Mod Edit:
Now hosted at RS
http://randomselect.piiym.net/
Download Mugen -> Windows Mugen Plus
http://www.This link no longer works, sorry/jp/?d=5XRGYZLN
#Feature
1.What we call "Black Continue Screen" has been solved.
2.You can use both d0stages and d4stages if you modify .def files just a little.
3.select-screen is also d4.
Caution!Selectscreen,Lifebar and fonts used in selectscreen and lifebar must be hi-res.
#How to install.
1.Download [Hi-Res WinMugen(Select Screen EXE Only)] at Randomselect.
2.Put this patch into the directory of the mugen you've downloaded.
3.Launch this patch.
#How to use hi-res stages
1.Open your ".def" of Hi-res stages and add a line as follows
[StageInfo]
zoffset = 220
autoturn = 1
resetBG = 1
HIres = 1 ;add this line
Im not the author of this patch.
I just introduce this patch so that mugen will continue to develop for good. :) :) :)
-
i was just going to ask if that damn continue screen thing has been fixed yet and bam....
you should change the title to "UNIVERSAL MUGEN PATCH"....
I'm guna try this tomorrow.
-
I've never tried a screen pack with high res mugen because of the black screen continue. Do you have to do anything special with non high res packs, like unknown motif? What about lifebars, fonts, and all that stuff?
-
Fonts in HR elements get scaled down by half, but the lifebars should be fine. Select screens will most likely need tweaking, nothing major usually though
Going to try this myself. If it works as stated, I'll replace the HR hacks at RS with the patched one
-
Selectscreen,Lifebar and fonts used in selectscreen and lifebar must be hi-res.
the best way to get used to hi-res mugen is try and error! ;D
-
It works! :D Uploading now, expect a huge update to my HR stages along these lines.
Btw Duke, do you know the name of the person that authored this patch?
-
It actually does work. Now there's really no excuse not to try hi-res stages. This will work with both low and hi-res. I'll need to update my prior stages.
My ol' Saikyo screenpack works just fine so far.
I just wish there was a utility to automatically patch hi-res stages, since I have over 50 hi-res stages.
-
okay im puzzled here. can some1 tell what this really is? a patch for hi-res mugen or for low-res mugen too? and what does it do? ???
-
I dont know the author
He just left this patch without saying his name///
-
Shall we call this... Hi-Res Mugen hack by The_Mysterious_Stranger ?

Anonymous!

Too cliche.

Shall we call this... Hi-Res Mugen hack by The_Mysterious_Stranger ?
Sounds Good to Me.
-
Its pretty sad to say but This is the highlight of my day....lol
Tested it and it works GREAT.
All we need now is a HIres Title Screen.
-
Just to absolutely get this up-front: You can play BOTH hi-res and low-res stages with this?
-
Si Senor(Yes)
Just read the recomendations on the first post.
-
This patch is EPIC...
-

You should host an already patched mugen executable. Based on the last line of the readme, just call it Good Patch or Good Mugen.
-
Added to RS to save folks some time...in fact, updated the code related does while I was at it! :O
With this Mugen Plus seems a good name for it :P

Now we just need a "Hires = 1" option for the screenpack and it'll be complete.

minor screw up. Hi-Res (Stages Only) MUGEN and MUGEN PLUS links are reversed.
-
This is one of the last things I was expecting to see, looks like 2008 IS going to be a good year.
-
Not really. This doesn't really change anything besides fixing the Black Continue screen bug and being able to use lo-res stages w/ hi-res ones.
-
anyway it's going from better to better
-
Caution!
The line must be added if stage is hi-res.
You dont have to do anything anything to Low-res stages' def.
:-X :-X :-X :-X :-X

Fixed. Sorry about that, it was terribly late when I fixed up the menu :-X

after download the mugen plus, i still need to download the patch?
hi-res stage's not working here
-
Did you add the necessary line to the stage defs?
-
Did you add the necessary line to the stage defs?
i see now, thanks...i forgot this part
-
Wow. This is really cool.
I was never really bothered by the black continue screen because I always choose the same character when I lose.
However, I hadn't really tried out the hi-res stages because I have so many low-res ones I enjoy. Now I can mix them up.
Patch was easy. Thanks for this!
-
how does this thing work?? i don't see hi-res select? the patch is windows 96 i have xp

randomselect has a version of mugen up now called "plus" with the patch already applied.

Too cliche.
John/Jane Doe? ???

