ENLIGHTENDSHADOW's GUIDE
I have packed along with this screenpack the portraits needed for each character. You will need to use a program called Fighter Factory to use these pictures in your mugen characters. You can get the
Free program by using google and downloading program. I’ve added all of the basic roster along with this screen pack and you may add others to the SP as well. Before you add any of these images to your character you have to make sure you add the line "localcoord = 360" under [Info] in each of thecharacter’s .def file.
The .rar file that is called KOFXIII MUGEN FINAL Portraits contains the pictures that will be used on the select screen, vs screen, winscreen, and life bars. Once you open a character in fighter factory used the search feature under sprites to search for a certain image. Find the image "9000, 0" and replace it with the one provided for each character. Make sure the picture is placed on x = 0 and y = 0 and then save.
The next folder is "9000, 1 large portraits" basically do the same as above but search for image "9000, 1" and replace the image, and so on with the remaining portraits.

I made most of the screenpack and artwork used in this SP but I wouldn't have been able to to any of this without some help from the people at mugen guild especially H_Loader, Lef4dead and Cybaster who provided me with a lot of good tips and helped me with some small bits of code that I needed. I hope you guys like it and tell me what you think. If you have any tips or fixes you can help with I'm always willing to accept the help.

I haven't tested it yet, but one critic by looking at the archive : I don't want to have to use another Mugen build for a new screenpack.
What you should do is put all the files necessary to the screenpack in a single folder (system.def/sff, select.def, fonts, fight.def/sff if needed, etc.), ùaking sure everything points to the correct directory.
Name this folder KOF13 if you want.
Then, people would just have to put the KOF13 folder in the data folder, and create a batch file with "Mugen -r KOF13" as command line, and they'll be able to launch the screenpack easily, without having to install a new mugen each time.

It looks like i did a bad job cropping the images because the screenshots I posted are half the size. In game it actually doesn't look that way. Here is a full size screenshot.

Thanks, glad you like it. I would still like to see your take on KOFXIII screen pack someday. I'm actually still updating my own screen pack, I'm learning as I go so when I find things out I try to incorporate them.
I found the borders that are in the VS screen on a really good screen shot and then I color edited them for the other screens. On the vs screen the floor is actually from a power point presentation that SNK showed at the official preview which I then edited in photoshop.

I really love this screenpack... but I kinda want a different LifeBar though. Anyone know some good lifebars? The ones I have keep going small at the corner. I really don't know how to size the Lifebars..

I've recently teamed up with left4dead and metal warrior to make my screen pack be the best it possibly can.
I hear you on the life bars but our team is hard at work and our final release should have some pretty awesome life bars :sugoi:

this is really a great effort though. Just needs a little airbruching around the original imagescharacter borders. Just goes to show that SNK is still a bit less refined then it's 90's counterpart.

my first post on MFG... ^^ and just to show my support to this project...
i really hope that this turn out to be one F***** awesome screenpack, already is, dont get me wrong but it got a few things to polish, like the lifebars and the portraits on them, and the portraits in select screen... the white line? I like the white line... ;)
now is just trying to make it as good as possible...
and also, i want to give my regards to LEFT4DEAD for the update on mayarlink´s CVS2... that screenpack is turned out wicked man... i use it for months now! Um abraço de Portugal meu irmão...

The update is going well and left4dead has been of great help since he as provided me with a few necessary pieces to make the project look better. Unfortunately Metal Warrior never contributed to the project so he is off and with him the life bars he was going to design. So I've take the challenge of making them on my own and I've got to say that so far I'm doing pretty well. They are 50% done and they are actually HD (1280,720) I want to show you some new screen shots but I'm going to wait until its completely done :D

Nice to hear things are progressing.
I just tested the SP, and here are some criticisms :
- The title screen is very nice. However, the horizontal scrolling image (with all the chars) on the left has the gray sign under it cropped at times.
- On title and select screen, it'd be really nice to have a better font than this square one DJ-Van made.
- On the select screen, "Member Select" and "Prepare for the ultimate battle" are not in nice HD, but rather look LR or HR. You may have to redo that.
- Remove the last row of small portraits, as they bring nothing at all really.
- I know you're happy to put your KOF12 edited sprite in the select screen, but it would look much better IMO if you gave them some animations, because they look really static. I guess this means switching the sprites for stance animations taken on the official KOF12 site.

That explains why you haven't been on lately. When ever you get your computer back up and running let me know so you can get me the blue charging effect for the second player. I almost have the life bar done I just need to make the right animations for the "ready!...GO!" and the "KO" at the end of the fight. I'll put up some screen shots so you guys can see how far I've come along :)
By the way does anyone know of a program that would make separate images of a movie so i can make an intro?

