I googled, 2d fighter maker, and I came across MUGEN. After downloading it, I youtubed it to see what it was all about, and then I shortly later found mugenguild. Been a member ever since.

I was on some forum and some guy made a topic about mugen and posted some screens and stuff.Then I searched a video of mugen on youtube and then I googled it and downloaded it.Been playing mugen ever since......

OH. Just remembered, a big part of me getting into MUGEN was this combo vid I saw... I saw so many good official characters, doing combo's I couldn't believe. (Like Evil Ryu's downward slash kick thingy, infinite, with really tight timing)

For me, it was watching Youtube videos from Judgespear and LuigioSMBZ. After a while I found a video tutorial on how to get Mugen and set it up, the rest is history.

i got into mugen in the year 97 (i think) when looking for sexy artworks of felicia (I was a kid sorry.... but I'm still one) and I got into a page that said: naked felicia. I entered there and downloaded a ZIP with a lot of weird files like .cns, .cmd, etc. where is the naked felicia? i asked to my monitor, but it didnt answer. I checked the page again and discovered it was a char for a game called mugen. so, thats how i got into mugen. sad, isnt it?

Was Googling some images of Zero from SvC (probably to make an avatar or sig) with and I came across N64Mario's site, and thought, "Hey I remember that guy from VGDC." There, he had fake SvC screens which I found to be funny. I browsed the sprite edits section, some of which he said were for MUGEN projects and I was wondering "What's MUGEN?" So I went to the MUGEN section of his site to see what it was, and here I am.


Man, I can't believe that was only in early 2005...

About 5 months ago i first downloaded MUGEN...but becuz i didnt know how to put chars into there and no tutorial helped me i gave up on mugen and moved over to MKP. After about a month of that i realized that it was like MUGEN so i moved back over to mugen and realized that putting chars into muge nwas the same as putting chars into MKP and thats how i got into mugen......again.....somewhat

I was kicking my friends asses Rectams on my UMK3 emulator and then this wierd bald guy shows up behind me saying something about blue pills and red pills. I wanted to see how far the rabbit hole went and took the red pill.
It was not long before I blacked out.
I woke up in a bar with no money, and no phone hating everything. Hating pretty girls, Hating Sex, Hating you... (Thats right I said it) but then I took a sip of some bur (Codename for Beer) from the bartender. I don't know what the hell happened but I blacked straight out.
I woke up several hours later with a hickey on my areola and sitting next 'Devastating' looking woman. She reminded me of Donkey kong in a hairy, strong, grab stuff with your feet sort of way. She was whipping corners at 100 mph making me eat sandwiches, telling me how pretty she was. I was scared all I knew is that she scared the s*it out of me and I just wanna go home. Upon hearing that she gave me 1 last sandwhich and I wanted to F stuff that I never wanted to F and then somehow I ended up with a Mugen.  ;)

The overwhelming amount of people that discovered mugen through youtube pisses me off.

It means 2 things to me:

That in a ratio of 100:1 about every 100 people that learned about mugen through youtube about 1 person would actually take the time to make something for the engine and not show a shitload of crappy characters in a roster vid just so they can stroke their mugen cock.

And the second is that more and more people will call mugen a game and treat it as such when really it is a freeware engine. As such they will try to sell it on ebay or on the streets or try to market themselves as a game creator when really they are not even half qualified for that title.

Needless to say I don't enjoy the younger generation. It is the reason why bullshit has been pouring in.

I feel bad for todays creators or the people aspiring to create because that means they would have at the least two times the population of people who would leak their work.

what made me get into mugen is that I was on Youtube one day. I typed Family Guy. All of a sudden, I saw Homer vs Peter in a Arcade, 2d style match. when I first looked at this. I asked myself: "What kind of game of this?" Then I looked at Mugen. I kinda viewed this as my "dream game."

I was on you tube serching for tales of symphonia stuff when I came across a mugen battle with Collete and Kratos fighting a giant black guy. At first I thought it was fake so I went on serching Tales of symphonia stuff. A few weeks later I was serching for some super mario 64 bloopers, when I see another mugen video of Wario vs some other guy. then I find another mugen fight of mario vs luigi and a whole bunch of other mugen stuff. I then googled mugen and thats how I got it.

Back in 2002, after modding everything i could on the original The Sims, i started to actually get interested in making games. and my favorite genre were always fighting games.

so i bought a magazine with tools to make your own game. among OpenGL, DarkBasic and whatnot, there was MUGEN.

installed, tried do install a zip called "EvilKen0.7c", but only saw KFM. couldn't add anyting else. so i dropped it.

months later, another magazine "make your own fighting game" and again, MUGEN was there.

this time, i actually took a look at the readmes. on the very CD, I found the character i tried to install the first time and character named "Angel" who i tought to be Angel from X-men. as i'm a comic book fan more than a video game fan, tried to install Angel. I had succes this time, but Angel was not the guy from X-men, but a red-head semi-naked chick with cowboy pants and boots.

during 1 year, i kept browsing and downloading chars. I spent most (if not all of it) of my free time doing just that. I knew about Community rules on uploading other people work and distributing them with the engine, but i totally ignored that and tried to make a site with compilations.

by the end of this time, in 2003, i actually needed the help of the mugen community to track down a character called "Silent Storm", as well as his female counterpart. so i signed up (against my will, since i did not liked forums back then) to MugenBR. a few days later, i posted about an Anstsuken (that back then i tought were shotokans) themed compilation i wanted to do and release. but this time, since I did not wanted the community to be mad at me and keep to provide rare chars to me, i posted about asking authorization to use 50+ characters from 50+ different creators. the MugenBr guys said that most of those creators did not spoke portuguese, so i should try asking at Mugen Fighters Guild and Mugen DEV. so i signed up on both boards, and posted the same topic (in english of course).

the rest is history.

(BTW, before anyone asks, the project never came to be. never got any of those authorizations.)

It was this very old Evil Ryu VS. Violent Ken video on Youtube. They Shun Goku Satsu'd other before the match began. I don't think the video exists anymore though.

I use to love Ryu by P.o.t.S, Kusanagi by Jin & Ryu by DG. Ah, how the times have changed.

Back in Summer of 2006 (or is it 2005), I was watching alot of Haruhi anime on Youtube. This is the time when fansubbed videos are plenty on Youtube.

Then while I was looking for the next fansubbed episode, I come across this:

Soon, I learned how to make videos and achieve the same fame.

What got me into mugen??? well i just saw a video from veoh where homer simpson fighting against naruto, peter griffin and the incredibles.
After those vids i saw, i started downloading mugen itself, characters, stages, some screenpacks, fighter factory and i made my first character ever.
I've been playing mugen for about 8-9 months now.  ;D

It was 1999 and I was bored as hell with KOF91. Lucky of me, an Emulator Site listed in their news a post about a new version of M.U.G.E.N.

The rest is history. The first forum I visted was the defunct MugenDev, from where a lot MGuild members originally started.

Long story short, I came across Mugen on Youtube sometime in 2005. I was mainly browsing through random vids(forgot how exactly I found the Mugen vid though), and came across a Mugen vid on accident. I later searched for it on Google and found Mugen through there. I didn't tinker with it much until far later, though.
