well after my posting in the final fantasy thread here, I have been wondering why alot of people are prefering the ps3 over the xbox 360.
why is it that most of you here prefer the ps3? what is it that makes the ps3 better than the xbox?

It just turns out that way, given the general preference. This doesn't mean people suddenly hate the 360.

I have none of them, but plan on getting a PS3 soon, just for these reasons :
- A few games in the line up X-Box doesn't have, such as MGS4 or Heavy Rain.
- Blu-Ray. So I don't need to buy another device.

PS3 became rather cheap now, and both consoles are more or less equivalent when it comes to performances.
Can't tell much about the online gaming, the pricing of this and all, though.

i prefer the controlles, fighting games play better on it, the exclusive games are more interesting than the generic shades of grey shooters on the 360, also bluray is better than dvd, plus more jap games are developed for it.

PS3 has Blu-Ray. Otherwise, the two pretty much are equivalent now. Also I'm more used to the D-Pad of the PS3 instead of the 360.

I don't, I think PS3 was a stupid purchase since MGS4 sucked but at least I have a Blu-Ray player now.

PS3 is way better than XBox 360. The reason I play the 360 more often? Halo: Reach, Left 4 Dead 2, and Gears of War.

It's a typical question from a 360 megafan.

I have both but I prefer the PS3 for a few reasons.

-Controllers are thinner (360 Controllers are more fat imo) I hate fat controllers.
-Some DLC games that Xbox doesn't have, such as Fat Princess (Although too cute like, But the game isn't half bad)
-Some PS3 only games such as MGS4, Heavy Rain and Modnation Racers (And a few more...)
-Better looking menu screen and console look overall
-No need to pay for Monthy(Yearly) Online play subscription's

Thats most I can think on the top of my head, but the 360 has a few things I wish the PS3 did.
If I can't be the best, I sure as hell can be the worst.

As for your question, I bought it for a number of reasons, one of which was that it was made AFTER xbox 360 and it had far less hardware issues reported.
So far , ive been getting games from the sales bin in britain and I cant complain, it has been extremely cheaper and the only reason i can see to get a 360 would be to pirate stuff.

I love and always will love my xbox.

But You have to admit the obvious sometimes. PS3 online is free. It has Blu Ray. and a more broad variation in Exclusives Xbox = halo(shooter) Gears of War(Shooter) Fable(who cares >.>) and Used to be exclusive, Mass Effect(RPG Shooter?). I guess the only innovative game we actually get is eventually multiplatform  :-\. let us have God of War!!!

But I keep the xbox for a couple main reasons.
1. The controller is simply more comfortable. Everything is placed where they should be(Ergonomics beyotch!)
2. I already enjoy the friends I have on there. Plus party chat is a REALLY good feature.
3. I <3 Microsoft. I have faith in them. They've been around this long for a reason.

The 360's controller, save for the d-pad, is far far superior to the PS3's. The interface and menu systems are so much more intuitive and nicer looking. And updating a 360 is simple and painless and doesn't make you want to tear your hair out.

But the main reason the 360 is better than the PS3 is that it has motherfucking Shadow Complex. OMG I love that game so much. <3 <3 <3

The 360 had SNK online games. At one point that was making me want to get a 360.

But now the PS3 has the SNK store so I don't even need a 360 for that anymore. I had a regular X Box modded. I downloaded all kinds of games on it but never really found anything to keep playing it. So it left a very sour impression with me. If I can get all the games for free and can't find anything to play then that's pathetic.
Then the games I liked were fighting games and I had to use the X Box controller which was NOT easy to do.

That bias transferred over when the 360 came out. And since the PS3 had no region protection I could import. At the time I didn't think Battle Fantasia would come to the US so I just imported it from Japan.

Because its exclusive games and game series

free online play and the controler  plays a role too

on the xbox there are only a few exclusive shooters and kinect games

on the ps3 you have little big planet, gran turismo, disgaea and so many more exclusive games and series of many different genres, not just shooters

I find the 360's d-pad to be stiff and always gives me callouses when I use it.  I also disagree on the menu systems because I find them confusing and ugly.  I like the slick black stylism of the PS3.  You've definitely got me with the updating though.

I dont see the update problem? Today there was a update, a warning popped up when i tried to login, I went to system, clicked update, it asked me to accept the update and then i let it run its course. Doesnt seem that odd?