You will be able to download any character you want and add them to the screen pack, When I release it to the public i will also release the new large portraits, select portraits, and lifebar portraits to the characters that I have made so far. I will give instructions on how to add them to a character and place them correctly. Trust me it will be easier than it sounds. With the portraits I provide i will give a template so you can make your own :) It might take a little bit longer than a traditional mugen to get up and running but in the end you get a really sexy looking screenpack in complete HD.
Right now Left4Dead and I are finishing up the select screen, just a few more additions and animations to make it complete then we will move on to the VS screen where I have already planned out a few more things that I want to animate there and change a bit.
Its too bad you don't like the life bars but I love them not to mention that they are made to be HD with no loss to the color or detail. There is definetly work to be done on them, espacially for the simultaneous battles but I'm almost done ;D

These screenshots are from and upcoming update so I haven't updated the download link as of yet. I'm waiting until I think it has gotten a very significant update and it will please everyone :) I'm having way too much fun planning and designing this screenpack :sugoi:

My life bar is the original one...mostly haha. I basically got tired of waiting for Metal warrior (since we didn't hear anything from him) and I had figured out how to do the animation so I was bored and decided to takle that challenge alone. I didn't do any research just trial and error haha.
I've added the new effect under the characters and it look good so i think we have that part done.
I took your advice and took away the stage background to the victory screen and added a planet scene which actually makes sense since the ash saga has those people from outer space like Mukai and Magaki.
I guess you could call it talent but in reality I'm just having fun and do a lot of trial and error but time flies when I'm having fun so it doesn't bother me lol and sure Left4Dead when we are done with this screenpack I'll let you know if i decide to do any other projects.

Here is a slight update that changes the select screen and the vs screen and as you can see K' new sprite is already there haha. Besides that I'm trying to figure out how to animate the character sprites on the select screen itself. If anyone has any ideas let me know. I'm also looking for the part in the life bar that says "ready" "GO" and "KO" so that i can incorporate that as well :D Send me a PM if you can help

I'm not delaying it because i want to, I've just been busy with college papers/study/and finals coming up and besides that I want to have an awesome screenpack released so that when i do release it i'm happy with what i gave everyone.

Yeah, at the time of my post, there were only 2 images in Enlightened's post, and I thought the Kyo and K' sprites were not "for the selected chars", but just animations which he would put in the screenpack for fun.

Yeah, at the time of my post, there were only 2 images in Enlightened's post, and I thought the Kyo and K' sprites were not "for the selected chars", but just animations which he would put in the screenpack for fun.

See the normal icon which takes is usually a red or blue square around small portraits, when you chose the character in Select screen ? Consider that the icon is the blue square I'm talking about, but it also displays the big portrait of a character at the correct position. This icon can be animated, right ? So I can use the animated icon to display the stance of a character. Now, imagine that each time you move the icon to another slot, this icon displays another sprite of another character (you have to play with the tiling here here, like using huge 1280 pixels tiles). This is kinda like the trick for 3D stages, where you display a new image each time you move by one pixel.

Yes you can. Because when you select the character, the icon you display changes, so you can change which animation is displayed.

Cool at least now i know its possible. Here is my question would the sprites for the animations that change in the select screen be a part of the characters or part of the system.def and .sff? either way i wont do it for the next release of the game unless i can see it as advantageous

Ok thanks cybaster, I'll ask for your assistance in creating the final version that i could put out as a "compilation" of characters. But first I'll finish the screenpack with the small sprites being part of "9000, 1" so that it isn't complicated for the common user.

I don't think i saw your question earlier but as of right now the screenpack is only in 1280X720 but if there is a demand for a 640X480 version then i might do it. First i have to complete the current build at HD resolutions and then i can convert it to a lower res version. So once I'm done and everyone has had a chance to play with it I would like to hear what you guys think and would like from me in the future.
I have a question for you guys. When the screenpack is complete would you like me to release two verisons? One that is just the screen pack with the parts and instructions to add your own characters and a second that is a "compilation" of characters but has everything done "basically the game i would personally have" let me know :D
Oh yeah and Left4Dead is finally back on so we should start building on this really quickly now.
I've also made a slight update to the "9000,1" portraits so now each character will have a specific picture for the win screen and....CUSTOM WIN QUOTES!!! " sorry I've just been trying to figure that out for a long time, and the solution was so simple lol"

yeah i made them using the stage creation tool which allowed me to make the stage in 1280X720 without color loss but i was not able to animate the stages. so i understand that the stages feel like pictures.
oh and if anyone is able to make a video of the sp once its completely built. could you post the video here so others can see it :D

It's not a big deal, really. Some stages just look a little silly, that's all. I still use the stages because regardless of them not having animation because they're beautiful. I'm a sucker for HD/Hi-Res stages.

I might be doing something wrong here... but are the lifebars messed up or... ???
The combo counter doesn't work and the portraits are out of place.
Also I think I see stray pixels all over the grid for the select screen.

