Title: Avengers: United Battle Force

This game started as a study case from Doom, who worked with me on Bullseye, so he could learn how to code for OpenBOR. It turned into a full game, but I don't know if it will be release publically, its up to Doom to decide.

The idea is to make an Avengers (though some non-avengers chars will appear) based on the old Arcade game, which we loved so much, but won't be a perfect copy.

The title is a working title, and can be changed later.

Features (not everything is avaliable yet):
- 2 players (although 3 players could be done)
- Specials and air specials
- Hyper moves (consumes all the powerbar)
- Vehicles
- Traps, plataforms, holes and other beat em up things
- NPC chars
- Unlockable chars
- Alternate routes
- While I am a rookie on OpenBOR coding, I promisse to be a cool game to play :)

What could be done:
-Weapons system, if I manage to code it well.
-Aerial Rave, like on versus games

- General improves on the stage - Doors were resized, the stage is wider and have some new edits. Plus, this is the new sub boss: Forklift. When you beat him, a normal Soldier will jump to fight you (but if he wasn't able to fight with you with a Forklift, what he can do by himself anyway, lol)

Looking good so far. Count me interested in giving this a try once it's done. :)  Can't wait to see which villains make an appearance, too! (Any clues? :D )

One of the things that irks me about a lot of BOR mods/games is the pacing of the stages; namely, a lot have sections that last way too long for their own good, making it more tedious than beat-em-ups already are by nature.  I got bored by a few mods because of that, and I'm sure I wasn't the only one to feel that way.  I definitely think that finding the right balance can be something to take into consideration. :)

Me too. Some mods (and even official games) are a bit tedious over the time. I am trying to make the experience a bit better, with branches, traps, enviroment effects/attacks, and to make the chars different from each other. I give new moves based on the colors of the chars, so its not the same char over and over.

And holy fucking shit!!

This project looks amazing!! It reminds me of the title "Captain America and the Avengers" that came out in the 90's. The presentation is slick and stylish, and I like your attention to detail sprite wise. I sincerely cannot wait to get my hands on this. Very, VERY cool. :lugoi:

With some info about the chars. The only bad thing is that now the game is stuck with 2 players option, so the 3 player version won't be possible.

Started to work on hyer moves. To make things more unique, some hypers will do one hit with big damage (can kill normal enemies on a single hit), others will have less damage, but will cover the whole screen.

i would suggest recoloring the background because i easily recognized it as the first stage in megaman x

Following the suggestion, I've recolored the background (and now the clouds are on another layer too).

I solved the MP cost question: we will use Dr. Strange on the stage, explaining that through a spell, they don't spend their power on the moves, since we will use those mode as a Weapon, so we won't need any script :)

Wow! I came across this project and registered on the site just so I could comment on it. Captain America and the Avengers was one of my all time favorite arcade games! I used to play it every time I went to the Movie Theater.
The video looks like a perfect replication of that style and all the new characters and moves look great! I can't wait to try this one out, any demo available for download?

Well, since my beta tester is on vacation, I used a NPC just to show more chars in action :)

Here is a fight showing Beast and Quicksilver (NPC) agains Whirlwind. As you can see, Whirlwind is not so easy as he was on the arcade game.


The chars are still in progress (so this is why there is no sound in Whirlwind's attacks), so somethings can be changed.

hello my friends.
really want to say that I think a great project what they are doing. Personally I always wanted to make a game of this style and with these graphics. The work I've seen Thor and War Machine is excellent. Also with Ironman and Hawkeye, did good work. The special moves and gameplay right fit with the characters.

There are two types of movements used in the game "Ultimate Marvel aliance" they are very good: the pitfalls (such as a tornado to Thor) and radials (that surround the character). I think must incorporate them so each character has its own gameplay more.

Jhfer is being working on the game history (and on many edits). The second stage will have the Maggia (http://marvel.wikia.com/Maggia_(Earth-616)) crime syndicate, on a ship. This is why you fight on a Port on the first stage. You will fight Wizard on a branch, or Whirwind on another.

Some users always asked for 3 or 4 players on this project. We don't have enough space on the HUD to put 4 players (and I don't want to remake it either), but for 3 players...maybe I can do (I already made some tests).

But, the main problem is: If I do allow 3 players, the bios screen should be gone (lacks of space), with just the char and his stats.

