i tested gouken. The hadouken is weird and flickery. keep up the work.

He has an illgeal pausetime for his super move.

Might want to change it.

Still need to change that pink hair.  :sugoi:

Also noticed his CLSN's for both the collsion and attacks are all messed up. o_O

His CLSN2's for his attacks and combos as well as super uppercuts and kicks need full CLSN1's over them.

Some already have it but I'd clean them up for next release.

Of course anything else I'll report later.

I think he's good and nice sprites :sugoi: But there are some bugs, like the super uppercut doesn't hit the opponent :'( Finally, in my opinion is this Gouken is better than the ShinGouki clone 8)

Laxxe, it'd be best if he restarted: there's an incredibly large amount of things wrong (some that shouldn't have gone overlooked) and it would take greater time to fix them all than it would to simply salvage parts and start anew.

Look, I know he's your friend Laxxe, and alexlexus, it's very obvious you put effort into this. But I'm just giving you the straight of it. You're capable of far better.

ok he will work on fixing those things, and sorry i tend to jump to comclusions when i misunderstand stuff

@kfm, its probably best for alex to see the mistakes and fix them as opposed to starting over more as a learning experiance than fro efficiancy

Okay, then I'll go a little more detailed on there. I wouldn't want people to think I'm just being aggressive and :P
Not that I'm trying to be offensive, but did you do a quick last-minute test run before the relase ? I can only assume that you didn't really look closely at it.

First, the graphical aspect of the coding.
The second hit of Shoryuuken doesn't have any hitspark, and its hitsound is a blocking sound. Shinkuu tatsumaki Sepnuu kyaku has a hitspark instead of the superspark. Try the aerial Shinkuu Hadou and the Shinryuuken, the super background lasts twice as long as the moves themselves - it continues after the move ends. He slides backward when shooting a Hadouken, and the fireball appears on his torso way behind his hands instead of appearing on his hands. You don't have any dust effects but I assume you haven't added them yet. etc.

Did you try these moves, did you notice that, did you forget to fix it ?
In those case, you should really point out that this is a quick release. Can't see how else to say it, but if you simply didn't take the time to fix those, it can only be called a rushed release. And in those conditions, the best you can get are replies like mine.
If you want to improve on that point, the only thing you can do is, take more time. Never hesitate to test the same moves again everytime you want to check if the character is fine. Take notes, maybe, of what looks weird. the longer you'll keep him on the testing line, the more you'll see most of the bugs. Fix them one at a time, however long it takes, then test everything again, and fix one more. Until you can't notice any obvious problem after a couple of test runs.
Just before making a release, do a last-minute quick test run, and check most of the moves. Of course, you'll probably miss some problems, nobody gets it right on the first time, but things like the above are pretty obvious.

Sound is pretty much the same. The voice for his taunt lasts way too long. The first kick of Gou kick has no whiffing sound. For Shinkuu Tatsumaki, the sound of the supercharge is that of the tornado, and two hitsounds play when he begins and stops the actual kicking. etc. Those are the same as the above visual glitches, you notice them by just doing the move once. Same solution, test and fix one, test more and fix one more.

Then, there's the points where you get a little more technical. A few collision boxes are just completely missplaced (second half of the stand heavy kick), comboability is way too fast because the hitpause times are too short, the Gou kick has very odd velocities (it's really, really weird to see him rise slowly for the first kick, then suddenly gain speed for the second without any reason)... Well, those things can come after you're done with the above. But it'll require even more attention once you'll be done with the above.

