Yeah, well, Supergirl is still in the works (as mentioned in my old sprite topic). I'm still making sprites and while there's nothing playable yet, I guess I've enough done to call this a real project.I'll add her cape later, but for now, here are a few of her attack animations: No release date as of yet, as there's still a lot of stuff that needs to be done.
These sprites look nice, good luck with this. The stance looks a bit off around the skirt/thigh area though.
@Jebus: Out of these gifs, the only one I posted before is the crouching HK. The others show all new or improved animations. And thank you. @seanaltly: Thanks. I... think I know what you mean. I'll try to fix it... somehow.Edit: Fixed the legs and tried to change the movement of the skirt a bit. I'm still undecided about the later. Does this look better?
These sprites are very impressive. They look like they came right out of the animated series. They seem to be a little off from being mvc style with all of the other superheros. Maybe if you separated the palette with the black line on her skin so it could be black or a darker skin tone maybe with a palette it could match the mvc more. That would be cool. Of course, if you don't care and you want it to just be your style, like I said, right out of the animated series. Great work.
Toni said, January 06, 2009, 04:36:47 amWhats Up With The Sliding Backwards While Crouching? Anyways, Other Than That I Love The Sprite Work Done Here
it's to illustrate that she'd move forward after doing that dropkick. the moving back is so the animation can cycle properly
Titiln said, January 07, 2009, 08:54:27 pmit's to illustrate that she'd move forward after doing that dropkick. the moving back is so the animation can cycle properlyThanks For The Explaination Titiln
Well, I updated the dropkick and ditched the sliding because it seems to confuse people. I guess there's just no love for smoothly cycling gifs these days. @darkmoon766: Thank you, uhm, but I don't really know what you mean. What black line?
The sprite are nice, but is better you can them in MVC STYLE, you'll get much attention, and someone could even help you in the future to edit her
she already looks mvc style to me as far as shading and antialiasing go, although the colors could be a bit brighter to match mvc's but that's toni's decision really.
i don't think you read my post because i clearly said she'd look closer to mvc with a different palette. of course she doesn't look very mvc as she currently is
no what, no the stance isnt good, no the sprite isnt mvc style?I find it to be a nice spriting technique anyway.
Thanks. And don't worry about the colors to much. Once the character is done, I'll make sure to include bright mvc-style palettes, too.@Tetsuo9999: Yes. @MirageAtoli: Well, for now I'm basing her on the cartoon version of Supergirl (Kara In-Ze).
Toni said, January 10, 2009, 08:18:29 pmThanks. And don't worry about the colors to much. Once the character is done, I'll make sure to include bright mvc-style palettes, too.Wow Cool
Quite good. I've sprited most of her basic attacks and animations (minus the cape). Still nothing playable yet, but spritewise, I think I'm about halfway done.
Hmm... I have to admit that I'm still a bit undecided on this. I first want to get the basics done. But for now she'll be able to use heat vision and some dash attacks. Just have to make sure that she doesn't play like a Superman-clone.Supers are a bit better planned out. For now, two are planned. I don't want her to be overpowered, and there will be no strikers. Other than that... we'll see.
Okay, making a nice and fluent cape is almost more difficult than making the Supergirl sprites themselves. Note to self: never make a character with a cape again. Hmm...
Even though it was hard that cape is awesome. I guess when I said black line I meant the really dark skin tones on the edge of some of her skin. I thought it was black. But if you have it separated and it isn't black thats fine. I agree with the others that it is a very cool style you have going with her, it's just that most other characters don't match her shading style, but like Titlin said it can probably be made to look more similar with a pallete change. I guess You will just have to make more characters in this style to play with her. Prefarably not superman, cape you know.
The inside of the cape is already in a different color for palette purposes, just recolored for the gif to prevent comments like "you got the colors all wrong" and such. The outside of the cape will just share the colors of the boots.
Not at the moment. I might change that later, but I don't really see a need for them to be seperated. *shrugs*
Toni said, January 07, 2009, 02:35:42 ama lil detail: at her left leg (artist right) she has her ancle broken, i mean, look how the leg moves and the foot stays immobile(<-spell ???)otherwise shes hot, gluck
Well, as I wrote earlier:Toni said, January 13, 2009, 10:34:59 pmHmm... I have to admit that I'm still a bit undecided on this. I first want to get the basics done. Not much has changed since then, as I really haven't got that much time lately to work on her as much as I'd like. I'm still making sprites, just... slower.
Hey Toni, nice to see your making way with supergirl. Do you plan to release this character to be playable on Mugen or were you only doing the WIPs for this character? If you plan to release you can get alot more help to finish up the character. I would suggest infinity mugen as they added 5 new characters to their site MARVEL: Black Cat, Mr. Fantastic and DC: Batman, Aquaman, Green Arrow. These are newer versions not the old ones. So don't feel like you have to go it alone. Anyway a small suggestion is that you can edit the supergirl you have to various outfit to meet the various other supergirls out there.

Uhm, you know that WIP means "Work In Progress", right? I mean, what kind of progress would it be if I never planned to finish and release her? Currently, I don't really need much help. We'll see how it goes later, but at the moment, I'm quite happy with her progress (even though it's a bit slow at times). And while I realise that there are multiple versions of Supergirl, I'm really not going to edit all of her sprites to create all of her individual costumes. After all, I still want to finish her in my lifetime.

