I do like to point out one problem though: if you do a majinga close to the opponent, at the end the sound stops playing for a second or two

Den use her KOF Sprites then. do a sprite overlay and use those sprites. Don't worry about the neogeo look of it all I can whip up some pals if need be.
why cvs-ish sprites always is needed to code a character in pots style. Normal sprites is not bad to make a pots style character.