But again, if you didn't do much test runs, you should point it out as quickly as possible, because you risk getting answers like mine :-\ it seems harsh, but hey, what else can I/we say if it's true that you didn't really do in-depth testing.. Not that it's a punishable crime, but there's nothing else we can say.
At least, when you react like you did, I can see that you're serious and it's just all a matter of time, and not because you barely cared about what you were doing.
to be honest, it's when I see people saying "good I was expecting a Gouken, good work" and so without trying it that I get worked up. it's more as a reply to that that I post this, rather than directly at you.

well most of the obvious stuff was covered, my only remark here would be to finish a move till its perfect at least for you, not the usual "good enough" most new creators are happy with these days ending up with chars like these (good potential bad execution) but well its a beta and an early one from the comments so ill wait till he is almost final or final to give some feedback, keep it goin and good luck :)

when i asked for serious beta testers no one responded. i had a guy who just loved gouken to much and didn't look at the bugs and i am only now getting the feedback i needed.
so yeah the bugs came out now i released the beta and now people want to say i didn't put time in.
were was everyone when i was begging for testers? oh well
i am not taking it hard just understand that it's kinda messed up when i put it out there
i wanted help. no emo here just wanting to make the best gouken i can.

The updated Gouken showed clearly that this char is getting more and more interesting as times passes by. I think that it finally will be much beter than i imagined, putting apart my prejudices about making goukens...

Playing with him i noticed, amongst other things , that the tatsumaky super does variable damage, depending on the char it hits or something, sometimes takin 20% of the life, others more than 70% and varying (from 200 dmg to 800 to make yourself an approximate idea), sometimes the entire life. Also the air hadoukens do that variable damage, for example, facing Don Drago Geese they dealt like 240 dmg each.... after more playing i noticed that happens with all his moves for unknown reasons against all chars or nearly all. I don´t know if that was intentional or a bug so here it is. The shoryuken, kick shoryuken super does very little damage.

the kintaro sound ofthe super shoryuken is kinda funny instead of serious from my perspective.

i hope that helps im not on creation so my feedback can only be humble.

People here give "tough love".  It's better to get negative feedback than none at all.  Characters that usually receive much feedback are imperfect ones that people want to see get better.  Some authors run away from feedback like this as well, but that's their loss if they don't want to improve on their own works.

sorry too busy with school girl and my own work man and bout beta testers and asking for help, noobs get pretty much no help man i went trough it myself but the best beta tester u can find is urself i personally dont drop a move till i really really like it, every aspect of it if something bothers me even a little i always end up remaking it

and most beta testers just give a quick look, go "i love it man its perfect" and never touch it again... if u looking for some good ones ask exguile or sabaki (both from infinity team) both are very good and give some depth feedback especially sabaki and he is a creator too so he know what hes talking bout when he feedbacks, busy guy but im sure he will gladly beta test, both are trustworthy no need to worry

my code is open source if its any good since my ryu is sf3 too, all i can do for ya

I dloaded Gouken from ascended several hours ago and it was the first beta release. I suppose it got fixed.

Alex, from my personal perspective i only can tell u that your Gouken is extremely slow in all his attacks, i mean, i get hit when making an attack nearly all the time. The opponents, doing the same attack at the same time, hit me first, so i cannot connect a thing.... except spamming hadoukens in the air (double hadouken is extremely slow as well).

This char should be as fast as Ryu Lvl 2, at least, in making it´s normal attacks, that would be perfect for a Sf3 Style char like this one. You should ask Az cal on how to improve that point.

Also, the teleport is nearly useless because is extremely slow too... lol. At least the forward teleport. The animation (when begins) should be much faster so u can use teleport to things other than escape from you opponents, like making an strategic attack; Im used to those kind of teleports shown on all "akuma like" chars (plague) and your is the slowest.

Judging by the Ohsky videos (thanks for filming and uploading them), I see Gouken as another overpowered character, and the reason why Baiken spits in the character (literally :P)

A little thing I noticed that no one said it before: his normal Tatsumaki makes a great among of damage, like half lifebar and maybe more (I see in the video how one of the opponents it's easily KOed just with Tatsumaki)

Also, why he has 2 kind of normal Tatsumaki instead just one?? I see the normal one, and one version which are like 2 flying kicks together.

