Here is my WIP topic. No need to create tons of WIP topics, it's useless.
For now I'm working on Billy. SFF made by me for an old common project with Scal and Orochi97. Scal did the AIR and basic codings. So I'm re-using this work as a base for Billy, of course updating him to AOFF basics.
For now he only has basic movements and attacks as well as most of his basic combos.

Strong version does fire hit, medium nothing special, and weak is NOT a knock-down unless opponent is on air (which would be obvious).
EDIT : The position of the "explod" is already fixed. I just took the screen before fixing it.

Uche_of_MFG : I used their John as "base" with the permission of Misamu. But Unknown/Ryuhaku has Kof2K dark face. Don't want. As for Fatal Fury characters : If I add one, I have to add a AOF character too (balance).

done : basic combos, intros & winposes, Reppu Ken (strong, med, weak), Double Reppu Ken (strong only), Shippu Ken with "another one" follow-up (strong, med, weak), Raising Storm DM. Saifa <-> Saifa
Rai oh ken <-> jumping forward Rai oh ken (Kof96 style)
Hyaku retsu binta <-> Zanretsu ken (yes, from Ryo and Takuma.... but different... maybe like Marco)
Kyokugen renbu ken/kyaku <-> Chô upper
*Haoh sho ko ken <-> *Haoh rai oh ken (mix of Rai oh ken and Haoh ken)

Yuri has the classic throw and the air throw, ex-Yuri will have both too + the slap throw (will just had 2 more slaps). Her combos will be totally different.

I just thought of something; wouldn't it be a better idea to give Future Yuri her KoF96-and-onward Kho-houken? (Stationary projectile.) This way, regular Yuri would still have the projectile, and the two would be that much different from each other. (Same goes for Ryo's 'Mr.Karate' persona.) Unless, you have a problem with this...

Well, that's fine. But if I may ask, why don't you like the Kof96 projectile system? It seems fine to me; in fact, I think of how certain characters such as Ryo, or Yuri for that matter, play in there as the definite versions now, compared to their original AoF versions. It's more unique at least, that much is for sure.

Well it's just a matter of taste. It's not gameplay related. To me it's like they got their power reduced to a Dan-like fighter so to me it doesn't really fit those characters. Same goes for Takuma 2002 : gameplay wise I like his new moves, but to me it's NOT Takuma. =)

Bumping my own topic. Working on Yuri. Intro, win pose (1 for now) and taunt edits done. I totally forgot what I planed for this characters... Thanks myself I have written everything in this topic. :D

Working on an update of ALL characters. I'm starting with Terry Bogard :
* More damages (+50 in attack in the CNS of each characters - fights were too long)
* Putting the voices in the same channel (when characters get hit by Billy's whirlwind pole (tap A) while in air... it was horrible)
* Adding the X button to all characters for charging power, dodge attack (was initially fwd + A after a guard, like Fatal Fury) and faints
* Power Geizer (DM) is now block-able and has a spark (no pause) like in KOF96. There actually is a super-pause when cancelled into for more combo possibilities.
* Faints have the same spark/pause system as the DM. It doesn't use power meter when done free but they cost 20% of power when cancelled into and can be done only when you have at least 70% of power (to avoid infinite combos) = you can use maximum 2 faints in a combo (or 1 faint and 1 DM)
* Triple Geizer (SDM) 's third hit is guard crush (and knocks-down but doesn't do much damages)
TO DO list :
* Add a Superpause to the SDM
* Add a Supercancel system (special -> DM/SDM only) more like Real Bout Fatal Fury Special Dominated Mind system
* Remove the cost by half of each special attacks to avoid POWER CHARGING FLOOD battles (DBZ!!)
* Change some too old/difficult DM/SDM commands (Tung, King...)
* Change the overhead moves command to fwd+A instead of back+A and giving them some special-moves-like priorities (like air juggle after some launcher)
* Change anti-air uppercut command to df+A instead of db+A and make them 1-hit instead of 2-hits
* Make the basic combo ABC a juggle start
Note that the fixes done on Terry will also be done for the other characters. Same goes for the DO TO list. Some characters also have specific DO TO stuff (Yamazaki 's Snake Arm to be changed... etc...)
ALSO. I will be changing the select big portraits, because some don't fit (if you compare any 1993 Shinkiro drawing with Xiangfei's which is also Shinkiro, but done in 1999... Or my photoshop attempt at Wild Wolf). I will draw them myself, using a real perso as base for the face (adding long hair + moustache to Arnold Schwarzenegger to draw Krauser).

Well, the latest portrait of Robert was a try, but in fact it's longer to work this way... So I have decided to draw portraits myself instead of using Shinkiro artworks (not to mention Terry MOTW never had any Shinkiro artwork, same goes for Ryo as Mr.Karate as far as I know).

Not sure about Joe looking too young. Joe isn't supposed to be that old in Fatal Fury 3.

I'm going to be honest, the lined shading just doesn't fits well in here, and stands out like an eyesore. You might as well just ditch it.

if you are not in a hurry and you want help... I can make an "update" from the portraits you already have made... I did this just now, it took me about like 10-20 minutes at most... I used your artwork and made my version... I have been inspired by KOF and many SF and SNK so I think my style kinda fits in because it's mostly KOFish
I'm not the perfect spriter, I'm not a coder... but something I think I'm good at is drawing...
So, if you want help, I can make the lineart at the same resolution you did and you just paint them

Anyway, all portraits are done. But they ALL need to be Vectorised by BaoJJ. For the next beta I will use the "non-vector" versions. I have to finish Wild Wolf to modify some stuff on his Power Dunk and his Power Charge and I'm done. Probably next week-end (due to over-work in my life job).

Yeah UG will be my next priority right after AOFF... Though right now I'm being slowed down because of an accident on my right hand which is slowing me down on MUGEN... Thanks God I finished Laurent's sprites right before having that accident...
UG will have a little roster change : no more Matrimelee characters but more SNK ones. And the plot will be connected to AOFF. =)

Because I'm a big fan of Krauser, he and Geese are for me the best SNK bosses and I think KOF Krauser's graphics sucks, mainly Kof98um new sprites... So I'm AGAIN adding/editing moves for Krauser... Here is an exemple.

One of these days I gotta commission a decent set of CVS sprites for him. Love what you're doing with Krauser. I became a huge fan of him because of the Fatal Fury 2 animated movie and I don't think any of the sprites from the games do him justice.