Hum now that you mention it, you are right the combo counter doesn't work... I'm going to figure that out. can you show me a screen shot of the portraits out of place and i might be able to help.

i agree with YagamiC4. the lifebar portraits are a bit off and the character portraits are slightly uneven (in some cases, this is extreme) i am wondering if this has to do with the characters we download. ??? if so, could you give us a list of which characters you have and their authors (this would be convenient since the characters will blend in more with our games) and here is a rather selfish request from me (yes selfish since you might need to work on it :-\) that you make an alternative character select screen for those who want to add bosses and other random characters to your screenpack. Another request from me (and probably from many) is if you could include the templates for creating costume portraits for their characters. (f**k thats alot to ask for :-\) i love the screen pack though! :D every detail is so well made..... astounding! Well, that's all for now. I hope you check this and I await for your SNKvsCapcom 3 screen pack! :D

ENLIGHTENDSHADOW's GUIDE
I have packed along with this screenpack the portraits needed for each character
and the instructions on how to use them. You will need to use a program called
Fighter Factory to use these pictures in your mugen characters. You can get the
Free program by using google and downloading program. I will add "kyo-XI" as an
example that you can use. Before you add any of these images to your character
you have to make sure you add the line "localcoord = 360" under [Info] in each
character.
The folder named "Newer small portraits" contains the pictures that will be used
on the select screen. Once you open a character in fighter factory used the
search feature under sprites to search for a certain image. Find the image
"9000, 0" and replace it with the one provided for each character. Make sure
the picture is placed on x = 0 and y = 0 and then save.
The next folder is "9000, 1 large portraits" basically do the same as above but
search for image "9000, 1" and replace the image.
The final folder is "lifebar portraits" and for this one is you have to add a
new image to each character and name it "9000, 3"

Sorry for not responding earlier. Well I tried the iori you gave me and I noticed that you didn't use the portraits I provided with the screenpack. So that could be your problem right there. You might have not made the images correctly in which case I say you youtube how to make character portraits for mugen using photoshop. I went into fighter factory with the Iori you gave me and added my own portraits like I instructed on the first page. I then inserted it into my SP and it worked perfectly. So try using the pics I provided and see if that works :sugoi:

But i dunno how to make images with photo shop CS5 the only photoshop i have and without the magic wand lol...
this stupid photoshop without magic wand so it`s hard to make the portraits images,.. i searched for it on the internet and i found the Type Moon Ultimate MUGEN and a video for how to make The portraits for the game but he used the MW and i really dunno how to make portraits on the (Photoshop Cs5 EXTENDED) >.<!,..
If you can make a high quality vedio and upload it on mediafire, i can download and try to do what you are doing tho... with photoshop cs5 extended...

ok made an acount on imageshake and uploaded some pics shows some obvious faults (not to sound rude but lets face it, its true) some images are completely off and the win screen is rather a bit down. what could be the problem? is it the characters i have? i checked your images and all of them where all right. some where a bit off like robert and mai but most should have been all right yet why do some images appear so off? Oh another note. you should make custom lifebar portraits for simul and turn fights. just so recommendations. aaa and you should make an optional 50 or 80 character select screen for those how like to duke it out with many characters and you should leave a example image profiles so that people how like to make their own character portraits make them. (yes i do this and actually im filling out your older version of your screen pack since it leaves me more space to add characters). pliz i hope you find this handy! :D heres the link to the images with these problems. Ok I see, from the images you are showing me here I can see some of the issues because all of the large portraits are the correct size. the life bar portraits may have issues because I have not fully tested them out. Anyway lets see if this helps.
1. In the first image of robert there are two issues, one you might not have put the line "localcoord = 360" under "info" in the character's .def file which is why he is too large. I know because not only is the large portrait too big but the small one is also out of place. Use the kyo I provided for the correct placement of the line "localcoord = 360" That should solve that issue. Also make sure the 9000,1 image is placed at x = 0 and y = 0 ;D
2. It's the same issue with Daimon in the second pic. It looks like mai has the same issue as well. just make sure that line is in the correct place and that will solve the issue. It looks like you were able to make king, k', kula, iori, mature, and ash in the correct place.
3. third pic is the same issue as above.
4. In the versus screen its the same issue because the localcoord line is not in the correct place and so the images are not shown in the correct place. Once you make them correctly they will look more like the ASH and ATHENA pic that you posted.
5. The picture with Daimon and Robert on the stage where it says "ready" confirms my suspicion of the localcoord line because they are WAY too big. Like with everything else one that line is in place everything will fit nicely. :sugoi:
6. I will definetly consider making new team pics for the secondary characters as shown in your last picture.
So so don't worry it's not your characters that are making the issues it probably just the placement of the line "localcoord = 360" once that is done all of your current issues will be solved 8)
As for your request to add more character slots on the screenpack I'm going to have to refuse because I wanted this screenpack to look like KOFXIII and if I do that a lot of the select screen will have to change and it will no longer look the way I imaged. In the select.def I have allowed specified where you can put more characters that would make them secret by skipping the 3rd line and adding characters after that. The nice part is that you no longer have to make the 9000, 0 image just the 9000,1 image. I didn't release the other portraits i made but in the one I am currently using I have 3 more rows of characters and each one is based on a saga "orochi, nest, ash" and I've made many different characters 9000, 1 image but I did not release those with my screenpack. If you guys want custom portraits for other characters just let me know and I'll make them for you or just release a pack containing the charcter portraits that are in the most demand.