And another thing may I could readed in MI: Why Gouken is more powerful than Gouki/Akuma?? He supposes to be a purist Ansatsuken practitioner, more than Ryu. So he doesn't have a great arsenal of moves like Akuma (and clones)

Well, I hope those things makes you improve Gouken ;) keep going

the overpowered thing is not kool seeing as i didn;t know about it till i saw the video.
this never happened to me during play.

Well, always it's good to search all the bug posibilities before release something (being a beta as a finished character/stage/screenpack/add-on)

I know you'll improve Gouken with all those feedback (even mine, since it's not very important because I'd judging just from a videos) and I hope the next update or 2nd beta will be better than the actual one ;)

when i say slow i say that it´s slow in a point that only can be fixed on timings or something like that. As i am not on makin chars my feedback can only be very humble, that´s why i suggested u to ask az cal on it.

When others say Gouken is overpowered, he really isnt because he has a bug on making insanely amounts of dmg that triggers by reasons im not aware of (only seen that bug on the second update though).

I think what u already have done in your Gouken is more than wonderful, the problem is that it´s attacks connects too slowly compared to every other char i faced. You need to ask some experienced creator to get advice on that point. it should be easy to resolve, then your gouken would be great. It already is exception made from some corrections on damage done by all his attacks (see my video and description to understand what im talking about).

what i have noticed (to my personal pleasure) is that u added some little things that resembles slayer´s Gouken style (that wonderful only one Gouken that existed considered "illegal" on the "community"). That´s great, see for example how it´s teleport is similar to slayer´s Gouken.

with the damage thing and seven is showing me how to do damage scaling since people compalined gouken was weak and i upped the damage on moves and it turned into a bug.

ohsky you need to record at a lower volume cause it came out distorted.
alos fixed the damage thing it was the  damage damper code
the was triggered during parry and was going hay wire.

but now he doesn;t deal out as much damage as he should so i will have to
edit the cns some more. thanks laxxe for fixing the damage for me. and
vyn i barrowed the drop punch move and needing some pointers cause it works
but there is an explod that make gouken appear in from of  the attack
, i am removing the coding i don;t need but still no luck.

I disagree. As Akumas brother and a Master I feel he definateley needed it. I think he should have a bald head/ponytail combo too. Seriously. That's just me tho...

Now to the feedback, I assume the version I downloaded was already groomed with respect to the previous comments because he plays really well and has quickly  become one of my favorite additions to my roster...

What I did notice though was the very apparent phantom akuma sprites. (in all his dragon punches excluding the supers, in random throw animations regardless of being thrown or throwing someone, and also in his crouching block animations. )

**sidenote**The flames make the dragon punch to me. Excellent addition I suggest making it default. (I found it in his specials cns ;D)**-**,


I actually don't mind doing the edits myself for my own private use and its good practice for my character projects but for others it may not be as convenient. Like now I'm teaching myself how to light/shade since I never really learned to draw. So I intend to light/shade the dragon punch sequence with respect to the flames from his fist.

I do recall adding d,d  a+c to the commands for the shin ryu kick and adding d,df,f  a+c to the shinryuken. I have these buttons right next to each other and was wondering why you left that combination out...

Also u should mention somewhere that his combinations go from light attack, to medium attack, to fierce attack no matter punch or kick or crouching and also that they can mix it up (punches &kicks). I thought he couldn't combo well until I discovered that.

Great character tho. I think your feed back from here should just get better....
The others may have been tougher but they do good work and probably are just trying to get your work even better.

he-man and skeletor are just two act. i loved that cartoon in the 80's

I like it... it's really good character, wish I could make a good one... but I have no ides. Anyways, I noticed something fun. ^^
When you grab with the kicks, for a split second he turns into Akuma, very funny, and not noticable, just a little fun fact for those of you who wanna know. ^^

I agree. You and and Ohsky should collaborate and redo the sprites based off of the Gouken in his avatar. Although I know you must be sick of editing sprites by now.

