I commend you on your work, I think for a first character this is a fun attempt.

Would you happen to be using QuickFist's color separated sprites? http://mugenguild.com/forum/topics/r-mika-warusaki3-color-separation-patch-quickfist-183494.msg2402864.html#msg2402864 I think it'd be fun for you if you're interested in making wacky palettes for her (and if it isn't too late to replace sprites of course).

Sadly I'm not using them, I'm inserting all the sprites myself (it's easier for me to remember their group/index numbers). And now it IS a bit late to replace the sprites :(

did you incorporate delusiontrim's butt slap anim? its made within the confines of the 16 color limit so it should more than be capable of being in this mika (maybe for her level 3?) :P

I saw that someone made an animation of her butt slap, not sure if we are talking about the same person, but I plan to include it :P

If I can't code it right I'll try doing a simple version of the move. It has a lot of variations, maybe I'll do only 3 variations, one for each button (light/strong/heavy).

EDIT: Also I'll make 2 different CMD files because I hate doing these 360 / 720 motions.
1 CMD for the original inputs and 1 for easier inputs.

Great surprise I really hope you will add Sardine's Beach super.
IMO, I'ts a really fun part of her gameplay!

What about her flying peach hitting OTG :D
Perhaps she can just drop on liedown opponent for a variation ?

Also, I never got satisfied from SFZ3 and SFV versions of R.Mika, si I'm pretty sure taking the base of SFZ and adding few stuffs from her SFV versions would make her great.

Also, can someone give me proper damage numbers? I don't know if I'm doing it right. What I'm using (more or less):
between 20 and 30 for light attacks, around 50 for medium, around 80~90 for heavy, 110~120 for throws and specials, 130 for EX specials, 150~200 for LV1 supers, 250~350 for LV2 supers and about 400~500 for LVL3
And aside from normal attacks (which I use 0), I put 1/2 of the normal damage for the guard damage, or 1/3, 1/4 if I think it deals too much damage.

Just look at some chars in this style made by divine/cruz or jmorph/knuckles to get a good understanding of what the damage values should be

Oh, I really wanted Nadeshiko sprites to use in her lv3 super (I want to make it similar to what they do in SFV, you know, the double butt thing)
Or... if is not possible to do that, I'm accepting ideas for a new lv3 super. I thought about a new throw, something similar to what Zangief do in his supers. Any ideas are welcome :P

If I can't include her in the super, I'd love to add her to Mika's intro at least.

The name of her level 3 finisher should be called "Rainbow Destroyer". Definitely make it simlier from Zangief's grapple move but not too slmlier. If not, just make it a massive butt attack lmao.

- About cancelling the light punch before attacking, that's also possible for the crouch light punch. Same thing for the crouch light kick.
- In SFA3 she doesn't roll after the c.HP if she hits.

Your job is pretty good!
I would have love to see more Sardine Beach variations, but it's still great!

And about her super move where she lands on opponnent, it looks like she go through it.
perhaps adjusting her position or udsing some custom edited sprite would make it looks better?

Because I was having my hopes up to see a character that doesn't exist already or needs improving. Since it is Ingrid, I hope you find a way to make yours different to theirs.

Then again, that's true. There's a ton of characters that exists in PotS style already, so it would be hard to make something that doesn't.

Oh, I totally understand. That's why I'm editing her effects to look more "HD". I didn't find Ingrid with HD effects like this (that's already something different). Plus I want to give her an AI worthy of a boss character that she should be.

Why ? its pals ? you can switch them yourself, the color separation is the same.Pals is a taste thing, its not mandatory for DeathScythe to use the same pals as DW.

It's ALMOST the same, my Akuma has more colors for the Kanji on his back, in the original separation by Froz they share color with the Aura.

Yes, and you can import palettes too, just make sure to add colors for the Kanji, it's only 4 colors. :P

Ok, here is Mika's template. I got lazy with the little color sample boxes because THERE IS A LOT OF COLORS.

Still accepting palettes for Ingrid.

I forgot to include a pic of Mika showing theet, but is the white in the same line as the shocked colors.



Last, but not least, Akuma.

He uses the CS Froz did, plus 4 colors for the Kanjis. This means palettes for DW's Akuma (or any other who uses this CS) will work, just make sure to add the Kanji colors.

