Title: Capcom Fighting All Stars - MUGEN Version
Post by: Nestor on May 06, 2009, 07:58:21 pm
(http://i109.photobucket.com/albums/n46/Sub-zero99/CapcomFAS/cfaslogo.png)

Capcom Fighting All Stars is a game that will bring the most representative characters from different Capcom videogames, like Ryu Street Fighter, Rose from Street Fighter Alpha, Cody from Final Fight, Leon S. Kennedy from Resident Evil 4, and more, like Strider, Haunting Ground and Megaman.

The gameplay is inspired by the versus series, including a custom tag system (done in collaboration with IMT, based on code by AeroGP, Sludge, Beximus and Trasgo7).

Chars will have (mostly) sprites inspired by the Capcom Vs. SNK series, as well as the Marvel Vs. Capcom series. We're doing our best keeping the sprites with a unique style as much as possible.

There will be a system to unlock content like characters and stages.

For more information, be sure to follow us at Sinhra.

FAQ

Q: Those are a lot of characters!!! How many of those are done?
R: Sprite-wise (also considering sprites done by Capcom itself), almost 3/4 of characters are done/close to be done. The others are WIP's.
Code-wise, just a pair are done, while the others are being coded. We have permission for some characters, like Hauzer, Megaman and Hayato, and even if they're coded, I'm talking only about the chars done in our current template (tag system implemented).

Q: Can we expect a demo soon?
A: Yes. Characters and stages are still being decided.

Q: Out of all of those characters, which ones are unlockables?
A: (Considering Ingrid as a row) Rows 2, 3, 9 & 10 are going to be unlockables.

Hey buddy, good to see you here! I will work with Nestor no this game too.

Our conversation about the roaster (the bold are mine thoughts)

STREET FIGHTER 2

Chun-Li - She is iconical, but she is in almost EVERY crossover. Do we need her?
Maybe we need some of the two female chars from SF2, just for the two being cool chars IMO. But now that you're working in Decapre, I think we could use just Chun-Li to fill the spot.

STREET FIGHTER 3

Urien - NO. I saw so much edits over Urien that I can't stand it anymore. Gill is far better.
Gate said about Dudley. It would be great to have him instead of Urien. Gill will probably end like a sub-boss or even as one boss.

STREET FIGHTER ALPHA

I think that Mika could enter in one of the other spots, we just have 2 chars for the Alpha series.

DARK STALKERS

Felicia - She had appeared on MVC2, I think we should give a change to other char, like Q-Bee
Morrigan - Same of above

I think that Jedah or B.B. Hood could replace them. Pyron could end as a boss or Sub-boss.

RED EARTH

Leo - he is on CFJ, we could add some other person, like Blade or Kongoh
Tessa - hum...dunno.

Well, I would like to see a Leo in a COMPLETE MvC Style. I released a beta of Leo a long time ago, but it was more like a Red Earth version with a MvC basic System. About Tessa, Blade could enter if you would like, I think I could make Tessa later, for EDC.

FINAL FIGHT

Cody - I don't like his uniform at SFA
Why not Rolento?

Of course Rolento could enter. I was waiting for one of the bad guys, but with Sodom, Poison, Hugo and Rolento, I didn't know who put in place. I saw that someone was working on a Cody with his FF uniform, for a SF Project, maybe we could talk with him.

OTHER SERIES

Ingrid - I really hate her.

I think that she has  lot of potential for a game of this kind. After all, this game is based on his original project

Jill Valentine - I Have a special version of her, not publically released, it could be cool to add.

It would be nice to see her!!!

Strider Hiryu - hum, no.
Strider Hien (Immortal Syn told me that "as long as yu give credit to kenshin for the sprites and such, I dont think there will be any problems") - The rights are from Kenshin, not Syn.

Yes. But Syn knew Kenshin. He told him that he could use the sprites of Hien if he would like. This comes from one of the post of IMT, a long time ago. Hopefully, he could enter for this time, if Hiryu can't.

Captain Commando - He is good, but kinda overused.

We could give him some changes, to make him stand apart of the classic Commando.

Regina (I need to now if ER could give us permission for use her) NOBODY HAS ANY OFFICIAL AUTHORIZATION FROM ER TO USE ANY OF THIS CHARS. If some one tells the opposite, is LIE. There is ONLY one person that has the rights over Spawn, but he is a brazilian creator. I'm chasing ER to talk about this and about some other things...

Thanks for the info. Actually, I was trying to get in contact with him through some emails, but he never answer me. Thanks!

Hayato - I do prefer Black Hayato.

The BH looks very cool, but I think it would be a little harder to edit. Of course, if we see that, in the future, it isn't as hard, BH could replace the normal Hayato.

can i suggest that you scale down the characters with alpha/sf3 style sprites so they're not so gigantic compared to cvs style sprites?

Yeah, they need to match. Its better to scale down the alpha/MVC chars or to scale up the CVS ones?

Kojunho is spriting Cody with FF clothes, he is a nice guy an probably will permit the use.

If we're talking roster wise, we want to see more from these games:

That's ridiculous wishful thinking. Not only will they require lots and lots of sprite work that will take years to make, most of those games aren't even 2d.

Well, first of all, thanks to everyone for your comments!!!

It's too much like Beximus' game IMO, but good luck with it.
This.

I actually thought it was Beximus' game for a second when I clicked the thread. ~:/

Beximus is one of the greatest MvC Style creators IMO. His work is just amazing. He's just one of the first creators that inspired me to begin this project. Also, I think that both of us have different looks for our projects. I really can't wait to see his final game released.

