Which is your favorite character to be redone in HR/HD? Keep in mind that the character needs a rival. Last poll Ryu and Geki were tied in votes.

Hey guys,

      The purpose of this topic is to see whom likes what two characters from different series ranging from anime, fighting games, or other; that I will be posting up every two weeks. You can say a Hero and his/hers Rival. In most cases I am sure that topics will start off from the star of the series so it really depends. Why? I am coming close to an end of my project and now that I know the ropes in spriting and animating I am in a stage in my Mugen life that I am not sure what to do next on future projects.

Think of it as research for me and also voicing out on what characters you'd like the most especially if it has been done before or hasn't been done right. This will help me a lot to clear the air on what to do next and what people want the most. No one can please everyone but at least it would cut it close. So every ones vote counts and please feel free to let me know why you would want this character and if there is something that you would want to be changed and such. This will also give me a better understanding on what to do with the character.

As you know I don't work with low-res sprites. I will only work on High Resolution or HD. The shading style I use is in the mix of Guilty Gear, Blaze Blue, and Persona 4 Arena. So this will also bring an of an upgrade to low res sprites. I have nothing against low res sprite artist. If anything I have the high respect or them.

Starting from the Street Fighter Series. I wanted to make a voting Poll but as you can know there are a ton of characters to go through. I am going to break down SF1, SF2, SFA, SF3, and SF4 to narrow it down to only two characters.

I chose Geki, since not only does he have an awesome design, but he runs really low when it comes to sprites (in terms of game appearances of course.) So coming up with new moves and refreshing his design will be somewhat fun to work on don't you think? :P

I chose Eagle before reading as he simply is my favorite character as is (for the most part), but the fighter I'd want to see reinvented would be Lee.

I see potential in him being characterized as Yun and Yang's drunken uncle with drunken fist techniques and all. Plus with 6 other kung-fu users in Street Fighter already I think that it'd be the most obvious and logical direction to take to differentiate him from the rest.

Not many Ninjas or old timers in mugen or SF for that matter and I would really be interested in seeing a Retsu with two or more Kempo stances/styles...kinda like what Gen sports in his gameplay.

Ah yes, the old school Ninja which reminds me of Haiyabusha from Ninja Gaiden just with claws instead of a sword. It's true that his sprites weren't much being that i checked into them and yeah coming up with new moves would be great in that design. Problem I think Capcom redesigned him to be Vega if you think about it.

Well  Eagle they already kind put him in CVS so its a meh but would be nice to see in hi res.

Yeah, would have to really tap into the different and many kung fu styles there is out in the world and I if myself or anyone could they would do without any taunts and use the start button to change styles like Gen and the police dude from Tekken. I believe his name is Lei.

Yeah but the good thing about Retsu is that he would be more of the Shaolin way than what Lee would be.

So far, Geki and Ryu are tied with three votes each. I will take that to note and put up another poll. I am going down the line of each SF series to come down to only two to three characters to make. Keep in mind that in a way I am really looking for the ultimate duel. Good vs evil in a way; Rivals.

I wouldn't mind seeing anyone of the four TMNT characters in hi-res since we still only have those old SNES sprites of them.
If we are only allow to choose a Streetfighter character then Chun-Li would be nice as well.

Because Sf has a decent huge list I am trying to narrow it down to two to three characters, maybe four. Once I narrow it down I will go to a next fighting game or anime/manga.

Here is what I am trying to set up. As I said before, after I am done with Mel I have an idea of who I want to work on next but I want also know what people want in the community, so I am trying to get a roster together by narrowing characters from each series of fancies. Unless I just make my own roster and say the hell with everyone else lol but I at least want to see what are people are more interested in.

Why not just say what I am planning to do? I dont like speaking about upcoming projects and let people down because I couldnt get around to it. At least if I have something organized and I think its good enough and have work on it, then ill be glad to announce it. Right now all I can say is that I already have two of my original characters in there. And when I say original I mean the characters I have written and made my own concept art for them. and thats all imma say.

So please vote and let me know why if you can on the characters you want most and just remember that they need rivals.

Whoops I Birdie wasnt suppose to be on the list. It was suppose to be Balrog. Ill put that on the next list. As far as the EX series go technically they arent really apart of the "Street Fighter" world no? But if you want an SF EX character I will make that into an option after the SF Polls are done.

And if I didnt mention a name yet is because im going down the line:

Meaning I wont use the name more than once. once that is narrowed down I will put another poll to finalize it to do two, three, or four characters.

Shouldnt be hard to make. I would just need to do research on him being that I have no knowledge of this character. And I said I would get to the anime part :D

OH THAT DUDE!!! stupid google lol that anime character came up when I typed it in LOL I think I remembered that character in that SF the movie game wow its been so damn long. I dont even remember his moves. I would have to youtube it unless there are sprites running around some where to see what he has.

Someone already converted him for Winmugen, the sprite quality sucks though.

converted? You mean he just didnt use the crappy MK technique sprites and did like a sprite over? If so eww... Well if I can find good videos on his game play this wouldnt be problem. but lets see.
