Since it has razza and tokka as bosses on that level, it seems to adapt the arcade version and not the snes version.

Which sadly means no technodrome takeover level.

That kinda sucks. They need to combine TMNT2 and TMNT4 NES and SNES versions respectively (with arcade extra stuff) and make the ULTIMATE TMNT game!!!

Turtles In Time is the most overrated beat em up, ever.

Repetitive, no pickup-weapons, 1 basic combo, and really boring boss battles.
That was understandable in the SNES-era of gaming.
Today, creating an exact re-make of that game would be a complete waste of time.

Sure, if the engine would have been used to make a generic game with characters and a story not based off of anything, then nobody would care. But it is the fact that it is based off of TMNT that makes us all love it. That, the music, the memorable sound effects (MY TOE..MY TOE!!), and overall the fact that its just a fun and easy game.

Kind of like how by today's standards, the lightsaber fight in Star Wars - A New Hope was horribly stiff and boring, yet everyone considers it a classic and memorable scene just because it has personal meaning to them.

So in other words, I am agreeing with you..but still saying that sometimes its more then just gameplay itself that makes a game great..

regardless of the mentioned shortcomings, it's stil better than most beat em ups. What's the point of having 5 different combos if they are all going to work teh same way in the same situations, I remember tmnt actually required different strategies to deal with different enemies/groups of them.

Well, they still do...they just added diagonal movement to make it feel more 3D-ish...but yeah, I'm not really excited about that either.

Also, for those of you saying that it might only be based off the Arcade game and not SNES...I wonder what that first line under the Game Logo means by "Unlock the Full Game"...hmmmmmmmmm.

No, pots is correct.  They now face up and down as they move up and down, not to mention the entire feel of movement and how you attack looks entirely different now.  So movement isn't the same at all.

Changes like this example cheapen the whole experience for me.  I hope it doesn't feel like any old boring 3D game now.

Yeah, I'm making a new topic for this since the old topic is dead and I don't want to get my but kick for necrobumping.

Yeah, I just downloaded the game today, and I'm giving you a review.

This is overall an okay game.  The new moves are good, and you have online co-op.

There are different BGMs, but they're good to, and the controls are good.

Unfortunatly, there are some bad things in this remake.

One thing is the voices. they're hit-and-miss. The voice that says the level name is the same guy that anounces the shows on CW 4Kids.

Leatherhead is a total miss. Whoever voiced him is doing a poor job impersonating Storng Badd.

But the worst voice IMO is Krang.  They made him sound like that winged imp from the first two House of The Dead games.  The Krang in the cartoon sounded beter than this.

The second problem is that this game is a recreation of the arcade version. So those expecting Slash, Bebop, and Rocksteady will be dissapointed.  We only get the evil mutants from Secret Of the Ooze, and the one-episode wonder known as Cement Man.

But the biggest problem is how Ubisoft messed up the continue system.  In any mode other than Survival, you have unlimited continues, but unlike the arcade version, where you continue at the part of the level you lost your last life, in this version, when you continue, you go back to the beginning of the level

I know I'm making a tame rip on the AVGN here, but this remake of a great sequel to the 1989 arcade is a cowa-freakin piece of dog crap.  Ubisoft did a good job on the first arcade game, and when they did this, they made a great beat-em-up into a horrible game.

Avoid this at all costs unles your bent on Achievement Points.  To Ubisoft: Way to ruin my memories of this great game

There are things that you think back on, and they just shine and sparkle.

Beating Turtles in Time together on the SNES with a friend on highest difficulty was one of my favorite things to do.

On highest difficulty the Shredder footsoldiers could block and you had to break their guard in order to throw them.

The yellow footsoldiers with the Xena throwing disks and their kicks were my favorite enemies because they sometimes managed to sandwich you exactly right and suddenly you might even lose a life!!

The ice and fire bosses in the technodrome were so much fun to fight. And Slash was totally badass, and usually the only boss that gave you any trouble.

it's really ismple to break the nostalgia factor, play the game again now, if it sucks, it was nostalgia, if it's still fun, the game was indeed really good.

  • I've got ballllls of steeellll.
Just played it, and as much as I was hoping to enjoy this, thank GOD I didn't buy this rubbish remake.

First of all, I truly loved the original, and still do to this day (played the original just now as well, and yep...  still love it).  But there is nothing about this one that makes it worth playing over the orignal.  First off, the graphics simply do not come anywhere close to retro TMNT in any way, and frankly just makes the game look incredibly bland.  I'm perfectly fine that they went 3D with this, but they failed at it.

And the new music compliments the graphics; bland and forgettable.  At least out of the stages I've played, none of the music was remixed from the original's excellent soundtrack (which would've made me buy this alone if they had).  I found the new walking controls to be wonky and uneeded.  Either incorperate full-360 controls or fucking keep it like it was.  I could go on and on about specific things that truly saddened me about this once great game.

In short, they could've done soooo much with today's technology to make a brilliant cartoon-esque remake of this game (new features and stages would be even better IMO).  If you want to relive this for nostalgia sake, play the original; unfortunately it's still the best version out there.