If we're talking roster wise, we want to see more from these games:
  • Rival Schools/Project Justice
  • Star Gladiator/Plasma Sword
  • Mega Man Legends
  • Mega Man X
  • Bionic Commando
  • Street Fighter IV
  • Breath of Fire
  • Devil May Cry
  • Viewtiful Joe
  • Cyberbots

Rival School: Ilusionista asked Li_Kun to let some of his character join the project (Hinata, Tiffany and Kyoko).
For the others, only time will tell... but at least, I think that some of them could make cameos in the game.

See you.

Ok, I have been working for some time in the ScreenPack (well, since yesterday to now really) and Ilusionista bring some good ideas, based on some videos of MayarLink user in YouTube, here it is:

CONCEPT IDEA:

Blue-stroked box: Shows the names of the characters, 2 due to the Tag system.
White-stroked box: Shows the stats of the character (Power, velocity... etc)

MUGEN REAL PROGRESS:

Thanks to XSpiderManX for the BG animation!!!

Cell backgrounds with borders should be at least be one pixel bigger on each side. For example, portraits that are 25x25 in size should have a 27x27 cellbg, the border taking up the excess pixels. After that, adjust the offset of the cellbg in the system.def accordingly.

i think it's better to scale down the alpha sprite characters, just like in cvs.
alpha sprite characters are meant for that screen size. when you put them in a 320x240 environment, they've got a lot more range and a lot less free fighting space by comparison. i've meant to say this to beximus too but haven't really contacted him

;) all of this sound (watches) good in fact the first screenpack look better but keep balanced characters and a good tag system.

BUT OMG for Olympus Gods not another moleboxed game, a game with riped sprites that use encripted system for not ripping is a f**ed **it.

who can understand that ,its imposible encript something, if one person can rip from an emulator or video why not can be ripped the sprites from the mugen engine or even is possible broke the molebox protection

is a law : if we can see it , then wee can rip them (just like the dvd movies or music cds)

please dont make a molebox mugen only make this with a very very very ORIGINAL game

Olvidé decirte que los sprites no fueron hechos por mi, sino por Relámpago, así que si utilizas los del pack, dale crédito a él :)

I'm no one here, but I'd suggest you to use a common style for the SF, I'd be using CvS sprites(just my humble thought in here). As for SF3, resize&palete will fit them into something alike CvS.

And in the end, which will be the rooster?

Good luck with your exams!!!(I'll start June, 1st)

I think you don't understand my idea. The only thing that will be moleboxed is the data folder. Why? To make the Unlock System Possible. All the other folders (chars, stages, music...) will be in their normal way. With the data system moleboxed, you'll be able to unlock chars. In the endings, some chars will have some passwords that you'll be able to use to unlock other chars and then add them to the roster. After all, in the beginning, all my works were going to be Open Source, most probably I will keep this decision with most of my works.

Thanks man!!

Don't worry FeLo, I'll add both of you to the credits, your work is really ART ;D.

About the sprites, I was thinking about that, in the beginning, all the project was going to be a Capcom Fighting Evolution (sprite-wise) and then, with the updates, the sprites would change to let all the chars with a CvS style, but it's a hard work indeed. That idea for the SF chars is very good, considering the fact that Ryu was going to use CvS Sprites since the beginning. I think Marancv was doing some sprites a-CvS for some SF3 chars that could be useful, I will investigate more.

About the roster, I'll post it later in the first page. DON'T WORRY IF SOME OF YOU DON'T SEE YOUR FAVS CHARS, they COULD be added later thanks to the unlock system, if they're not in the main roster ;).

Thanks!!! And also, good luck with your exams as well!!!

See you!

Sorry for the double post (if a mod can put together this with the previous post, it would be fine). Just to announce another new character: Viewtiful Joe by Near and Dante57 will be in Capcom Fighting All-Stars (I'll take over the coding). This project is being done in the IMT Forums. IMO, the sprites are looking very good, they still need some minor fixes, but they look very good, here's a shot for size comparison purposes:

Wow this looks really good so far, and if it's only a test it looks really good regardless of it being unfinished. I like new and different, especially when it comes to small things like this, they should never be neglected, games should have everything customized if they want to be called games.

Thanks for your comments, glad to see you're interested in this project.

@ AxKepper: I was thinking to give the grid a 3D perspective, but I still need to see if it's possible. In any case, I think I'll stick with this one as the default SP.

@ Quick: The lifebars aren't the definitive ones. I still hear propositions, as I'm not sure about them yet.

First of all, I've got no say on the end result of this project and I respect that, but just so you know:

If you're going to use the name Capcom Fighting All Stars, and not use all the returning characters originally planned for the REAL Capcom Fighting All Stars, I'm going to be sorely sorely disappointed in you.

EDIT: Oh, and you've got Maki in your roster twice.

I'd like to see brand new characters more than the usual ones, I am surprised people aren't bored with Ryu, Ken, Akuma, Dan, Sean, Gouken, Goutetsu, and any other unnamed clone I forgot to mention.

There has to be some old school characters that haven't been made yet in SF Alpha style.

I understand it is called all stars but you wanna be careful of making compilation sized games. I see great potential in your work and I'd like to see what Scruffy Dragon did for Marvel vs Capcom, they completely out did them with new and better.

I like the roster so far, keep it up.

Title: Re: Capcom Fighting All Stars - MUGEN Version

@ AxKeeper: ther roster includes some other characters aside of the ones I mentioned. Included are Regina (Dino Crisis), Tiffany (Rival Schools), Cody (Final Fight), Lou (Midnight Wanderers), Dante (Devil May Cry) and Leon (Resident Evil) to mention a few.
We're trying to avoid the inclusion of clones: Ryu is 1 of 2 shotos so far. There's no Guile, only Charlie. Regina will be very different from Jill. We hope that in the end the game will be balanced and you'll be pleased with the roster of the game, seeing old and new faces.