Found one minor bug. It seems that double-tapping a direction to run/dash is disabled around the first 30 ticks after the round starts.
-
This is probably the best christmas present ever thanks for the release. :sugoi:
-

Not having that problem here at all
-
This is great!
I still noticed that this hack, as well as the others; still dont have the ability to use the F key triggers. As well as controlling player 1 in watch mode. I don't need F1 since I don't keep cheap broken characters, but Ctrl + 1 would be nice :P
-
...the patch is windows 96...
That doesn't even exists. ::)
@Teros: Open up your mugen.cfg and look for this line
AllowDebugKeys = 0
Change the value from 0 to 1 to allow debug keys at all times. Otherwise debug keys will be allowed only in debug mode (you can switch to debug mode by pressing Ctrl-D).
-
now i have to find out how to make lo-res select screens hi-res

Okay found the problem. Turns out it only happens on the KOF XI bars o_O

I heard that because I like the Unknown Motive screen pack and i don't wanna change it. oh and by the way I just tried the patch or update or what ever you want to call this and It's Pretty cool. Now i can Play Hi res Guilty Gear stages and keep my crappy yet cool Mortal Kombat stages on mugen without having to change em. :)

I use the Unknown Motif screenpack too, but don't want to lose it :'( unless theres a similar one thats compatible.
-
I think part of it involves re-sizing the sprites in the System.sff. That's definitely not it though.
-
Uhmm, how do you get the 242-character select screen to work here?
-

ew....

THANK YOU!!!
Man... This is a Christmas present!
Now I can delete my two Mugen programs, and only leave one!
This should be a Mugen Tool, because this is so useful!
Truly, an achievement in this day in age!
Best yet, it has a DEBUG screen, so that I can fix my characters (that I'm building myself).
AWESOME!!!
:o
I sound like a fanboy...
-
any updates for the old linux user?
-
This should be stickied as well as putting debug reminder in original post.
-
wow that took awhile ... i had reinstalled all my hi res stages and add the hires = 1 line into this but it's all worth it freaking awesome..!
-
*sigh*
Makes me wish there was a Hi-res Stage Viewer. I'll give this a go tomorrow. I need sleep.
-
Yeah, took me one hour to merge both Mugens and reassign stages to the characters, but it was worth it.
Thanks to the coder for this great update hack. :)
-
Is this also compatible to other screenpack?
-
I just wish I didn't have to fix up the select screen. In any case... at least I can save myself a lot of work by simply switching my old winmugen.exe with this new one.
-
Yeah, because it's incredibly hard to figure out what to do to fix up the select screen :P
...actually no offense to anyone meant, but really if you just take a little time and read a few things, it'll take you no time at all with any screenpack. At most you'll need notepad and anything that can open and double the size of PCX files.
-

how durr i youse notpad?
But, seriously, I'm just lazy. Also, I switch screenpacks often. But, most of all, I'm lazy, and I really have no excuse. So I'll just wait until I get a screenpack that I'd have to change.
-
what hi-res mugen is compatible with this?
-
what hi-res mugen is compatible with this?
Apparently KFM packaged this as "mugen plus" on rs
-
hmm...i'm thinking if i should keep my old mugen as a back up or something like that, deleting it just doesnt feel right
-
the screenpack, lifebars and fonts used must be hi-res rght? so what screenpack you know should i use? please tell me. thanks! :) i use eve screnpack and i like it because it holds a lot of characters and i'm sort of a collector except cheap ass broken ones.
-
Wow... is the hack for which I've waited time ago... is just perfect, compatibility with low res stages and hi res ones at the same time! fixed game over screen bug... and select screen on hi res!!!!!... I love Chiristmas :D
Thanks to the creator of this hack (whoever he is), Kung Fu Man for hosting, and any other I forgot.
See ya!!!! :D
-
...i was just about to request this to be a sticky...
-
awesome ;D
-
thx man dis da best :o :o :o ;D ;D :) :) :D ;D ;D ;D :D :) :sugoi:

So are all Mugen Character's compatible? And can we use the EVE screenpack on this?
-
So are all Mugen Character's compatible? And can we use the EVE screenpack on this?
Yeah All characters work Fine, but I'm not sure about the EVE Screenpack because I never used it. If it's Hi res then is will work fine, but if it's Lo res than it's not gonna work. Win mugen plus only uses Hi res Screen packs
-
Not gonna use this, it means I'll have to resize the 1060 pictures in my system.sff.
No thanks.
-
just use irfanview to do a batch conversion
-
is this pathch for th hires mugen?or for the low res one?
-
For those of you with a lot of high-res stages and wanting something to make things a bit easier, try this tool I got sent to me yesterday:

