Today's lesson I learned:

- Go to a tabletop gaming shop
- Ask a clerk whether they prefer Dungeons and Dragons 3.0 or 5.0.
- Watch the sparks fly as more people get involved.

The only stats and bonuses you need in 3rd edition is Intelligence and bonus spells per day. Roleplaying still has its importance to 3rd edition as you do have to put up a good act to convince your party that you even need them :3.

I don't think there's a lot of tabletop players here, and I've never played D&D, hence why I was in the store looking for a group signup. I currently GM Call of Cthulhu 7th Edition (yes I know the stigma, but it's easier to introduce non-gamers into) and sometimes I play Fantasycraft with friends (although our GM sucks and it takes months to finish a single one shot), and I'm gonna try out Maid RPG sometime in the coming months ( @Bastard Wolf: do you play this game???).

The story begins with who's gonna win

My D&D group switches between 3.5 and a modified version of 3.5 called E6. Without getting too specific, E6 basically caps your levelling at 6 (hence the name, natch) and then you earn a feat every 5000 XP. I actually prefer it because you have to put a little more thought into your character instead of just grinding along until you hit the epic level skills.

We basically alternate between that and nuWoD (haven't tried 20th anniversary yet, but looking over some of the new Vampire stuff it looks like it's got even more built in forced inter-party angst, no thank you).

My current campaign started out with 5e, but we've since switched over to a custom homebrew system my DM built that's based off of the Star Wars tabletop RPG.

I'm seriously thinking about buying a dozen of china bootleg "lego" army figurines, and make a turn base strategy game out of them, they come with guns, vest, helmet, knife, etc. would be cool to spend credit point to buy more units or fewer units and extra armors,
and then several simple building structures for elevation and cover, and have terrain tiles printed

I was thinking about that, as well, only instead of plastic, I was going to make a foundry and make my figurines metal.

with lego style figurines, we can alter their accessories, place them on a small color coded base to easily tell to which team the unit belongs where its health bar can be stacked with that translucent green cylindrical next to the figurine,maybe another cylindrical thing can symbolize if the unit carry grenade, or affected by statuses like burning, or stunned, etc all can be placed directly on the character base.