Does anyone know where to get this stage? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jIToeUR-0Ho&feature=relatedIt's really awesome and there's a supergirl in the background too.
Recently, Favorite Fiction Blog conducted a poll with a short list of character names asking what characters the readers would like to see in MUGEN.The poll was also broken down into subcategories for both Marvel and DC.Supergirl won the DC category rather easily. To see the results, go to:http://mmcelhaney-fiction.blogspot.com/2009/02/polls-results-which-characters-would.htmlThank you to everyone that participated.
Interesting. I just hope the expectations won't be too high. She's still just the second character I ever worked on after all. Oh well. I guess it's time for another small gif, just to assure you that I'm still working on her.(As usual, the cape will be added later)
Very nice.I just hope you understand what I am trying to say here: I notice that have hand is as if she is using the air to support her for the kick. Shouldn't her left hand be more towards the ground, like where her foot is before she kicks?
Well, I can always put the arm a bit lower if it happens to look stupid in-game, but I don't think that it will be much of a problem unless you put her into a plattform-game stage.

Thanks, but I'd have no idea how to keep the cape seperate and still make it look good. Plus, I don't really see any advantage of a seperate cape, so it might be more trouble than it's worth.

As was stated a few weeks ago in this topic thread, Supergirl won Favorite Fiction's poll about characters the public wished would be MUGENized.Due to this, I decided to take the opportunity to speak with Toni to learn more about this WIP.Numerous things are discussed from how the creation process started, progress, and thoughts on betas and a hopeful release date.To read all this and more about Supergirl, please take the following link:http://mmcelhaney-fiction.blogspot.com/2009/03/wip-focus-supergirl-by-toni.htmlThank you
Everywhere? I make less than a post a day on this forum per my profile. And whenever I post a hyperlink, it is to a different article, and in this case, one relevant to the Supergirl WIP. And not only relevant in this case, but discussion with the creator who was kind enough to drop some information that had not been publicly discussed anywhere before. So to those that read the article, I thank you.
Funny, in your interview you didn't ask the hard hitting question of why Toni choose to do that particular version of Supergirl rather than another. DC/Supergirl/Superman fans know what I'm talking about with Matrix, Linda, Crisis Supergirl, The Batman/Superman Supergirl. Also another hard hitting question would be if he or the group would considered taking on a project for Powergirl in the near future. Those would have been priority questions for me as a fan and a writer. But don't get me wrong you did ask about the project and how it was going and that's always good imput from the creator. But thanks for posting the link to at least read what Toni had to say about your questions.
Well, if you really want to know, there's no problem to answer these questions here. el852 said, March 18, 2009, 05:27:07 pmFunny, in your interview you didn't ask the hard hitting question of why Toni choose to do that particular version of Supergirl rather than another. You mean other than the fact that I used the cartoon version as a reference rather than one of the comic versions? Well, I prefer this outfit over the usual red and blue ones.el852 said:Also another hard hitting question would be if he or the group would considered taking on a project for Powergirl in the near future. Group? What group? As for Powergirl, no, there are no plans for her (or any other character at the moment for that matter. Please let me finish Supergirl first ).
el852 said, March 18, 2009, 05:27:07 pmyou didn't ask the hard hitting questions Um, I do not do hard hitting questions. Why, because it is a privilege to even get the chance to ask questions like that in the format I did from any creator for publication. If there was a hard hitting question, it is very simple for Toni or any other creator that shares information with me and Favorite Fiction Blog to simply say no.Not to mention, every article serves as a reference for other creators to work with us in the future. And I'd rather continue writing such pieces than turn off creators due to hard hitting questions a small percentage of people would like to hear.Besides, that was not hard hitting, and there is nothing to stop you from asking Toni or anyone else for that matter those types of things. Also, nothing stopping said creators from passing on answering either.
So far so FANTASTIC!Little by little! but there it goes! Making sprites its a pain but it is very rewarding too! This project is starting to take a very nice shape! keep it up man! and dont worry about the cape, you can do that at the end or very later on.Ill scan some concept for a super if that would help tough.cheers!
Wow, more than a month has passed without any update. Bet you thought I forgot about the project, huh? Well, I still don't have as much time to work on her as I'd like, but she's still in the works. And just to show that I wasn't completely idle, here's a fresh and new attack animation:This will be her heavy kick. Pitalla, thanks a lot and thanks for the offer. While I have planned out most of her moves, I'm still open to suggestions (but I won't promise anything).Rennba... thanks, but in my opinion no char needs panty-shots. Supergirl has got quite a short skirt, so you might still see some by pausing the game with good timing if you so desire, but I won't put any emphasize to them.
And another small update. Nothing spectacular, just a jumping animation, but still, progress is progress. Uche_of_MFG, medium kick is finished but I haven't shown it yet. Light kick is still in the works.
Love the look, but should it be a little faster? Part of me thinks she is taking flight...which I know the comic character can do.
volzzilla said, June 11, 2009, 06:39:35 amLove the look, but should it be a little faster?
