I've been out of work since the beginning of August due to a broken leg, and I've had to pinch my pennies until I return to work on the 2nd of December. So, I haven't picked up any new games. I've pretty much dominated all the ones I already own and was wondering what I've missed during my recovery. So, what game(s) should I pick up once my paychecks start coming again? I own a PS3 and a Wii. I know Fallout: New Vegas and Force Unleashed II are out, but I wasn't a big fan of either of their predecessors. What else has been good in the last 3 months?

You can't go wrong with Dead Rising 2.  Hours upon hours of endless zombie killing fun.  I'm currently on my 3rd consecutive playthrough.

Doesn't hurt to have a coop partner for it either. Nothing beats riding around on a little bicycle while wearing Banana hammocks.  ;P

Except maybe using one of the *ahem* 'massagers' you can find in the back of the tanning salon to kill a zombie.  That's always good for a laugh.

Seriously, koldskool, pick up Dead Rising 2.  There is way too much fun to be had there.

First off, I appreciate everyone's suggestions.
Banana hammocks.
*ahem* 'massagers'
That kind of ridiculousness is right up my alley, I'm sold.
Red Dead is another I'll probably pick up along with Castlevania and Shattered Dimensions.
I've never heard of Demon's Souls, though. I'll have to do some research and check out some vids.
I already own NMH2 and love it.

Yeah I'm waiting for it to hit bargain bin mode in late December. Shame as the first one looked and played so much better.

saints row 2

Batman arkhym asylym or whatever

bayonetta

These three are fine choices if you haven't played them and you said you like crazy, right? Saints Row and Bayonetta fit that perfectly and THEN SOME.

I already have Arkham Asylum, Bayonetta, and Saints Row 2.

Also, I already posted my review of Sonic 4 in the Sonic 4 thread. (It's not fantastic, but it's not the trash that the fanboys claim it to be either)

I'll probably pass on Castlevania after reading/watching some reviews. The level of difficulty doesn't appeal to me.
I let BlazBlue slip through the cracks because I've been devoting a lot of time to SSF4 and Tekken 6, not sure I want to get into another fighter, yet.

People are hatin' on it because it feels more like God of War than castlevania. If you're a hardore Classicvania/Metroidvania fan you might not like it. Otherwise is pretty cool for a causal gamer.

If you ever intend on playing anything 2-player (you know, with another person physically in the room with you) and/or if you enjoy tower defense games, definitely look into PixelJunk Monsters.

To this day, it's my most played, longest-lasting 2-player PS3 game between multiple friends of mine; this coming from somebody who typically hates tower defense titles.

Another fun one is the South Park: Let's Go tower defense game. You definitely need at least 3 other people are else it's insanely hard.

the GIANT BOSS parts play pretty much the same as the bosses do in SOC. well, without the hold meter and the creativity :P

Yeah, that works.

While I heard that game was great, it's only on Xbox360 IIRC.

From what I see it's a pretty good hack'nslash game and no doubt one of the better 3D Castlevania games.

Might I also suggest the Plants Vs Zombies game? Another fantastic tower defense game.

I am a long time Castlevania fan who thought 2D was the only way to have Castlevania after those awful n64 ones, and can also see and feel the similarities to God of War. Yet I don't dislike Castlevania: Lords of Shadow at all. Not the best or most original game ever made, but still damn good and lots of fun.

Then again I do want to have sex with Patrick Stewart's voice...

Batman Arkham Asylum is also the shit, ended up being one of my favorite current gen games.

I'm pretty dated otherwise, aside from Castlevania and Vindictus(some free PC mmorpg). Tekken 6, Batman, and Uncharted 2 are the most current games I've played. Speaking of which Uncharted 2 is pretty fun as well.

I played it first on the 360 and back then they had TONS of online issues. Was just wondering if they fixed the netcode for the PS3 release.

Very nicely put.  :)

I'll second Uncharted 2 as well.

At 10$ The game can be REALLY fun when playing with friends.

New DLC is also supposed to be out/coming out. Includes a new character and a few other game modes. Good price too for such a fun and long game.

I have the add-on, too. I'm still trying to earn the "Catch 25 flying objects as Knives" trophy, I have all the others. Dodge ball is fun, too. Survival Horror is still my favorite mode, though.