@ Melvana: I was discussing with a good friend about D.D. I can't say anything right now, but if something happens I'll let you all know.

@ Chosis: The confirmed characters so far that were intended to appear in Capcom's CFAS (returning ones, no new cast, even when Ingrid is in the list) and will appear here are:

  • Ryu
  • Chun-Li
  • Alex
  • Charlie
  • Batsu
  • Strider Hiryu

About the other ones:

  • Mike Haggar - I saw the one X-Boy is working on and I sent him a mail. I haven't received an answer yet.
  • Poison - I'll try to include her, based on Dampir's CvS one.
  • Akira - I still don't know if she'll be included  :-\. I hear some time ago that MAYBE Gate was working on her; however, I'm not sure right now about Akira's fate in this game.

Maybe you could try asking Acey from Infinity MUGEN if you could use his Haggar and Poison, and then edit them to fit your game.

@ .(O).: Hey pal! Don't worry, and glad to see we're going to have another version of PDC soon. I'll wait for your message :).

@ Randomish: Thanks. I already compared his size with old VJ's design, and indeed looks more small. However, when compared with Classic Megaman, they look almost the same size height. IIRC, the new Mugen RC gives you the chance of scale the characters without losing details through localcoord; if this is the case, then maybe can be implemented with Joe.

Wow this is really good, it's so new. I really like it and I can tell a lot of work went into this character, I especially like his projectile shot, it's different from the others as it has a range limit and I've never seen those blast sprites before, as far as I can tell they look brand new. Nice.

I've noticed some creators sprite light shading in the characters that recesses during the stance animation. I think adding in that detail will really make the character superbly excellent as appose to just excellent.

I know it's all a wip so you guys will undoubtedly improve everything. Great preview and great progress, keep it up ;)

i know this may be a bit late but have you thought about scrapping evil ryu and ken (if u were gonna include them) and make your CvS style Ryu into a "Complete Change" Ryu like in MvC1. By this he could have CvS sprites but work more like MvC Ryu?

Shouldnt be too hard to implement as quite a few MvC1 Ryu's have been made. You could either make it yourself or ask someone and do a spriteswap.

This way you could save a few chars on the roster. ;D

Our roster is more or less complete. Ryu is the only shoto character in it. And there won't be any complete change implemented. The characters will be in the cfas style.

Thanks for answer riccochet ;) and yeah, by the moment, I don't have in my plans to implement the Complete Change for Ryu. Maybe 1 more shoto would be in it, but right now, Ryu is the only one.
Some general updates:

- More people have joined to the team, more surprises are coming ;).

- Cutman by !E is in.

- I begun the sprite revamping for Hien, here's a preview (I forgot to add the other Hien sprites, so no hair anim, sorry).

- I'm coding Morrigan (sprites by Li Kun) and Charlie (sprites and some code by PotS). Probably Charlie will have the Sonic Hurricane, IIRC, he had a move like that in CFAS (or that's what I think it is).

- Leo released, all the fixes for him and Ryu will be added into the demo version or sooner if I get the chance :).

- The game will have now a full OST, by Nilakantha and Wizzy.
Here's Cody theme (by Wizzy): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BEr-v3ZXDds
You can check other songs in his channel, some of them are for chars that will appear in the game.

- New stages added by Daeron and DG, included Willamette Mall, Night Susaku Castle and Mountains of Spain.

If anyone is interested on help us, just send me a PM or post here please ;). We could use some help in things like :

- Lifebars, either design or full bar coded (something like the MvC3 concept of solid life, transparent holder would be nice :)). Done!
- Stages (CPS-2 Style).
- Chars coding and/or spriting.

More news coming soon ;).

The separation is good enough, although i think some people would love the top and bottom clothes separation thing.

You might have to sprite more frames for Strider Hien because he's missing like 5 in his walking anims, and alot of other attacks as well.

@ Hien: thanks, I think I'll give it a try and see how it turns out. Once I'm done with the stance I'll do the walking. The reason of this, as you said, is complete the full conversion set of sprites for Hien, as he lack a lot of them.

@ Randomish: I forgot that this version isn't the most recent, the recent one have a lot more of details, but I'll ask Daeron about it and see what does he think.

Here it is! Place your vote for the song you like the most. It will be used for the character select screen in the game. Here's a prototype of one of the SP's select screen, so you can give you an idea of what song would fit the best. Remember that more screenpacks will come as we go through development! You have until October 30th to place your vote ;).

I really like Options A and D, though I like A more, A has more of a older Capcom feel in my opinion. D just sounds kinda cool and upbeat.

A or D. Leaning towards D.

TBH, not a fan of any of those (IMO), but I go with C or D if I had to pick one. More leaning to C.

Dang, all of these are fantastic and sound like the great Capcom tracks of yesteryear. I almost picked C but the intensity seemed better suited to a dynamic continue screen. I think I'm going with B; it's energetic and fresh. It's also got a welcoming exciting feel, but it's not too intense in a way that would be fitting an action theme or a cinema battle sequence. D is a very close second, but I think that may work a bit better as an intro sequence.

No need to rude or anything, something telling us that this project is gonna be a lonnnnng progress. Maybe a year or 2 years actually. :P

+ Megaman Zero (By Daeron)
+ Final Fight (By Daeron)

Bump.