thnx kfm, this has been the best week in Mugen in a long time!
-
Probably a noob question, but how can I differenciate which stages are high-res and which are not? Preferably just by looking into the DEF file.
Also a suggestion for Kung Fu Man, having the Hi-Res Mugen Plus and Hi-Res Winmugen (Stages Only) is a bit confusing in your site, if only the first one is needed, you should eliminate the second one. I just downloaded both of them, installed firt the Mugen Plus and then overwrote the files with the Stages Only, as if it were a patch. The results were:
- Sometimes a dialog box appears saying that the application has failed because NSCRT.dll was not found.
- On most stages this was the view:
(http://img508.imageshack.us/img508/8065/mugen0ts0.th.jpg) (http://img508.imageshack.us/my.php?image=mugen0ts0.jpg)
- On the stages that came with Hi-res Mugen there was no problem. I assume because they are Hi-Res.
After replacing the Winmugen.exe file with the one that came in Mugen Plus, everything seems Ok.
-
So are all Mugen Character's compatible? And can we use the EVE screenpack on this?
Yeah All characters work Fine, but I'm not sure about the EVE Screenpack because I never used it. If it's Hi res then is will work fine, but if it's Lo res than it's not gonna work. Win mugen plus only uses Hi res Screen packs
Thanks, But do you know what is the best Hi Res Screenpack? Cause the EVE Screenpack is Basically the only one i ever used? Any Suggestions?
-
the Heaven or Hell HI-res patch is pretty good
-
the Heaven or Hell HI-res patch is pretty good
Ok i'll find it and try it out, thanks.
-
is there a hi-res screenpack that is the same or better than eve in terms of character slots?
-
the Heaven or Hell HI-res patch is pretty good
forgot how many slots but i know its more than 2000
and also: http://mugenguild.com/forumx/index.php?topic=63384.msg607646#msg607646

IMO, I wouldn't say this one is better, but you can try this one because it has a lot of slots to it.

-
Awesome, now all we need is:
- Hi-res menu
- Being able to use high-res/low-res ANYTHING on one Mugen.
-
i was just going to ask if that damn continue screen thing has been fixed yet and bam....
you should change the title to "UNIVERSAL MUGEN PATCH"....
I'm guna try this tomorrow.
It doesn't have an option for a low-res select. Not universal.
-
i still cant think of any screenpack that can replace eve. i have a lot of characters so mugen super wars can't hold that much character for me so i think il be using my old mugen for now.
-
Well this is orgasmic. The only problem is now I have to make screenpacks. Thx Kung Fu for hosting and who ever you are.
-

I used to use EVE but now i'm using the Unknown Mofit cause its so much easier to use. Can it be used for Mugen Plus?

Just want some suggestions to make it better. :blank:
-
I'm talking about the current Low-res version that I have. I got about 70 stages and over 100 charaters on it and I don't want to do a lot of file editing if I move to the hi-res version.
-
only the hires stages need editing not the low res stages, plus there is a program that does that stuff for you
-
It's a good thing I didn't have Hi-Res stages before this. So far, with this new mugen, I have a grand total of ONE Hi-Res stage.
Admittedly, there were like a few others (and I do mean a few) I wanted, but don't know the location of where they're uploaded..
-
Thank you, Duke, for posting this patch. This will indeed help mugen develop. BTW, the size of character windows and cursors and stuff can be edited in lo-res screenpacks. While it might not be truly hi-res, it can be made to imitate it pretty well. Thanks again.

Hey, I'm still new to the ropes so I need some help.
I'm having a bit of a problem with the patch. I got both the Mugen plus and the patch (I cant find the hires select screen EXE Only thing <_<; ) Anyways I put the mugen plus files into my normal mugen folder to replace the old files then I put the patcher in and ran it. I got an error message and saw that the winmugen app was a different name than what it was asking for so I changed it to mugen-hiselect and tried again and got this
(http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u228/dizor/weirderror.jpg)
I have a feeling that simply changing the app name isnt going to do anything, but I dont know how you guys got it to work :( I had also gotten it before were I could use the unknown screen pack normally and with hi res stages but all the low res stages got messed up as if I was using normal hi res mugen.
-

Changing the application name does work. ;)
-
anyone seem to have troubles adding music to the select screen...
i did it the same way i do it for everything
sound/SFZ2/201-player_select.mp3
but nothing... just silence.... ARRGGGH!!!

I can't recall any specific HR stage from this forum... one I wanted was the one people kept asking for a while back: the youtube video had Vyn's Evil Ryu and some sort of Guy edit.

