I'm designing graphics for a screen pack and i get jagged edges

I'm not sure why because the transparent background is white so white lines should not display!  I even try the background eraser tool to do png transparent  but still displays with jagged edges.

I'm using photoshop elements 8
mugen1.0
Xara grapich editor(really old)

Thanks!!!

These white pixels are a different color than your background, hence why they are still visible. Probably a side effect of saving the image as a JPEG or using filters to smooth the font

You need to redo the graphics with a good graphic editor and ensure there's no smoothness, blurring, anti-aliasing, feathering or whatever you did previously.

Photoshop elements 8 should be good enough!!  I was thinking the resolution settings or other setting I'm missing, How can I find out what color is the jagged edges maybe I can Make the whole background that color and it will become my default  transparent color.

Thanks for response!

you're doing it wrong again, man. The jagged lines are using different tones of white, so even if you use the same white from another spot, there will be traces of other whites. And don't ever think about using magic wands or any other color selection tools.

What you have to do is redo the file from scratch. Use a layer for your background color and another layer for your text. Ensure there are no smooth filters or antialiasing "features" on the text, and then merge both layers. Save as PCX 8 bits, indexed color.

I Managed to import the image without the white stuff I had to save at normal quality(no antialiasing) or smooth filters but now the image have even more jaggies!!!

I think the problem might be mugen image quality or it might be just me, Please let me know what I can do about this

Thanks