Large Portrait Tutorial:
Everyone wants to be able to make their own custom portraits for my screenpack, and that's awesome but I thought people would be able to figure out how to make their own using the one's I provided as a template but I guess I was wrong. So I'm going to try and explain how to make them but the only issue is that I use two programs to make them not just one. I use Adobe Fireworks cs5 and Adobe photoshop cs5 to create them. I not going to to into detail on how to make mugen portraits in general because there are tutorials on youtube and lessons right on this forum that go into amazing detail on how to make them. So to do it my way you need 3 programs ( fireworks, adobe, and fighterfactory)
Below is an example image that I made using a 3 different images of Kyo from the nest saga and my custom sprite of Kyo KOFXIII style.
Steps
1. make a new document in fireworks with a transparent background that is 900X2880 in size
2. choose the images that you want to use in the portrait. the highest picture is shown on the select screen along with the character sprite, the picture in the middle is shown in the VS screen, the final picture is the win screen with a quote that you must type onto the picture. Make sure you clean them up and give them transparent backgrounds as well. I use the magic wand tool and then expand the marquee one pixel so that there isn't a white border around the image.
3. Once you have the images you are going to use just use the picture I have posted below as a guide. I made pink guide lines as to where the pictures should be placed. Just try to match the size and placement of the head of your character to the size and placement of Kyo's head in the pic I have provided.
3. Once everything has been placed in the correct place save it as a .PNG file in a place you will remember. I recommend using a folder to oganize your files.
4. Then open the same image in photoshop and select all of the pink colored areas and delete them so that only the images are left.
5. Go to the top menu and go to image -> mode -> indexed color and then just leave everything how it is and click ok.
6. Save it as a .PCX
7. open you character in fighter factory and replace the 9000, 1 image with your new large picture and make sure you place it on x = 0 y= 0 and save all
8. Make sure that in your character's .def file you place the line "localcoord = 360" under the "info" section or else the pictures will see to be too big and will not fit right like sal-azul's images above.

Thanks for the compliment but I'm not studying graphic design or game design. I'm actually in college getting my bachelors in business haha although graphic design was my second choice. I might end up getting that degree as well but its just too bad that I can't use MUGEN to get a job haha. I do like to draw and color on the computer, and of course draw by hand, and I've recently started to make KOFXIII styled sprites which you can check out in the graphics section on this forum or at deviant art. I'm just making things for MUGEN as a hobby and I'm learning as I go. I've only started making things for Mugen for about 4 months and I've only scratched the surface of what is possible.
This screenpack is like a beta, I'm actually still working on it and trying to make it better but from here on out anything I make can be added to the one you guys downloaded by installing patches that I will upload. I say I'm about 80% complete with this screenpack with help from LEFT4DEAD. (THANKS AGAIN!!!)

lol love the fact that i'm double nationality jejeje i live in the boarder with Arizona and that law kinda pissed me off... ok i think i went of topic here xD. anyway are your fixing the simul lifebars? they look kind of weird and take me off guard once in a while. heres what i think (yea just an opinion) you should do with the simul life bars. maybe you should add a metalic divider between the two character lifebars and you should use custom portraits on the left edge of the lifebars (i recomend the same ones you could make for the turns portraits, just to make it look clean). anything but that is minor. things you probably noticed like leftover green pixels, bla, bla, bla. and you should leave the project at around 95% so that when the actual The King of Fighters XIII comes out you can rip the videos and add them to your screenpack (I think you already had this in mind but just in case).
other wise than that, are there any updates for the screenpack? (images since you want to release patches later on) :D.

My KOFXIII stages are available as part of my screen pack only. I never released them separately.
Right now i'm in the process of making a huge update to my SP again. I'm just waiting to get more pics from the offical version. So even though I have the ground work done to make this sp complete I'm going to have to wait for the arcade release of the game to complete it. So you guys should expect a new release of this SP about a week after july 15th. :D

use select.def in mugen1.0 folder in data =D you might also want to rename the character def and folder to the names that are already placed in the select.def. or change them at your will, lol.

