Title: Galacta Knight Released!
Post by: Solarflared on November 11, 2017, 04:23:03 pm
Well, I decided to release a character I was working on today.
There were a few bumps here and there, due to both procrastination and computer data loss, but hopefully this is good enough to have been a long time coming.
This is the first character I did in the proper MvC1 style, akin to Yamori X's Lilith and Daniel/Midori's Patoelietoe II. Before now, I've tried to avoid the MvC style for the longest time, in due to how overused it was.

i wonder what pokemon will you release next? I hope it's one of my favorites like sceptile because there's already a decent greninja
Ohhh boy, Sceptile. I remember how that went.

But in all honesty, it's not Sceptile. It's another Pokémon. I'll give you a hint sooner or later.

Galacta Knight's .def file has been updated to fix some ordering issues that were present. For one, the galacta.snd file and the common1.cns file were the most affected by this.

Seems like it's fixed now. I'm gonna keep playing him, and see if I can find anything else that might need fixing.
Though, perhaps it's my unfamiliarity with the MvC style.... But, I feel like some of his moves are actually pretty unsafe even on hit. His Drill Rush for example. Unless I use a Super version on top of it. I noticed I actually got punished for using it in an air combo.
But to be fair, perhaps I need to fight non-boss types. Sachiel's air version of his anti-air comes out VERY fast. But, this might be something I should further test.

In MvC, most special moves normally do not cause soft knockdown. If they did, then you'd be able to catch airborne fighters in infinites, especially through the use of an anti-air like Mach Tornado.
Although, if you want me to increase the hitstun on moves like Drill Stab instead of applying soft knockdown, that's fair play for me.

Hm.... Eh, the more I'm playing as him, the more I'm getting used to it. I might need to do more fights. But so far, I've been finding out little things with him. I currently have a video of him uploading. (Though I'm trying to at the moment decide which match of these two is better....)
Edit: Alright, I decided to scrap the ones I had, and decided to make a completely new one. I'll just put it in a spoiler tag. Just so it doesn't cause unneeded clutter in the topic.

Well, we've got more updates! And a list to go along with it!
Quote
* Increased hitstun on all versions of Drill Stab, hopefully to make it safer. * Damage and active counter frames reduced on Shield Bash. * Damage and target's y velocity reduced for Comet Crusher. * Damage increased for Dimension Slash (but the number of total hits have been lowered to compensate), as well as said move's minimum damage dampening being bumped up to .75.

Where's Galacta Knight's arcade ending?

They're optional. I didn't make an ending for him.

* Tweaked hitboxes for most of the normals, as well as the hitboxes for Mach Tornado, Comet Crusher, and Orbital Edge. * Drill Stab blockstun lowered by 4. Opponents on the ground are now lifted into the air upon hit. * Mach Tornado no longer has full invincibility past animelem 3.

Pretty sure Gladiacloud wasn't ever making such a character. This is just that guy who keeps going around wishlisting things from creators and then expecting them to create such.

...is it okay if I revive this thread? Yes, no?
I started working on a bit of an experimental A.I for Galacta, and I've updated his file accordingly. Feel free to redownload to check it out.