Look that everyone do prefer the 2 players option :)

Anyway, I am working on Emma Frost (she is a guest char)
I was looking at ther and she seams to be missing some moves, so I changed some moves.

Her Astral Projection works like a projectile. She does the pose and her projection appears and dashes, hitting the enemy. The summon and end animations use scale, and I edited some negative versions of the frames, so every frame has negative effect and is very smooth. This is the Psychic Mirage (I am mixing your and Eclipse's Emma voices)

The second one uses the same startup animation, but is a tad different: while on the other the astral projection appears right from the start, on this move she "focus" a bit before to execute the move - Psychic Bolt.

This moves acts like Sub-Zero's ice blast: it freezes the enemy for 3 seconds, but does few damage. I've edited the position, so maybe Ens23 will review it.
side note to Elecbyte - On OpenBOR, if you use a move with FREEZE ability on a char and hit it again with the same move, it won't be a (unless you fix it) infinite loop, like in mugen. Frozen chars get knocked out if you attack him again with the same move (or any other). Its time to borrow somethings from BOR, Elecbyte.

The move just hits enemies until a certain distance, its not a whole screen blast.

She will have a unique Diamond form too.

For the upcoming beta (I will try to release it in a week or two), those will be playable:

1- Captain America
2- Hawkeye
3- Iron Man
4- War Machine
5- Hulk
6- Thor
7- Beast
8- Quicksilver
9- Vision
10 - Emma Frost (guest)


from that list, Vision, Beast, Hulk and Emma lacks some moves yet.

There will be one stage (with two parts), one sub-boss (Hydra Golem) and one Boss (Whirwind).

The final version will have something about 13 stages, with more than one part each one. About the roster, I don't have no idea yet :) But you can imagine something about 20 playable chars or more.

Video preview of Emma Frost, which is a guest char in Avengers United Battle force.

She has a normal mode (where she can use her psychic powers) and Diamond Form mode, where she can't use her normal powers, but gets many benefits: more power, more defense, new moves and a super armor. Her mental powers doesn't works on non-human enemies. She still hit then, but she can't stun robotic enemies.

Plus, preview of Madame Masque (codes by Beastie) and a little part of Spiderman's stage.

2- I've been remaking the HUD of the game, to make it les BOR-ish. This is the final result:

Maybe I will use the trick of icons so the bars would be behind the the hud. When I made it, I will change the icons to shared palette.

3- On the image above, you can see Hawkeye palettes in action. The left on is his "Heroes Reborn" outfit, the other is a classic one.

Each char now have 4 palettes, and each one comes from an actual outfit of the char.

Finally, Beast got his hyper move: He calls Reinforcement from his labs.
The robot fight for itself, attacking the enemies and obstacles. You can call another one once your powerbar is full again.

Plus, you can see the new HUD in action :)

Yes, some other chars will have grab and grab attacks, but not fancy Throws (or not throws at all) like Black Panther and Iron Fist. And there will be people with scripted slams, like Hulk, Beast, Hercules, etc. Hercules, for example, will be like King on Tekken

Finally I managed to code something I wanted since I decided to do Tiger Shark:

When you fight him, he (and only him) can go into and out from the water whenever he wants to. Each time he dives into the water, he appears in a different location, and jumps to attack you. And how much he stays underwater...is random too, so no pattern to guess.

You can't hit him while on the water (neither when he is jumping into the water, you can hit him just once he is jumping out from the water), and he can call reinforcement which will jump from the water too. By the way, he can call those reinforcements even when he is fighting you on the pier.

I need to add some water effects on the pier and I need to find a better water splash, but I liked the result.

I've been very busy, but here are some infos about what I've made to the game. Some points aren't finished yet:

Game Manual

This is consuming too much of my free time, but will worth the trouble. Its a page showing each char bios, power grids, all the commands and gives some tips about each char.

Uniqueness

-Each character have different values for attack, defense, speed, mp, mp consumption, mp recover and status change.
-Some chars have double jump, some have fly mode, some will run while some will only dash,etc

Passive Skills

Some chars will have passive skills, designed to give even more uniqueness.

Examples:

Asgardian - Can't be burned or poisoned (still receive damage from the attacks)
Super Armor - He won't enter into the pain state if the attack isn't strong enough.
Natural Leadership - Recovers powers quickly.

I am studying the idea of to change some attacks based on the palette the char is using. Nothing too fancy, maybe just one different attack.

