He told me to post it here when I was done uploading it so I did. BTW I edited it a bit so it is compatible with Firefox and Opera. I hope he doesn't mind. This tutorial tells you basically how to make light FX. Well here you go.

Watch out, there is a major mistake, the tutorial says:
Quote
set the layer to "screen"
I made some experimenting, and screen is not the right blending, that part should be changed with
Quote
set the layer to "linear dodge"
this should be correct.

Similarly the subtraction trasparency are achieved by applying "linear burn" to the INVERSE (ctrl+i to inver the colors of a layer) of the sprite.

Images work fine here using Opera.

And thinks much for the tutorial.  This'll come in handy for the projects I'm working on.

actually, i think he meant the layer you are drawing on...

IE: make a black layer. then make a layer for the fx, and set THAT layer to screen
^that works....

as for the tut itself: pretty nifty, i guess

no, it doesn't, the add transparency is not an equivalent of the screen blend, it's an equivalent of the linear dodge blend, try it and compare.