Unfortunately, we have only a few updates #:-S. I'll be working on some of my chars through the holidays, so I hope I can post more updates before returning to school :). For now:

- I'm already experimenting with the Pre-Intro dialogues. If you can come up with a good dialogue, we'll include it into the game :).
- We're looking for characters already done that could be useful, so we spend more time in the brand new ones. If you know or have any, please send me a PM to discuss about it.
- New character from my teacher Li Kun :)!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bzPwP9G2FsU

I'll post ASAP the list of the confirmed chars we have until now, to avoid possible dialogues with chars that aren't in the game anymore ;).

UPDATE: You can check this pic for the dialogues. Include Jin, Megaman, Fiona and Hayato. More chars will be revealed as we finish with the current ones.

Here's a test of the dialogue screens, much alike SvC Chaos. I've had some serious problems with my laptop, so hopefully this will do it for now.

Yes, actually half of the roster will be unlockable. I'd like to focus first in a part of the roster, then move on to the rest. Adding a sprite isn't a bad idea (I think Daeron was trying to suggest me this), so I'll see what can I do about this, thanks :).

@ Cartoon Sonic: I can't assure anything about a beta right now, but if it happens, we'll let all of you know.

@ Uche: through the use of pass-protected chars. Once you beat the game with one char, it will reveal a password for another character.

Sure take your time but don't forget him and yes, if you want gameplay ideas on X ever, do whistle. I have a moveset system for him that can make him a very unique character.

Anyhow, is your game going to have X-Factor like MvC3 or something like that?

And how did you manage to make 4 players selectable. Do they come one by one in transitions or directly like in MvC series?
Title: Re: Capcom Fighting All Stars - MUGEN Version
Post by: Lost_Avenger on January 20, 2011, 02:59:10 pm
Due to mugen's limits I would assume it wouldnt be round based instead of vs style. I could be wrong though.

How would the story stuff work exactly? You cant organize the rounds so it would come out like... "Dude! I have the same problem with you, but only occasionally!" Unless everyone has story stuff with the entire roster or something?

Nitpicking I guess. Good luck with your project

Please make those bars 1.0 compatible down the line.

Also, for a fullgame, I recommend using 1.0 over Win. This is because Win's sound processor is not kind, and you'll really save yourself a lot of trouble down the line from people who will heckle you for it. You don't have to make the stuff exclusive.
Title: Re: Capcom Fighting All Stars - MUGEN Version
Post by: Nestor on March 30, 2011, 02:47:35 am
Sure thing O. Gill, those will be coded for 1.0. Although for the full game, I'm thinking about code them inside of the chars (like Rednavi's CvSW). It's still an idea, but IMO it would look more professional switching the portraits and lifebars like the Vs games, instead of keep them static.

Also, the project is already using 1.0; the SP preview I posted some time ago was done with 1.0 running it.

Also, the project is already using 1.0; the SP preview I posted some time ago was done with 1.0 running it.

Are we? All the chars I saw until now were programmed for Winmugen.
But we can use winmugen chars on a Mugen 1.0 engine, it would be good, since we won't use any 1.0 specific feature.

If you're going to use 1.0, then there's no reason not to add winquotes and use the more reliable AILevel sctrl to code variable AI.

Excellent. I suggested it really just because it's more stable and such.

@Nestor: No problem man. :)  Cool, can't wait to see how he'll play.

I'm liking the lifebars, and I agree with ξ Bastard. This is should utilize win quotes. It will be a rather nice touch. :)

Thanks for your comments guys :).

@ Ilu- sorry, I haven't updated my chars for 1.0 :( but we'll use it to take advantages of some new functions, like the AI.

@ ξ Bastard - yes, I was thinking about implementing the AILevel sctrl. However, I don't how flexible are the winquotes compared with the actual ones, I'll take a look at these ;).

@ Takato-kun - no problem man, and thanks for your help, the lifebars are great! Do you think you can make the gradient for the Powerbar? I'd like to keep both the Life and power gradients uniform :).

I'm thinking about code them inside of the chars (like Rednavi's CvSW).
You don't really have to code them like that, you can code them to have like a point system, that is if you want too. Anyway, this is becoming really good!
Title: Re: Capcom Fighting All Stars - MUGEN Version
Post by: rednavi -RETIRED on March 31, 2011, 08:28:45 am
Powerbars are silly on fight.def lifebars, that's the reason why lifebars are way better when coded inside chars.

This is a small preview of some stages included in the game. Also, a preview of Morrigan. It's going to take some time until the release of new chars, as we're working on the template again (MGMURROW is working on it right now), but in the end, the result will bring new features and a more polished system.

Thanks for your help and support guys :).

- gotta love the Cart Zombie hehe
- the cameo by the Cadillacs and Dinosaurs cast was an excellent touch
- Morrigan is looking great! It's always nice to see her resprited! :)
- I was just wondering, will you guys add more to the DMC stage?

Keep up the good work! :)

Looks like a very promising   spack...
Some new edits, but it still has some clashes in the styl of the sprites....
Per example all mini portraits , would be better of on a new  compatible same as the others, and for chars it self to... some look mvc, some look snk, and some cvs...

hopefully all sparks are the same, and all hypers have same rythm  :) (just an opinion)

nice work keep it up.

Shockdingo: Thanks! Some of the stages aren't finished (like MM Zero's), so there're possibilities of add or change one thing or two. The past one (used in the intro with Batsu) had more elements, maybe Daeron will see if something else can be added in this new version.

Tsao-ri: Thanks! All the chars are intended to be in a CvS style, or something closer to it (through pallete and resize if necessary). We're not using any SNK chars, only CvS/Vs/SF chars, so it would be great if you could tell me which one looks SNK, so I can take a look at it. I don't understand what do you mean about the mini portraits, though :S.

Everything regarding the graphic system is being worked on (one of the actual updates being done), so don't worry ;).