So the intro video for the ARCADE version of KOFXIII has been released and I've tried to make an intro to my SP using this intro but i keep on having trouble doing that. here I've posted the youtube link to the original video and a place to download the video. I want to request someone to make the intro for this screen pack since i cannot do that on my own. I had said before that I was going to be updating my KOFXIII screen pack soon after the release of the official game. I'm quite literally rebuilding the entire thing :D I still need to get more HD videos of the offical game so i can add more animations to the screen pack. well... the new edits look most like kof 2k2 um...
the last title menu and game over screen was great, the 2k2 um structure doesn't fit at my point of view
and the order select is a great adition...
that's my opinion, but, you are the creator of the screenpack and you should know what to do xD
and for the game over screen, you should wait more hd videos...

Now thats a sweet WIP Iori, I've seen it on this forums "Projects" section by a very high caliber team. I wish the sprites for KOFXII would have be ripped by now but still no one has figured out how to get them out. oroqi showed me a taste of what is to come using the sprites that SNK showed of KYO XII. He only has his stand animation and two different punches but its a start and the best thing... It runs perfectly with my mugen screenpack at 1280X720. So like i said before i hope someone finds out how to take the sprites from KOFXII soon :sugoi:

There aren't any KOFXIII styled mugen characters out there. You can use any mugen character out there right now and use them for my Screenpack. ;D But when they are made I would like anyone to post a link to them here so i can add them to my own roster 8)

That iori isn't a wip in fact it doesn't exist for no one has yet ripped it from the game and that iori in the screenpack just the a moving portrait when you select the character

you serously need to download a HD video or MKV video. It is way more than 150 mb! So don't make a fuse over it! And expect more than 200 mb in the future update since everything EnlightendShadow is doing to his screenpack is so that it is almost, if not identical to the real thing! So that means HD. :sugoi: So I'll wait for the new update for now. 8)

I just got my new job but you guys can bet that I'm still devoted to this SP. What I'm really going for with this is SP is to make an HD SP that is on par with the work that hloader has put out for hi res mugen. Like I said before I've been studying his work to see how he made his SP's and I am learning a lot from them but I think I'll need more time to make this work right. My goal is to make an SP that makes MUGEN HD worth while and the new standard not just a cheap gimmick. Thanks to everyone that's putting forth their work to contribute to this SP. Oh and of course you guys can expect me to make all the portraits needed for the SP to come along with the package; I wouldn't want to leave you guys hanging :sugoi:

actually there is a KOF game for wii, It's KOF Orochi saga and then the downloadable titles available from the wii store. To invoke create an animation similar to that in select and versus (not equal 100%)
But what I saw in your screenpack is already close to the original.
putting "fade.in" and "fade.out" "0" would be possible to make this transition between select and versus. (Flash would be good in that part ...) only suggestion.

No I don't need the screenshots from the video. In fact I've already taken the animations I need from the video in 1280X720 (i have a screen that is 1920X1080 but this is the size that is required) now i just need people to help me convert the hundreds of images into .pcx files so I can edit them and add them to the screenpack. So yeah I just need grunt work to be done hahaha, if i do it myself it will come out exactly like i want it but it will take a long time unless someone knows how to convert multiple images at a time. PM me if you are willing to help out with this so then I can assign a task per person (so we avoid confusion) and it gets done quicker :sugoi:

This is how far I've gotten on my current update for this Screenpack, it's definitely still a WIP but it's getting there. Well I could release two versions, one that is just an SP and the other that is a "full game" with the characters I'm using but it will still contain all of the parts needed to add your own characters. Hey sal-azul, I see that your little quote is portait maker... would you like to help me make the new portraits for this SP? If so let me know because I have all the files needed to make them but like I said before it just takes a long time to do the little stuff. :sugoi:

I knew you would ask me for the spirits,, for this I actually decided to work with in rip the game. but the spirits are not in the same folder with portraits, i think they are in a folder called Fighter and are in the different file format (.pcs) that i has not yet found nothing. :S In the folder are some pallete in PNG
About the folder riped in it i THINK (beacaus i am lazy to decopress 1 by 1 ;P) is the ''screenpack" of kof xii

Those win portraits have totally helped me out with a few of the characters. Oh yeah, for that first set of art you uploaded could you make a new download with the character art already put together. Like I mentioned before when I try to line them up they are never the right size...
Progress:
I've finished all of the portraits needed for the SP (at least the main people) and I'm almost done putting them on each character so I can test out the work I've done so far. I've given H_Loader my current SP build and have given him the parts he needs to make the final animations still needed to finish the SP. Once he is done I'll do some touch ups here and there and release it to you guys to play with. I have a have a cool idea though where you guys can participate in helping me make this mugen. I think it would be cool to have you guys come up with win quotes for all of the characters and post them on this thread so I can apply them to the characters. So start posting ;D :sugoi:

Hiya EnlightendShadow, I remember their were some stages from KOF XIII that were released as mugen stages and were animated. I got the Rose Stadium and the Destroyed Stadium (aka Saiki's stage). I could scour the internet to find some of the stages. Would that help?
In any case, great work on the screen-pack, definitely will be one of the best mugen games ever.