I don´t think that´s a good idea; his Gouken sprites seems good (although it resembles some kind of Santa Gouken Claus). My concept is another thing, younger but with the same or more potential depending on the creator that would use the sprites. Also, i am not on editing sprites. Im too lazy to waste one minute doing it; after doing those 10 sprites of the stance i said to myself: no more.  ;P


The last update got funnier, but the ground tatsumaky kick (qcb +k) goes up too high in height and don´t hits the opponent properly i think.

Wow great creation not like the first Gouken he's soo cheap and over power....While playing with him he reminds me of akuma coz of he use semi raging storm and shadow movement(teleport) and D,F Kick are usualy use by those who use dark hadou ;P ......

the 2 new supers are kick ass it is very creative

doing the last of the sprites cause i saw the dizzy sprites werent done and i can;t have that now lol.

i am not adding the last two supers till after full release and via a patch.

for the most part i am working on
 final sprites

making sure the hit sparks are ok.

and making certain supers cancel into each other.

redoing palletes, and trying to get more bug testing in.

laxxe saved me again. fixed a explode issue i had. thanks.

which will have that , and the last 2 supers and 1 super from evil and and ryu mixed in honor of reu.

1)the gen super will be like the sfa3 if all coding goes well.
2) the mk vs sf super will be the maximum spider like thing akuma did in the flash
    and i already got some code basing for it.
3) the evil ken/ryu super

    gouken will dash back then dash frward like evil kens sgs suped up dash move.
    but it will have the effects of ryu's giant punch super which is like a shungouku satu with
    the hitting you.

4) something i will keep underwraps to kinda make sure gouken is the master but this move will behave like an mvc vs series stll super
the gouken i am releasing in a few days will be 1.0

Ok here I go. Hope some stuff doesn't repeat itself:

  • The Strong Kick sprite in the air still needs to be editted a little. Some random jagged edges why?
  • The Shoryukens don't fire off hitsparks during all it's hits when it is fired from different angles. Such as a little farther away from the opponent
  • Why does Weak Shoryuken have more hits then Medium Shoryuken?
  • New stance =o needs a little more movement
  • Do you think a little rotation is required for the Gou Hadouken Special so it actually looks like it's headed for the opponent at the diagnol it's going for?
  • Think you should work on the time the spark comes off during the taunt?

Sup Alexus. Sorry this is a bit late..I feel asleep and had just woken up. Not feeling very well.  :sugoi:

Anyways here's some feedback for Gouken.  :)

Hitsparks:

I noticed on his Fireball Haduken rather then like his double haduken they hit rather low. Dispite being a medium hit attack. Not sure if it's the hitdef being for low attack or the hitsparks themselves. It just seems like odd postioning nothing serious on it though.

I don't see anything wrong with the other hit spirtes for Hadukens or attacks and they seem to be well placed. Good job.

CLSN's:

CLSN2's

His stance and power stance ones have really jagged CLSN2's.

This is from his reguler stance or action I.D. 0



See how there are mutiple ones. I belive a good CLSN for this kinda animations where the sprites stay consistant and pretty much togather should look like this:



Give or take a few pixels here or there and maybe adding one entire CLSN2 for the head. The character shouldn't really(depending on the sprite style) 3 CLSN2's per sprite or 4 at the most radical.

CLSN1's:

There not bad to many don't give priority but I noticed some don't even cover the attack sprite properly like this attack here or action I.D. 200:



Threw out the action animations I noticed some don't cover the entire sprite.  :(

I know CLSN's are boring but hey it's what makes a character effective.  :D

Medium kick or action I.D. 240's CLSN1 perturds out of the CLSN2 in the attack animation.

Roundhouse kick or action I.D. 250 has wierd CLSN1's and 2's. The CLSN1's are outside the CLSN2's.

Jab Elbow or action I.D. 205 has pertruding CLSN1's outside the CLSN2's.