Akumaid doesn't have animation, is a single sprite (there is one more alternate Akumaid version in the sff as well). Why you ask? I know you make MB and shocked sprites every now and then, could it be that you made animated Akumaid? :o

Do you plan to add the explod buffer to these guys ?
I was not going for it at first, but since you asked, I'm going to study it (as I don't know how it works yet) and maybe add it.
Edit: Ok, I took a look at how the Explod buffer works and I'm planning on adding it.

Good news. I successfully (I hope) added EBS on Akuma. Since this is the first time I'm messing with it, I hope I didn't break anything in the char. At least until now and from what I tested he is playing good.

Now I need to insert it on Mika and Ingrid, and I'm planning on releasing them all at the same time.

EBS added on Ingrid, and a lot of fixes on all 3 chars.
Kongou Kokuretsu Zan added on Akuma as a lvl 3, yeah, this goes against what I initially wanted (not adding moves outside CvS2) but I felt he was lacking a second lvl3, and I like this move a lot. It's Normal Akuma exclusive since Shin Akuma has Misogi.
I think these two are probably ready for a re-release, but I'll wait for some people to respond me in order to add something else (you'll see...  >:D), also I'm still waiting for palettes (go make them!)
Now only Mika needs the EBS and they are ready to go. :8):

Hey guys. I have bad news. My laptop needs to be repaired so I won't be messing with MUGEN for a while. My creations are safe, so no need to worry. As soon as its fixed I'll be back. For now I'll be using my brother's laptop which still have Windows XP (forget MUGEN or Fighter Factory, I can't even open MS Paint here without lag), but at least I can check the forum.

Thanks Mysticus for the pal, I'll add as soon as I get my laptop back. Love it that Bison have Link's colors.

I have no clue, I also don't know a place that fix these things near where I live.
But don't worry, I discovered that my brother's laptop can run MUGEN AND Fighter Factory. At least I can continue the updates here until I fix my laptop or buy a new one. The only thing I'm missing is Photoshop, but I'll try downloading it later.

Edit: Just added both Mysticus' and Sabockee's palettes. Thank you again!

Some of you already know from the MFG discord server that I've been working on Sakura for some time, I think it's time to show some stuff. She already has pretty much everything from her CvS2 incarnation done, including specials and super moves, I'll be adding extra stuff. Don't ask what the moveset will be because even I don't know for now. What I can tell is yes, Dark Sakura will be included, yes, I plan to add stuff from SFIV and V, and yes, I'm open to suggestions.

I would love if she take some normal moves from SF4 + SF5. and specials, throws etc...
But with keeping the base from SFA3+CVS2...
More like adding extra moves rather than replacing the old ones.

Just in case, her LP palette in SFA2 is default one, her skirt blue tones are slightly brighter is the only difference, so we'll ignore that.

So gorgeous... I liked them particulalry "SFA2 HP" ... It was one of my fav as a teenager :D

I was less into SFA3 pals, but always loved "SFA3 - V-Ism 2" color even if I was not a V-ISM player.

More and more, I feel like this will be the best Sakura...

Her normals from 4 and 5 are almost the same as in SFA and CvS. The additional special moves are in. I can drop a movelist later. ;)

Ah, since Mika was my first character and I wasn't as experienced at the time, she needs a lot of rework. A more complete version of Sardine's Beach is on the plans. For te additional moves, I need to check what is available for me to use (more specifically sprites), it's hard for me to dissect moves from SFV cause I don't have the game. I do it through youtube videos. I remember wanting to include her super with Nadeshiko but lacking the sprites. :P

AFAIK, he only works with comissions and I don't plan on spending money on that. It's also no big deal for me, not something I'd die for, if I can do it, nice, if I can't, it's fine too.

As for the progress on Sakura, it's going good. I work slowly and sometimes I'm lazy but don't worry lol. I like to pay attention to every detail.
Yesterday I noticed the sff I was using was missing sprites, and the ones in there were misaligned. I realigned them using the sprites with axis by Insanius as reference (which took way too long, more than I expected), now I need to insert the missing sprites and CS them.

The code for both Normal and Dark mode is almost done. She is missing one super on each mode, AI, and the finishing touches like intros, win quotes and so on. I'll drop the current move list for both modes later if you guys are interested.