MalaDingDong: yeah, right now Alex has the standard SF3 pallete. I'll send you a progress ASAP, so maybe you can come up with a pair of palletes for him :), thanks!

Hehe thanx for the info..
about snk, i mean old snk, or neo-geo sprites, the guy whit a gun that shots arrows...
As for Megaman, Series Still lokes like MVC style
also som still look MVC o SSF  not al CVS
if u can just put  a real roster of the ones you are working on... like the signatures but one for all to compare style.... if its not too much trouble.

Also what i meat about small portraits is that the all should have same style at least.... u made cutout of the head and upper boddy parts but hey look to diferent in style and some in size... maybe trying to add some fan arts o some vector drawings would be cool...

Why "should"? Just because someone can make a sprite doesn't means she/he "should" make a WHOLE character. Kid, learn the bases, this is not the request area, and even there, you can't ask for a character to be done.

And as I said: people who WORKS decides. If you don't work, just shut up. And wait for the (in development) surprise Leon will has ;)!

Bump (sorry  :( ).

A roster pic, so you can remember the roster so far...

FAQ:

Q: Those are a lot of characters!!! How many of those are done?
R: Sprite-wise (also considering sprites done by Capcom itself), almost 3/4 of characters are done/close to be done. The others are WIP's.
Code-wise, just a pair are done, while the others are being coded. We have permission for some characters, like Hauzer, Tron Bonne and Hayato, and even if they're coded, I'm talking only about the chars done in our current template (tag system implemented).

And that's it for now. More questions, please post them. I want to make a FAQ, so you can know the basis behind the project :).

You know, ok, I know it is quite demanding and selfish to request a character, but I had an interesting idea for a rather obscure CAPCOM character...

Ever heard of "Under the Skin"?

It's a rather odd party kind of game about a 3 year old alien, Cosmi, who travels to another planet for a maturity test that his race has to do, for their race, nothing is more honorable than Michief, and so, Cosmi has chosen the world that is the grandest challenge of them all, that all aliens fear due to the planets brutal and cruel view and treatment towards all things alien... Earth...

Now this game is very overlooked, too short, but oh so fun. The goal in the game is to disguise yourself as a human and use all kind of pranks to make people drop coins and steal them. These prank tools could range from throwing pies, to summoning a big T-Rex to trample the human population. The pranks also include falling giant Hamburgers (Hambagah), tacks on the floor, breathing fire from a torch, gigantic bowling balls or bowling balls ON FIRE, Resident Evil's Rocket Launcher, Revolvers, Dogs that bite people, A massive Golden Hammer, Flashing Camera lenses, Horrible Karaoke (seriously), Electrical bombs, TNT boxes that a remotely blown up, FREAKING TANKS, Hula Hoop rings, Tornadoes, Fireworks, Elephants, Laser guns, Cannons, Vacuum Cleaners, Boxing Gloves, Sharks, Cosmi turning into a super hero(villian?)... farting...

Needless to say, there is a lot of inspiration to use for such a character with all these stuff to use. Altough the only issue would be that Cosmi would have to be in his normal form:

Is'nt he terrifying? The horror!!

Jokes aside, is it a good idea? :S

Now this a real labour of love. A project that has been in the works for many years and still shows potential now.

What system will it be using?, MvC, CvS or something altogether different.

The roster is impressive especially considering it has Tiffany And Batsu from Rival Schools.

Keep up the good work.

Speaking of bosses, if none has been decided as of yet, I have a few ideas. :)

As a big Sub-Boss, perhaps Barubary/Barbaroy from Breath of Fire II?

He had some interesting boss type moves like his gian claw swipe, Fire and Ice Breaths, X-Lightning and counter attack. Plus a Breath of Fire cameo is always interesting, like Yami in Tatsunoko vs Capcom

Alternatively, perhaps LifeVirus.exe from Megaman Battle Network, but with moves based on Netowork Transmission.

Moves likes Firebreath, forward going ice pillairs, backward coming wood pillairs, lightning bolts, and perhaps his big laser and meteorstrike from Battle Network 1... It could work since Dr.Wily is in, okey, classic Wily, but still...

You know, ok, I know it is quite demanding and selfish to request a character, but I had an interesting idea for a rather obscure CAPCOM character...

etcetcetc

and
some random sh*t

Maybe if you sprite him someone would be coding. We're not going to take every single request some random people asks for ¬¬X. You know, mugen is a hobby and so, people who makes SOMETHING aside landing random nonsensessuggestions because they want them to fillzz their myuginzz takes their own time for making this. Thank you everyone for your comments and support, we really appreciate it :).

do we get a final boss in the demo?
No.

What system will it be using?, MvC, CvS or something altogether different.
The gameplay is inspired by the versus series, including a custom tag system (done in collaboration with IMT, based on code by AeroGP, Sludge, Beximus and Trasgo7).

BTW, who's doing palettes for characters? I would be interested in trying to do cameo-style palettes for characters if possible. :)
MalaDingDong is the one helping with the palettes (sorry I haven't send you nothing recently pal, I was going to send you Fiona, but she's going to receive a palette separation).

@ Reimu: thanks man; hopefully we'll be able to release a small demo soon, so we can get feedback about the system :).

@ lemres: he's not in the game anymore.

In other news, Li Kun did a small poll yesterday, so he can work in a new char. If you went to Sinhra, then you know who the options were :) if not, here they are:

Roll (Megaman):

Rouge (Power Stone):

Claire (Resident Evil):

Nina (Breath of Fire):

The winner was Rouge :) so you can expect some news once Li Kun completes Fiona.

Thanks for your comments guys :).

