The Good Ol' Mugen AI Tournament 3
It’s a new year and it’s been a little while since we’ve done this so I’ll catch people up on what you need to know for this mugen ai tournament. For newcomers this is a 4v4 turns mugen AI tournament with Mugen set at 300% life and 200 time. If you have seen the previous two tournaments you'll notice that this mugen AI tournament is a little be more lenient as opposed to others, so i'd reccomend watching some of the previous tournaments to get an idea of what you team will be in for.
Rules and stuff:
Spoiler, click to toggle visibilty
No ridiculously cheap characters (even though I’m pretty lenient upon this, but I’ll inform you if it is too cheap or not)
No Chibi characters (I don’t mind smaller etc. type characters but chibi characters have an obvious advantage against most AIs in which they don’t know how to react to them)
No minigame and/or apocalypse type characters (Same reason as the chibi characters, most AI’s don’t know how to react to them)
Since Zemilia won last time, Zemilia won’t be able to put in another team (because I don’t want the potential of the champion team facing the champion’s other team which would cause a win – win situation)
Send in Two teams please (Mainly if there isn’t enough people participating then people can run two teams instead of one, so tell me with one you’d like to be your primary or secondary team if we have )
Make sure your characters work in mugen 1.0, test them before hand
(optional) since I’m going to use custom portraits for the lifebar I’m using (mugengers lifebar V1) you can send me a link to a picture you’d like to see as the small portrait. (Here's a link (http://www.mediafire.com/file/a88w7ov85n0zlx9/Small_ports.rar) to the small port if you want to make it on your own)
Please tell/provide me what AI patch, setup, etc. for your character, I use what you provide (to reasonable extent of course)
No characters that preform an infinite, stuff like max mode infinites are allowed because they are limited by the bar

so how cheap is cheap? Is Death ogre considered cheap? I fixed his AI for 1.0 so I'd love to see that at work. if not, I have other ideas I think.
Funny thing we already have just regular ogre in this, so I'm assuming death ogre would be fine though I'm not sure if there's much differences between the two.

Beterhanses ryu and ken are for mugen 1.1 and we're using mugen 1.0 (and I can't simply just comment some of the mugen 1.1 coding because it is used by the ai unless you know of a phrase that can replace "screenhight"). Also for some reason I can't download his ken from his sendspace page

I've added some teams that where not included in the previous tournament due to the limit being achieved before then, (Doc2211's team and Mister Fael Chan's team sans Yukina, if Fael chan doesn't respond for a replacement I'll have to give fael one) except coldskins because of his ungodly edits of stig87's DBZ characters.

I'll replace her right away, (even though I already made a small port for Ingrid but it's no biggie) and damn that inferno geese is broken is all hell making even the anchor (Psyqhical by Zelgadis) of the champions team look like nothing. Maybe you can provide me with a less cheap geese (even though this is tournament does feature some heavy hitters, there's still a point where I think a character is too much)

looks good. The team is P.A.D.S not P.I.A.S. and i'm swapping secondary and primary. But it all looks pretty solid. :)
Will do, I've also listed in yellow on the google doc what needs to be replaced, what isn't given, and what is wrong currently with the character. I have also listed the champion team (the team that the finalist will face) on it as well for those curious.

We currently have 10 people in the tournament we need either 6 more people to run people with two teams or 22 more people to run people with single teams. (I'm thinking more of the former myself)
Some people still need to provide me with a second team (@yaminogun , @kingofgames1996 , and @Trololo) and replacements for characters (@kingofgames1996 , and @Trololo) so we can get the tournament started sooner

Not sure, mainly in the past two tournaments it's been mostly people that browse this forum (I think for the first tournament I had a video about it) which I should probably do one. The only other thing I've done for this is messaged people on yt with not much luck, I guess having a announcement on the top of the front page of mfg (the massage on the top) would help though I don't know who puts them up there.

Only two characters in your first team are fine (asuna, and selvaria) they just have long ass combos but they do drop the combo, Kuroyukihime and Miyuki on the otherhand
That would increase the length of the tournament. Don't know if that is good or bad however.
6 in one, Half a dozen in the other the only real thing that would take longer is people signing up hence why people get two teams so we can run 16 people instead of 32
Are we able to change the order of a character team after putting them in? if that's the case, i will request to change the order of the Captain team, order could be:
Captain Atlantis Captain Falcon Captain Rolf Captain America
I can see why you put Captain America last though I did reduce his attack to 50 because his basics were chewing the shit out of the opponents health (I don't usually nerf characters in this but sometimes I have to do it)

First of all, simultaneous mode is a broken ass mode to begin with for plenty of reasons that If you even watched a match for a minute or two you can tell what's wrong and the only redeeming factor is that you can turn it into tag
Second of all, best out of 5 if all matches were 2:1 that would be 15 matches a single set and 10 matches a single set if they are all 2:0 which I don't think anyone would like to see two characters bash for that long.
Maybe I might reduce the health boost but I've only really seen you complain about the health and time so majority rules on this one and the kenshiro that yamiogun has is a KoF version of him not the one I had.