Gameplay:

The character is getting alot more fun to use.

Dispite some things above his gameplay is tightening up and his combos are easy to pull off but not to an unfair advantage making a good medium or lower skill level to play.

The afterimages on the dash back and fowward look  abit odd. I think perhaps shortening the time they're on or giving them more transparancy will make it flow better. My opinion there of course. <_<

Overall:

Not bad Alex. Your coming along fine. He just needs a few CLSN tweeking. Sprites cleaned up and some moves hitsparks fixed and you'll be on your way bro.

Nice of you to bring Gouken alive like this and I applaud you bro.

Great job and any other problems like de-bug or something similar I'll post.

Which comics? If you don't mind me asking.

Also in an ending in street fighter alpha they give someone that appears to look much like shen long.

Essentially shen long is just a prank. They even gave him a story about how his fighting style is both japanese and chinese in order to make it ound convinceable.

Gouki is a parry maniac... I can only get a few good hits off with Evil Ken and Ryu... but that's mostly cause their Hadoukens are multihitters. He always parries my Zeeky's Blah man super... which really sucks cause that's one of my best combo starters with that cheap bastard... either way though, he's great... his standing sprite just needs some motion...

I noticed your Gouken has the aerial downward kick (QCF+Kick) and using weak/medium/strong kicks knock down the opponent.

Were you planning on mimicking other characters (ie Evil Ryu) and setting the medium kick to bounce off the opponent?

These are the results:

3 Round CPU VS CPU:

Gouken - CvS Gouki: 3-1
Gouken - Shin Gouki: 3-2

I've tested the new Gouken AI with CvS Gouki by Warusaki3 and Shin Gouki by P.o.t.S.
These are the results:

3 Round CPU VS CPU:

Gouken - CvS Gouki: 3-1
Gouken - Shin Gouki: 3-2

Gouken isn't cheap, its AI is really good but he repeat same moves: For example= Combination 1:LP Shoryuken, MP Shoryuken, Tatsumaki Senpuu Kyaku, Super: Gou Zankuu or Combination 2: Tatsumaki Senpuu Kyaku, Super: Gou Zankuu, Super: Gou Zankuu, LP Shoryuken....Rarely use Ashura Senkuu, Double Hadoukens, Hadouken, Flying Kick....(Sorry for the bad English!  ;P)


i am working on that wth Azcal or if someone else is good with AI can help me i can make more variations in his behavoir.

i told you at first if you were going to implement my gouki's AI just splat on like that, it'll be hard to inter-combine your own moves while trying to see what conditionals I used, etc. Try re-doing it, but using mine as a guidance, it may help if you want to get more advanced with Gouken.

Some of it has already been said, but whatever :

- Just activate debug mode in watch, and look at the flood that pops out (changed to invalid state blabla)
- Once he parries once, the rate at which he can parry all the other hits is too high and not humanly possible IMO.
- Use a lower volume please.
- The HTML readme is ugly : you let the AI commands inside, and you could make some comments about the moves.
- The AI doesn't have the same stance as the human player. o_O
- The stance CLSN changes although Gouken isn't moving at all. Plus, there are too much.
- Super background is misaligned (you can see the stage appearing at the bottom of the screen).
- Some little infinite priority on basic moves. (blue CLSNs must cover red ones)
- The little air fireball doesn't explod when touching the ground. Plus, both air fireballs don't make a noise when touching the ground.
- Big infinite priority on air basics.
- qcb+2K has huge red CLSN on the feet. Rather put them normal size, add a helper to vaccum the opponent.
- The looping explod sound for QCB+2P is painful for the ears.
- Air qcb+P fireball is very slow, and all the variations go the same speed. Try to add some variety.
- 2qcb+P deals 240 damage to a guarding opponent, that's really too much.
- Is it normal the Gouken looks like he's sliding during hadoken (qcb+P) ?
- Hadoken doesn't touch if performed very closely to the opponent (tested on a CVS sized char).
- Why don't hadokens have an explod sprite ?
- Hadoken effect still has a shadow.
- The dragon sprite on D,D+b+c is cut, which doesn't look very nice.
- D,D+b+c removes too much life for a Lv1 super.
- If you jump over the opponent and continue jumping holding the jump button, Gouken won't face the opponent.
- All super give back some power, whereas they shouldn't.
- D,D+x+a has a column effect which should touch the ground IMO instead of being cut in the air.
- light dragon punch deals more damage than medium one. Invert them.
- On his hard dragon punch, he has pink hair (basic palette).
- He doesn't say anything on air hurricane kick.
- Jump forward + HK = WHAT ? Look at the sprites (though I suppose they're in WIP) and the placement of the hitspark.

