Title: Question about a place to post for asking for critique
Post by: krudelu on January 28, 2017, 05:22:26 pm
Hello,

I've been playing around with tweaking some characters for a while just for fun so I'm getting some motivation to try to make a character little by little in the past despite not deciding to really start on it.

Recently, due to a certain sprite rip release, I became more motivated to try making a character so I'm now starting to make one.

Despite me trying to make a character, I'm still at learning stage. Since I've been making some progress, I want to be able to ask for critique/feedback when I get certain parts done so I can try to improve step by step.

Is there a certain thread where I can make such post?

You normally can show your sprite works creating your own thread on that section of the forum. (http://mugenguild.com/forum/graphics.340)

EDIT: Depending of the style of the sprite you are making, you can show single ones on a specific style thread[CPS2, CPS3, CVS, SNK, etc.. There's a Master List where you can found the thread style you are used to make :)

If you're just looking to spitball some ideas, make a thread in Idea Engineering.

If your character is at the point where you've got it running in MUGEN, make a thread in Projects and put some open betas out if you want critique.

Once the character's in a releasable state (i.e. hopefully not a horribly buggy punching bag) make a thread in Releases.

Well in my case I'm using sprites that are ripped by someone already so I'm putting them now and having it run in MUGEN.

For now, I got certain animations aligned and some clsn work. I wanted to get critique on my current progress. Would that be good enough to be posted at the project thread? Or Idea engineering?

Sounds more like you're looking for some Development Help, but if your character's at the point where you can make a video or take some screenshots of it running in MUGEN you can post it in Projects.

So would it be good to post about asking for critique/feedback/thought regarding my current sprites alignment and CLSN works in the development thread then? I'm also planning to make a DL for it for people to be able to check it.

That would make the most sense yes.
If you are happy with how it goes and want to release it or proceed with the work then it would become a project and a release.