I've also found the other already released 640x480 versions of some kofxiii stages but I would prefer not to use them. I want to make my current 1280x720 stages animated. I think I've figured out how to animated some things so I'll work on that today after work. If I get stuck I'll ask for help : )

After downloading provided file. I cannot start mugen. Error message suggests to reinstall application???

I will be releasing my newest update to my KOFXIII SP HD tomorrow night or on Christmas morning look forward to it and spread the word. :sugoi: Just one final question to you guys. Do you want me to add the win quotes to the characters I will be releasing along with the SP or would you rather do that part on your own? :S Don't worry the SP will be completely editable and I'll release the initial portraits with the SP so you can add your own characters but I'll continue to support the SP with more portraits for all of you to enjoy. Be warned this SP + characters will be a huge file but well worth it. I'll make a guide for those of you new to Mugen on page 1 of this forum and will be glad to answer any questions about it. Now this doesn't mean that I'm going to stop working on this SP because I still need to work on the stages and of course you guys may find glitches that I can fix and patch. Happy holidays :afro:

This is one of the best looking screen packs but are there any major issues with this one, like problems in the select file?

I don't know if it's just me, but a lot of things in the select screen looks very odd.
I took a screenshot so I can point a few things out.

All of the portraits and parts of the background look scaled very very oddly, like they were shunk down by mugen. This could be a setting I have but all I changed was the fullscreen.
The timer and player 1 and player 2 fonts do not match with the background at all and are very very grainy. Same with the portraits, but I can fix that myself.
At the bottom of the screen the background is messed up.
It's good but needs some fixes

No one has been able to rip the sprites from kofxii yet so it will be a while before I add them to my SP. I'm glad you liked it though and good luck with your KOFXIII styled sprites 8)

It is a really decent game, but there are some problems that I have with it.
The "start" button does not work during game play, therefore, when called away, it always wins.
The "start" button does not work, so there is not way to view how to do certain moves.
The computer always moves faster than the player, which is a real bad one for me. I almost put a hole in my wall due to that.
Certain characters do nothing but their specials, like the chick with the "hadoken" style move. It really brings the game play down.
The computer is able to pull off the special moves without having to build up a charge like the player must.
I think I covered every problem that I have had with it so far. Sorry if I am being too analytical.

It's all good. It's not a full game it is just my screen pack with characters made by different people in mugen community. there is no pause button because it is MUGEN not a full game. If the computer is too strong for you then go to options and change the difficulty ;)

Hi its me ZiN from [MI] I was gonna give some feed back but I guess everyone else pointed them. Here's a tip on the AI though, most of the insane ai are the char that have been patch so it's best to change it in the char def file. Great screenpack :) thanks for the release!!!.

xX-Nero-Xx was kind enough to update my India KOFXIII stage with background animations in full 1280X720. He will also be releasing a hires and low res version of this stage for others to play with. For what i have seen on the SP sprites, you need to change the animations, because in the SP is included the transition of the sprites (when they kinda spin)
Sooo... no, you can't put another characters without editing the SP.

all you need to do is create the correct portraits for your char. place them in your char's sff.
open your char's .def and add:
localcoord = 360
that is all.

and make the animations from scratch, because the transitions of the original photos are made in a single layer in conjunction with the background.
It is preferable to use hidden lines below the original chars, only then to add other characters.

Just use the hidden slots in the KOFXIII sp. In the select.def you should use the 4th line and on. Make sure you skip the 3rd line.

Go into your character's .def file and under their [info] section add the line localcoord = 360
Just look at any of the characters I sent with the SP as a reference. This will make the characters smaller on screen and it will make all of the portraits I provided work perfectly :sugoi:
By the way guys are there any more character portraits you guys want me to provide? Give me a list of like 10 characters and I'll get to work on them right away. I'll start making packs of portraits for the SP

Cool, well I probably will release the .rar with the new portraits tomorrow (kinda busy playing MVC3 :-X ) Anyway I wanted to share with you guys a link to a french site where another one of my Mugen friends decided to make an update to my KOF XIII SP with some HD/ Filtered Characters. It obviously has only the required characters for the SP but I will give RALFAB more character to convert. If you have a powerful enough computer and are curious go to the page and download it and give me some feedback here. Speaking of other projects, I was wondering if you guys could help me out a little. I'm trying to decide which SP I should work on next. The choices are Capcom VS SNK 3 (which I have started and RALFAB is willing to convert characters for), BlazBlue VS Guilty Gear Alternative Gain (is also started and have the Select Screen and 90% but currently there are a lack of BlazBlue character but I have someone helping me out with that), Super Street Fighter 4 ( Not started but would be easy to get a beta done), or Marvel Vs Capcom 3(same thing as SSF4 SP). I haven't figured out how to make a poll yet so if you could tell me how I'll start a new topic in the projects section.

Can we add other char to your friend SP like a regular mugen or is it completely locked like KoF Zillion or KoF Memorial (by using .dat or similar method)?