About the characters, Li Kun will do some moves for Nina as well. Roll is discarded (at least for now), and Claire will be done based on the design of Alan Joestar, riklaonel and Zero de Armentis. She'll be DLC. The first sprite is the design we will try to achieve.

Also, Li Kun is looking for some sprites from Breath of Fire 4 to work on Nina (attacks mostly, he already have a movement sheet). Any help is greatly appreciated :D.

Also... we're focusing in other characters...

It's fine to use Rugal as a base, but he looks far too big as of right now. The artist's right hand and the face could also use some work.

Other than that, great. Make sure to get some color separation on him so I can make his UMvC3 colors.

Love Fiona. the spritework and the animation is amazing. I played the game and I thoug of first time that her dog was always present in the fight. In the game, the dog got (almost) all the work...

Fiona is an obscure character but Capcom gals fans always remembers a beauty face!!

@ MDD: I'll talk with Daeron about it, thanks for the suggestion man :). Also, the base isn't Rugal, is Eagle.

@ Laharl: if you can tell us where they need to be fixed, perhaps we can do something...

@ Quim: Hewie will be always on the fight ;) that was just a small cameo. I'm beginning the code of the helper, so I thought that a small cameo now would be fine :).

I'm actually curious now. Will all of those that are being used in this project be released outside of it at all by any chance? And not to push or be nosy or anything, but roughly how much more do you think is done so far on the entire thing, or on each character? I know I know...this has been going on for a long time and is far from being close to done, but just curious as to where it stands at this time~
Title: Re: Capcom Fighting All Stars - MUGEN Version
Post by: Nestor on December 29, 2011, 12:40:44 am
It's a valid question Reimu, thanks for asking :). Sprite-wise (also considering sprites done by Capcom itself), almost 3/4 of characters are done/close to be done. The others are WIP's. Code-wise, just a pair are done, while the others are being coded. There're, more or less, 8 characters being coded right now with the actual template. We have permission for some characters, like Hauzer, Tron and Hayato, and even if they're coded, I'm talking only about the chars done in our current template (tag system implemented).

Characters like Phoenix Wright and Batsu were being worked on some months ago before their announcement; we try to get something stable before announce anything.

The plan was release a demo before the year's end. All of us got into some thing or another, so we couldn't make the demo possible (and personally, I don't like to release anything that still needs work).

We'll try to release a demo with (at least) 2 characters, for system testing purposes, so we can get some feedback while we still work on other characters :).
Title: Re: Capcom Fighting All Stars - MUGEN Version
Post by: Xenomic on December 29, 2011, 12:51:18 am
I see. Seems like a good idea to release a demo like that, just to iron out any bugs and whatnot. Quite a bit of work put into this I must say, especially for how long it's been going on.

Now my next question, which is my typical question that I always ask everywhere, what all special effects are going into this thing (I see Demitri so I already know that MB is in, though whether it be CFJ or SvC/DS styled, I do not know. Or at least, I THINK that's going to be in if he's in...).

Ah. Understood~

Maybe someday down the road, I'll have some for ya from my spriter (if he's willing that is, though that'll probably be for individual releases or whatnot and all that jazz. Still a lot of other things to be done than custom states at the moment anyways!), or from me, if I ever teach myself to sprite better and actually have motivation to do so~

@ Reimu: thanks a lot buddy :D!

@ Laharl: his stance isn't going to change from what I know, unless Daeron does otherwise. He'll have some of his UMVC3 moves, though.

@ jweezy34: his launcher will be a hit with a suitcase.
Title: Re: Capcom Fighting All Stars - MUGEN Version

Of course, have to wait until things are released and whatnot, and have to see if either of us are still interested in doing shocks and whatnot at that time. Also, the other reason I asked about that state specifically is because aside from Necro, there's also Crimson Viper who also capable of said state. I dunno, maybe it's just me being picky but ehhh! lol

Though I will say, if I do do them (or my spriter, whichever), I can say who's gonna get it first >:3

Are you going to be using the psyche locks? I always imagined him having some sort of psyche-lock counter using an animation where he brought out his Maya's magatama, where the opponent would be temporarily chained with one of the psyche locks.

Or Godot coming out and throwing hot coffee at his opponent.

Nestor, why don't you ask for a subboard like the other Game projects here? You could categorize and organize things much better wich would make the reading much better for each subject.
Title: Re: Capcom Fighting All Stars - MUGEN Version
Post by: Nestor on December 30, 2011, 04:08:37 am
@ MDD: Daeron is going to keep it more simple IIRC, so, right now, Phoenix will have a unique mode, so no turnabout.

@ C-G-U: the Magatama is going to be implemented, as well as Godot as a helper.

From a Daeron's post:
Quote
Ive planned to incorporate 7 helpers at least:

Edgeworth will be part of an hyper, were he argues with Phoenix with the court tables.
Franziska will use his wip
Missile will run and hit
Gumshoe (still no sure what he will do)
Will powers will hit with his spear
Godot will trhow his coffe
Maya will use a proyectile repulsor

Pearl will appear, but i want her to be part of the stage, other Pw characters will also make the cameo in the stage.
Here you can see Apolo, but he will not appear neither in the stage or the character, because i count it as a different franchise.

@ DJ Track: perhaps I could ask for one. The main info is at Sinhra, but if people would feel more comfortable with a sub-board here, then I have no problem posting here as well :).

He's just oversized, but the real problem here with all of them is that the spriter isn't even TRYING to make the bases unique, for example, all of the men (cept one but it's taken from the same base anyway) have the same left leg. Why not try to differentiate all of them, and besides, since when was PW bow-legged?

Gummy should run and trip or dive forward. If he hits or the opponent comes close to him while he's down he'll hold the opponent in place.

