This is merely a rumour but I think its worth a whole threadhttp://paulgalenetwork.com/home/2012/01/22/rumor-is-rocksteady-studios-next-game-teenage-mutant-ninja-turtles-manhattan-crisis/- Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Manhattan Crisis is the alleged name of the title.- Leonardo, Donatello, Raphael, and Michelangelo are the four playable characters, each with their own varied move set and weapon of choice (sword, bo staff, sai, and nunchucku…respectively).- Flashbacks are played as Master Splinter/Hamato Yoshi.- Shurikens, smoke bombs, grappling hooks, and climbing foot spikes.- Gameplay and story/stage progression similar to Batman: Arkham City.- Classic characters such as Bebop and Rocksteady (warthog and rhinoceros), Dr. Baxter Stockman, Shredder (Oroku Saki), and Krang act as bosses and in the case of the humans-turned-mutants, you fight them in both forms throughout the story.- The Turtle Van and Turtle Blimp will be present and with them and other gadgets, the Wii U build is expected to have touch screen controls for specific actions.- Multiplayer is unknown.- Graphics engine used is that of Arkham City.- The game is expected to be more dark than slapstick, but the turtles themselves and their interactions with the Foot Clan, bosses, and story characters like April O’Neil and Casey Jones will still have comedy attached.- Purportedly being in development for Wii U, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3.- Careful selection of voice actors to bring the universe to life as well as Rocksteady did with their two Batman games.- Manhattan Crisis shares a similar name to the 1991/1992 NES title, “The Manhattan Project”, but is very much its own title.
WHOA...This I gotta see with my own eyes....but a TMNT game with similar gameplay to Batman:AS and a storyline close to the dark old Eastman and Laird comics would certainly rock hardcore.I hope Rocksteady Studios really delivers the awesomeness.
Hmm i ve read there would be another TMNT reboot this year, even with a new movie with actors and a new series as well
Lolmechy said, January 23, 2012, 07:51:28 pmDARK AND GRITTY TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLESPlease no.Sorry, the 90's and its cheesy, one-liner-friendly Turtles are never, ever coming back.
Some of the comics were dark and gritty but idk if the cartoons were. I'd prefer it be based on the original movies then work from there. If they make this an origin story they could squeeze sequels out of it too. Im excited tho itll prolly be good. COWABUNGA
Early cartoons were usually comedic, but once in a while had a 'serious' episode. 2003 series got much closer, but was still played up from time to time for laughs.
Sounds awesome, haven't played City yet, but everyone says it is better than Asylum, so yeah, awesome.
Hmmm... I'm skeptical, but it fits with the known info about the new cartoon (except that the Turtle Blimp doesn't appear to have made it in and Krang is the new name for the Utroms). But same graphical engine as Arkham City? Definitely doesn't fit with the new show's look.Of course it might not be a tie-in and have nothing to do with the new show, but that makes me even more skeptical. Why would you make a dark video game with characters from a not-dark-in-the-slightest cartoon that was off the air before your average COD player was out of diapers?

The comic it was based was rather dark as are the later products (the 2000s series and the latest movie) to a smaller degree. The cartoon was made for the sole purpose of attracting kids so they would buy the toys.

Once again, if it's not a tie-in to the new cartoon, why? Just for the heck of it?Also, not for nothing, but I really hate this prevailing idea that the original comics were dark and gritty. No, they weren't. They just weren't afraid to get a little bloody. By the second year they were having weird adventures in other dimensions. Heck, they brought back the Shredder as a damn shark!
I said 'rather' dark. I've only seen a couple of them myself, but you have to admit they are clearly darker than the happy-go-lucky cartoon.
Without a doubt. But let's be honest, the Sahara desert in the middle of the day is darker than that show was.
dark eh? sweet, i feel old school turtles. as much as i love the cheesy cartoon turtles, it'll be slick to see a game with the darker atmosphere. Havn't really seen that since the old comics.I hope to god this is true