Hmm.
1) Really, really, really make sure the path is specified correctly and that the file actually exists.
2) Try using a decent mp3 dll. I use in_mp3pro.dll. I don't like (the more or less default) in_mad.dll. It makes mp3's too quiet.
3) You may need to rename the mp3 file itself to something "simpler".
-
yeah i forgot to put in different plugin's i had set up for my old mugen the one kfm provided sucks on my comp....
-
yowser, definitely time to upgrade.
I was using eve, have about 1000 characters and was perfectly happy with it (except for the generous loading times). I was also using about half a dozen lo-res motifs, X-Men:Children of the Atom, Marvel Super Heroes etc.
Now I'll be using the winmugen plus with a decent amount of slots for my main game.
I'll still keep a folder with all my lo-res screenpacks though, at least until they themselves get upgraded to hi-res. So far I think just Capcom vs SNK 2 has been done.
Just have to work out the new directory paths so they'll be interchangable. --;
-
I only got about 10 characters so I had no trouble at all :sugoi:
I did not like the selection screen though so I resized and moved the elements to look like the old mugen. Very pleased with this new exe. Thanks to the creators :)
-
Is anyone planning to do a HR mugen hack for x-mugen for xbox?
-
I doubt it since IIRC x-mugen was based off LinMugen.
-
It's possible to do really, but the executable setup is a different ballpark: you'd have to figure out where everything is and try to piece it together from there.
-
So I just switched my old winmugen .exe with this new one, and aside from my lores stages looking f!@3!ed up everything is looking cool. ;D
-
I believe if you look on RandomSelect, there is a tool to making adding the HIRES=1 or HIRES=0 much easier.
-

You probably dled the wrong exe I'm guessing.

ok so... in this winmugen plus.. i havent downloaded it yet being that i am currently at work..
when im playing in a hi-res stage... will the hi-res characters who normally get scaled down, jump up to hi-res and look as good as the stage? or will they stay low-res...
and what of the low-res chars... when they are played in hi-res.. do they look crappy? or exactly the same...

low-res chars look like they do in regular mugen @ DR4

ok good.. ive just never seen a picture of a hi-res character, like say, chipp.. vs someone like a low-res ryu
so basically this mugen plus is the best thing thats happened in a while

i.e. Hi-res characters look much better, lo-res character look like resized chibi characters(bad) Pixelation varies among the lo-res.
lo-res vs. hi-res characters looks really odd. However hi-res vs hi-res is incredible.
Hi-res character in Hi-res stage only creates a much CLEARER visual, no rescaling that I can notice.
Lo-res stages do take a hit though, however it nearly isn't as bad the lo-res character degrade.
ANYWAY put your dblres to 4 as mentioned before for a "preview".
-
Again, you downloaded the wrong file.
Low res stages look exactly the same in winmugen plus.
-
Ah I see :sugoi:. The categories the Eve screenpack provided is irreplaceable though, is there way to get in contact with DJ VAN ( not in the read me) or another screenpack with categories.
-
Hi res plus FTW! I love it im making a new mugen game with this :).
-
;D yeah!!!
Mugen High Resolution Select Screen hack by japanese guy and Kung Fu Man (Ash McGowen)
and another Japanese guy! :o
Awesome Work
hi res stages & lo res stages works all fine!
just a little question, ;P
OK, if you are doing the hack, Can you delete the text and blue label on bottom of the select mode??, you now, thats seems a little bad.
[img resized=1 width=318 height=238 alt=" border="0]http://i153.photobucket.com/albums/s208/Jeknel/winmugenplus.jpg[/img]
I have a winmugen.exe with no text but still have the blue and red labels (bottom and top)
[img resized=1 width=318 height=238 alt=" border="0]http://i153.photobucket.com/albums/s208/Jeknel/winmugen.jpg[/img]
but, of course hi res is better... 8)
[img resized=1 width=135 height=199 alt=" border="0]http://i153.photobucket.com/albums/s208/Jeknel/ryu1.gif[/img][img resized=1 width=132 height=188 alt=" border="0]http://i153.photobucket.com/albums/s208/Jeknel/ryu-1.gif[/img]
Now we need re-doing all of our mugen chars in hi-res to make a perfect world ;P
we are in troubles jejejejeje, lol.

but it looks like DoubleRes = 2 or bilinear filtering with good color resolution (ryu)

but it looks like DoubleRes = 2 or bilinear filtering with good color resolution (ryu)
Are you talking about the high-res Ryu sprite ?
If bilinear filtering gave this result, I'd be very glad... but it doesn't.
"good color resolution" ? Because there's a resolution for colors now ?
-
Love the winmugen Plus. (thanks)

I wish it would support Doubleres = 2 :(
-
Dunno 'bout bilinear, but everything low-res scale2x'ed or edgedetect'ed to hi-res along with original hi-res would be really nice i think :)

Resized chibis? Lo vs. Hi-res looking odd? What lo-res characters are *you* using? And where do you get your drugs from?
Yes, Hi-res characters do look cleaner than lo-res, but those are some extreme cases you put out there.

the filltering from old mugen is good but the color is not good because it looks blur.
-
is there any way of making a patch for WinMugen Plus so we can have a hi-res title screen & vs screen?
cause they seem out of place next to the select screen.
-
No one has figured out how to hack those parts yet. You're more than welcome to try, though.
-

Hi-res title screen would be great.
(if possible).