Here is a little but significant update to the SP that will change the team lifebars to look a lot sleeker and as an added bonus you no longer need the 9000, 4 custom picture. :D along with this update you get a cleaner looking version of the winscreen. All you have to do is unzip the file and add the data folder to your existing KOFXIII SP. This update will work on both the standard version found on page 1 or on the HD character version found on the french website by ralfab. I'm still making a bunch of portraits and I'll release them soon enough. :sugoi: I'm going to be releasing packs of characters with all of the portraits already done, new pallets that are more KOFXIII like, and complete win quotes. Think of it as DLC for mugen ;D

I downloaded and after some tweaking got it to work for me (using only downloads from page 1, hope their up to date)
Question: I want to add my old characters (Evil Ken, Ryu, Arcueid, melty bloods, etc). I noticed you have rows below the top 2 that I can add characters to and select, but I can't see the select box or the rows! Is there a way I can see these rows and my select box when I scroll down to, say, rows 3, 4, 5, etc?

you're not suppose to see the other rows. that's how the screenpack was made.

they are there if you want to add more characters. that's the point, otherwise they wouldn't be there. and the animations inside the screenpack are made to work ONLY with the images/portraits in those two rows. the other rows are simply there if you want to add other characters that are not found in XIII.

yeah i get that and it's all fine and dandy. I just think that support for these extra characters would be awesome.. it's not that great when i have to feel my way around in the darkness to find my character in the 3rd or 4th row..

If you have downloaded my SP and all of it's parts, you will find a materials folder that has the templates for all of the pictures you need which in this case would be 9000, 3 and 9000, 5. If you can't find them then I'll upload the templates you need when I finish my game 100%. Mostly I'm just making the remaining portraits for the rest of the characters that I'm adding to the SP as compilation/ full game.

yeah man i get you but the thing is that when I use fighter factory to test some portraits it shows them to me like this and I don't get why if i am replacing them with the ones you gave me. (picture 1)But in your regular mugen it shows them fine.(picture 2).But if I put you lifebars in another mugen and use one of your chars it shows the portrait fine and if I add another fighter but with the same exact portrait it shows it like this.(picture 3 terry). the small lifebar portraits are no problem.please help me with this.

go to your desired character's .def file and open it up in notepad. under the [info] section add a line and type localcoord = 360 this re sizes the entire character and will make it so the portraits fit perfectly :)

if you guys haven't noticed yet, the real kofxiii arcade version has been leaked onto the web. it was definitely a surprise to me especially since snk had finally announced the console version to be released later this year. oh well, i'm still going to buy the retail version on both consoles because i want to support my favorite fighting game company. i will use the real kofxiii release to update my own sp quicker than i thought i was going to. now all of you guys have access to the kofxiii portraits :D
if you care/love snk please buy the real game when it finally hits consoles. other wise that will be the real end of snk.

The ports seem to have anti-aliasing. making so that when ya delete the black, you still have a darker border around the image. :-\

Title Screen
The last Title screen was WAY too plain and it just didn't work for me. Now I know that the real KOFXIII has just the logo and a start screen but it's just boring. I modeled this title screen off of the updated japanese kofxiii website. I think it looks much better.

Current Select Screen
This is my current select screen that resembles the kofxiii select screen. If you guys remember it is the same as the last version of this SP with adel next to ash. I don't think you guys will notice but since I have all of the official parts from the game I have extensively updated the select screen. I changed the large portraits, changed the center logo, changed the countdown numbers in the center, changed the floor, changed the circles under the sprites, and changed the background, and bunch of other things. Since they are straight rips it looks a lot cleaner than before, I should have put a comparison pic but whatever.

Extended Select Screen
This is a tentative idea, I don't know if i should implement this select screen because it will require both versions of saiki for mugen and obviously they are not out yet... what do you guys think? should I make this the default select screen? Win Screen
I've greatly updated the win screen which now allows for some transparency on the bottom of the screen. It looks awesome in motion and the new portraits really pop

I'm pretty much updating every part of the SP, I haven't gotten to the vs screen yet but I'll get there. I'm going to be updating the lifebar as well and not to mention the stages :D
Now I do need some help with the fonts on every screen. Like the names that are displayed on the select screen, the names in the lifebar, the font in the win screen has always been a big issue and hopefully someone can get that done for me. Thank you oroqi for the font used in the lifebar counter :D

Hi we all know that the real KOF XIII has been released few days ago for PC ...will you use the real sprites from the real game to make some chars...if not, i've noticed that now you' added some chars which are LR. will you let the game like that or will you convert your chars HR like you did few month ago. i've downloaded a version on an other site with all the chars converted by a mugen creator Ralfab.