Vision will abuse of his density change ability:

okay, I managed to find some time to record a new video, showing some stuff from:

-Vision: Almost done, with his density control system
-Hawkeye: Arrow system
-Beast: some new grabs and aerial super
-Hulk: No invencible armor anymore (still super armor), new special
-War Machine: fly mode, Gatling gun.
-Iron Man: Fly mode

All the characters have random combo finishes (Vision uses a short blast, War Machine uses gatling gun etc), to avoid the game turn into a repetitive thing.


(I love how OpenBOR handles the water. And those hooks will have a major role on this stage later)
And youtube killed the fucking quality again...

I am aware of that the bios got covered by the char name. I will modify the image, since it seams that you can't put anything over the char name (this is a suggestion to the OpenBOR coders)

Anyway...I am back, guys. Finally. Lets jump straight to the news:

- The Game Manual is done, for the beta. Now a friend of mine is checking the english.

- Quicksilver now has a new aerial attack - Meteor Kick is a dive kick which makes him rebound once he hits something. Once rebound, he can execute the move again and again, to make aerial combos. Costs power, for sure.

I am almost done with all the balances on the game (there was many mistakes).

While I am not an spriter, I am editing some different moves for Red Hulk, to make him not "just a hulk but in red".

Last night, I had the idea to add Human Torch. But not the usual Human Torch (or I would need to add all the Fantastic Four), but the ORIGINAL Human Torch, the bad ass android - Jim Hammond (http://marvel.wikia.com/Human_Torch_(Android)_(Earth-616))

He is really bad ass, its a friend/rival to Namor (both have fought many times) and its a potential killer. If he can kill his oponent...he WILL do it. He had killed Hitler, for example.

Passive - She will make the enemies misses their attacks against her sometimes.

This is the grabup attack (scripted slam). After that move connects, Captain will jump an grab the enemy on the air.

I've been working on the core of the scripted slams, and I think made a way to have smarter and easier scripted slams by taking some concepts from Mugen. I will publish this method once I finish it.

Emma Frost now have astral projections in almost all her basic attacks and Black Cat is done, with her Avenger Power.
The new stage feature a reflection on the ground (which bugs the engine if you don't set it off at the end, you can see reflection at select screen when Black Cat is selected)

Hey guys, here is a small preview of Namor and some new stuff from the game.
Namor can do a great damage, has some scripted slams and will have more moves soon.
His dash move has an automatic followup, but the finisher is optional as cost more mp.

The jumping slam is a special move which needs to be done while grabbing and costs mp too. All the others are normal throws.

I've edited A LOT of frames, I hope you guys like the result.

We need some help here: We want to do an exclusive stage, like a infiltration on a secret place, where you need to use Ant-Man or Wasp. But I would like to have a third option. There is any other char which can make himself smaller and enter that area?

If you have antman around he can make other people smaller like him.

Some progress...

1) Emma Frost now has the ability to mind control the enemies (thanks BB for the code)

Once hit by Pyschic Bolt (D U +A), the enemy will be fighting against the other enemies.
To avoid cheapness, there are several things which can affect this case:

- It doesn't works on non-organic enemies
- If Emma change to her Diammond Form or she dies, the control is over.
- Each time the mind controlled enemy rises from the ground, there is a good chance of the control to be break.


The good thing is that I managed to not need to duplicate enemies projectiles, I can use the same projectile for enemies and mind controlled enemies (they act as NPC) with script.

Plus, like in some comics, some mind controlled enemies acts better than normal enemies. Gunners, for example, shoots way faster while on this mode. She still has her "freeze" bolt, which was moved to D D +A. But It doesn't works on non-organic enemies either.

2) Started to work on branches

Like I said some pages ago, this screen happens after you defeat Hydra Golem. The upward branch goes to The Port area, while the branch at right leads you to another screen.  This will act as different routes, since each one has different bosses and enemies.

ok, here are some news:

- Finally, the mirror stage is working as I wanted to. The solution for avoiding conflict with Shadow Trail effect was to use the base of the HUD as "bgicon" and, since we have little lines over the HP & MP bars to act as sections, I draw those lines by script, checking if the player exists and drawning it on the fly. I hope this is not memory intensive. And the Flamethrower enemy is done (I am aware of the BLAM effect)

Viper can release herself from grab moves if you are not quick enough, and her dagger poison you.