Just out of plain curiosity, but is there a hypothetical possibility for such an option of hi or low res to be applied to the select screen as well?
The reason why I ask this is simply because i have a lot of decent characters that fight well against each other (well at least as good as its going to get for the moment hehe) and I can't seem to find a hires screenpack which can cater that (just to let ya guys know i got around 300 but not sure yet i'm always adding and removing). Unless someone can give me the name of one (no need for a location if you don't want to waste more of your time i can find it) would it be possible to add code to allow an option like let's say mugen.cfg will contain a command "Hiresselect = 1" so that the engine will know that it will render and display the select screen as if it were hires and vice versa for low res select screens?
The mere fact that the core mugen engine can handle both kinds of screens means that if one were to create a boolean trigger such as the one for the levels, then another problem for people migrating to Mugen Plus would be solved, and people do not need to sacrifice lack of room for characters for a hi res experience.
Just wanted to place my 2 cents in there, and i can understand the code very well if someone shows me how. I wouldnt mind having fun coding the engine up a bit tho dont have any hopes with me if i even get the necessary tools for it. ill likely just disappear randomly lol. But anyway, I would just like to see a complete Mugen someday like everyone else with even better features.
-
Finished a select screen but not quite ready for a release. Would be nice to have the ability to use low res screenpacks though, I mean technically the whole screen pack isn't hi res if the title, vs and menu screens aren't. I feel like if everyone rushes to update their sp there will be a new version soon that does the title, vs and menu screens in hi res making the old hi res screenpacks obsolete until they're updated.
Again so until that happens I guess it'd be best to wait or if they had a toggle switch for different parts of the screenpack to be in hi and low res. Like I find it funny that this was suppose to solve the issue of having hi and low res stages on one mugen but now you have to have a hi res screenpack as well rather than an option to choose. I only say that because people made the argument that its not feasible to upscale all the stages to fit with hi res back when the first hack came out- so I guess it wouldn't be feasible for all the creators to upscale their screenpack for this new hack?
-
Makes complete sense...i know what you mean by not being able to choose...
Until i can get all the stages together while keeping my screenpack i`m yet not switching to Plus... --;
-
Maybe Its just me but is anyone else having an issue with character limit??? When I add only a few chars its all good then I enter my full squad and the game always freezes. I get the black screen starting but it never fully loads then soon after I get the error message for winmugen.
Help is always appreciated...
-
Define "full squad". As in, how many characters?
-
Well I'm getting close to 300 characters and the game works fine (although it does have a tendency to crash from time to time, if you've ever seen some of my screenshots XP ) A hiccup I found is that the order= x code doesnt work for reordering your characters because the characters I have set as bosses (order= 3 ) still appear at random points in arcade or dont show up at the final fight :\ (Although this may be the screen pack, I have no real idea ^^; )
-
It's because you're doing something wrong...
-
It's because you touch yourself at etc...
Fixed that for ya.

Hello ALL ADMIN"S This TRICK WORKS SO FAR!!!! The first thing i did was download WinM Plus, then i copy a coding form a other screenpack. So First i want to thank all the people that made the none HI-res, Then I paste this into
This will turn the Selct Screen into a 1000+ character select screen, It my first time missing with the Select screen.

If you do this correct, this was my second time doing it but if you can do it without getting the black screen it right. I've tried it up to 30 character's and it work's
-
What are you trying to do? I don't understand. Winmugen Plus fixes several bugs from d4 hi-res mugen without needing any additional modifications. The only way to further change anything is by hacking the binary.

I was trying to do 580 Slot Select screen but it keep messing up....
-
That's not really relevant to this topic. You can do that even in the old Mugen.
-

Hmm maybe so but so far i dont think i have seen A hi-Res Mugen that is over 1000+. At first i was trying to 580 like Capcom Jam, and EVE Vs Everything ,but when i put in the coding for the System and Select.def it didnt work. Thats why i am happy that got something to work on it...
-
Well, by the time you get to that many characters, 90% of them aren't even worth playing.
It's not magic or difficult to create that many character slots. Just increase the number of rows, columns, and shrink the cell size.
That's just "reading the f'n manual".

Take that BACK!!!!! The more character's you have the better the game is!!!!! I love having characters!!!! It like Pokemon but with blood, guts, nudity and death!!!
Ps. I don't read manual i just go by the guts and do like the ancient Mugen did it. I guess and figure it out.

OBJECTION
The "ancient mugen gurus" read the docs because there weren't Youtube videos or tutorials that people made for those who were too lazy to read the docs.
-
I reject your Objection...
The first Mugen Game i played WinMugenX it was on Torrent that's where i learn mugen. I study his work, and files but that it... I dont like watching youtube for Info bad mac's and the breathing on the mac's piece. I hate that SHit, so Please dont say i watch Youtube Tutorials when i cannot stand it....