- Hitsparks on hurricane are slightly misaligned, and the hitboxes need some work.
- D,D+y+z still doesn't make sense IMO.
- B,D,DB+K has a horrible looping sound (and also have the WIP sprites).
- Teleportation would be better if made normally, so that we can control the distance and if we want to go forward or backwards. Here, it's too predictable.
- You may want to exchange the kick and puch throw commands, as the y+z is a tomoe nage (kick throw) and vice versa.
- b+c throw creates a huge debug flood.

That's what I could find after some testing. I haven't tested the whole gameplay system yet, and the various combos, so there should be more. He's much better than last time. Now, I think he really has enough moves to be able to react in whatever situation. You have to polish all the moves and make them perfect in all means. A solid gameplay is the key to a very good character.

Good continuation, this character truly has potential.

the dragon being cut off is ligers fault, he made me do it, ill make sure that alex and i get those things fixed, also i will eventually try to get that high kick in the air to not look crappy once i or alex have time for it, but thanks very much for the feedback this is exactly whats needed to help alex complete this XD

new gouken beta out at ascended mugen site. sgs added but there is a bug i will fix tomarrow but you can still use it , the target might vanish on some chars but rest asured i am on it.

Well after testing him out finally I'm seeing a lot of improvement, but you need to Get rid of that horrible Jumping FK sprite already or add some more sprites to it and the uppercut touches are great but I think you need to add some more hits to it seems kinda odd he twirls in the air for no reason afterwords lol maybe make it vacuum the character in???..... other then that seems great, just no gen super yet   :-\

heavens phoneix driver kick super


animated the power stance a bit


added new buring effects for the fireball super.

and fixing the parry  timing. cause after playg a friend of mine i saw that i was abused and made gouken cheap.
as much as i wanted him to be able to keep up with ryuuken and seven the parrying will be adjusted.

And you use some of Akuma's moves. Don't. Use some others. :)

A sprite in his intro doesn't really have a color match with the rest of the pallette

If you going as far as to make D,DF,F,x+y and D,DF,F,y+z, why not make a D,DF,F,x+z?

alexlexus i don't know if this has been mentioned before but when gouken finishes off the other player with his shungokusetsu he keeps repeating his winpose when the hawk symbol apeares in the background. Not sure if he's supposed to do this just thought id let you know.

I like the new makeover you gave him its awsome :)

as far as improvements he is more solid now.

Yeah, I had a lot of problem with that, all the thing is that I had to give back control to the character just before entering the winpose (at least, that's how I managed it):

Is it possible to remove the MvC TAG option out of this charecter. When I use him in Team Arcade mode one hops out the fight leaving one to fight alone by himself til he dies.

I must say that I am a fan of this creation and have just got the new one at Ascended Mugen.  Didnt think that you would make him 10x stronger than the original one you had.  Is there a way to turn that off and use it as a Shin version?

Gouken is 100% completed and for those who are having issues with tag i will release a non tag patched version after release. but you can hold how Z when you pikc him to turn it off.

exapmple pick him and press and hold z tille the round starts.
better yet check his cmd it's going to show you how to turn it off