About the game, I am getting close of the next release. But I got an awesome idea which will give me some work, so I will push the release date a bit further. But it worths the trouble :)

- Finally I finished the boring part of the project: I checked every enemy in the game, to see if all the animations were correct, attacks, colors, etc.

- I revised values ​​of life, attack, defense to multiple enemies.

I had just a little time to work on this, so I worked a bt on Tigra's throws. Her forward throw its a vault over the enemy, where she grabs the enemy's head to throw him. Works kinda like Skate vault throw in Streets of Rage:

Finally I've found some free time to work on this project. Here are the updates:

1) I changed all players life value, because I always think they die too easily. So people like Emma Frost, Black Cat, Quicksilver won't die easily (their life value had doubled). And people with max life value (Hulk, Thor, etc) will last even longer.

2) Hawkeye had some revamp, to be a shooter he needs to be
            A- His arrows now cost less power (50%)
            B- His normal arrow almost cost no power, but it does less damage.
            C- He can shoot arrows on the air (I will still decide which propriety it will have)
            D- He even can shoot arrows while rising from the ground (riseattack), with no cost
            E- Now he has another combo finisher, a fast bow spin attack (works kinda like Green Arrow's attack in Injustice), finishing with a manual arrow
            F- He can use his arrows manually, to work like a knife in some attacks

3) Jhfer had finished to edit Spider-Woman.

And I am thinking about something which is bothering since long time: to give make all chars be able to run. The only 2 characters which doesn't runs, Hawkeye and Thor, doesn't makes much sense. Hawkeye is very agile and Thor can fly.

So, probabily, I will let both characters run.

RISE FROM YOUR GRAVE.

The new demo is about to be released. The game had grown a lot, with more playable characters, helpers and new stages

Father (War Machine) & son (Iron Man) gameplay of the brand new Hydra remote base stage.
The video feature a special cameo, try to find it :)

Showing on this stage:
- Custom intro
- Boss door (it will open only when you clean the stage)
- Enemies jumping from behind the wall
- Trapster Boss

I hope you guys like it, this gaves me a LOT of trouble to make :)

This stage comes before the Trapster stage. On this video we can see some cool things:

- Zoom
- Custom cursors at the menu (now complete)
- Custom intro again
- Music change
- Sin & Cos (look at helicopter)

Now we have another stage (image above). This stage is accessible right after the 3rd stage at Maggia's ship, where you will be able to choose which path to follow.  One door leads to that dark corridor, other leads to the new area (wip).

I am fine tunning Spider-Woman and I honestly loved the result! Both modes feels different and the web mode (which I doesn't liked before) now offers a great gameplay value. She gave me a nightmare to code, but I am proud of what I did :)

He will have strikes for sure (mostly punches,  also drop kicks, headbutt, shoulder charge, etc) but he will have a lot of grabs - I've made a sketch with all the moves (I do this for all characters, on my sketchbook).

 It's the char with more grapple moves on the game. From the normal grab position, he can access 4 throw moves  (and each one can have a follow-up), 2 grab attacks plus one special throw.  11 moves in total.

He will have ence more throws, but I won't spoil the surprise  :)

Yeah, maybe I have some plans for this.

I've been very busy in my work and I've barely had time to work on this project. But he is still active - slow but active.

I've been working a little on the items in the game:
- Now the enemies no longer catch the Avengers Card
- The Blue Pill leaves the player invincible for 20 seconds, instead of filling the MP bar.

Little updates:

- Jhfer finished Andromeda NPC. Although she is Attuma's daughter (http://marvel.wikia.com/wiki/Andromeda_Attumasen_(Earth-616)), she will fight at our side.

This was needed so we can have more palettes for her. I always wants to make all the palettes as different from each other as I can.

- I still looking a way to solve some recent bugs, and this (plus some other recente bugs on the engine per se) prevents me to have too much progress. But this game development continues, as usual.

I want to release the new version in 1 or 2 months, so can focus on some other projects I have. I have a lot of ideas under my sleeves, but I don't want to start them unless I finish other things first.

- Now you have two real different paths to choose. Each path leads to different bosses.
- One extra Chapter for each path (Greece and Sentinels)
- 4 new playable characters (Hercules, Iron Fist and 2 others)
- New bosses - Attuma, Ares, Enchantress and others
- New helpers and NPC, like Yellow Jacket and Wiccan.