About R Mika. I'm not so eager to see Nadeshiko's moves or something.
But I wish you can give her some normals and specials from SFV since many many great quality customs have been done for her.

Also, for Haru Ranman: you have a 3k command input for Midare Zakura anyway. So, why not use a proper "QCBx2 + 3K" for Haru Ranman?
...now that I think of it, what would be the difference for Dark Sakura's LVL3 Midare Zakura compared to its normal versions? For us, P-Styled junkies, it's at this point is P-Style's trait to rectrate moves' LVL3 versions as MAX versions of them in our chars. What's your idea there to outdo the MAX version, which is already, supposedly, based on LVL3 version of it in the games?

No EX moves for Dark Sakura, I think it became a thing that alternate modes don't have EX moves, also because she deals more damage without them anyways.

Ah, yeah, Haru Ranman is supposed to be 2qcb3k, I just forgot to put it there. :sweatdrop:

As for Midare Zakura, well, Capcom made two different moves with the same name for some reason:
- Normal Sakura gets the Midare Zakura that is in CvS2, nothing changes
- Dark Sakura gets it too, but the lv3 version is that one where she does a combo, like in MSHvSF and MvC2.

At first I was going to make it as a normal super with max variant, but, the combo is too long and too cool to tone down, instead, I made it a lv3.
Some people suggested making it a lv2 instead, but I liked it more as a lv3. They also suggested the beam hadoken from the versus series as a lv3, but I'm not much a fan of them, not in a CvS/PotS based character at least.
So instead of removing the normal and max version from Dark Sakura, I just left it as it is. I don't know, felt too empty without them. I'm open to suggestion on this one though. :P

But the truth (to me) is that many SFV critical arts are not that interesting when you remove all the flashy camera effects.

You aren't going to get much use out of it since it's only 1 sprite. If you had a full animation then maybe it'll be up for consideration.

Uh, but... why is that? What is wrong with the hadoken animation? I'm sticking to it since that's how she does it in CvS2.
The throw is just her kick throw from CvS2 but done in the air. Because of the lack of custom sprites this is the only air throw that looks good for now.

In the middle of working on Sakura I noticed how well experienced other authors are and how little I know about FG compared to them, which made me have one of those existential crisis and I lost interest on continuing her. And, if that wasn't enough, I don't have as much free time as I had because I started a new job. I can't even sleep well anymore, and as y'all may know, making content for MUGEN takes time. That's why now I just comment in one topic or another and that's it.

tldr: i got tired of the mugen + work is killing me and now I have barely any free time.

About Sakura, I want to finish her, I want to make her unique. She is like 80% coded, just needed to add 2 or 3 supers and the finishing touches. However since I have almost no free time now, it's hard to get interested on continuing her. Who knows...

As I've said several times, you sometimes seem to try to put yourself down without needing to.
Your chars are great, solid, so as much as you think that, I think the vast majority here have a contrary opinion.
It's a shame, but since you think that, good luck, I just think you could put your char so that someone else can continue it.

Your Sakura was one of the more exciting Mugen project I had in mind.

I was even willing to create a SFF patch for your Sakura.

But I understand IRL is a priority, and health particularly.

Actually, I'm mostly in the same situation as you.


Hope you will not give up forever with such an advanced project.
And yes, if you lost motivation, perhaps you can release this Alpha so some creators with more free time can complete it?

This is basically me at times. I wanna make my chars source accurate when possible, but doing so without the knowledge of CvS2 and such compared the likes of Jmorph and Karma is rather daunting.

My advice: If you 100% feel the burnout, you can maybe set her aside and release a beta version of her for the time being so we can finally enjoy her even if she's not fully-cooked.

My only tweak would be in binding of opponent. (Even if I'm pretty sure it's still WIP)
I would adjust Sakura position to stomp a bit closer to upper body of opponent. So she actually stomp the chest too.

I asked myself about it, too.
But it definitly looks good to me.

It adds some kind of twisting effect to the move itself, making it even more dynamic.
This is also what I like in mugen, when stuffs are not perfectly accurate in term of animation.

Yeah, as I said, I still have to adjust the positions. It's hard because not every character have the same height. For example, when testing against KFM she lands in his stomach, but testing against herself she lands a bit lower, see what I mean? But I'll do my best to adjust it. Glad that you liked it!