PS3 Has less problems than the 360, as pointed out. The problem I have with Sony is that they tell their customers what they want. Geez, let the customers choose for themselves. I have the 3DS, and it kicks ass. If only it my access point would stay connected to the internet long enough for the system update to complete.

From what I can understand a majority of ps3 owners chose ps3 for personal preferences. I think all consoles cater to different preferences and you should just choose the one that satisfies your needs. Fanboyism is a horrible reason to choose a console because you'd find yourself dissapointed. Besides fanboys are annoying....

??? I've never had that problem with my dpad. :P Then again I play Bass so my fingers are like rawhide these days XD
Menu system for PS3 is pretty straight to the point. XBox is much more dynamic. but not confusing.

THe update thing I can't really comment on. Game or System update, they're all annoying no matter what you play (MMORPG first time run anyone?)

1.) Free fuckin Online I ain't paying shit.

2.) The Exclusives (Disgaea, God of War, Etc.)

3.) I like the controller more.

-Can be troublesome to navigate
-installing games can take a little bit, but the positive is less loading times
-Controller (personal preference)

+Party Chat
-Monthly/Yearly Fee
-accessories are more expensive
-doesnt blue ray
-higher rate of hardware failure

I got PS3 because of Chad Warden.



I've got both, PS3 overall is a superior console, but it really comes down to the games in the end anyway(unless Blu-ray is all that important to people which it seems to be). In that case my PS2 beats out both of them, and my PC beats out my PS2! :o)

But between 360 and PS3, definitely the PS3 due to it's exclusives. The main thing I wanted a 360 for was Castle Crashes, and that's came out on PS3 in the end. PS3 wins me over pretty well.

PS3-Blue ray / 360 what happen to the HD drive?

PS3-built in wifi /  360 you need to buy it

PS3-chargeable controllers / 360 stupid charge kit

PS3-Free online gaming pay dont play its the same / 360 pay 50 a year and you will lose out if you dont play everyday.

PS3-Way better controller / 360 cant play fighting games for shit unless you buy an arcade stick

PS3-different verity of games /360 shooter shooter shooter shooter and pay companies to get things unexlusive so they can have it on their systems as well. thus i believe 360 was to blame for FF13 epic fail.

PS3-brows through the net if needed / 360 seems to be lost.

Should I keep going? Only worth for to get a 360 again is for only Gears of War. thats it.

This is a pretty stupid complaint.  I don't like the 360's controller either, but only because of the button layout and thickness of the controller.  As a GAMER, you're SUPPOSED to get a callous on your thumbs.  You DO know what they do for your thumbs, right?  Well if not let me help you......THEY MAKE IT SO THAT YOUR THUMB NO LONGER HURTS WHEN YOU PLAY THE GAME FOR LONG PERIODS OF TIME.  The ps2 pads are FAR more aggressive on your thumbs, and yet are the best to play fighting games with.

The only reason I'd buy a 360 is for one game. DeathSmiles.

And for the most part every game is only semi-exclusive unless Sony or MS owns it.  So saying that you're buying a console because of a massively different library of games is stupid.  Almost every game that comes out on one comes out on the other and even PSN games have similar games on XBL.  As it stands, the 360 has more American exclusives on it and the PS3 has more import exclusives.  I chose a PS3 because I like how it performs, the free internet access, the familiar controller and I enjoy the exclusive games on it.

The main reason I didn't buy a 360 is because I'm a Sony whore.  That's not to say that I wouldn't buy a 360 if there wasn't the right number of games on it that I couldn't get for the PS3.

And all of this doesn't matter because people will drop both of them when the WiiU comes out.

Sometimes I get in the zone too much and miss completely.  I don't rate the ps3 pads because their trigger buttons aren't the same as ps2's.  No point.

Anyone who's played enough fighting games knows that ps2 pads had slight differences in them as the ps2's life went on.  Some of them had rough dpads while others were completely smooth.  Sometimes there were dpads that were really loose, other times stiff as a brick.  Hell, I go to a college that has a game night where people refuse to play on other people's pads because their's plays the way they want it to.

Most of the games I'd want on the 360 are also on the PS3 or the PC. Infinite Undiscovery and Magna Carta 2 are the only exclusives I'm interested in.

shadow what? shadow of the colossus hd? yes thats true thats only on the ps3

shadow complex? isnt that one of those games which appeared only for xbox because microsoft doesnt allow xblive games for both consoles?