I got a question, How do I make mp3s work?
Everytime I put a mp3 on one of my stages, I get this bad sound, that only sounds good when you press buttons.
Is it because I'm trying to use lo-res stages? If I use a high-res stage and add a mp3,will it work better?
-
Take that BACK!!!!! The more character's you have the better the game is!!!!!
HA HA HA HA HAA AHA HAHHA HAHAHAH AAHAHAHAHAHHA HADLFJKAS;DJFA;JAKjackdanielsSD;FJAKSDF;AS ; HAHAAAAAAA....
*whew*... that was hilarious. Seriously, I couldn't even go pass 200 for a roster without including people I don't particularly care for. And my current roster is under 100. I've yet to see any large rosters where more than half of the characters are those that I wouldn't put into my Mugen for a variety of reasons.
Even if I had a laptop that had more memory and power or killed SyN for his quad-core computer, my roster wouldn't be that much bigger.
Is it because I'm trying to use lo-res stages? If I use a high-res stage and add a mp3,will it work better?
It won't make any difference, so no.
-
Didnt the old hi res mugen have the risk of messing up your hard drive or something in lines of that? Does this version have the same risk? Thats the only thing that been keeping me from upgrading.
-
don't worry about that part, it's pure crap, I used it for months (in fact since it was released) and the only problem I had was like 2 days ago when the zilb file from mugen deleted itself while I was playing O_0, but that can be fixed by pasting that file again ;P
-
so i can play with normal chars?
-
Yes You can Play with Any Character and Play With Any Stage
-
...ok...OK...so there NO reason NOT to get this
-
Unless you don't like Hi-res-only select screen.
-
by what ive seen, the screenpacks with the hi-res are better and take up less memory than others
-
Shouldn't they take MORE memory? Anyhow, hi-res really looks better.
But there are some drawbacks also which are not fixed yet:
1. Normal (=low-res) chars look pixelated because
2. you can't use doubleres = 1,2 oder 3, you have to use 4
If this doesn't bother you, get it.
-
I'm not really gonna get hi-res mugen because my computer is three years old and its not decent to take mugen videos in 640x480 in 30fps with this old thing.
-

Larger pictures doesn't mean lower memory.
1. Normal (=low-res) chars look pixelated because
2. you can't use doubleres = 1,2 oder 3, you have to use 4
Isn't Doubleres - 4 the least pixelated?

Resize the screen? In any case, you're lucky. My laptop is newer, and I need to record in half that screen size when I record videos of nearly any game.
Also, I'd like to comment on how it's funny that there were Hi-Res characters before Hi-Res Mugen, and yet there's still massive confusion as to whether or not hi-or normal res characters can work on either version. I guess because people called it Hi-Res Mugen, most times, and the name doesn't clarify that the characters would work fine.
-
no... im comparing unknown to modern
-
no... im comparing unknown to modern
But they're different screenpacks. You can't really make that comparison if you're comparing the size of one screenpack with another.
-
...actually, i believe i said the scrrenpacks take up less space, so yeah, i can
-
I think I get what you're saying, although it's still not really fair to say the high res screenpacks take up less space if you aren't comparing a lo and hi res version of the same screenpack. Different screenpacks take up different amounts of room.
-
well i see where you are going, but i dont that being hi res makes them take up less room, i mean that a screenpack of near quality takes up a fraction of the space
-
Hey, I'm still new to the ropes so I need some help.
I'm also having the same problems as you are. Plus, I'm a newb, too.
-
I can't find "Hi-Res WinMugen(Select Screen EXE Only)" :(
-
Just download the already-patched archive called WinMugen Plus.
-

