That's a really freakin cool hyper.

The only suggestion I have to improve it, is if you slow/speed up the background animation to give the hits more emphasis - since the camera is following Superman who is changing speed.  When Superman charges forward to hit the BG anim should speed up, then slow down when P2 is hit.... speed back up again for 2nd charge, slow down for 2nd hit.

I had to cut out the planes from 300 something sprites by hand to make it happen. I kept thinking to myself (this better be worth it in the end). Luckily it turned out pretty good.

That's a really freakin cool hyper.

The only suggestion I have to improve it, is if you slow/speed up the background animation to give the hits more emphasis - since the camera is following Superman who is changing speed.  When Superman charges forward to hit the BG anim should speed up, then slow down when P2 is hit.... speed back up again for 2nd charge, slow down for 2nd hit.

The hyper where it's showing a side view will get a speed boost. It actually looks better/faster in a normal resolution Mugen, but the widescreen version which I record with does look really slow. Thanks for the feedback!

Looking good man! Obviously the beam(s) need to get extended out a bit further for the full screen.
One suggestion would be to have the ultra at 2:50 have a wind-up and a punch. The 1 frame holding out the hand just doesn't seem to have the impact.
I think if Superman could throw a boulder that'd be awesome !
The sounds for his CAPT. Kirk punch at 4:31 sounds more like it connect than it whiffs.

You talking about when he starts his speed dash? To you it sounds like it's an impact sound instead of a dash sound? As for the boulder i'll keep that in mind. Sounds like a good idea.

Another preview of Supes. This time showing off a new throw & a few of the many scenarios that can happen on his Up & Away hyper. The hypers speed has also been increased.



Is this the 1st Rebirth version of New 52?

I think Jmaxximus has based Supes costume on that version. I haven't really talked to him about it. There will be different costumes & versions/play styles within Superman so it's best to assume this is universal version of the Man of Steel.

Showing off yet another scenario. This one might not be for everyone, seeing how some people don't like their heroes destroying stuff. So I'll have a different file on release that doesn't have this scenario in the mix.

I for one think it looks awesome, I don't feel bad about since the area looks abandoned.  Supes can do stuff like this as long as he is not actively throwing and destroying around obvious civilians.  As a matter of fact why don't you add him saving some civilians in some of the parts.  Example:  the parts where he is knocking the opponent up into the buildings he can save some random people especially rescue some from the fire on the upper floor.  The only thing I would want is a little more debris and smoke on the initial slamming into the buildings to hide the jaggies that pop up.

and I wish this supes had a smart pal for the red trunks...always thought it weird to cover supes in pseudo armor and collar...it kind of detracts from him being super...anyway great work

I agree about the red trunks. I'm starting to wrap up the coding for the alpha release & then help Jmaxximus on the sprites. When I have time for that i'll make a new smart palette for the trunks & other costume options. As for the hyper. The civilians saving idea is not bad. Keep that in mind while working on scenarios.

Yeah watching your vid there is enough pauses to save on one bottom level and one lower level...you might not even have sprite the full civilian. ..you can have a blur and achieve the rest audibly with "thank you superman" and "help" but not in that order lol

And did you say alpha? If this is true you're too kind

A lot of work has been done in the past two weeks & so I thought it would be a good time to show another battle. In this clip you can see that the normal heat vision FX have been changed & a glow effect added. The ground now burns on his angled down vision. The coding is starting to wrap up & an alpha release will be coming within the next month. I'm going to start transitioning into helping out with the sprites. More moves & features will be implemented after the alpha release.

He's not being made by Electro, but he was released by Verz and Loganir long ago.

Excellent progress, I'm impressed with the quality of the animations!   :yuno:

Only as a suggestion, you could see the superman special move in the injustice game is IOS / Android, it is similar to the ones you are adding to the char ( 1:53 )

 I've been keeping up with your progress on Superman since his announcement and, frankly, I am pretty hyped to try him out. He looks like one of the most polished and varied versions of Superman for MUGEN yet that isn't an overpowered mess. I wonder if you take gameplay suggestions.

 Some nice touches like all versions of Heat Vision do bonus damage against characters frozen by Superman and the rock chunks remaining from his meteorite hyper being makeshift projectiles that can be launched by Superman's hitboxes. Those would be awesome.

I always enjoy suggestions. I'll certainly think about the idea & play around with it to see if it fits. I don't want to spoil a few surprises that I haven't shown yet, but I will spoil this one & that is that Superman doesn't always bring down a meteorite for that hyper attack. Sometimes it's a car etc.. so that would play a factor in adding your idea or not. Thanks for the suggestion.

In the video, at 2:53 -ish, you throw him into that air bounce move, then you freeze the ground, then freeze him.
It would seem like it'd be possible to do an infinite with these 3 moves. Have you looked into that?

Good news I've made a smart palette & have started working on various costumes for the Man of Steel. Even better is now Supes has new moves for couple of the costumes. I will be releasing a template for the palette about a week before the alpha goes live for anyone interested in making palettes. I hope everyone enjoys the new updates & will have more surprises to announce as the month goes on.

Superman has a new voice which was made by HyperVoiceActing. Also previewing alternate hyper options for Electric Superman, New costume Herald of Galactus + moveset & finally some new items for Superman's meteor smash hyper, which can now drop a car or telephone booth.

 The voice reminds me of DCAU Superman, which is great in my book because those were some of my favorite Western cartoons of all time.

 Cool looking super once again, although I feel the line where Supes announces the attack name could use a little more energy behind the voice to give it more feeling that the stakes are high like when Superman actually does get serious.

With Superman's alpha being released in a few days this will probably be the last post I do about the character for awhile in this thread. I hope everyone has been enjoying the previews I've shown over the last month. So here is the final smart palette as well as a template in case anyone wants to plan their own costumes. I'm not the best when it comes to color theory, so i'm sure others can make better palettes than I was able to make. You can get a decent amount of costumes out of this. Below are the costumes that will release with the character. Only Electric Superman & Herald of Galactus have to stay in the character because his moveset changes with these palettes & the rest can be changed to whatever you want, but feel free to make Electric Supes & the Herald better than what I was able to do. Last is a preview video of Electric Red Superman in action.