From left to right:
Classic, Pirates (Swashbuckler), X-Men Evolution, X-Force, Kim the Nightcrawler, X-Men Legends, Azazel.

He has 7 palettes, so one of them will have to be removed. Swashbuckler will be an extra mode for him.

About the Azazel palette...dunno if it will just a color, an extra mode or maybe a boss.

As I am now on vacation (from 1 of my 3 jobs at least, lol), I have more time to play with this, so it's time for some news:

New Frames > Since now I can rip all the frames from the original game, I've added new frames  to some enemies,
like Soldier's screen jump (plus other animations)

FAINT > I am working to give every playable character a faint animation, which happens when you have low HP. I think it's add a little touch to the game :)

Wrestling fans, rejoice!

Here is the preview of Hercules for the project Avengers United Battle Force. Hercules is the classic slow and powerful character - He is kinda slow but does huge damage.

He is almost a grapple only character, since he has just 2 non-grab moves - his runattack and an aerial attack.

Hercules has an exclusive grab system. After grabbing, all directions leads to different moves - and you have a follow-up for almost every move.

His main freespecial is and grab move, which leads to more and more grapple moves.

I got a free time to do something I always wanted - enhance this project bonus stage.

News:
- Glasses, when broken, create shards with different animations.
- Each shrapnel has a different speed and jumps on the floor differently
- The longer life glasses now have a damage animation and rotate to different sides depending on which side they were hit.

Colossus > Jhfer had finished cutting all Colossus sprites and all the palettes. Once I finish Sabra, I will start coding him.

Emma Frost > This is what Is taking my time. I've decided to change somethings on her, to match more her Comics counterpart while giving some touches for each mode.

Normal mode - now has grab moves (since Emma can actually fight with bare hands), and the grab moves will be different per mode - here is her backward throw

And here comes the most loved comrade X-Men from Mother Russia: Piotr "Peter" Nikolaievitch Rasputin, the Colossus!

It will be your favorite tank: The steel giant has very high attack and defense (less than Hulk and Red Hulk however), can not be stopped by weak attacks, sharp attacks and metal projectiles do only 10% damage.

He will be present at the next update (still undated) and will be unlocked during the Sentinel phase.

Still in the video, we have the new look of the stage of Madam Masque and one of the new helpers in action: Wiccan.

One of the things I've been working for this project - Super Throws.


To make thinigs easier for some users - and to bypass an error I was facing - those super throws are executed with a single button (SPECIAL) press while grabbing an enemy. They does the same damage of a normal special move but costs power as such.

All charactes which can grab will be able to execute those moves. This is the first part and some of them could be changed in the final product.

Quick video to show a concept I've been working on: a virtual scenario. At first, transitions were made with new images, which greatly increased the weight of the scenery (and the game).

But now it's using OpenBOR's amazing raster effects, so all transitions are done via code :)
Probably the order of the phases will be random in the final product.

I took the opportunity to show Hercules' new chain throw - which is executed with a command after the previous throw.

Showing Nightcrawler's new "Swashbuckler" mode.


What changes in this mode?
- Combo finishers are now made with the sword (and sharp attacks deal more damage to certain enemies)

- Different back throw deals more damage

- Two new specials
• D, F + A Dash Slash (can be chained with D, F + A again for a second slash or with D, U + A for an aerial attack or even a third slash)
• D,U+A Teleport Slash

- Specials spend more MP than the normal mode

- New hyper - En Store. Faster than normal hyper but with shorter range

And we can also see the new helper - Moondragon.

The last version had 18 playable characters in total. The next version will have something close to 30.
Not all names I can revail right now, but some new names are Iron Fist, Hercules, Nightcrawler, Colossus, Sabra and others

Part 3 of our co-op online play with Davpreec, now in the Boss Rush mode  with one of the people's favorite characters: Deadpool, which received some updates, like now he can make combos better.

Maybe I will add a throw for him,  I don't know.

New stage & bosses - Ahab & Mega Sentinel.


Due to the high volume of work in real life and some health problems, I had to slow down the work on this game. But I finally got the time to make a video.

This is one of the new phases of the sentinel chapter which, despite being short, is full of challenges and has high difficulty, depending on who is playing.

Some things are still unfinished (animations are missing in the scene, you need to regulate the difficulty of the smaller sentinels, etc.) but I like the result.