Sorry, I did it the day I posted my problem and got everything fixed. I was just afraid to post again since that would be double posting and I've known that to be bad. :sugoi:
-
You could have just edited your post by saying "problem fixed" ;)
-
can anyone tell me why does this winmugen plus always has an error every time i try to continue my previous cnallenge?it says error loading stage... why?
-
Try posting in M.U.G.E.N Configuration Help section, I'm sure people will help you with your issue.
-
This one fixed the crashing problems I had in my WinMugen. :o
Wooooo! A stable MUGEN version which supports hi-res. :D
The only thing is now that I need a proper mp3 plugin. :(
-
Question about the Actualizador_Stages tool. How exactly does it detect HiRes stages? Because I think it needs some work because it converted a lot of my low res stages to hi res and failed to convert several hi res stages for some reason.
-
Last I checked there is no stage conversion necessary. All stages should work as-is.
-
yeah, it detects normal res stages by default, and hi-res stages simply need an extra line of code.
-
Well it added the line "hires = 1" to a bunch of low res stages and changed "hires = 1" to "hires = 0" on a bunch of hires ones.
-
This may seem like an odd request, but is there any way at all to make the character select screen lo-res?
-
No. We don't even know who made this hack.
I would give more info but this is not a hacking website.
I'm sure you can find out more info if you use the google.
-
Read before you reply. He never asked who made the hack, he wanted tyo know if there's a way to have a low-res select screen with this hack. The anwers is no, you'll have to edit then select screen to "hi-res" (double size of each select screen related image and also double the respective values in teh system.def. Or simply get a hi-res screenpack).
-
I did read.
He asking a question that only the guy who made the hack can answer.
You just said no there is not but there maybe if you can hack the engine.
Like I said this is not a hacking site but it can be done.
Is it easy? Fuck no.
-
This may seem like an odd request, but is there any way at all to make the character select screen lo-res?
http://randomselect.piiym.net/hosted/misc/hires-winmugen-stages.zip
Here you go dude.
I'm gonna get some flame for direct linking, but please visit the main page ;D
Edit: I just realized that this version doesn't support the hires= parameter, and just locks all the stages in high-res.
Edit2: This was made from the Winmugen_Hires hack which preceded winmugen plus, it's not unreasonable for the same thing to be done with the plus hack.
-
Doesn't that version only support hi-res stages, though? I have alot of lo-res stages I don't wanna give up.
If that's the case, how does one go about increasing the size of the select screen, exactly?
-
You'll have to extract the .pcx files from the .sff (umm... use Fighter Factory or some program like that). Then you'll just have rezise the images in Photoshop or a similar program... I'm not in the mood for details right now.
@shamrock: It's all about hacking with you.
-
Stuff
Yeah, I realized my error only after I posted :S
-
@shamrock: It's all about hacking with you.
Wasn't the question about how to get low-res screenpacks to work in mugen plus. What you are talking about is making a low-res screenpack into a hi-res screenpack. Or as I like to call it making low-res look like ass.
I am all about hacking the engine. I want someone to do it. Not me though, because I already looked into it and found out it was way to much freaking work.
-
That's great man.
-
Really? Thanks. You're cool too.
-
thanks for the link. All Google ever gives me is urls for "pay-to-download" sites...I ain't paying to DL something from a site I'm only visiting once.
-
at first my old hi-res stages didnt work but all the new lo-res ones did, but i realized i didnt have hires=1 in the .def file.
-
Be nice if some one would make the Main menu Screen HI-Res & the Versus as well, I would give it a shot but don't know were to start???
-
would be nice if this hack/update someday gets added into linux mugen (yeah for those who use linux, or xmugen)
Y_Y
-
Hi guys just snide up ;D,
got a question about mugen plus.
some of the older chars dont look as good any more i can fix this by changing the scale to 0.5 for the chars but then their attacks
are off a little. is their a way round this problem.
Thanks.
ps i love mugen ;)
-
Awsome job this is pretty nifty!
Now I can use all my stages in one sitting XD
Just one problem, No music plays on my stages when I use PLUS ? I don't understand, it works on the normal Mugen and the extensions are exactly the same sound/Example.midi . :S
-
Did you set your mugen.cfg correctly to read midi files (assuming you're reading midis, as in your example) ? I can assure you it works just as well (or bad) as Winmugen concerning music.
-

