Uh, couple things with that. First, bullets don't really knock you back - if they do, it means they're actually losing penetration power (or they're, like, anti-tank shells or something). It's totally normal to fall forward if you were running just before. Second, if the kid is faking it, of course there's a chance he's not doing it properly.
Of course it turns out it was actually fake, but that analysis is wrong. Good thing the guy who made it came clean about it.
