This is a new "make your own" colaborative intro for Piccolo. He's going to be standing next to a defeated monster and regenerate his arm. Deliver us more fallen demon or monster sprites like this awesome Xenomorph that Daeron did;

The shape of the arm looks a bit off, to me. Specifically the part where the shoulder meets the upper arm. Kinda seems like with the angle of the shoulder, the arm should be going in a different direction.
As for the animation, it mostly looks good. It kinda lacks a real feeling the new arm bursting out of the wound. Maybe if the wound pulsed like it does now, then swells up to create a feeling of tension on the flesh and finally the arm bursts out.

Dead is always better, we will remove them from stage via burning or just leaving the corpse there. ( burning in case the body part is too large)
They can have all the animation they want, but its best if piccolo is not doing anything to them directly at all, since the piccolo part will just be him regeneratng his arm.
So, nothing like piccolo kicking them or whatevers.

That's a pretty nice idea but his anatomy is a bit weird, he's very buffed up, however you know that One Piece's characters are usually very slim as a stylistic choice, so you should make him thinner.
I edited your sprite a little, to show you how you could go with it:

I dunno, Nemesis seems too short in comparison to Piccolo in here. The sprite style itself doesn't feels too fitting either.

i had to use rotsprite to postion him correctly. because in the original sprite he was in a weird angle that didn't work as lay down.
so it may have missed up his pixels a bit.

Yeah, I tried to make him flatter yesterday, but all I did was ruin the sprite. Maybe they can adjust the sprite's position to be on the proper plane? :S

the legs would still be flung about, for that to work i think your best bet is to take a enpty screenshot, draw lineart in what you want to have in the final shot and then finish that sprite.

you don't really have to continue working on it if you don't feel like it.
but if you still want to do it, then i guess you should just redraw his legs into a position into the watcher's prospective. easiest example i could give you would be from this thread:

the body itself is okay i guess, it's just the legs that need a re-positioning . also, he's way too big, possibly bigger than Z2 broly so you may want to make him a bit smaller.

Nah, I'll work on it.

I think Nemesis is fine size-wise, he is pretty humongous. Seeing that it's pretty nearly done because of HQ's gracious and venerable fix, I think I can handel it.

I'll use that Zoro edit as a reference though, thanks. (Poor Zoro :()

I'm personally not too fond of the idea of just taking character sprites from other games and throwing it in just for the sake of a cameo. It doesn't feels as surprising, as opposed to seeing new sprites of different defeated opponents laying down on the ground.

It's a demon, as simple as that. The contest requested/requests demons so I drew one three months ago.
The black thing near the head is the hair, it's not blood; and he has horns on his shoulder and head. His skin colour is (should be) red.

While im assuming thats not finished, You should look at it straight up, and compare the lines and build of the body, do you think they fit? Notice tha tthe anatomy is kinda screwy, buu hands wouldnt even reach his pockets if he was a real person.


I think you should avoid characters that might end up created, as the intro would conflict

The movie is just plain bad. Not even so bad it's funny. just bad. Going back on topic, Evolution Piccolo Z2 would have to have the derp walk he had in The DB Evolution game on PSP lol. That would take forever to animate so I doubt that ever being a thing.

Majin Vegeta, Frieza, and the already made Piccolo sprites are one way to go. But for this one, you should try Frieza.

I think he [Balth] even said it himself on the Z2 thread, that for referencing, refer to Majin Vegeta and Frieza, and someone else whose name I forgot.

So I'm a bit late with saying this, but doesn't starting a battle with damage seem kind of lame?
Now if the animation happened after Piccolo had already lost a round to his opponent, that seems more fitting to me.

Would this work? I made the head the size of the Goten and Trunks in the Gotenks thread.
I sampled a lot of colors.
The hair color is from one of the Trunks sprites.
The skin color is from the Bulma at Vegita's intro.
The Yellow is from Piccolo she is standing next to.
The red is from the Mr. Popo Piccolo beatdown intro.

