I mean in particular. Is it trying out characters that should have been in games (like Alexlexus' Gouken), creating your own, etc.? I personally like collecting. I mean, I play the game once in awhile, but I like collecting the great characters from these talented people.
duping myself into believing I am exercising my computer scientist muscles by coding moves...and then doing the same thing i do with computer science and stop doing it all together
Absolutly i just love playing all these chars that never had the chance to be in games like streetfighter ect. The fact that you can make just about anyone in mugen, make your own game and just have a huge brawl. A year ago i never knew mugen existed and just played games like cvs2 untill i saw videos of it on youtube. I envy all you people who are keeping 2D gameing alive.

As far as keeping 2D gaming alive, I was just thinking the same thing yesterday. If it wasn't for Ahuron (and I know lots of people distain him) and others I wouldnt know of games like Big Bang Beat and Arcana Heart, which are keeping the 2D games alive in the arcades and also giving new materials for Mugen.

Challenging myself. As i don't play anymore because i find more enjoyment in the real games, i like to challenge my coding ability by trying out new and different things. This is helped by the fact i rather like wierd characters.
Fun to play with friends. I like playing fighting games, but sadly only in few of them can you play on the same side as your friend. Besides M.U.G.E.N, I like to play SSBM too.
*Playing Fighting games on mame, namely Motw, and finding new appreciations for the creators who made almost exact copies of those characters in Mugen.
...affinity for the fighting genre, creative liberty, boredom, reluctance to withdraw from a comfort zone, etc.Of course, Mugen does yield those sporadic, hilarious moments.
The idea of being able to do better than commercial companies for free! Or in Ren's case, being able to better than a minority doujin group.
all vs all + things you will never see in a 2d fighting game + crazy masoquism one vs another = M.U.G.E.N => I like it
This personal combination always keeps me entertained=========================================- MUGEN with EVE screenpack- POTS's Vega versus Splode's Captain Commando MVC2, set for five rounds,- playing at Ukyo's stage in Samurai Shodown V,- with this song playing in the background
Yay for topic revival!!!On topic, I enjoy the drama of this community. If not by it, I wouldn't be here any longer
You can make your own characters & other 2D fighter related things, share them with the community, profit.
it enebales you to challenge yourself to see if you could get your chars exactly how you imagined them and wanted them (it's not coding challenge only)

For me is all these funny moves that keeps me playing. Designing new stages is definitly a cool treat.
I enjoy M.U.G.E.N because I use it to play against my friends and family with an incredibly wide range of characters from games they're familiar with and know how to play. It's pretty funny to see the expressions on their faces when I kick their asses with a character they've never even seen or heard of before. *cough*PEKETO!*cough* Other than that, I really enjoy creating/converting characters the way I see fit. It's all in good fun for me. While the drama of the forums can be somewhat entertaining at times, playing and creating for M.U.G.E.N is what it's all about for me.
I gotta, say, I liked MUGEN better when I was making Kirby characters instead of attempting to make Ren.
In my humble opinion, even if you felt strongly about working on them because of whatever issues you and DGJ had (I can't imagine what happened there), that doesn't mean you have to stop doing what you feel is fun. It's not like you have to release them once they're done, right?Who knows? Best case scenario: You might end up patching things up with the guy somewhere down the line. And even if you never do, anyone can (and should) at least appreciate the end results of the efforts that they put into their own works.
QuoteI gotta, say, I liked MUGEN better when I was making Kirby characters instead of attempting to make Ren.Why do you think i make so many chibis.Tell me what was special about jareds system. I'll recreate it and you can make some more (that's about half serious, i do still have bonkers and leo on my select screen while warusaki's king has been deleted)
I remember starting Ren because I wanted to try something different from my older stuff. Additionally, I was getting pressured to not finish my then WIP King Dedede (before the Jared problem, certain individuals were trying to make me give up on the guy on the grounds that they "had a much better idea on how to approach the character"), so I figured I might as well take my mind off of Dedede by focusing on Ren. While I learned a lot more while coding Ren than my other two WIPs, I feel that it lacks the personality I tried to convey in my older works, and what I currently have feels like something is missing (aside from the super cancels and FX I haven't coded in yet).Cyanide said, June 10, 2008, 10:37:52 amTell me what was special about jareds system. The only rewriting in common1.cns as far as I can tell involves sound playing back on certain movements and sparks that appear, and I guess running backwards instead of dashback. I might take a break from Kirby though, and after I release Ren in one form or another (either as "complete" or as "take over this if you want, I'm tired of him"), I might try pick up Toad again.