I thought the same thing, but honestly, in game the animation is so fast you don't even notice. You may notice if you stare at it for some time. And in my defense, Capcom did this all the time too! They recycled sprites in some animations that looks a little odd (one example is after her Shun Goku Satsu, Sakura has the back pose sprite, but not the turning animation, they reused one of the punch sprites I think?), so... I think it looks good anyway. ;D

Dark Sakura in the games she appears don't have an alternate stance (it's the same as normal Sakura) however there are sprites for an alternate stance (borrowed from PotS Sakura :mhmm: ), and also she can transform mid fight at the cost of some power bars. Would you guys want it? I thought about making these as options in the config.txt, so people can easily enable or disable it. For now she can't transform and has the same animation for both versions.

A config would be nice. I know the transformation was a thing in MvC2, but it's not something she's really known for, and transformations, while not some something you see everyday for this style and would be cool to see, aren't that fit for it IMO.

The stance I think that it depends on what you want with the dark mode, do you plan to make her an evil counterpart or just an alternative/powered up version of Sakura? If it's the first go with the alternate stance, at least this is what I would do.

About the transformation I would like to have the option to choose if I want it or not, but with the transform being disabled by default.

I have started the next thing on my "to do" list, which is... update my old characters. Right now working on Akuma.
The plans are:
- Accurate hitboxes
- Accurate animation timings
- Messatsu Gou Rasen and Messatsu Gou Senpuu (Super Tatsu / Air Super Tatsu)
- Better AI
- More special intros
- Extended CS
- Bug fixes, CNS clean up, etc.

And one thing that I always found intriguing is that his super tatsu in source is either QCF QCF K (SF3) or QCF 2K (MvC2), but in Mugen some authors use QCB instead. It's understandable since normal tatsu is performed with QCB. Which one you guys prefer? I have put up a poll.

I choose QCFx2 K because of SoUrCe AcCuRaCy

Jk, it's because it honestly a different input for Akuma, At least it makes him a bit more different than the other shotos. (Even though he is still pretty different lol)

I think probably QCBx2 since Metsatu Goshoryu is QCFx2 (I think that's how they do it when you unlock EX Options in SF3's home ports), but that's what I think.
Also, if possible, perhaps maybe you could do an alternate command toggle for it, like you did with Sakura's Level 3s?

Actually both have the draining animation! I included both in the .air too, so people can pick the one they like. The Silent Magician one is going to be the default.
Huge thank you to DivineWolf who provided the CS and specially @sabockee: who made the Silent Magician bliss sprites.

For the second question, I plan to include the Sundrive super (don't know who invented it but is not an official move).
This also means I'm updating my old version of Ingrid, rather than the edit Rness released a few months ago. But I'm including things from this edit in my version, while leaving others. I personally don't like chain combos and this is something I will not carry to my update.

If you mean like Bliss and Shock, no. These two are what I usually add to my characters and I get really lazy when it comes to add custom stuff. Unless you guys have a suggestion for special states to add. Also the fact that there are not many custom sprites made (for Ingrid) and I'm not a spriter. :P

I was procastinating my updates and was going to update Akuma first, but then came a special case with Ingrid (I want it to be a surprise) so I decided to update her first. I thought I could finish her in like a few days but she had a lot more issues than I thought, and I also got a bit busy with IRL work, so... the updates will take a while. The good news is that now I'm a lot more experienced and she's going to be a lot more solid, or at least this is what I hope. lol

- Added intros vs KarmaCharmeleon's upcoming Ryu and Evil Ryu
- Corrected a typo in Shin Akuma's def file
- Reorganized config.txt so now it is ONE config file for all modes
- Added small sparks option to config.txt (like I did for Ingrid and Sakura)
- Akuma and Shin Akuma now uses their CvS default palette instead of my original default ones
- Removed some unused content

Basically, you can combo into Shun Goku Satsu from Shououken, which somewhat renders Midare Zakura to be somewhat redundant, granted that the opponent's still grounded, again only a minor thing I've noticed.

It was something very minor, I think one of her hitboxes was moving 5 pixels away or smh, Ill find it again and grab a video for you, however as mentioned its very minor.
