I have very bad a memory, but I started thinking, what is the first game I ever finished? I'm pretty sure it was Felix the Cat on NES. I have several fond memories of that game.

I really have no idea which game it was. But I know it was a NES game.


And I just remembered that I've never ever finished SMB. Not even once! :o

Ooh... tough one.  I wanna say Mega Man 2 on the NES, but I can't actually remember if I finished that way back then or not.  If it wasn't that, then the first game I ever finished was Super Mario World for SNES.

Can't remember that far back.  I don't think I really ever beat games when I was young.  I just played them to the point where they were too difficult then just stopped.

However, I remember that the first game I was ever proud of beating without using a cheating device was Secret of Evermore.

Super Mario Bros. 3 for the NES. It's my favorite Mario game to this day.


Oh wait, first game I finished? Probably Pokémon Yellow. And yes, I did catch all 151. First 100%



EDIT: Now that I think about it, maybe it was one of the DKC games (most likely the second). Either that or Super Mario 64...

Probably SMB1.  Most epic finish was Rygar though.  Graphics glitched in last hour of play and the game rental was due back soon.

- ColecoVision: Donkey Kong (I still have the original Cartridge that says "Licensed by Nintendo" before the first NES/Famicom ever was released...The card chip is oxidized and the glue on the back of the sticker label is starting to give off, but still...it's a treasure to me)

The earliest one I can recall beating without cheating was Sub-Terrania for the Genesis.

And I actually never beat SMB other than the SMB:Deluxe versions. Granted, back when I had a Gameboy my choice of games was low, the others being Pokemon Blue and a BMX game.

Tetris for the gameboy can be considered endless but I believed I finished it when I beat game mode B on max settings and got the Fat Rocket to launch.

Or possibly Volley Fire.

Super Mario Land 1 was too hard for me lol, I beat SML2 first.

I used to have bootlegged gameboy games (50) that I rinse over and over when I was a little kid.

The first game I beat was Super Mario Bros for the NES. First game I "finished" was the pc version of DooM. Finished meaning got 100% on all of the level stats for every map, found every secret and beat it every difficulty level.

Hmm... probably SMB3. I remember beating it a few times when I was pretty young. I might not have beat SMB1 until later.

I spent my younger years with games that were really impossible to clock. They just got faster/added more enemies.

Pango
Pacman
Tapper
Flash Gordon
Sea Dragon
Bushido

AFAIK none of these had actual endings.

Moving on from that, first game i ever finished was probably Commander Keen: Invasion of the Vorticons. Commander Keen 4 and OMF2097 coming in a close second. I know i finished the first Jazz Jackrabbit a few times as well (the first episode, not the whole game)

Other than that, unbeatable games with no ending that were fun, but far too hard to beat at the tender age of 7.

Oh yes, some of the later levels of Lost Levels, at least what I played on SMB:Deluxe, were of an Every Villian is Lemons variety.

And, oddly enough, it had a convent way of gaining lives at the beginning of the game.

Super Mario Land was also my first when I was in kindergarten.  Beat the hard game after it too at that age.

Pretty fucking impressive now that I think about it.  I couldn't ever do that now... somehow I had more patience when I was 6 years old? :S
