Halo 4

Nice way to incorporate the novel's extended fiction into the game's realm, answers some questions left unanswered while raising plenty more.  Good, solid start to a new trilogy, but it doesn't measure up to Combat Evolved's story.

So....yea, on Braid, what's so bad about it?  Was overall quite enjoyable to play and listen to, and the story behind the story, how all of Tim's experiences are just a ruse to cover up the true story, was quite amazing to piece together.

If by 'amazing' you mean 'pretentious, unnecessary, and horrible' then yes.

The gameplay itself was... not... bad? There was some puzzles that were just flat-out poorly designed and some that were genius. I hate to say 'it didn't handhold enough', ever, but it didn't handhold enough. It didn't make you aware that you could do certain things, and some of them seemed to change based on the level. A little more indication of what precisely happened mechanically in each world wouldn't have gone amiss. I like puzzles, but I also like being aware of all the tools required to solve them.

Also would it have killed him to design a different enemy for each world, even if the behaviour was the same? The presence of enemies seemed arbitrary much of the time.

I genuinely don't understand why so many people praise Halo 1's story, and I say this as someone who used to enjoy Halo a great deal and thought the first few novels were quite good.

It... wasn't anything special. At all.

Don't see what what so wrong with the atom bomb story, but if you're that against it, then very well, I'll drop the question.

As for Combat Evolved, it had a fantastic world surrounding it, enjoyable characters, the twist of the Flood, and of course its gameplay.  It just had the right combination of things to make it all work perfectly.

While im willing to agree that braids story was pretentious wank, I think the puzzle design was great and the game looks and sounds really good.

Yeah, the story's pretty damn pretentious, no doubt, but it's not like the story is integral to the game; you can skip most of it. The only thing you can't skip that's story related is the last level I guess, but that has you actually playing a level and the twist is so damn cool!

Yeah, the 'surface' story rubbed me the wrong way a little bit, but the last level twist was great. It's when I went 'dafuq was that?' and looked online when my brain began to want to punch things. I didn't really want to be playing as a rapist or whatever that was. I hope you don't fault me for that. ._.

As for the gameplay, I just came off playing better puzzle games, so I was expecting more production value. It wasn't bad, it just could have been better.

Agreed. I've just seen so many people refer to its story as the second coming, and I didn't get much out of it. It was a very well-designed game but not one where the story had any special relevance to me, like it did in, say, the Legacy of Kain series, or many RPGs. I enjoyed it a lot, just not because of that.

Call of Duty: Black Ops II (Campaign)
It was pretty fun, had some sad moments but still very enjoyable.
The "Choose option" system fucked up the whole campaign feel for me imo because i'm not really sure if the ending that I got was the Best/Worst one.

Oh and the after-credits movie was fucking awesome.

Rest in peace, Tamez. Thank you for everything.

I honestly hated the part of controlling troops to defend the base (or rather, those three objectives). I suck at these kind of challenges. Apart from that, it was quite a cool campaign.

Multiplayer though, I'm quite disappointed at what they did. I just can't like how it works. Specially the new Join Room in Multiplayer. Takes waaaaaaay too much to start a new map, and you cannot choose what server you want, it's all automatic. The worst offense is that now there's only 4 types of games (or 8 if you count Extreme and Normal apart): DM, TDM, S&D and CTF. The others that existed in Black Ops 1 are gone. And I really liked them. Why did they remove them?

I hated it at first but then it became more and more challenging, it made things a little bit more interesting.

Same here, I hope it get's updated.

Dishonored

Awesome game. But honestly, I didn't buy any power, and you really didn't need them (except Blink, which is awesome). Also, it's waaay too easy, even in the hardest difficulty (or maybe I'm too good, who knows). Also, it sucks that if an unconscious enemy falls from two meters he dies. Because of that, I didn't get that achievement of not killing anyone. And the ending kinda sucked. Still, it's an awesome game and I highly recommend people to play it.

How was the length? I've heard a few people tell me it was much too short, but I haven't tried it myself yet.

You could blast through in 5 hours or so if you stick to nothing but main assassinations, but with exploration, side missions, finding all runes and other items its time increases a bit. The game also pushes towards replaying it and trying to find the different ways to finish each mission. By the time I finished the game doing all side missions, killing most of EVERYTHING and getting a few items I clocked in about 13 hours.

Yeah, the game is short IMO. And I took the non-lethal route without powers except Blink, so that means I had to hide bodies, and find other routes that possession or time stop would have opened, plus I tried to explore as much as possible in order not to miss anything (which I didn't), so in theory it should have taken me the most amount of time, but I completed it in 8-10 hours, I think.

Once I finish sleeping dogs I may go back and do a full run through with a full powerset and become a God. Should be pretty fun because like you I toke the Blink only route.

I just started that second run myself, and boy does it make a difference when you get some of those powers, like lvl2 Blink or Bend Time. Maybe in the future I should make a run of no powers (including Blink unless absolutely necessary aka games forces me to use it).

You only have to use it like in two spots. Other then that you can play without it.

Dark Souls.

I'll probably come back to it when I want to get 100% achievements on it. But holy crapwaffles, the amount of deaths I have by falling off or slipping off a cliff is same amount of licks it takes to get to the center of a tootie pop.

YOU DIED.

Sleeping Dogs

Really good game. Finished the main story. Now I'm off to find the rest of the health shrines, boxes etc, and play Nightmare in North Point.

Think some of the DLC, besides story based stuff like Nightmare, might be worth it? I've been saving for weeks via Bing for MS points to pick it all up, but I don't know if they'll hurt or help the experience. Either way once I do a bit more of Dragon Universe of DBZ:B3, I'm hopping on that.

Fallout: New Vegas (Dead Money DLC)

The DLC was crazy hard at first because for one, you can't bring your Mojave Wasteland items to the Sierra Madre. Second, if one of your companions die (you'll have three new companions, Dean Domino, Dog/God, and a chick), then you'll die too because all four of you are wearing an explosive slave collar that are linked to each other. And lastly, there's poisonous gas everywhere and because of that, your health will keep on decreasing.

It became easy when you reached the Sierra Madre casino, too bad it became very repetitive.

9/10

Rest in peace, Tamez. Thank you for everything.