So sorry, i got it working thanks, but the mp3's wont work, I basically copied the same parts from my other version of mugen, but mp3 stil fail to play.
-
Ok this is messed up. What if I wanted only HiRes stages and Low Res stages to work on winmugen plus without having hires select?
I downloaded only the HiRes stage one but Low Res stages looks messed up. And I DO NOT want HiRes Select! So what do I have to do?
-
There are two options:
*Grin and bear it
*Modify your screenpack to double the size of all graphics shown for the select screen
-
No wait, what he says is true
I'm sad I no longer have a backup of the older HIRES=1 hack, and you don't give the option to choose, you just replaced the files, generating numerous new compatibility issues.
Can I has plz? I needs. I like low res.
-
Um, Walt, what the heck are you talking about? There was only *one* hack that added support for that parameter. The other did all high res stages only.
Basically to pull off what you want would require another delve into it to make another hack. And to be honest I really don't have any desire to at this time.
-
They are talking about the first Hires Winmugen hack. the one that only allowed hires stages and had no hires select screen.
-
Yeah I figured that, but that one only allowed high res stages. It couldn't use low res ones. That's one's still online.
-
i tried mugen plus but unfortunatly some hi-res stages don t fit the screen, so is there way to solve this.
-
I think the few HiRes stages you are having an issue with were made before this WinMugen+ hack. If this is the case just edit the stage's .def file. Under the [StageInfo] section add hires = 1 and the stage should work correctly then.
Example:
[StageInfo]
zoffset = 225
autoturn = 1
resetBG = 1
hires = 1
-
Hi to everyone
i have 2 questions:
1= is this "Winmugen Plus" the same of "win-mugen_no-limit_2007-10-13_tweaked_hi-res.zip" downloadable from the mugen wiki under the "download" section?
2= the first post isn't so clear: we have to download the "only hi-res stage" version from RS, and them apply the patch? It better to write a short how to (if it is needed, because if the version on the wiki is more updated, keep this).
thanks
-
Just get it from randomselect.
-
yeah, but on randomselect there are 2 versions (ok 1 not hi res, the other one stage hi-res), but on mugen-wiki there are more versions.
i'm trying to find the most-updated-mugen version but i have to choose between:
1: win-mugen_no-limit_2007-10-13_tweaked_hi-res.zip
2: winmugen plus hi-res from RS
3: winmugen plus hi-res-stage from RS
4: winmugen HD
-
...There's only one version at randomselect. Just get that one.
-
I seem to be having the same problem as Hajime. Some stages only show the bottom half of the stage, put it is placed at the top half of the screen. So the bottom half of my screen is just a black void that shows the trails of all the character movements. I have tried entering in the 'hires = 1' in the def file but it still does it. I have a few stages that I have not entered into my Mugen yet, but there are 5 or 6 that I know for sure are doing this. One of them is Yusuke's Suzaku at twilight stage.

I don't really see anything that stands out as to why it would not be working properly. But then again I'm kind of a newbie at this.
-
Ok, after playing around with it for a while I've found out a couple of things. The stage in question will work fine on the good old winmugen, but when switching to hi-res is when I run into the problem. Like I said, I'm a newbie at this, but that would lead me to believe that the stage is actually not hi-res. Sooo I removed the hires = 1 and now it works fine :p so I guess the place that I downloaded it from was mistaken, it is not hi-res.

[StageInfo]
zoffset = 220
autoturn = 1
resetBG = 1
HIres = 1
I think this is the problem. I don't think it can have capital letters in the coding.
-
Mugen doesn't care for Capital letters or not.
-
Got it, thanks for the tip. I put the code back in with lowercase but it had the same result. Like I said, it's all good as long as the stage works.
-
I think the problem is BINARY CODE:
1 - Enable 0 - Disable
HIres=1 means "yes, the stage is hires, process it with native resolution" where as the correct would be
HIres=0 meaning "no, not hires, please scale it"
-
Mugen doesn't care for Capital letters or not.
Yeah but who is to say the hacker calls the method that ignores the case? It's trivial to find out, but you can't make conventional assumptions about a hack's additions.
I think the problem is BINARY CODE:
1 - Enable 0 - Disable
IIRR, any non-zero number is true in Mugen.
-
This version of MUGEN is very nice. I like it, but I have one problem... I am trying to transfer all of my stuff from regular MUGEN to winMUGEN Plus, and it's saying some crap about there not being enough space in it? wtf... I never had that problem with regular MUGEN. >_<
edit: Nevermind... my laptop was apparently full. >_> I guess it can't make more disk space like my regular computer can.
another edit: Dammit... now the music won't play on the stages... >_<

How do I install this patch? Should I only copy it to the same directory where my mugen.exe is located?
-
It's not a patch, it's a totally new MUGEN. You have to transfer everything over to the new one.
-
I have a question.
1. So will WinMugen plus allow you to play low res characters and high res characters, as well as both low red stages and high res stages? Basically, will I be able to transfer all my old low res characters and stages to WinMugen plus with the addition of being able to play with high res characters and stages? (i.e. I want my old stuff to be playable.)
2. Will WinMugen Plus allow me to use high res screenpacks?
-
Yes to all.
If you come across hi-res stages that look zoomed in and weird in-game, you'll have to add the hires=1 line underneath the [StageInfo] part in your stage's .def file.
EDIT: Crap, Drex beat me to it. X_x

Or you could just replace the .exe file.
-
I tried replacing the mugen.exe file with this one but whenever I double-click this patch an error message is displayed. It says "D:\mugen\hiselect-mugen.exe". What's the problem with it?
-
Well, by the time you get to that many characters, 90% of them aren't even worth playing.
It's not magic or difficult to create that many character slots. Just increase the number of rows, columns, and shrink the cell size.
That's just "reading the f'n manual".
I suggest people use the "big" folder for the " best screenpack".
Or you could download characters and stages and blahblahblah until your space fills.
Then...dump some of your files.
Do it all over again.

You just replied to a
2 (I can't read either) 3 year old post.
What the hell man.

It's 2010 again? :woeh:

It sort of seems like...necroposting?