I may be wrong... but I think that this Ralfab didn't ask EnlightenedShadow to use his screenpack to make a fullgame
if I'm not wrong, that compilation you downloaded has nothing to do with EnS, only the screenpack that was used

actually Ralfab did ask me to use the SP for a full game. I allowed him to do it just because I wanted to see his skills in action. It was a cool addition to that roster. To answer your question eliott I have not spoken to Ralfab in quite some time so I don't know if this compilation will have hi res characters. There have not been any rips of the characters from KOFXIII yet so we will see what happens with the characters.

All those people talking about ripping the original game...it saddens me.
It didn't happen with KOF XII and I do hope it won't happen with KOF XIII too.
I mean in the 90s emulation did make some bad collaterals on SNK business, but it was kinda ok at the time as most ppl couldn't buy the actual hardware to run the original games. But I really don't want to see the same situation happening here (nobody actually buying KOF XIII on Xbox360/PS3) else there won't be any KOF XIV...

So this is the first time I've ever attempted to edit a character besides basic color editing. I'm trying to add the neo max effect to each of the characters. I finally got it working, well kind of. As you can tell I still have the kof2k2 hsdm effects. I want to get rid of them and I also want to add a black background as the HSDM continues. Unfortunately I don't know how to do that. I need some help. If anyone knows how to edit/create characters please get in contact with me. I would like to learn how it all works together to easily create what I need. From just playing around with the character I was able to remove some of the unwanted animations from the kof2k2 um background and change the sound of the hsdm activation to that of the Neomax activation. If you can help let me know. I have the required sprites already converted into .PCX and ready for use with any character. If you would like to add it to your characters let me know and I will upload a .RAR file with the parts needed. Thank you

All in all, not bad huh. Hopefully I can learn how to code kofxiii styled characters by playing around with the characters I've downloaded. We will see how this all shapes up. This time there isn't any sugar coating, it's a straight up look at my current progress on my KOFXIII SP. There have been a TON of updates on the screenpack with animations, placement of objects, replacing low resolution items with HD updates straight from the Arcade edition. I have basically completed the SP with great help from Hloader. I still have to re-make most of the portraits for the characters in both the select screen and the life bars. That is really what has become the most time consuming part. I'm using K' as my base to create the rest of the portraits. Here is my progress so far
Intro Movie = 0%
Start Screen = 50%
Main Menu = 100%
Select Screen = 98% (slight modifications in the animations needed)
Vs Screen = 100%
Win Screen = 100%
Continue Screen = 100%
Congratulations screen = 100%
Options screen = 100%
Lifebar = 100% (portraits needed)
Credits Movie = 0%
Once I'm done with all of the portraits I'll basically be done. I still have not gotten around editing the characters within the SP so if anyone is willing to help add effects, making pallets, changing voices, sound effects, adding win quotes, moves and animations to the characters please get in contact with me. I have all of the parts needed like the character sprites, effects sprites, and sound clips but I just don't have the time to do all the work on my own. Sorry for the low quality video but it is the only way I can get decent frame rate video capture. I promise when I'm done I'll release the full HD version and a patch to make it standard low res. So what do you guys think? What do you like? What should I add or remove? What should be improved? Leave a comment below with your ideas, they are usually always helpful.

So I'm basically done with the Screenpack but since avatar of woe has been releasing the character sprites of XIII I was wondering if anyone wanted to work together to try and make the characters for the SP. I'll release the SP in a few days with out the characters but it will have all of the portraits already made for your use :D

Hi Mr enlightenshadow Maybe you should ask Ralfab a french mugen creator...he's got much more HD chars from kof XIII such as Mai Leona Ralf Clark Hotaru Vice etc...
to get in touch with him simply goes at a french mugen and emulation sites called emuline.org . he's an admin, i guess he will help you get those chars for your project. the first time i played you're kof xiii mugen game i saw that Ralfab converted all normal chars onto HD...it was so great...and now we will have a real KOF XIII Mugen game with all the real ripped chars from KOF XIII PC emulated version.

The SP is done, some characters are still old KOF style but thats ok, as the new KOFXIII styled characters get released I post them made to fit into my mugen. Other than that I still need to create some of the team based lifebar portraits but I'll do that on my own time. I have a bunch of other portraits to release for other more custom characters and once I get a good batch I release the add on. Until then enjoy, give me you reactions, suggestions and of course like always I'm willing to accept any help :D Thanks to everyone who ever looked at my work and followed my work.

• Order select sometimes doesn't work. Sometimes i fight with Saiki in the first challenger or i fight versus kyo(or another char) in, for eg, Portal stage, void stage.

I think it has to do something with the amount of memory available to render the characters and stages. I'll try to fix that through mugen.cfg. Just because I'm curious try using two low res characters on that stage.
I'm still making the simultaneous portraits to the lifebar. I'll release them later.

Huh that's an interesting problem, send me the files you used to make that portrait and along with that the actual portrait you made. I'll look at it and make one that works then I'll let you know what was the difference. Sound good?
