Don't forget that you have to wait 6 hours after your registration before you can actually do anything.

I don't understand why does the creators in mugenchina likes to encrypt their characters in JMC format

at least they will not complain about people stealing their stuffs.

this was attempted before this side of the mugne community when the unerground drama started, to complete failure.

So, and how do we get this stuff to work? Even with the new Winmugen.exe I couldn't play with those characters.

An interresting question: does someone know how to extract the chars from the "encrypted" archives? (or simply how to get them uncrypted?)

this is a question of public interest...

to get these characters to work using the broken, inconvenient encrypttion method, you have to place the encrypted mugen exe and .jmc files in your mugen directory.

then you add the character into your select.def without the.jmc extension, and run the winmugen encryption (better rename it to MUGEN2 or something)

IMO none of the characters using this method are worth downloading at all. sure, maybe if they wern't archived, they'd be worth a play, but for something that is being treated like this: no, i'm sorry it's just stupid, and not worth wasting time for

-I can't make palettes for them
-I can't make a separation patch for them (mainly for Gato)
-I can't change the commands: my keyboard doesn't allow for QCFx2 X+Y-esque commands, so if a character has those commands, GUESS WHAT? i can't use them, cause of this stupid shit

wah

Besides, this character is not good, anyway. The same guy made an Ash, which I thankfully didn't try, but I heard he RAPED him.

the fact that all these characters are being put up in a relatively short time is definately showing

Sheesh, these people must think the world will explode if someone changes their character's damage levels.

...fuck...

anywho, word to others: not worth using another encrypted file to use a character: if you are fond of using the F# keys, it disables them

Indeed. I won't use a downgraded MUGEN only for those characters. THAT SUCKS, BADLY!!!!!

that's the price to pay to make locked chars
no one is going to use them

Finally I get them to work. Honestly I don't have any problem with using them. I can always make separated Mugen of them. Message for those who are hate them because they are so hard to get:

No one force you to download them or using them. Leave comments like "they suck because they are secured" it's just stupid IMO. And scared people. You should actualy try them THEN post your opinion.

Of course if they are really that bad that's because of them not because they are secured and required some work to run them... Also blame leechers for securing.

First, you can change the moves
Second, the winmugen exe encrypted is a debug version with informations ... :(

Post by: Snake on September 30, 2007, 12:58:59 am
actually, you can't change the moves, or anything: the characters are in .jmc format, and IIRC it was made as .jmc with Molebox. you want to extract anything from the .jmc to change, you gotta ask MDK himself to give them to you, which i doubt he, or anyone else using this stupid format, will...

i've tried the characters before saying "they suck". some play ok, some don't at all. it doesn't justify keeping them after all that. I liked his MLDan and MC Chris, but thats it...*i found out that MC Chris HAD X+Y moves, but i fixed that*

It's a better suited tactic for a full game, and even then it's nice to allow some customization possibilities.

This wasn't a good idea at all.

Last time I played KOF Zillion, it sucked.  The video isn't filtered, so there is no point to locking as the new sprites are the only thing of value there.

it would be fun to break the encryption, though. especially becasue we know at least 50% of what the decrypted files are like.

I already have High Resolution Mugen and regular Mugen. I'll wait to make the Downgraded Mugen until better characters give me a reason to. Just too much work for what is available right now. Silly Willies.