I can't hate any console. I even enjoy some of the games on the Wii. Reality is I'm a grown ass man now with bills and priorities so I gravitate to the console that has the most games I enjoy, free online pay (I don't care how much better X-box live is supposed to be it still costs extra), and that I can play with my other mostly grown ass friends who also have bills to pay.

I love Xbox, I love Wii, I love Playstation. Not because any are really better or whatever. I just love games in general. There are honestly enough games on each of them for me to get behind. I just can't give a shit about all of them at once.

Note: Shadow Complex would be nice though :/

PS3-different verity of games /360 shooter shooter shooter shooter and pay companies to get things unexlusive so they can have it on their systems as well. thus i believe 360 was to blame for FF13 epic fail.FF13 had and epic fail? Didn't know since most of my friends played and enjoyed it. so what if most of our exclusives are shooters. they're good. It's not like it's the only games you have to play. And let's not forget Mass Effect was bought for multiplatform by PS3, Our multi-awarded GOY exclusive that you guys couldn't wait to get your grubby hands one :P

Should I keep going? Only worth for to get a 360 again is for only Gears of War. thats it.and Halo, Kinect, Party chat, Dedicated community, and fable, and play original xbox games, Way more comfortable controller, and content a reason to spite sony players :P

Xbox has some nice games that PS3 does not. But most of them are on PC as well.

PS3 just has more better games overall. And thats what gaming should about. Games.

Want to know why?

- For starters, the PS3 hasn't fucking RRODed/YLODed on me while the 360 had done so....twice.
- Online is free. Even to this day I still don't get how Live can get away with charging for online play(Live is good, but it's not THAT good. Not to mention that the majority of the reason they charge you in the first place is for useless shit nobody asked. In fact, that's the reason for the price rise late last year) something my parents exploited the hell out of by only getting us Live on summer and winter. And don't give me that "pay it yourself" or "get a job" crap, not everyone can afford one.

Those are my primary two reasons really. Don't really care for exclusives since most of the games I play are multiplatform anyway and in the end, exclusives only matter to the taste of the person.

I've owned a PS3 and a 360, so I can give my opinion.

PS3 has a lot more pluses, yes ... Bluray player, free online, exclusives.
- I'm about to buy a used Bluray player in less than $70.
- Sadly PS3 exclusives are of no interest to me, other than MGS4 which I didn't like.
- Free online ... with lots of lag.

XBox 360 has died on me, and then LOL RESURRECTION.
- Interface is a lot simpler, friendlier and more lively.
- Xbox Marketplace in itself is a motherfucking party, tons of indie games + KOF UMs not available for PS2 in my region.
- Xbox exclusives are relevant to me. Yes I bought the fucking box because of how much fun GEARS was.
- My online XBL Gold experience is vastly superior to the free one I had on the PS3. Worth the money if you can pay it, yes.

All in all, I'm enjoying my 360 a lot more :-X

I actually own both systems; I like to play my FPS's on my 360, and I play majority of my fighters on my PS3.

We all can say "to each it's own" but it's more about what you're comfortable with. I enjoy both for different reasons--let's keep this thread going.

Entirely dependant on how much money is spent on the PC and the resources that go into it.  A good PC will invariably cost more than a current gen system.  Not saying they aren't good, but they are expensive.

I prefer the Xbox360
- I'm an online gamer and I never really play offline for anygame (besides Dead Island) so Ps3 really ain't for me
- I play MvC3, SSF4, Gears3, CoD(All), Halo, ect. and I REALLY prefer the xbox controller over the PS3 (I have CoD, MvC3, Socom4,SSF4:AE on PS3)
- I don't have to worry about the long ass loading screens
- The dashboard is great, keeps me up on the latest info and gamer tips along with special promotions for upcoming games and what-not
- I can listen to my favorite music in game so I don't have to play music over my computer over-lapping my game's music and sound effects
- It's easier and faster to get in your messages and you can just join an XboxLive party so you don't even have to be on the same game as your friend to communicate with one another threw your head sets
- The community actually poses a challenge (Ex: I get on Xbox CoD and I actually have to work for my killstreaks and when I get on PS3, I wonder if anyone is actually even playin' cause I'm runnin' threw teams with a MP5k gettin' dogs and on ps3 nukes [I have all the map packs on MW2 Both systems and map packs on BO] On MvC3[ps3], everyone is using the same sorry ass team Wolvy, Akuma, <Name Here> and they really are terrible if I can beat most of them with all 3 men still standing but on Xbox they actually made me quit the damn game but SSF4:Ae, that goes to Ps3

As someone that has played MW2 on both 360 and PS3, I can safely say that both communities are about the same. MvC3 PS3 requires you to get to 4th Rank before it starts giving you actual challenges.