Ahab & Mega Sentinel function as 2 bosses on the level and both need to be defeated to finish it. Mega Sentinel has different attacks depending on how much health it has and shows damage to the face if it has little health.

I hope you like the result, because I liked it a lot :)

@walt Thanks buddy! My health isn't that good but I am slowly recovering.

A quick preview of how the Sentinel moves (sorry for the movie quality, I am testing new tools)


Explaining how the boss works:
It has two forms, which is changed as it runs low on energy (showing damage to the face)

First form
- Attacks only on the sides, at a specific distance
- Safe points: under the head and long distance
- Can switch to dodge randomly instead of attacking

Second way
- Attacks only on the sides, at a specific distance (but must attack below it too)
- Safe spots: long distance
- Can dodge randomly while standing
- Can randomly change the attack to a more powerful attack, which causes hitting in 3 areas

Time for some short updates:


- Thor (shown in Ragnarok mode) now can run and run attack like all other chars. His old dodge will still be available

- The sky has a new parallax effect (Thanks Damon Caskey for the trick). Also, the sky and the buildings are now separated layers.

- Almost all basic enemies are now bound to the screen so they wont get off, which makes the game quicker.

- Now the Hyper Move/Avengers power is done by pressing Down, Up , Special. Its way easier to perform :)

I want to share something I did and I really proud of how it looks :)

An idea I wanted to do has been around for a long time and I managed to do it now: working with palettes in the scenarios. The color of the scene changes according to the element in use - each element works differently - and, if there are 2 players, you face more enemies.

Only at this stage, the Elemental does not randomly change its palette (which makes it change power) when it rises after a fall.

Oh, and now the select screen has a little slide effect on each character

Thanks buddy. Yes, it can be played with a gamepad - I play with my kids using a gamepad. Just the first player will be controlable by both keyboard and joystick if you try to configure it.

its on my plans to make a full screen white fx which will quickly fades.
What amazes me is that all this change is native by the engine, you don't need to use any script :)

Hey I downloaded the current public version and my gamepad won't work. It lets me map it but as soon as I hit OK it wont read the inputs. I'm using a PS4 pad

Hum, I know that some builds can have some issues with gamepads, but last time I tested with a PS4 pad, it was okay.

Added some speed effects on Quicksilver's legs for the underwater stage. Notice the shadow effect when you pass in front of a rock - everything gets darken :)

And I was planning to give the same submarine to all characters but, to speed up the process, some players will use the same vehicle they use on the flying stage, with some modifications.

Btw way, I really liked the result of this underwater stage. There are a lot of layers, light effects and even a water displacement efffect :)

Here is a fast and furious preview of the Tigra update, run by Psykai  our official beta tester. He really is a beast with Tigra, performing combos that I didn't even know I could do :)

Tigra needed some adjustments, so several things were changed:
- Combo enders are different.
- New riseattack, much more useful than the previous one.
- New grab special (thanks Zvitor for the cut effect sprites)
- Your grabback now hits enemies around (I had forgotten to set this up)
- New grabdown, useful for controlling crowds.
- Normal attacks have a little more range
- Down, Up attack freespecial now has a wider range, including on the ground.
- You can see which mode you are selecting on the selection screen
- Now the name of the characters is spoken when you select them and not when they enter the game.
- One of the Hellcat mode specials now has less pause when it hits, making it less vulnerable.

The video is a combination of 3 videos - two in Tigra mode and one in Hellcat mode on the boss side. Just see what wonderful combos Psykai can do!

Another killer gameplay made by Psykai, now with Iron Man in Mark I mode - this mode has a specific Avenger Power, which has less frontal range, but more lateral range.
In the right hands, it's a combo machine.

Bobby is one of my fav X-Men, all I need left is Storm and I got my fave mutants.
He looks insane, so incredibly fun and cool. Amazing job Ilu, and Psykai for the gameplay

Passive Iceman skills:
- Full immunity to freezing attacks (cannot be frozen, does not take damage)
- Absolute Zero - recharges part of the power when hit by freezing attacks
- Ice Pick - High resistance (75%) to cutting attacks
- Ice armor - 25% increased resistance to all types of attacks, except flaming.
- Knockdown resistance - Resistant to the first attack that knocks a character down (some attacks still drop him on the first hit)
- Pyrophobia - 45% more damage when receiving fire attacks.

⚠️ ⚠️ Also, showing a very important change on the game: ⚠️⚠️
Now your power meter does not recover on its own over time, which directly affects the difficulty of the game.