The plan is to have Arale pick up the poo off the ground with Piccolo's hand, and run off before he kills her.

Thank you. You are right about the head being too big.
At first I thought it was just the hat, but there is too much space between the eye, and the ear.
I will have to adjust that.

Because then you couldn't really have an explosion as huge as that one,
he would be damaging himself!
Keep in mind there can be much bigger demons lying there,
we need a good and huge blast to cover them as much as possible,
so they can vanish afterwards without just popping out of existence.

I actually forgot I made that.

I guess the last thing you would need to do is make the bottom part of the coat flat and as if it is on ground,

EDIT: I also forgot: One of the shoe pairs has a straight ending that should be curved out. Other than that, congratulations, one of your nightmares has been killed off by Picalo.

I don't know if I mentioned this, but he will get an alternate version where his arm isn't severed,
he's just standing normally tough. This means you can make smaller, weaker monsters as well.

Chrono Trigger, Metroid, Castlevania baddes, the sky's the limit!
I'm working on a Crash Bandicoot boss myself, for instance.

Now prove your spriter's worth and make some demons for Piccolo to blow the f*ck up!  :picco:

Some of you guys might think that Balthazar made Red Ranger from Mighty Morphin Power Rangers who uses Tommy The Green Ranger's Dragon Shield but, we based it on Super Sentai. Geki is the Red TyrannoRanger from Zyurangers. He summons his brother Burai's (Green DragonRanger) Dragon Armor. Burai passed the Dragon Armor, Zyusouken and Dragon Caesar to Geki before his death. That's why Geki is made. Because with the armor on Geki, you'll also remember Burai so it is a good tribute to it's source.

What you see in this animation is that Piccolo's blast get's deflected after the armor is summoned. Just like the original. He then teleports away. It is a good decent addition and very nostalgic. Piccolo is for me very respective with nostalgic Characters such as Geki The TyrannoRanger from Zyuranger and Ripper Roo from Crash Bandicoot. I believe cameo's from the past fits Piccolo's personality aswell.

Yeeeees, its great to see Sentai getting more love, I personally love sentai a LOT more than Power Rangers. I personally would rather have seen Burai but Geki is a nice choice as well

Looks like a cool project. I'd watch your perspective on the guns though. They don't really match up with the head. The angle should shoot more towards the background not to the camera.

Yeah the enemy in question doesn't HAVE to get blown up, just look at that Red Ranger.
The only 'issue' with that is that it most likely requires additional frames/animation.

I think its collapsing inwards when he leans forward because the top part adheres to the curve of his back at the top letting less free material to dangle and thus creating the collapse.

Hai. It looks like the bottom of the cape touches/rests on his rear heel, so it's unable to flow/bellow inwards further.
It's also a heavy phat ass cape with that stuffed rim!

Yeeeees, its great to see Sentai getting more love, I personally love sentai a LOT more than Power Rangers. I personally would rather have seen Burai but Geki is a nice choice as well

Glad I'm not the only one with a DigiMon submission in the works! (mine's MachinedraMon).

I know that Impmon's eyes have that anime expression, but maybe shorten the open eye's pixel height by 1 or 2 pixels (1 is better)? Other than that, love the idea, and what you have so far, let's see where it goes from here. ;)

He doesn't have any eyes (or his eyes never shined at all, or blinked) in the source material, so adding that wouldn't make sense.

So I've begun preliminary work on my second and final submission for this wonderful contest.

It's Onaga from Mortal Kombat. Like Machinedramon, he will be drawn directly on computer without drawing him on paper first.

Any advice/things I should watch out for (I'm aware of the shoulder pads, they will be redone)?

@Balthazar: this might sound like too much, but would it bother you by any chance to post a template with a bigger explosion (preferably with one arm regeneration Piccolo)?

That explains a lot. I had a bit of a hard time determining how big I should make Onaga, as I couldn't find a proper height for him (I always assumed he towered over the other Kombatants in the source material), but reading what you posted, yeah, I went high up with the height.

