Hey guys :D
I was working on a new character... hopefully to bring me back from my hiatus - when I go to test her, her sprites are invisabile :*(

Now - its only been about 5 months... and I'm sure I've experinced this problem before, but I can't seem to find a reason for it.

Could you help :<?
Yes I edited the .air btw.

Reasons:

Bad format on sprites
referencing wrong sprites
referencing non existant air file
time on all frames is 0

Check sprites are correct. Confirm groups and image numbers (and animations) in air file. Check your def for names being right. Check that you don't have 0 on frames.

No dice :(

I reformated it from .BMP to .PCX
Double checked the .DEF and the .Air
(Editing KFM if that helps..)
And the frames have time.

In FF do the frames show up in the air editor?

It's going to be something incredibly stupid and probably related to a fighter factory shortcut. Your sprites are definitely 256 colours? Even if you think they are, double check by extracting one from the sff and opening it to make user.

Thats the last thing i can think of. FF doesn't kill those sprites like MCM or MEE did. So you've got to confirm it.

Its actually 24 BMP - the 256 ruins the sprite :(

Hence your problem. FF although it claims to convert, makes a mess of things.

Unbreakable mugen rule. Sprites must be 8bit .pcx files.

  • Foolish, but learning.
You'd have to use another image program to open them, change them to the proper type(256 colour palette, indexed colour) and re-save them.

GIMP works well enough.

I'm sorry to keep saying this - but how exactly do I do that on GIMP? >_<

are you sure you have made the palette correctly? and applied the images to the palette.

also when you add the animations "add group to air" or "add air" sometimes FF creates a blank frame check for blank frames.

other than that i havent a clue

Well it worked when it was 256 BMP - but the only issue was the quality.

I'll give the pallete a try

ok.

The thing is i use 24bitmap images and i have used 256 they both worked for me becuase fighter factory converts them into pcx files anyway.

the thing about FF is that its full of glitches and errors like you have to set up your char a certain way ect.

but yea give the palette a try.

personally i use fighter factory update 1, the latest version is update 3 i think but i find that to have more errors :-\

you could use MCM(mugen character maker)  but i think FF is more convenient and easier to understand

You can only use 255 colors.  If your work's quality degrades when you convert, it's because you have too many colors.
Second, if you look in GIMP there's something called a colormap.  That's the palette, and every sprite in your character should have the exact same colors in the exact same sequence in order to function properly.

Although you still can, the GIMP is not user friendly when it comes to managing palettes.

But I'm sure I don't have 265 colors..

Heres what happens
     From      to

In the past when I was working with FF - it usualy converted it for me. For example when I was working on Madame Foster, I never noticed her color change until I wanted to recolor her (and her hair had more then 265 colors alone)

Looking at that, it's a problem with HOW you're converting. I've never seen a "nearest colour matching" do that. Are you converting them in MSpaint or something? If so, don't.

Get the proper program. Things will go much simpler.