Ways to recover your power:
- When hitting an enemy with any normal hit * - all
- When hit by enemies * - all
- Power items (blue or yellow crystal) - all
- When hit by certain types of attacks (only a few, such as Iron Man against electrical attacks)
- When using the CHARGE command (hold jump + special, just a few)
* the amount of power recharged varies from character to character.

Preview of the new Vision mode - White Vision - to hitch a ride on the series hype :) Gameplay recorded by Psykai again.

This mode has a new special - Down Up + attack - that passes through enemies to hit them in the back. During the half of the movement (when it becomes transparent), it is intangible - it cannot be hit but it also cannot hit anything, becoming tangible in the second half of the movement.

Vision also gained a unique passive ability: it is the only character in the game that recharges power over time, as the game used to be.

I took the opportunity to balance some other things.

I'm making some modifications to the Boss Rush mode, to make the fight less repetitive - after all, there are 19 bosses in a row (so far). One is the change in lighting over time, from day to night.

The new heavyweight boss in the game: Tusk.
With great physical strength, great stamina (including super armor in some moves) and throws, it's the kind of boss you want (or should) keep your distance.

He will be part of a new scenario that has two routes in the same scenario, and each part gives access to a different boss.

I've never heard of him, I like how you add more less known characters, going way outside the MCU, I remember being pleasently surprised when I saw King Shark the first time I played, I remember him for Ultimate Alliance.

Did something not common in OpenBOR: the same stage has 2 different bosses, depending on how high on the stage you are.

New character? Bear with me.



Days ago, I remembered an alternate/secret mode of a character from the Marvel vs Capcom game: Gold War Machine. In AUBF, War Machine already had this armor but I never had time to program an alternative mode - and I was having problems with some code.

This isn't a canonical character, so - and because he's quite powerful - he's likely to be a character to unlock. I don't have plans for other non-canonical characters.

Thanks to my friends Paulo HP Bender and Psykai for all their help during the development of this character.

PROS

- Great attack power (just a tad less than hulk, something like Thor maybe)
- Great defense power
- His D,F+A attack does low damage, but cannot be blocked.
- Super armor (like Hulk, won’t go in pain aim unless the move hits him hard)
- Grabwalk
- Many of his attacks has AoA properties and will make the enemies hits each others when falling
- Knockdown attack (a normal attack which knockdown most enemies)

CONS

- slower (both walk and run)
- CANNOT BLOCK (uses Knockdown attack instead)
- no Air dash (War Machine can air dash with FF on air)
- Fly will consume more MP
- All special moves cost double MP

This stage has a cool feature: progressive light - the stage starts dark and gets lighter as you progress on it.
Also there is a new enemy - can you guess from which game it comes from?

Something I forgot to post here
 This is a challenge that will take place on the way to the Sentinels: Mutant Power Inhibitor.

During this path, the player will not be able to choose any characters with mutant powers, until they face this Sentinel Core.

• If you win, all mutant characters are available to be chosen (and only here will you be able to unlock Colossus and Nightcrawler)
• If you lose, you won't lose a life like in the video, but you'll be thrown into a new path, where you won't be able to choose mutated characters until the end of the game.

I'm still developing the rules for this battle, but it will be necessary to defeat him within the allotted time (45 seconds), which is not very easy.

New scenario and new boss for Endurance mode: Yelena Belova, the "Dark Black Widow". I (Hercules) took the opportunity to play with my son (Colossus) the 3 stages of this mode.

This stage has something new: Using the amazing stage control features that OpenBOR provides, the stage moves randomly in several directions, including controlling the "rock" setting (which makes the floor shake, in different styles ).




I still need to tweak some things, like the size of the Mockingbird and the groups of enemies - it's working normally for 1 player, but not for 2 players, which makes mixing different types of enemies.

The game should be updated this year

A little more of the mutant with powers to become intangible and who has a really cool dragon :)

She has great mobility, is fast, the dragon helps a lot in her gameplay but she is not very physically resistant, so you need to be careful or you receive fatal damage (as shown in the video).

As our friend Deadpool rides a pony with My Little Pony colors in the aerial level, I thought I had to do something different for the aquatic level ;)
I'm very proud of the result I achieved in this level for the game, as it has many layers of parallax, speed changes during the game, front layers that darken those who pass over them and other things :)
