Do you think there will ever be a chance of a traditional fighter, that akin to the King of Fighters, with Nintendo Characters ever occurring?

Would you want a traditional fighter with Nintendo characters?

I think one based on the concept of "The King of Fighters" would work!

The only traditional Nintendo FG I've ever wanted is a Soul Calibur-esque Fire Emblem 3D fighter with Link as a guest character.

Will one exist: Nope. probably not "family friendly" enough...

Do I want one: YES. But why KOF? Why not like Rakuga Kids or something? Looks like us fans will have to make a decent one...

  • For honor!
There should be a fighting game by arcsys that's based on the Super Mario Brothers movie. Watch out for Dennis Hopper's basketball infinites.

This sums up my thoughts on this matter though i would also be fine with a Arc System Works Fire Emblem fighter.

I really don't see what the point would be.  We already have Smash Bros filling the 'crossover Nintendo fighting game' gap quite nicely.  Why would anybody want them to make another, much less unique crossover fighter?  A game like that would basically boil down to "Here's our version of the same thing everyone else is already doing, except we put Mario in it."

Smash isn't a fighting game. It's a 2d platform party game.

it's a game in which nintendo's beloved family friendly stars beat each other up. it's no different from a regular fighting game in that aspect. don't be dense

also "2d platform party" lmao what the fuck

The only "fighting games" Nintendo made in the past, way before SSB were born were Joy Mech Fight for Famicom/Japanese NES (and unofficially, Kart Fighter for the same console). This is the closest Nintendo made a fighting game in the vein of SFII and similars. But the game never came out of Japan. Probably if the game was famous enough outside Japan, maybe they would make SSB in this style of FG, but that wasn't the case here. Hell, even if this game was something famous on Japan itself, maybe Sukapon (the fighting robot protagonist of JMF) would appeared in some of SSB editions, or even in this last version for WiiU

Rest in peace, Toriyama-san...

(Laughs at the thought of Nintendo making a traditional fighter were you get close-ups of Mario uppercutting Peach in the crotch)

I don't think it would ever happen. However, if I were to suggest a type of traditional style for them, it'd be similar to Tatsunoko vs Capcom. I think that'd be perfect for a "Traditional" Nintendo game. It's a core, combo fighter, but visually remains lighthearted enough to get away with it.