I'm sort of on the fence about people having the same character as well, I guess there isn't anything wrong with people having the same character as long as we can tell them apart. Good news however, we are one person away from starting this tournament :grin2:

Yea that's fine if you wanna have your own mugen AI tournament, I'm not dictating anything here. Sorry if I'm taking awhile with starting this tournament but my IRL friend is quite busy currently. I might record some of the AI matches just with the screen recorder (probably with the characters that are less intensive for mugen and the recorder) but with this, do expect visible periods of lag. (Mainly with mugen)

Do the winners bracket till round 4 then do the losers bracket till round 7
or
Do each bracket by rounds

Is there any reason why you are using a PVR rather than a software screen recorder like OBS?
I've tried OBS and I can't really get a stable 60fps out of it (I might adjust some settings to see if I can achieve that but most of the time it gives the "High CPU encoding" warning when I try to record with it) I know that the PVR (hauppauge PVR 2) can achieve 60fps at 1280 x 720, but most of the software that is compatible for it I tried kicks up the resolution to 1920 x 1080 even when I set the laptops resolution to 1280 x 720. If you're wondering I'm using the HDMI port from the laptop to the PVR.
EDIT: I think I've found the sweet spot for OBS albeit the quality might not be as good but a solid 60fps anyways, though I'd still like to know if anyone knows how to get 1280 x 720 with a PC with the hauppauge PVR 2 then I can have some high quality footage for the tournament

Uploaded round 2 winners hope people don't mind the quality of the recording not being super great compared to last time. I've also switched to mugen 1.1 mainly for better frame rate but I have noticed it does mess with some fx with some characters :(

Sorry if my uploads have been sparse but it's mainly due to me being lazy :dozey:, rendering of a video taking 5 hours, and the upload to youtube taking 2 hours (which is actually not to bad actually). Yea it does suck, though the good thing with the editor I'm using (VSDC Video editor) is I can set it to hibernate my laptop afterwards once it's done rendering.

Just an update, I'm going to be on vacation for two weeks so I won't be able to upload videos though I'll be able to render them. I'll be uploading Round 1 match 7 winners today, hope that people don't mind if the uploads are sparse compared to previous tournaments

Beterhanses ryu and ken are for mugen 1.1 and we're using mugen 1.0 (and I can't simply just comment some of the mugen 1.1 coding because it is used by the ai unless you know of a phrase that can replace "screenhight"). Also for some reason I can't download his ken from his sendspace page
I have a zip ball in the download page named "archived_1.0_characters.7z" it have all 1.0 version of my works.

It's legitimately unfair.
Considering other characters in this tournament and characters in previous tournaments, alex is pretty damn tame considering. I know he does parry quite a bit and he has combos that he never had but we've had characters much worse than alex before in these tournaments, and date was doing pretty well up against him... date just got stuffed by alex's super. I don't feel he deserves a ban.
Besides I've got the whole tournament uploaded by this point, whatever is going to happen in the tournament is going to happen.

Or just change the AI, you could drop that AI and use Felicity´s AI patch for Alex, he is more well rounded, he still parries tho, but less than the one in the videos and doesn´t have chain cambos.

Taken a look at that vegeta and he seems alright for next tournament.
Yet again another update, just curious how people are enjoying the tournament so far. I have noticed that my schedules might be off for the release dates of the videos so it might be as even as it was before.
I might also see if a vga to hdmi converter for next tournament would work how I want it to because with my friends pvr because I do know that thing records 720p at 60 fps (and I can just crop everything else in post) and I would rather spend 5-10$ rather than 180$ if I don't need to.

good news, I have gotten myself a new computer which records 60fps flawlessly with obs studio so expect it for next tournament. Also I can hardware accelerate the video rendering so I can render videos much faster (which it also renders that blur effect that took a long time on my previous computer in no time at all)

Mainly just curious how people think of the recording setup from my latest video because I'll be using it for the next tournament. I am using OBS to record it and it's results have been good for me so far. The only thing that might need adjustment is audio but I am not sure.
