more I can find with the proper graphics has a chance to be in. If you made a decent conversion of a character that could fit and I'm aware of, expect a pm soon. 8)

Cast will be about... 10-12 playable characters + Boss.

Confirmed list (will update it as I get it done):

Vanessa (by me, download www.trinitymugen.net, updated 26/12/2009 please download it if you have the previous version);
King (by me, download www.trinitymugen.net, not updated yet);
Kula (by me, current character in progress. Using CCI Kula for resources, thanks goes to Iron Mugen);
Shiki (by me, actually it's not confirmed, if I can get her special throw move to work correctly, she's in. If I can't, she won't. Will work on her after Kula);
Mai (by KoopaKoot, will work on her soon, but there's probably very very little to do beside game system stuff. Thanks to KooaKoot);

Will upload some pics soon, not that important since I already have two characters available, right?

Well, now the issue, I could use some help regarding screenpack and overall look. I can code characters, know a bit about stages, but I really lack the guts for screenpack in every aspect (though I could learn the codings if I at least get a good idea). If you have an idea and can help me please, reply. :)
Also, in before "what about Leon" questions, I talked with wou (spriter and owner) a month ago when I was still out of my coding season, and did told him to send me the latest build for me to finish it, he's yet to do so. So, as a coder, I can tell that it's really almost done, but I don't know anymore how much time it will take to get the last 10% done. Once I get it, it'll be my top priority.
Hm, second top, I also have another sprited wip with that should be released first, right Thedge? :nink:

And that's about it, hopefully it will be a very productive year. Hope you like what's to come. :)


Now that KoopaKoot is doing Shiki, I can go for another character. Who? You choose. It'll complete half the planned cast so I'll work on other stuff after it's done so I can release a public beta of Gals Fighters 2010 around april. It may be the last public release I'll do for a while too, so choose carefully. :)

Mary (KOF + RB: Think of her Regulation A incarnation);
Leona (KOF: Accurate conversion of her 2002 appearance, may have Orochi mode);
Nakoruru (NGBC + SS: will probably have more accuracy to SS);
Goddess Athena (NGBC + SVC: well, little accuracy planned since I can't take data from NGBC, still confident I could deliver something nice).

PotS: Ha, didn't knew about this one. Only game of women only in progress that I know of is from that Tetchi guy. ;P If nothing else, this makes me think about renaming my game sometime later.

Haha, Goeniko would be the perfect boss indeed. If she's going to be as silly as Miss X was then all the better.

Aside from the original gals like Akari, Athena and Mai, I suggest Ai(NGBC), Hotaru and Goddess Athena. Also, Kisarah would be the best alternative for Yuki.

Those jokes fits better in that little world of pocket graphics and gameplay, right now I'm sticking with the overall KOF ways (though I could make endings like RBS2, if I get to mess with it, same for storyboards). What I could do though for a better mood is to add special anims such as 95 King and Yuri. I myself want some ideas from you guys.

Santa Detective: Those are great suggestions, thanks. As for Goeniko, I don't really know anything about her aside from few mugen screenshots replys. Is it really worth checking? The author is someone I can contact in case I get interested?

Will try harder to keep the topic updated this time. Kula's normals/specials done. CCI had accurate timings and clns but not vels and juggles so it's taking a bit longer than I planned. Will probably be done by the end of monday, only needs dms and minor fixes (sparks, damage,  etc).

Not sure if I'll add her XI air projectile, what do you think of it?

Will post about the games system once I finish her, got some really good ideas to make this game unique and fun. :)

Double post for justice:





Diamond Shoot: Enabled "tiger knee" motion for instant activation from ground.
Diamond Edge: Weak and strong versions are different like XI, and now does different damage aswell.
Freeze Execution: Coded like 2002, but does 17 hits like XI's. Trans so it doesn't complete override the lifebars. In the end I kinda like it.

And that's about it, only minor fixes are left, expect a release soon. :)

Dunno, I know it'll be very hard to have a vast majority of the cast to not be SNK characters, but I can still try to avoid making it a complete kof list. As there is already Vanessa and Kula (and now, maybe Leona), priority is in other games. Kasumi I can semi confirm, only she'll be closer to XI instead of 96 (96 anims aren't too good).

But I'm not assuming any compromises either, in the end, if I feel like, I could very well make another kof char and yeah, could use CCI support again. ;P

Mary (surprisingly) wins. :) Thanks for the votes people, will start her in a couple of days.

So, because I don't want it to be a complete snk game, and because it doesn't hurt to try, I've experimenting some characters from other places and, uhn, came up with this. It's not supposed to be 100% perfect as the point is to see how well I can sprite a character in 20 minutes max. Please tell me what do you think of it. (If I have to tell who she is then it's a complete piece of crap and I should forget about it):




Looking at it, not the most fitting pose too. :P But at least made it easier.
Could work? Should I give up?

Thanks.

The jacket should actually help hiding parts that are harder to sprite, as well as hide the many inconsistencies a sprite work of many parts could cause, so it's strategic part of her design.
Let's see if I can get hyped enough to try, definitely not the hardest character to sprite and possibly very rewarding.

Well, I would like to suggest 3 chars:

Angel - she is freak, but its a very complex char
Hinako`s sister (can't remember her name). About Hinako, you can put her on the same trash can of Sakura :)
Roomi, from galaxy fighter. Her graphics are very close to KOF ones

Ilu: I'm avoiding more kof chars right now, so Angel's is ruled out. I have no idea by who you meant as Hinako sister and this Roomi should at least be worth checking out, thanks.

That's new to me. Actually Malin is a character that could be in, let's see.

Yeah, but not as much anymore, just noticed I was skipping the fun part. Not really into writing wall of texts to sell the current idea, but now the main system will be some kinda of personalised max mode for every character. When this mode is activated, Vanessa's will be her Max Puncher, Kula will be able to summon Fox/Candy/Diana ala Captain Commando Strikers, King will have SF ex moves, etc. Mary's probably self explanatory.

This will be activated by some kind of skill point or whatever, and the game will only store 1 super.