Pretty much just like Shingo's striker move.

or act like a shield, comes out trying to greet Phoenix, gets hit, scratches head, feels ignored and walks away lol, or sneaks you evidence/weapons. If Ema Skye had been done, I would have suggested luminol sprays as her attack/assist.

The one Daeron posted is exactly from IMT. I did ask about this, but I included Mia except Missile.

Godot's skin colour's a bit light there.
That's my concern. He looks white. He's supposed to be light-skinned (as in brown).

Gummy should run and trip or dive forward. If he hits or the opponent comes close to him while he's down he'll hold the opponent in place.
I like that idea! I had an idea for Gumshoe, posting about (maybe he or Phoenix using) a detector that can fool an opponent that is a metal detector but it turns out to be a shocking gadget, which zaps or knocks the opponent down.

Thanks for your comments guys :) and BTW, we're taking note of everything. I couldn't post yesterday, but I sent a mail to Daeron, so he can check the feedback from 4 forums, so, don't worry ;) we really appreciate your comments and support :).

I like that idea Enso! Sounds neato, though I think it should go with Gumshoe probably over Phoenix. I don't know, I see Phoenix leaving a lot of things to his "assists" and whatnot while he's busy doing other things. Maybe Phoenix will throw paperwork at people while that's going on. Who knows!

Also, that would be a 3rd character that does that in here zapping people :V *Shot*

This is what I posted from IMT about the idea before Daeron posted the AA sprites, Reimu. Yes. Gumshoe is one of 'em.

I know it's gonna be too much work of spriting on helpers or strikers, but maybe Maya, Edgeworth, Franziska, Mia, and Gumshoe could be additional help as well. If you don't like it, that's okay with me. :)

Maya: UMVC3 Counterpart.

Edgeworth: Accusing the opponent by slamming the table and creates a threatening argument while pointing his finger to the opponent by damaging the health bar. I don't know.

Franziska: Whipping the opponent once or more. Supers - she gives multiple whips to the opponent.

Mia: A ghost who's helping Phoenix whenever his health is probably low or whenever he calls her for help in whatever he wants.

Gumshoe: One move could be a joke, but it can cause damage to the opponent by using a detector not for metal, but probably can zap the opponent. A detector can fool an opponent, by making it detect like it's for metal when it beeps, but while it's beeping, it can shock the opponent out.

I don't know. It's just my idea.

Hello there. I was looking at the projected roster for this game, and it mostly looks fine, but I had also noticed a difference in the roster from when I last looked at it; what happened to Haggar?

...Aside from that, I've been playing some Slam Masters recently, and I think it'd be nice to finally bring up that series again, and get someone in there (aside from Haggar,) in there. There's some great designs in there, and there's likely at least one in there that you feel you could use, if you gave the games a look. (My vote's either for Rip Saber, or Rasta, who was originally Blanka's prototype design.) Anyway, just my two cents.

EDIT: I also noticed that 12 or so of the characters in the roster so far have been in Street Fighter. Wouldn't it be better to only have 4 or 5 SF characters, (regardless of whether or not they've been in  Final Fight,) and thus have a more varied roster, that's more representative of CAPCOM's various works? (Both Marvel vs CAPCOM 2, and especially CAPCOM vs SNK 1&2 suffered from this; CvS might as have been called 'SFvsKoF With Guests.)

Haggar: waiting for a response from X-Boy about a PM I sent him some time ago.

About Slam Masters, there's always place for other franchises, if we can get the sprites, of course :).

Finally, about the more varied roster: If we took out 6 SF, for example, those spots are gone; we aren't planning to put anyone else in their place, unless we replace it with a character already-sprited.

Even thought she's no all-star, Ruby Heart would be a good addition to this game(if not already in; didn't see her name anywhere). You can use my version/edit or use anything you want from my version when she's finished. Sprites are color separated. I like this project and good luck.

Hey, thanks Buckus :D I'm sure we can use her in the game, all the help is always appreciated :).
BTW, real life is being a bit hard nowadays, mostly due to school. I'll pretty much finish with everything in June 4-8, so expect a few updates in this month.

This one comes from Li Kun: Chris Redfield revamp (based on riklaionel and Alan Joestar Chris, of course), and I'm working on palette separation. I think it's OK now, still I want to separate his gloves and I think that would be more than enough.

I'd like to throw out there that since Buckus and Garuda have given me permission to use their commissioned Haggar sprites in other projects, you are welcome to include Haggar in this game as well. He's very close to completion, probably 2 weeks or so away. I hope contributing Mr. X, Wesker and Haggar makes up for me never doing those Leon animations.   :S

@ Sean Altly: thanks man :D!!! We'll have now a great Haggar too, and glad to hear he's close to completition, you work really fast Sean. And don't worry about Leon animations, once I'm done with school I'll give those a try ;).

@ Darkseid DC: thanks :) Li Kun did a great work with the revamp. From here, I'll work on Chris once his sprites are finished, but this is the final look he'll have.

Why would he do that? That's just extra unnecessary work for him.

The roster is big enough already. You'll enjoy some of the choices far more than those two. I promise you.

I agree with Debo on this one ;)

But if there should ever be more characters for the game, then there is so many series that deserves someone to represent them more than adding more Final Fight chars... I could list a few like:
Spoiler, click to toggle visibilty

That is series that I miss by Capcom, but don't mind it really, as it such a big roster already.. but atleast these are more needed then Dean and Lucia lol

Looks full according to the roster in the project. Only if there's like anyone who's interested in spriting those two, maybe they will be in the roster. But it's up to Nestor to decide if they can enter the roster. I'd like to see how many characters in the roster though. Selection diamonds/boxes can be changed to how many slots that can be input for the select screen.

