Info: Apollo is a tech genius who used to freelance but now works exclusively in Maddicorp's Tech and Weapons department. He is a hero at heart, and has been deceived by Maddicorp into believing that Maddicorp is a heroic, malevolent corporate entity that is actually trying to capture the SHADES in order to protect the people and the subjects themselves. His knowledge is vast, which is the reason for such a complicated deception on the company's part, since he is a great asset.

Gameplay Info:

-SHADEs-style gameplay (chain combos, launcher, air chain combos, Level specific supers, Desperation Move, etc.)
-Normal has 5 specials, one a helper robot with 3 distinct uses
-EX Has 6 specials and less reliance on helpers and projectiles
-Both have 3 supers and a DM
-AI by Kamekaze is fun but not insanely hard
-Original voice acting
-Ion helpers for Apollo are destroyable

Bit of an error in his profile:

The proper word would be "Benevolent"

Also, the Apollo's Chariot super is epic :D

-The chip damage is just one of the decisions I made for SHADEs characters. I know most Capcom and SNK characters don't have this, but SHADEs characters do. It was just a gameplay choice I made.
-I've seen plenty of characters where crouch attacks can be blocked high, except for sweeps. It's also a necessity given the dial-a-combo nature of the combos that SHADEs characters have. It would be really hard to block a chain combo since they can chain a standing LP to a crouching MK, which would mean the opponent would have to have lightning fast reflexes to switch from a standing guard to a low guard fast enough to block both attacks. It would be too easy to be cheap. I forgot to make his sweep only guardable low, though, so I will fix this.

The character is so serious, but it's so over the top and geeky too.. seriously?  10/10 for the voice actor!

Both the normal and EX versions are a lot of fun to play with... so far,  Byrne has been my favourite of the SHADEs 2 characters, but I'm sure I'll really enjoy Sabotage all over again. :)  Really looking forward to more from you. :)

I disagree with that. Unless you can chain into a 1 frame overhead, then a chain combo can be crouch blocked for the entirety.

- The big portrait is misaligned by one pixel Y wise.
- Photon Assault in Ex version gives back a lot of power.

His DM feels much better with the speed now, and the envshakes add a lot to him. Great. :)
The EX version has some cool differences. The change in the specials make him a whole different char in terms of gameplay.

I like this character so much, it's not even funny. Although they need a super finish background(in my eyes, at least), it's not like I can't do it myself. Most of the feedback above is what I have to say(as for the super finish background, I used HNK's).

But are there truly grown men in this world?!

-Well, disagreement on mechanics or not, I still hold that I've seen plenty of characters that can standing guard against crouching attacks (save for sweeps). In fact, I just loaded up Warusaki3's CVSRyu, and the only one of his crouching standards that you have to guard low is his sweep. If I made it so that all crouching attacks had to be blocked low, with the way the combos work for SHADEs and SHADEs characters, the only safe way to block would be to constantly block low.
-Yes, benevolent is the word I meant to use. I said that I was typing too fast and used the word malevolent when I meant benevolent. Thanks!

Yes I did, you were saying that you could just block a chain combo low the entire time. I'm talking about if the opponent begins by guarding high, then mid combo, the attacker could just switch to a crouching attack and the opponent most likely would not be able to switch to a crouching guard in time. That was the point I was making, and I thought you were saying that they could just crouch guard the entire time, which would guard against everything but overheads (unless a character had an overhead to chain into that is too fast to guard against in time).

Switching from high to low attacks and your opponent being unable to see it during a magic series is not cheap at all, adding a fail safe to an already fair reaction mechanic is being too forgiving to someone who can't block properly... also about Warusaki's Ryu, I'm pretty sure every shoto in every game they were in had low hitting crouching kicks across the board.

Also about overheads, overheads in games where magic series combos are used are: a) Not comboable; b)  if they are comboable they are used to end a combo.

I guess we just disagree on the mechanics. I don't think it's too forgiving, I think it's a fair measure to take for balance's sake, and I don't see anyone complaining about the mechanics of Waru's characters. Every gameplay decision I make is deliberate, since I'm not aiming for anyone else's style. The ability to block crouching attacks low (except for sweeps) is a decision I made that I feel is fair (along with the chip damage on standards), and going by Waru's highly regarded characters on the low/high guard issue, my decision has precedent.

Also, my characters don't have comboable overheads. You were the one who brought up chaining overheads.

What are you talking about? Argh, I don't see what point you're trying to make. If anything, what you just posted supported what I said in the quote. You posted:

Also about overheads, overheads in games where magic series combos are used are: a) Not comboable; b)  if they are comboable they are used to end a combo.

This seemed like instructions for me on how overheads are supposed to work in combos. I know how they're supposed to work, so I responded by saying that my characters don't have comboable overheads, and that you were the one that brought them up.

Um, you didn't seem to acknowledge that Waru's Ryu has low hitting crouch kicks of all three strengths/speeds, invalidating your claim that you are "upholding Waru's standards".

Um, you didn't seem to acknowledge that Waru's Ryu has low hitting crouch kicks of all three strengths/speeds, invalidating your claim that you are "upholding Waru's standards".

What the hell are you talking about? Warusaki3's Ryu's crouching kicks can be guarded high, except the sweep (unless this is a feature he took out in a newer update that I don't have), and I never claimed to be "upholding his standards." I simply said that my decision to not make all crouching attacks only guardable low had precedent. If you notice, I said that every gameplay decision I make is deliberate, and that I'm not trying to mimick anyone else's style, not even Warusaki3's. I did check, and Ken's you must block low, but Ryu's can be blocked high.  I only used his character as an example that I have seen other characters who have low attacks that can be blocked high. I suggest we chalk this up to a simple disagreement on mechanics, and benimarucollider, you should read more carefully before you take that tone with people.

Edit: I just downloaded the most up to date of Waru's Ryu, and all of his crouch kicks have to be guarded low. So you guys were right about that, but I'm telling you, the one I had before did not have this feature. I'm not going to rush to update it, but we can at least put it to rest.

It means what I said, I'm not going to rush to update it. I know now that it's standard for crouching kicks to only be guardable low, but I don't know if that's how things will work in SHADEs, and if I do decide to change it, I'm not going to rush to do it.

-The chip damage is just one of the decisions I made for SHADEs characters. I know most Capcom and SNK characters don't have this, but SHADEs characters do. It was just a gameplay choice I made.

Makes sense to me.

Old school Capcom use to have fall damage after throws and such. It works because if you get tossed half way across the screen and land on your head,  it should hurt. Sorry kids :P

I'm not sure that's an Apollo issue, unless you've seen something similar happen when he fights other characters. It just looks like he recovered a fraction of a second before he was KO'd, which caused it to glitch out. Hmmm, I'll look into it though.