So just as a final clarification, should I make him a bit bigger than Piccolo in this case? Thanks in advance. :)

He is bigger than Piccolo but not by that large a maragin. If say Piccolo is 6 feet tall then Onaga would be about 8 - 8 1/2 feet tall.

I think RMaster's character would be fine if:

- it was just a regular Worm from Worms, not a worm with special hair
- RMaster at least made an effort to make it look like a Z2 character
- the worm just ran away when Piccolo tried to blow it up, instead of something that required new animations.

Yo, that's a huge improvement right there. However it's still problematic. If it doesn't bother you, I edited it a bit:

Your sprite is very, very liney, when it shouldn't be. Usually, anti-aliasing is used to prevent that. In addition, the colors of the lines (in your version) are only one color for his body, which isn't very good looking either.

I hope this helps you a bit, and I can't wait to see how the tombstone comes out. Don't hesitate to post for feedback! :)

Hey, Thats is an awesome idea, however I think you should start from scratch tbh. Get an image of chaos from the side, like this one:

flip it, crop out choas and trace over it in the image editing software you use, shrink so it is in scale with piccolo and go from there. It takes a lot of time, frustration and anger. but your going to feel amazing after its complete, I guarantee it. Spriting takes patience.

Hey guys, remember my worm suggestion?
I have an idea, after Piccolo fires away at the worm, the worm flies up into the air and falls back down, he gets stuck headfirst in the ground, after popping back out, he takes out a TNT plunger and blows himself up, leaving behind the grave from Worms 2.
I made a sprite of the grave, but it's pretty crappy IMO, can somebody make the rest of the worm sprites (based off of Armageddon) and the Worms 2 grave?

An interesting character.  I read a few D. Gray-man volumes, but couldn't get into it.  It seemed a little slow in the beginning.[/offtopic]

The guy kind of reminds me of Jack the Ripper in a way, but pretty creepy.  Can't wait to see the final result ^..^

Well it's better in the Geese, even though he goes up and down just 1 pixel, there are minor changes to the shading in the second frame which makes the whole thing a bit more alive, you could take clues from that ;)

also, i made some fixes to the bill cipher entry i made

For that Piccolo's intro, I was thinking about Impmon crossing his arms or standing in one knee in defeat and fleeing once Piccolo starts that attack. Of course it's a W.I.P.. so I'll try to do that.

Glad I'm not the only one with a DigiMon submission in the works! (mine's MachinedraMon).

I know that Impmon's eyes have that anime expression, but maybe shorten the open eye's pixel height by 1 or 2 pixels (1 is better)? Other than that, love the idea, and what you have so far, let's see where it goes from here. ;)

Good grief I've been so late on this, but I'm gonna get to it. Hopefully it's not too late but thanks for the feedback!

Sorry to bug you again but do you think you can get some cool sounds for this? Like the small demon laughing? A sound for the FX force field thingy, and maybe a cloak sound?

EDIT: Got a laugh for the kid. Just need cloak and shield noise

I could see Dabura playing like Mortal Kombat's Sub-Zero. Turning people into stone instead of freezing them.

Very cool seeing the new intros for Piccolo!
The intro are differently random. It took me over an hour of selecting the character, and the Esc button to see my intro with Prince B, and Dabura.
It was not exactly how I thought it would be, but it was worth seeing.

I don't know if I can post this here, but I have a bit of an observation about how you implemented one of my intros (the one labelled "Don't Remember").

I noticed that you made the animation so that the laughing and the glass shine are just one continuous animation. I was wondering if it was possible to make it so that he stops laughing once Piccolo lets out his blast, and let his glasses shine before the blast comes into contact with him. Because that was actually the intention I had when making it. If it isn't possible, you are better off removing the glass shining effect, because it feels weird, the way it was put together.

Piccolo has already been sent off to the ikemen division. I can no longer update him for the upcoming build. We intend to hopefully do a simultaneous ikemen and MUGEN release.

I'll try to fix it on the next build.