Yeah I Know what you mean this project could be speed-ed up if there is group. Any way I was wondering about Rook and D.D. other two from the Original game I mean Ingrid is goddess of sun Rook is the fallen angel and D.D. is the god of thunder Only Ingrid has appeared in other games. Can anyone tell me why ?

Title: Re: Capcom Fighting All Stars - MUGEN Version

Because Capcom never made sprites for the other two and no one else cares enough about them to do it. And there is a group for this project, but it's still going to take a long time.

Any other questions?

Segatron, you're annoying.

Mugen "maybe" is your life, but for us, people who are REALLY making stuff for the project is a HOBBY. People from the group/staff here has real stuff to do: school, university, work, family, friends etc...

Stop derailing topics here and there with your stupid wishlists and such. Not trying to be harsh, just realistic.

Dante has been one of the hardest characters for the project. Some time ago I told some people that perhaps I could do some changes to his face (at least) once he's done, so he looks less like Rock (like in the example shown below, by LSK and GTF):

We're not going to change his design at this point, so perhas some small details could work to make a better Dante.

Which Jill Valentine are you using for this project?

I saw a WIP of Battlesuit Jill by someone.

Also, are Amaterasu and Nina going to be in? I remember a poll with Nina and Rouge in it, and was wondering if Nina would still be in.

Currently MVC2 Jill, we are working on a RE3 version as well as a RE5/Revelations version as well.
Yes Ammy is in, but on hold for now, as our Ammy spriter has quit on her.

just seeing sprites of characters does not mean they are included. sometimes they are just concepts. but to be on the safe side, any screenshot posted by nestor with a character in it confirms that character will be in the game. so basically... no nina. no saki. or at least at this point in time.

Over at Sinhra I saw a thread (I think..?), along with a few sprites of Regina from Dino Crisis. Will she be a entry in the game? Or was that just some concepts. It's a pretty old thread, so, I didn't want to revive it just to ask. Though, none of it was really clear about her status/standing and what not. I sure hope so.

I forgot if this was asked before (I'm pretty sure it was), but will any of the characters made for this game be available outside of it? I'd love to give Fiona a whirl outside of the fullgame, as well as any other characters that may perk my interests~

Speaking of her, how is her progress? And what all custom animations are going to be done for this fullgame?

will there be standalone editions of the characters that needed sprites? or at least a spritepack release? not trying to leech here but it may be possible for other creators that want to make their own version or just put some characters up against their own roster.

If the drive isn't completely dead, you can try a SATA/IDE to USB adapter.  I had a hard drive crash a while back and was able to recover all of my files with that and the program Zero Assumption Recovery.  You'll obviously need a working computer to plug the bad hard drive into, but this route is much cheaper than having a professional recovery done.

I've not been in the right mood through these past years to work as much as I'd like to in this project. We may keep the MvC project on-hold for now, until we can reorganize as much as we can correctly (I may be working on a one or two of the Marvel chars intended to be single releases through this year, though). This project will be released in a smaller scale, but hopefully, we'll be able to get to our goals this time. Much of the past work will be used here, so you may know what to expect, more or less.

Characters like Fiona will be released separately once the time seems fit. Batsu is receiving some new animations that we needed for the project.

Hopefully, with a lot of hard work, we'll make it this time, in 2016.

Holy fucking shit, the irony of all this was I was just scrolling through this thread moments ago, I was totally not expecting this.

I was gonna ask who had the more progress, CFAS or MvC: Universal Dream Battle? Because from what I see you've all put a lot of work into CFAS, at least more so than MvC: UDB, and I would probably suggest to work on the one with more progress/work put into it (this is just an opinion, do as you wish).

Love the select menu screen. Simple is always nice. And that Morrigan looks hot. :3 :3

Hope to see more progress on this, I followed this from the beginning (as a lurker at first :XD:), and this pretty much inspired me to sprite/pursue my own MUGEN full game (this and the CvS3 screen pack), I honestly can't describe how happy I am to see a shred of evidence of this great project's living. Best of luck.

Thanks for the welcome guys :D !

@Zaitsu Hatter: hehehe this was unexpected even for me man ;) The one with more progress is CFAS actually; considering some of the stages and work done, I guess it's better to release first CFAS; by the time we go back to MvC, hopefully we'll have a lot more experience and will be able to add some new mechanics in the game.

Thanks, the sprite was done by !E a long time ago and was thinking about including it somehow in the game; I'm not sure if those are going to be added in the Select Screen, but for now the idea is to show some artwork in the main menu, rotating, showing some of the characters.

Hopefully we'll do this really fast, first of all would be to include and bug-check every character almost complete so far. Thanks for your words pal, it's great to see our work inspired yours as well (that was the case with me too, seeing Beximus' Capcom Fighting Revolution at the time), I'm sure your contributions will inspire others as well ;) (you've done some pretty awesome spritework with Kyo, and your ideas for CvsSE are pretty cool).

@Xenomic: yes, I tried to contact !E with no luck; hopefully he'll come back one day, I just hope he's alright, he's a great friend and hopefully CFAS will arrive to a good port thanks to his and the whole team work :)

Looks like the screenpack is done, but I'll check it to be sure. Expect some news soon :)

that's exactly what it is though, it's a hobby. during the last 7 years he has been involved with it in varying degrees. it doesn't mean it's the only thing he ever does. if he still enjoys doing it he'll still do it. the moment he doesn't enjoy it anymore he'll stop, there's nobody forcing him to stay. it's not like you're giving him permission to quit, he doesn't need that. what you're saying is fucking stupid