The PC once had a ton of exclusive games/releases...but today it is different..nearly all pc games are also released on consoles ..or the pc version is just a port of the console version. Its rarely today a game gets only released for the pc.

And many game genre`s are not or underpresentated on the pc today.

sigh, ok here's 5 "new" exclusives  : the witcher, red orchestra, starcraft 2, dota 2, tf2. then you have the old exclusives which are still played till today and are superior to half of the games released these days.

Please don't make me write a list again, I hate doing that fanboy shit. Most games should be multiplatform for a larger audience, exclusives are BS. Until then, for the multiplatform games there's always the PC and consoles for the few exclusives! Most of my favourite games are multiplatform so hooray for me!

My PC's total cost is $400 (initial price and upgrades total) since 3 years and runs every game for me at good settings and games in retail are $20 for me, not counting Steam sales.

Slim pickings? PC is the platform which has the largest library of games. Did you people get into gaming with the 360 or something?

Exactly. A PC can run the same games but better with user control, mods, free online, dedicated servers, higher resolution, better graphics, ability to use any form of input (keyboard+mouse, gamepad, flight stick, etc.)

You can have your console exclusives too, nobodies forcing anyone to use one platform or another. PCs are dirt cheap at this point with cheaper games.

Also I have to again disagree with "most" since nearly all western games have PC releases while the Japanese are still behind on that.

Japan dominated the console space in the 90s whereas Western devs dominated the PC space. Then the western PC developers started paying attention to consoles since this gen and the Japanese publishers started struggling to compete with the formerly PC exclusive developers now that they entered the space. The Japanese developers are coming around to it though, with Sega and Capcom publishing more PC games.

I can see how you might think the PC lacks "ports" if you're more into Japanese games, but that's just speaking for yourself. Your "most games" is actually a minority.

Recettear is a pretty cool game.

...It's the same connection, the connection speed doesn't change if you use an Xbox or a PC, if your connection is dirt slow it doesn't matter if you use a PC or not.

Also, PC can emulate older consoles and even some newer ones (Ps2, Gamecube, Wii); I actually am playing some Wii exclusive games on my PC, I finished The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, a week or two ago.

I wasn't really serious in that post :P

The only thing is that I use Wi-Fi for the PS3, and there's not a lot of reception from where I play. Computer is directly connected to the router, so connection is better.

the price issue on pc is overblown, unless you ONLY use it for gaming you have to consider the amount of things you can do with it apart from that, which more than justifies the extra cost.  you can watch blu-rays on your ps3, cool, i can do everything with my pc.

and since this is a current gen discussion the issue of emulation isn't really relevant, but at the same time, i can play just about anything i want up to last gen on my pc in the realm of questionable legality.  the pc's potential library is basically every game ever.

there is definitely a gap between big budget console releases and pc ports, this is balanced out a bit by the exclusivity of pc-centric genres like strategy, etc. that will never be considered for release on any console, depending on your interest in those genres.

my dad tried to buy us an NES when i was four but his credit card was maxed out, so he considered it an act of god and never bought us any console ever.  but we got a computer when i was eight, so i'm biased.  i still own a wii and 360 but i never play them.

I do all of that on my PC :P

...Now to be honest I like the ability to take pics or record while playing, or also mute the music in a game and play anything in my winamp while playing. There are actually many other reasons why I like to play on a PC besides better performance, ability to mod the game, to use any pad config, etc.

Admittedly no internet browser on the 360 is pretty stupid especially since it's Microsoft and they could have optimized IE for it or something and doing the whole Media Center trick is too much for some people.

And yeah, I doubt my friends would want to play MvC3 or SSFIV on a computer, especially since the former isn't even on it.

You obviously never played 4 player Mario Kart 64 in one keyboard. Or hooked your computer to a TV, having a PS/2 and USB Keyboard connected at the same time and play Tatsunoko vs Capcom and Smash Bros Brawl in high definition better than the console.

I used to have to do keyboard sharing for playing games on the pc, then i got older and i could afford a console, sure, you can get a few controls and prepare stuff on a pc, but i find consoles far better for anything related with friends.
